Dear Writers: Give Her a Body Count and a Personality
It is mind-numbing how often we’re still stuck in this dusty, one-dimensional “innocent-virgin-meets-traumatized-playboy” nonsense — as if it’s 2005 Wattpad all over again. And worse, the female lead never gets the same room to explore, mess up, be bold, or — god forbid — have some fun without being punished or judged by the narrative.
Also… they couldn’t even get the ex’s name right? That’s just sloppy. You deserve better from your escapism!
Can we please retire the outdated fantasy where the guy gets to have a past but the woman only gets a glow-up when she’s “saved” by his emotional crumbs?
I am tired of the fmc who has no body count. It is basically copy and paste from previous book down to how they act during spice scenes. If the next fmc has her v card I'm done with series
If you're looking for a quick read that's mafia light this is it. It follows the typical "Cinderella" storyline. The writing is good but has a few errors. I really enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. Happy Reading❤
2.5 ⭐️. Very light spicy mafia. Good for a palette cleanser between other books. Fairy-taley, but a fun, insta love, quick read.
- No third act breakup - No major miscommunication/misunderstanding - there’s a minute where she thinks he has to marry someone else, but she’s mistaken. - Honeyah is a long time student trying to finish her degree while also earning money to take care of her ailing brother who needs a lover transplant. She is selfless in the extreme. - Triston is part of some kind of royal family but also the lead brother in charge of the family real estate business in Las Vegas which has ties to various mafias. He is insanely protective of her. - No OM/No OW. - Spice is spicing - She is a virgin which is (eye-roll) and he is a playboy who only dates women for a month (double eye-roll). They meet and it’s end game for both. - Dual POV; engagement and then marriage in 1 yr later very brief epilogue.
So these two meet when she is a server at his brother, Killian’s, wedding. She is also the good friend of Triston’s business associate’s wife. Anyhoo, he meets her and quickly becomes obsessed, hiring her to work on his staff. She then needs $10,000 for her brother’s surgery and decides to auction off her virginity. Because what else would one do?? Lol.
Triston catches wind and arrives to save the day. Sparks fly, a week later love declarations are exchanged, the end.
It’s fun and quick and that’s about it. If you’re looking for character development or a deep meaning, look elsewhere.
I don’t usually leave reviews like this and it’s rare for me to leave a less than 4 star review but I have thoughts.
This could have been better if the time line was spread out, here is what happened in one week. One week.
-Tristen and Honeyeh meet. -Tristan offered her a job as a professional duster in his house. You read that right. -Tristan gets mad that’s she’s doing her job and dusting a chandelier. **In a matter of 72 hours,** -He buys her a dress and changes her job title to “Personal Assistant” makes her be his date to an event at his house. -Finds out she has her V card and denied her the O. -Honey feels rejected and decides to sell her virtue for $10 grand to help her sick brother. -the “bad guy” Dimitri puts her for sale on his website starting bid, $50,000 -Tristan buys it for $100 grand. Takes it in the shower. -Moves her and the brother into his house. -Tells her he loves her and within 12 hours proposes marriage. -Almost gets shot in his own house by the bad guy Dimitri and we have no idea how he got past the security system that is talked about earlier in the book. -Win, the older royal brother shows up to save the day with an alliance and proposes an arranged marriage. -Somehow one of the other brothers who wasn’t even at the house during the “held up at gun point business agreement” is marrying the bad guys older sister. -Also, Tristan is a two pump chump.
What I don’t understand is why the next book is about Dimitri and the nanny. He needs more redemption. We need Rykers book so he can build up the relationship between Dimitri, the nanny, and his relationship with his daughter. Ryker should have been next to build up that story. Right now, I have no desire to read King of Malice after he just tried to traffic Honey and shoot Tristan. He’s not a hero yet.
