And the plot thickens.

It can be said the first two volumes where merely introductory and volume three is were things start to pick up. The character's storylines begin to overlap and it's interesting to follow their conflicts.

I remember the first time i finished this volume i thought "oh, this isn't going to be your usual yaoi".

Well, shit’s going down. Things are far more complicated than I first thought and I just don’t see how this is gonna resolve.

On one hand we have the heir of the mafia group betraying his own with the help of the leader of the Hebi group. And a helpless Tetsu, who cannot do anything to help his bff. We also see Yuki recognizing Hyoudou as his parent’s friend, while this old man saw the burned scars in Yuki’s back. Jun, without knowing, met the Hebi leader when he was looking after his ill sister.

A war is coming and like I said, I just don’t know how many people are gonna get killed. One question remains: how can someone protect what’s important to them?

Read it for the #JPLitReadathon.

Ah, I love it! Hyoudo taking care of yuki has got to me my favorite parts. An old friend of his parents promising to take care of this child and looking for that child non-stop? Ah, my heart. Tetsu has been feeling so down that I feel as if this story might lead to him doing something very wrong unintentionally. I really hope not, he wants the best for yuki but will do without thinking. I’m glad jun is getting better. He looked so cute walking about all happy. That man is reall suspicious though.

Some nice reveals but still many secrets. A bunch of subplots coming in and out. How will this turn out in the end? 🤔

“I failed miserably at attempting to distance myself before I’d be the one to get hurt. I thought I was getting used to partings. Until I realized I wasn’t accustomed at all to be the one to let go.”

4/5 stars. Things are definitely getting interesting and I can see a bit more clearly how each characters story overlaps with the others. There’s some nice continuity to every subplot. Things are looking bleak for most of these characters, there’s betrayal in the works with Yuki, Hyodo, and Wang. There’s probably going to be a dark route to Tetsu’s arc. I don’t know what’s really going on with Reiji and Masatsugu, but there’s something definitely happening there.
My silver lining is my I hope that Jun is safe and never ever in danger, ever.

“Pretend it was a bad dream. Forget it all. The time I spent with you. I’ll remember it so you forget. I’m sorry. Thank you. Goodbye.”

:(

Tetsu was unable to do anything as Yuki walked away. Which leaves him very unsettled because all he wants is to be at his side. All he wanted was to help and protect him.

So, Wang is using Yuki to get at Hyodo. And I really don’t like that this man is literally using Yuki, I just don’t like him in general, please stay 50 feet away from Yuki at ALL times.

Ryouji knows Hyodo because he used to be in a gang. He nearly died but Hyodo saved him. After that time Yuki and Tetsu tried to rob him, the real reason Hyodo didn’t kill them was because he was looking for Yuki. Lucky for him, Yuki just walked right into his life.

Oh okay, Yuki’s father was the one who asked Hyodo to take care Yuki. Interesting. So will they be like a father-son dynamic? And if so, it will definitely complicate the fact that Wang wants to betray and hurt Hyodo through Yuki. Also, I want to know exactly what that’s about. Regardless, this is bound to get ugly for all three of them.

Reiji runs into Jun, and he tells Jun something that is very reminiscent of the situation Tetsu is in.

“The weak become victims of the strong. Sooner or later they realize that they’re powerless they think, ‘I want power’”

Is Tetsu going to go to the dark side or something? Will he end up joining a gang too? I’m worried.

The "Acid Town" series is brilliant - it is dark, full of twisting and turning story-lines, secrets, and hidden pasts. Keeping the characters separated in your head is easy - everyone has a unique and different look about them, and their personalities are just as such.

Let me be completely honest, here. The reason the rating is rising, is due to the fact that the focus has began to shift from Yuki to Tetsu, further to Reiji (or more commonly known as scar-face). Tetsu, unlike Yuki, possesses some semblance of a personality, as well as a very interesting conflict (which is more common to the genre (also, something that makes him more capable of being liked by the reader).

Now, for Rei - I could go on for decades about how Rei's character is interesting, how he has a dual personality, how his interactions with Yuki's brother are as sweet as mochi...but I'll leave that for the next volume, where the majority of the action involving him happens.

Hot very boring and sort of political at the end. Not focussing on the genre at all. Which is disappointing. I picked it up because of its genre.
