Jack, A multi-billionaire Member from Money and CEO of a Real Estate development firm renowned for successful high end builds be they malls or luxury apartments, was still suffering from a less than stellar childhood with an abusive father and an overly submissive mother. Add to that dynamic a child conceived in one of his flings left with him by a woman who had the child to have a payday. Into the mix comes college educated Zuri sister to her twin brother Zach. Together they run the sports bar that has been in their family for decades following the death of their beloved father. Zuri was no stranger to heartache from not having a mother since their mother perish giving birth to her and her twin. Having a vision for their business and a sharp and observant eye, Zuri spotted an under aged teen boy trying his best to not cause a disturbance. Sitting was a young man who stirred up the maternal instincts in her. She befriended the lonely teen who was looking for his father's love and attention. After butting heads which led to hot lovemaking, Jack and Zuri fell in love and so did Zuri's brother and her best friend. True love healed a whole passel of hurt in this story and yes it all worked out very well in the end. I like Jack and Zuri's story very much.
This is a book that I really enjoyed reading. There is plenty of chemistry. I enjoyed these characters they are so captivating and great together. with lots of drama and emotions with these characters. Zuri is a beautiful and very out spoken. Jack is very successful but everyone feels he cold and very controlling even with his son. Plus it has some very intriguing twists and then you have their sizzling passion that's full of love. When Jack and Zuri meets for the first time Zuri stands up to Jack as no one has ever done this has serious consequences that's unexpected and just so adorable. Their relationship is explosive with loads of tension. But they find everlasting love. I must say this is truly a fantastic story and I'm fan of this author and if you are like myself you will enjoy this story because even the supporting characters are awesome with great chemistry. It's makes a thrilling romance that will bring a smile to your heart which is such a delightful and a pleasurable experience. There is one thing I am happy for and that is there's more books too read because I hated for this awesome story to be the last. This is a story that's worth ten stars.
It’s a fact that you can’t choose who you fall in love with, Zuri was extraordinarily beautiful with a big heart and a vivacious personality… when the teenage boy showed up in her and brother’s bar trying to pass for older, she became friend with the boy and gave him a listening ear. However, his father was different can of fish… Jack wasn’t an easy man to deal with, he was unyielding to everyone including his own teenage son… when Zuri stood up to him defending Jason, and accused Jack of his horrible way of parenting or lack if it … he was beyond furious & he found himself attracted to her well. Crazy, right!? He fought it with everything he got and as for Zuri, the attraction took her by surprise but she is anything but a coward, do she faced it … The heart wants what the heart wants… !! My heart hurts for Jason and I am so glad he found Zuri … !! Loved it! Btw. Their ages weren’t revealed… how old are Jack, Zuri and her brother?
The dynamic between Zuri and Jason was a little weird…
I just found it a little weird how much the author emphasized how attractive 14 year old Jason found Zuri throughout the entire book. There was even an instance where the author described his “physical” reaction to Zuri. It didn’t help matters that she had Zuri feeling “flattered that a teenager finds her attractive”. A young teenage boy, that she saw as a son. Throughout the book Jason’s crush on her was mentioned multiple times but when his father (Jack) brought her home to tell him that they were together, he immediately asked if he could call her mom?? Like imagine if the genders were reversed and Jason was a teenage girl and Zuri was a grown man. It would be weird, just like it’s weird here.
Twins, chemistry was off the charts from beginning to end. Started differently from your other books, but the magic kicked in with a blast, twin blast. You included them in relationships, without detracting from the heat and heart of this novel. Simply loved how you brought Zuri and Jack together, Jason' s reaction and words when they finally got together were spot on. Wish there had been more interaction with Jason and his baby sister. Still a five star!!!!!
Just No. They fall in love by having sex could they have not have conversations that were actually meaningful? MML was a s**t father for fourteen years and we’re just supposed to sweep that under the rug cause now after wanting to be physically violent towards the FML for every interaction once they had sex it magically changed him and his poor son got a dad….. Only persons age we are told is the son’s, I honestly don’t know what the characters actually looked like. Just not good.
I enjoyed reading the love story of Zach and Zuri. It began with a heated argument regarding Zach's son and developed into lust then love. This book contains heartbreak, abandonment, cruel punishmet, determination, persistence, dreams, hope, Faith and allowing love to prevail. I love Katie Dowe's series but the last two books are not her unusual style of writing. I hope the next novel149 is back up to her standards. I will continue to recommend her books to everyone I know!!!!!!
At first, the story felt open to misinterpretation—blurring the line between a misguided teenage crush, unhealed rage, and the scars of a violent past. Zuri’s longing for a family and Jack’s harshness, shaped by his own upbringing, made the early chapters feel tense and unsettling.
But as the layers peeled back, clarity replaced confusion. The characters confronted their pain, understood each other’s truths, and chose connection over conflict. In the end, it became a story about redemption, healing, and how love—against all odds—conquers all.
Another great story from Katie This story centered on Jack who was a distant single parent and Zuri who was longing for a family They eventually found each other and a love they didn’t think possible Jason the son was a good addition to the story You will definitely enjoy this one
I love Zahra attitude, she didn’t take any crap and a defender of the young and weak. Makes me think of my daughter she is the same way. For a minute the way Jack & Zahra was going at it I thought they were going to have twins. Truthfully it was a beautiful romance and I enjoyed it very much.
The story is good but once you realize you’re 90% into the book and the main characters are still fighting to be together you know the happily ever after is going to be three paragraphs, and that sucks for us readers. Don’t drag the story and rush the HEA. That’s what some of us come for.
Zuri’s sunshine scattered Jack’s gloom! And the son bringing them together was a great storyline, not a meet cute but a meet clash! That angsty, swoony chemistry ate, as the kids say!
Well where to begin, what a beautiful story. Jack have to thank his son,for running away to Meet surie, because he never would met up with The fire 🔥cracker,Jack met his match.
Zuri and Jack, bumped heads from the her go. Jack had a major attitude toward Zuri. Zuri is a strong independent woman. Jack despised her openness as well it turning him on. The two of them had undeniable chemistry!! True love prevails