Tammy is a new author for me and King of Depravity was so good, I loved Killian and Chloe but this book was rushed and lacked character development and emotional connection to the storyline. There was also missed opportunity for her to explore Honeys submission to Tristan in the bedroom. There was some foreshadowing in the beginning about that but then it was never explored with the characters other than him picking out her outfits.

This is a waste of time. The FMC is too stupid to live, and the MMC thinks with his appendage. Coincidentally, as I was reading this, I saw a FB ad for Shandi Boyes’s Vengeful Vows. The scene is the ad was beat for beat a scene from this book, and some of the lines were verbatim. Shandi’s book was published a few months before this one. Draw your own conclusions.
The second story in the Kings of Las Vegas, Lord Triston Smith and Honeyeh Karimi and her teenage brother Darius who struggles with his health. This is about an interracial couple who with their ups and downs find their way to a happy ending. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
the mfc name bothered me so much & it took everything in me to finish it(sorry 😭). her name made her sound like a stripper. might as well named her sugar tits tbh 🤷🏻♀️
-Billionaire -Boss/employee -Insta love -Touch her and die
This is the second book in the series. These books can be enjoyed independently. Each book highlights a different couple, and this one features Honeyeh and Triston.
Honeyeh is the sole care taker for her brother who needs a liver transplant. Only problem they have no insurance. So she must come up with a down payment for the surgery. She has been working hard, but its not enough and the only bargaining chip she has is her virginity. But she will do anything to help save her brother.
Tristan is the head of the family in America. So he has no time for fun or relationships. That is until he meets Honeyeh who is working his brothers wedding. He offers her a job at his home to help around the house. He can't explain it but she intrigues him. But he doesn't have the time for a relationship. But he can't get her out of his mind. Now he must save her from doing something she will regret.
I really wanted to know more about Honeyeh and her family, you know? It felt kinda shallow. And Tristan's background too. Killian's story explained why he was the way he was, which helped me connect. I didn't get that with Tristan. I'm hoping the other brothers get a story too, but so far, it's just little bits and pieces. I want to know more! I'm hoping book three will have more depth. Don't get me wrong, I like the story, I just want more details.
Tristan Smith is a grumpy man who rarely gives in to anyone, especially women. He adheres to a strict one-month relationship rule that seems to work for him—until he meets someone captivating at Killian and Chloe's wedding. This beautiful woman is a close friend of Mason and Charlotte Kincaid, and Tristan knows he shouldn’t get involved.
Meanwhile, Honeyeh Karimi urgently needs a steady job to save for her teenage brother Darius's life-saving surgery. She takes a position in Tristan's home, and he quickly realizes that she is not only beautiful but also genuine. Every moment spent with her deepens his feelings, despite his reluctance to start a relationship.
As the Bratva poses a threat to both Tristan and Mason, they must be cautious. When Honeyeh is betrayed by someone she trusts, Tristan steps in, realizing just how strong his feelings are for her.
With a mix of emotions, tension, and heart, along with a supportive cast including the Duke of Grandmount (Win) and the Smith brothers, this story unfolds rapidly, leaving you with a smile at the end!
This was a underwhelming read — slow to build up, and once it finally reached a turning point, it went from 0 to 100 in a way that made no sense. I won’t be continuing the series.
I wanted more to the story. It was a basic story of maid in the house turned wife. It needed more. Honeyeh turned to the wrong person for money for her brother’s organ transplant and ended up being sold. Triston saved her. Where did Honeyeh’s father go? Why did Killian ask about her father if we weren’t going to get more info right away about him? It seemed that Triston only liked Honeyeh for being obedient and simple and then proposed after 1 week of knowing each other.
