Lawn service provider Will Finnegan's sudden death isn't considered a murder until someone's scissors are stabbed into the corpse's chest at his wake.

Carol is asked by the police chief to help Det. Paul Wheeler and her son-in-law Det. Mark Anderson to help her solve Will's death after she helped solve the local jewellery robberies and break-ins.

Recipes for an Irish Wake are included at the end of the book.

Another fun-filled Baby Boomer cozy.

This series definitely falls in the humorous cozy category. Usually that is my favorite genre. Sadly I have to struggle to get through books in this series. Not because they’re bad; they’re not. Which makes the problem doubly frustrating. It boils down to the author all but exhausting me making sure I know this is a FUNNY story. I’m sure some like the writing style of having the main character break the fourth wall and speak directly to the reader. To me it comes across as a desperate attempt to force humor into the story. Especially the “I didn’t really say that” gambit appearing on average every 12 pages -yes, I counted.

Basing the series on post retirement Baby Boomers gives it a built-in niche audience. The author crafts a good story. She has developed a very good core group of characters. The books should be hitting on all cylinders. Instead 3 stars from me is probably generous.

Funerals Can Be Murder Book 5 in the Carol and Jim Andrews Baby Boomer Mysteries

Carol against gets involved with the death of a handsome victim who knew everyone in the community as a landscaper. Carol gets the clues to his death and struggles with cooperation with the police, but helps them find the killer anyway. Humor and commitment to family plays a key in this mystery. The reader will enjoy it.

Very good.

Again you get to know the main characters more. The story was very good. I thought that the murderer was a girl friend and had opportunity to kill Will with the type of work she did. God bless you you certainly can write a murder mystery. Thanks again. I look forward to another of your books. Found you by accident.

Much better

Really enjoyed this one-- the plot was intriguing and it kept twisting and turning. The idea of a Romeo and his "just desserts " along with Carolyn 's super-sleuthing ideas kept me interested until the end.

Funerals Can Be Murder

Carol Andrews and friends are busy again...this time a corpse has been stabbed just prior to his Wake--guess who sees him first 😁
Well developed characters are consistent in actions. Plot with twists will keep you guessing who really 'did it'!

Very enjoyable.

Very enjoyable, funny with surprising twists. Characters are warm, likeable and eccentric. Unexpected but satisfying conclusion. I will read more of the books in this series.

This book is 5th in a series about Carol and Jim Andrews. It is written in 1st person and like she is talking to you. Carol goes to a wake for her new lawn service man and sees him in the coffin with a scissors in his heart. She goes through several things to find the murderer. The book has several funny scenes in it.

Love love love this series

Probably because I'm a boomer. I can relate to the characters so well including the weight gain in the later years. And the best part of all of these is the helpful studs at the end. And the quotes. All of it. Great read for a bath or home sick or travel. Looking forward to the next one.

I love this series. I look forward to the next one as soon as I finish one. This one seemed to make Carol, the main character, out as a bit silly. Nothing I can out my finger on and it could be my mood. I still look forward to the next one.

I had read previous books in this series and enjoyed them. This one kind of reminded me of some of Evanovich's layer Stephanie novels in that the author seemed to have kind of phoned it in. A good travel read, though, nevertheless.

Loved it...but then, I have loved all of Susan Santangelo's books so far. And I don't expect that opinion to change.
