After tragedy claimed his parents, Colton Betlan traded his dreams for responsibility—flying planes and raising his little brother with no room for romance. Then fearless aerial photographer Natalia Brekenhof storms into his carefully ordered world, challenging his every boundary and igniting feelings he can't afford to feel. But when her lens captures a hidden militia bunker in the wilderness, deadly forces emerge from the shadows, determined to silence her. Suddenly the cautious pilot's protective instincts kick into overdrive for the wild-hearted woman who makes him want to risk it all.
Natalia Brekenhof is one heart-stopping shot away from international acclaim—if the handsome, overprotective pilot would just loosen up a little. But as bullets fly and a ruthless enemy closes in, she discovers that the man she once thought too careful might be her only chance at survival.
With danger at every turn and nowhere to hide, Colton and Natalia must trust each other with their secrets... and their hearts. Because against these enemies, they'll need more than skill to stay alive—they'll need the courage to love, even when it means facing their deepest fears. Sometimes the greatest adventure is found in letting go of control.
Romantic suspense fans of Robin Patchen, Tara Grace Ericson, and Jessica Ashley will love this protective hero, woman-in-jeopardy, found family, opposites attract, slow burn romance from C.D. Gill. Binge the whole series!
C.D. Gill is the award-winning author of The Freedom's Cry and Against All Odds series. As a midwestern transplant living in the south, she traded the wide-open spaces for more sunshine and warmth year-round. Her insatiable love for travel and exploring new places finds a home in her action-packed fiction where times get hard for the characters but they're never left without hope.
I was pulled into this romantic story from the start, and the suspense ramped up throughout this story. Singed is a slow-burn romance with a hero protector and opposite attracts. Colton, after the death of his parents, moved to Oregon to raise his younger brother Caden, a high school senior. Natalia is an aerial photographer but finds herself in danger. Singed has action, suspense, romance, a militia group, and great camaraderie among the team and between Colton and Caden. Singed also has some nail-biting, tense moments and close calls. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you love slow burn, opposites attract romantic suspense, then this book 2 is for you. You don't have to read these books in order but it makes more sense if you do. A great clean read.