Why wasn’t there more discussion about Darius’s disease and options? Why did he need a dead donor? Can’t some people get a partial liver from a living donor? Subtle hints at immigration with Honeyeh and Darius from Iran as children, but wouldn’t there be some government financial assistance even as immigrants because he is a minor? Also, being an organ receiver is a lifelong struggle to accept the foreign tissue with many meds and follow up doctor appointments. Where was the office of staff that supports the process? Where are the prior authorizations to medicaid? Why was Honeyeh a one-person-show and talking directly to Dr Lawrence the whole time? I kept thinking there would be a plot in the background about someone making Darius sick or that Dr Lawrence was part of an illegal organ trafficking situation. None of that happened. Instead it was a “I-saved-you-from-being-trafficked-for-your-virginity-and-now-you’re-mine” story and Honeyeh says “yes, I will marry you.”
Also Win sounds rude, but I’m sure when his story comes out he will be another misunderstood MMC. So Dmitri has some redeeming qualities? The author is writing a book from his point of view with the nanny. Ryker is marrying Dmitri’s sister in the next Smith Brothers series? So Dmitri’s not evil like the previous big bad guys during the Kincaid books since his sister and he have their own books.

The relationship and characters were great. I was definitely invested. However, the author’s ignorance of American politics and the British Aristocracy is glaring. It’s books like this that contribute to the dumbing down of America. She describes “Chairman” as an elected position. The elected position would be Representative in the State Legislature or the House of Representatives, Senator, or even Congressman. With regard to government, Chairman is a position held on a committee. Smith would never be the family’s last name. They should at least have an agricultural income from the Dutchy. The title sounds like the name of a house, not the actual Dutchy. The author states that the eldest brother is the only one who went to private school implying the others went to local public school? It’s a joke. The fact that Tristen has zero security is also laughable. Wow. The list goes on and on. The romance is really good. If the author would write about something she is actually familiar with, she could be really good.
Honeyeh and Triston, he sees her at his brother’s wedding (she is there to help with the setup), and feels an Insta need to meet her. Turns out Honeyeh needs a well paying job to pay some medical expenses. He gives her a job. His inner dialogue indicates he likes her, a lot! She feels insecure in her job and puts herself up in a V-card auction and of course Triston pays and takes her home. Passion follows Lots of external mafia style drama. On top of that no one can quite believe Triston is heading towards giving up his single lifestyle. More passion, love, unresolved external dramas and yes, a happy ending, with an epilogue or two
Tammy Andresen delivers another irresistible installment in the "Lord of Las Vegas" series, shifting the spotlight from the beloved Kincaid family to the enigmatic and dynamic Smith family. This time, the story revolves around Triston Smith, a man of duty, danger, and undeniable charm.
As the second son, Triston grew up as the spare to a dukedom, his life shaped by the weight of responsibility and a fierce need to protect his brothers from their abusive father. This role forged a man who is controlled, cold at times, and bound by strict personal rules. Yet beneath his polished exterior lies a dangerous edge, simmering just beneath the surface. Triston is the epitome of gorgeous, strong, confident, and irresistibly sexy.
Enter Honeyeh, a stunning, compassionate woman whose sole focus is securing the money needed for her brother’s life-saving surgery. Desperation leads her to make a life-altering mistake: agreeing to sell her virginity. But fate intervenes when she crosses paths with Triston.
From the moment they meet, the chemistry between Triston and Honeyeh is electric, instant, intense, and all-consuming. Honeyeh isn’t just the balm to Triston’s hardened soul; she’s the key to unlocking the man buried beneath the armor. She sees past his cool demeanor, effortlessly touching the vulnerable parts he keeps hidden, both in and out of the bedroom. I loved the changes in Tristan as he realized he wants to have a relationship with Honeyeh not just a short tryst.
As secrets unravel and stakes rise, their story transforms into a heart-pounding, page-turning adventure. The emotional rollercoaster is addictive—you’ll find yourself breathless, frantically flipping pages to discover what’s next.
The novel masterfully balances dark, morally grey characters with heartfelt family dynamics. The added presence of the Kincaids and glimpses of Triston’s brothers enrich the narrative, deepening the connection to this captivating world Andresen has created.
Tammy Andresen’s storytelling continues to shine, weaving together romance, suspense, and emotional depth in a way that’s both thrilling and touching. With each new book, I think I've found my favorite—until I read the next one.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was so bad. I don’t even know what to start with.
I expected the whole virgin trope because of the end in the last book has a snippet of the auction scene. But Honeyeh was so freaking naive and innocent it made me roll my eyes a lot and irritated me. It wasn’t cute and sweet, it was just too overdone at this point. She doesn’t get innuendo at all and it’s like WTH!? Is she 5yo? You can be a virgin and still get innuendo and what not. But not sweet little Honeyeh. It was revolting.
Then you have Tristan go from one extreme to the other in a blink. Also ridiculous. Tristan is known as the head of the Vegas brothers since their eldest brother is in England being a duke. Tristan makes dating contracts with women that last no more than 30 days. He doesn’t want commitment. But he wants Honeyeh. Ok I can get behind that trope. But then he saves her from the auction she stupidly signed up for instead of just asking one of the many filthy rich men in her life for a loan, and Tristan goes from he wants sex with Honeyeh a lot to he wants marriage in a day.
The night he saves Honeyeh, she gives him her virginity. They wake up the next day and he tells his brother she’s his girlfriend. Later that night he tells her he loves her and she doesn’t even question it. The next morning, he proposes and she says yes. Like what in the rip off hell is this!? Where did the romance and story go? It was so fast and just so ridiculous. At least Chloe and Killian’s timeline together made WAY more sense, even if it was fast for them too. This went from negative 10 to 1,000 in the matter of a few pages of this story and it just was dumb.
Then you have the sloppy writing on top of this lazy ass story. Veronica, Tristan’s most recent ex-contract girlfriend, has a name change by the author in Ch.16 to Victoria. They call her that for a bit then next time they bring her up again she’s back to Veronica. Like WTH!? Can’t this author at least keep those details straight!? Sloppy and lazy.
I don’t know if the next book will be worth it. I can’t believe how awfully written this one is.
I thought this book was good, it is a very quick read. And because it is short and to the point, I think thats the reason we don’t get a lot of time to really fall in love with the characters or see a lot of development. Reading this book even though it is a standalone I definitely think it would’ve made more sense if I read the first one. I think as a reader we are already supposed to have a connection to some of the characters, because they pop up randomly in scenes and say things that make it seem like we r supposed to know whats happening. Like this Mason and Charlotte make appearances often and there is a reference to a bad professor? Which literally never comes up again but its such a big moment like Mason gets so mad about it so it makes me think its referencing the last book which I did not read. I can also tell that we are going to be able to see all the characters love stories develop. The only problem with this is that if we r eventually supposed to like all of them in their own right, there is never really a villian in the story. Like Dante is a villian in this story but he is really not that bad and even the main character says that at one point when referencing his job and what he does. So when there isn’t really room for strong conflict it kinda leads to a blasé plot line. Like it was a true romance book but the mafia plot was weak, I also repeatedly forgot that this main male character was a duke which I contribute to poor character development. Like we got one chapter of intros and nothing more. We just dived in. But it is a quick read and is not stressful. Overall I wasn’t invested in the storyline- I was actually more interested about some of the other characters in the background, which I feel like I would’ve been better off reading their story but how was I supposed to know
King of Desire by Tammy Andresen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.67 stars)
Tristan Smith doesn’t do love. He doesn’t do feelings. Hell, he doesn’t even do second dates. But when Honeyeh Karimi walks into his mansion with soft eyes, a steel spine, and a heartbreaking reason to be there—his rules don’t stand a chance.
She’s a college student working three jobs, trying to keep her sick little brother alive. He’s a grumpy billionaire heir with mafia ties, an English dukedom, and no intention of getting attached. But then she needs ten grand. Fast. And she’s desperate enough to consider auctioning her virginity to save her brother’s life.
Tristan won’t let that happen.
Their chemistry? Immediate. Their connection? Addictive. Their story? A fever-dream of longing, rescue, soft kisses in hard places, and the kind of protection that feels like worship. Yes, there’s mafia drama. Yes, there’s a psycho Russian villain. And yes, there’s a knight in Armani who doesn’t know how to stop until the girl is safe, loved, and his.
Tropes: grumpy x sunshine, billionaire boss, virgin heroine, auction scenario (but with a twist), forced proximity, found family, mafia romance, protector hero, heroine with a sick sibling, cinnamon roll under the scowl, no third-act breakup, insta-lust to real love
CW: illness (liver disease), virginity auction concept, betrayal, mafia violence, light kidnapping attempt Ending: HEA, soft epilogue, Duke of Grandmount cameo, glowing smiles all around
If you’re into heroes who fall hard, heroines who fight harder, and romance that feels both high-stakes and heartwarming—Tristan and Honeyeh’s story is one you’ll devour in one night flat.
This series just keeps getting more intriguing by the book. I love how Ms. Andresen has overlapped the two families from her prior series, Lords of Las Vegas and this series, Kings of Las Vegas. While you don’t have to read the first series to keep up with this one, I highly suggest it because it’s an outstanding series plus the characters do overlap so you would have a much better understanding of the characters. As for King of Desire, this is Triston Smith’s story, the 2nd oldest of the brothers. He is the glue that runs the Smith brother’s empire in Vegas. He is bound by duty and takes his job very seriously. So seriously that relationships are just not in the cards for him. He’s a known playboy never keeping the same woman in his life for over a month. But when he does a favor and hires a beautiful young woman, Honeyeh as part of his resident’s staff, his life gets turned upside down, and not all in a good way. A woman he soon learns has secrets. But are they secrets he can help with or secrets that just might bring his world tumbling down?
This is a passion driven romance that will have you rooting for a happy ending for everyone involved. But is that even possible or will some go down in flames. The storyline is well written, full of drama, suspense, romance and some very hot moments. A fantastic addition to the series and this reader can’t wait to see what happens with the next Smith brother in the Kings of Vegas series.
Honeyeh Karimi is best friends with Charlotte Kincaid & working her way through college whilst looking after her brother Darius who has a liver complaint. She’s also a lowly maid for Vegas’s most elusive bachelor, Triston Smith. Beautiful women line up to his next girlfriend, despite his ironclad rule. He never dates a woman for more than one month. When my Darius’ chance for a transplant comes up, the surgeon refuses to perform the surgery without a down payment. Ten thousand dollars. Then a coworker tells me how she makes money on the side. It makes my skin crawl, but it might be my only choice. The job? Auction my virginity to the highest bidder. The second book featuring the modern day Smiths & another amazing book by the author. I loved both Triston & Honeyeh there was definitely insta lust but it quickly deepened. Triston is the quintessential playboy, spare to a dukedom & the driving force behind the Smiths’ success, he has rigid self control until he meets Honeyeh. She’s devoted to her younger brother & works her socks off to provide for them & tries to save for Darius’ vital operation. I devoured this engrossing romance in a sitting & finished it well into the night, it was unputdownable & I loved it I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
King of Desire: A Grumpy Billionaire Romance (Kings of Las Vegas Book 2) by Tammy Andresen
I had to do it! Really I had to find out if this Lord Tristan Smith was anything like his great, great namesake….I can only say over history the Smith family seems to have climbed up the ladder and are very very much English Lords!
This grumpy Tristan is not use to giving in to anyone or is that any woman. There is a rule…..one month….it works for him…or does it? Now that the Smith’s are working hand in hand with the Kincaid’s, making deals with the Italians and keeping an eye on the Bratva are on the docket! There is someone that caught Tristan’s eye at Killian and Chloe’s wedding, someone who he can’t shake out of his mind, someone he really shouldn’t play with. Oh Tristan you may be in trouble…that beautiful lady is a dear friend of Mason and Charlotte Kincaid.
Honeyeh Karimi needs a steady job! No she needs a steady job where she can build up a downpayment quickly for her teenage brothers potential surgery. Darius needs lifesaving surgery, Honeyeh needs to find a good job. It looks like she may have just found one with Tristan Smith offering a job working in his home. It doesn’t take Tristen long to realize Honeyeh is not just beautiful, but genuine and he probably shouldn’t start anything with her. However, every minute, every glance at her just enamours him more and more. This is the man who doesn’t do relationships!
With the Bratva giving Tristan and Mason headaches they need to watch out for them. There could be war…and when Honeyeh is tricked by someone she trusts we find that Tristan has bigger feelings for Honeyeh especially when he becomes her knight in a shiney Armania suit!
Bratva leader Dimitri Ivanov needs to learn to not cross the Smith/Kincaid syndicate or who knows what might happen.
Feels, heat, steam, a gentle woman who wins over many, a teenager and The Duke of Grandmount (Win) along with the Smith brothers and Mason Kincaid make this story fly by leaving a huge smile on your face when you’re done!
King of Desire plunges readers into the seductive, dark world of Las Vegas, where Triston Smith, a man forged by duty and danger, meets his ultimate temptation. As a second son raised in shadows, Triston is cold, controlled, and bound by unyielding rules. But when he collides with Honeyeh, a woman desperate to save her brother, their worlds ignite in an electrifying dance of passion and fate.
From the moment they meet, their chemistry is undeniable; raw, intense, and deeply emotional. Honeyeh isn’t just a fleeting distraction; she’s the one woman capable of breaking past Triston’s defenses, offering him a glimpse of something more than just a fleeting affair. As secrets unravel and desires deepen, their journey transforms into a gripping whirlwind of love, sacrifice, and redemption.
This latest installment in the Lord of Las Vegas series delivers heart-pounding romance, morally grey intrigue, and family ties that run deeper than blood. Andresen masterfully balances suspense with sizzling tension, proving once again that every new book in this series is even more addictive than the last. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book definitely stays true to its title because Triston Smith cannot control his desire for Honeyeh Karimi throughout its steamy pages. Triston, a twin to Gris but the second oldest of the Smith brothers and CEO of Smith Enterprises, sees Honeyeh at Killian’s wedding and can’t help himself from offering her a job at his home with possible ulterior motives. Mason Kincaid has made it his business to help and protect Honeyeh because she is an old friend of Mason’s wife Charlotte. Honeyeh is the sole caregiver for her brother who needs a liver transplant and she needs to make money to cover the operation but in an act of desperation she makes a terrible decision that brings the Russian Bratva to Triston’s door. I always enjoy Tammy Andresen’s books and her characters draw me in as they travel into the dark underworlds and face many dangers while falling hard for their women. This book seemed to have more mention of lustful desire than others but it still delivers well on the intrigue and on the emotional content too. I received an Advance Review Copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ok, not liking the name Honeyeh. It sounds weird saying it in my head when I read it. She does tell you how to pronounce it in a dialog with another character. But still, it sounds odd in my head.
Honeyeh is strong, determined and has gone thru a lot in her life. She stands up for herself and makes hard decisions in order to take care of her sick brother. At first, Triston sees her as a victim, helpless and in need of protection. He does fall first but doesn’t realize what’s happening to him. But all his brothers do. Triston is a strong protagonist, and when he realizes how hard he’s fallen for Honeyeh, he’d do anything to keep her, including risk his relationship with his brothers and the Kincaid.
I love the appearances of Killian and Gris, and Mason Kincaid and a couple other characters from previous books. There’s no cheating and it did seem like there would be an annoying 3rd act breakup. I mean, it was headed there and I was ready to roll my eyes. But no, that did not happen and I’m pleased with how the author used the possibility of one to move this couple to their HEA. Can’t wait for Dimitri’s story next.
