Gilli is in trouble and doesn't know what to do other than run. Because that's what her mom did so.....She runs to her stepdad's cabin in Jersey. Only she's not alone. Her step brother Soren, step cousin Aiden and friend are in town too.
75% in and no sex. Just a build up for what is to come. For me this is not dark romance. There were no trigger warnings. She gets spanked...I kept waiting for it to get dark.
20 year old Gilli needs to make money to pay her college tuition loans and credit card debts, so while she works as a vet clinic, her side job is a cam girl. After some people were after her, she went to hide out in her estranged stepfather Alastair's cabin where she didn't think it be occupied by her stepbrother Soren who is in real estate and his cousin Aiden the football coach and the veterinarian that she thought she wanted nothin to do with her Tase. Once a year, Soren and Aiden go to the cabin by the lake to have a boy's weekend, and Tase joins them he was their best friend from college and lives around the area. But if they find out what she does for her side gig and why those people are after her, it could ruin what she has. Her three men will protect her at all cost, Aiden is sweet and sincere with some secrets of his own, Tase is protective and loyal, while Soren is brooding and sharp edge. There are definitely some plot twists and secrets in this book that I didn't see comin. This is a good read. It will definitely have u hooked from beginning to end.
Complicated characters, bold choices, and a twist I didn’t see coming.
This book took a few chapters to settle into, but once the dynamics started unfolding, I couldn’t look away. Gillian isn’t the easiest main character to love — she’s messy, emotionally guarded, and makes some questionable choices — but that’s also what made her feel real. You don’t always agree with her, but you get her.
The guys each brought their own energy to the story: Aiden is the comforting presence, sweet and sincere. Tase is a little I ntense and overprotective, sometimes frustrating but loyal. And then there’s Soren — sharp-edged, brooding, and unexpectedly the first to break the tension. I genuinely didn’t see that coming.
There were some pacing issues and moments that felt emotionally underexplored, but the overall tension, character dynamics, and plot twists kept me invested. Definitely a good read.
I had the absolute pleasure of diving into Cam Girl by Melanie Kingsley — a dark, emotionally charged, and wildly addictive reverse harem romance that hooked me from the very first page.
Gillie, our heroine, is raw and relatable in a way that hit me personally. Her struggles with self-worth, body image, and believing she could ever be "enough" for someone else felt heartbreakingly real. Melanie Kingsley does an incredible job layering her insecurities with moments of strength and sass, making her a character you want to root for.
After a terrifying online threat turns into a violent home invasion, Gillie runs from everything she knows, seeking refuge at her estranged stepfather’s remote lake cabin. What she doesn’t expect is to find it already occupied by her distant, broody stepbrother Soren, his charming cousin Aiden, and their mutual friend Tase, the local small-town veterinarian.
The tension between Gillie and the three men builds beautifully. Each one brings a different kind of comfort, heat, and emotional support to her life. Soren carries that forbidden, enemies-to-lovers edge; Aiden brings lightness and playful charm; and Tase is the steady, quietly protective presence every broken heroine deserves.
One thing I loved? The sharp, witty dialogue. Pop culture nods and casual banter gave levity to an otherwise dark, high-stakes plot, and made the characters feel like people you’d actually know. The book pulls no punches when it comes to its darker themes — stalking, trauma, and the ache of loneliness — but it never felt gratuitous. Instead, it wove these issues into Gillie’s journey of healing and self-acceptance.
Pacing? Absolute perfection. It starts with a one-two punch of danger and intensity and doesn’t let up. I devoured this book in one sitting and honestly wished it was longer, because I wasn’t ready to let these characters go.
The ending was surprisingly sweet and satisfying, wrapping up Gillie’s arc in a way that left me smiling — though I wouldn’t complain if Melanie gifted us more from this world.
Would I recommend it? 1000%. Dark romance lovers and reverse harem fans will eat this up. Just be ready for spice, angst, found family, and a whole lot of feels.
I received an arc of this book and really wasn’t sure what to expect since I hadn’t even heard of this author before, but it blew my mind! Between the angst, chemistry, spice and suspense, I couldn’t put this book down!
The story follows Gilli, a young vet tech student, who turns to being a cam girl after hours in order to pay for her schooling. She ends up being threatened by one of her viewers, who ends up stalking and attacking her, so she has to leave everything behind and run for safety. Having no real family to turn to for help, she flees to her stepfather’s cabin, which she discovers is already occupied by her broody stepbrother who hates her, his happy go lucky cousin, and their charming friend who lives close by. She decides to stay anyway since she has nowhere else to turn, and these men become her protectors against a threat that is still lurking in the shadows.
This was definitely slow burn, but once things heat up between them…fire!!! It was impossible not to fall in love with each of these men, and the spicy scenes were hot!! Melanie did a fantastic job introducing each character and sharing their backstories, and I loved that the book was written in each character’s POV.
I love a good reverse harem, why choose trope, and this certainly delivered. And the ending – wow – I was not expecting that! It certainly ends with a bang!!!
Be sure to read the bonus epilogue! If reading the KU version, there is a link at the end of the book that takes you to it. I enjoyed this added little perk!
Fav Quotes:
"If Soren is gasoline on my flames, then Aiden is the fireplace, making sure the flames remain together and safe, warming for the soul."
"He's licking me like the best ice cream he's ever had."
"The kiss pierces something inside of me. It's like a shock, like I've stuck my finger in a light socket, and if I wasn't already lying on my back, my legs would surely have buckled."
"She's mine to ruin. Not some faceless asshole who thinks that money can buy him anything he wants, including another person's peace. If anyone is going to make her undone, it's me."
"How the hell did I go from hating her to wanting to burn the world down for her?"
Wow this book blew my expectations out of the roof, SO good! It ended up being so much more intense, suspenseful, and in depth then I expected. I could not put it down! Without a doubt a must read.
The chemistry and character development with the characters was superb! We had the slow build up between each of them in such a good way. I felt each character got good POV in the story in as well, our girl of course being the main focus.
Gillian is a vet tech by day and a cam girl by night until one evening on one of her cam vids some guy goes psycho stalker and threatens her on it. Next morning three guys show up at her apartment trying to grab her but she manages to escape. On the run she goes to her step-fathers and mothers cabin, which she thinks no one will be at. When she gets there though her step brother Soren and his cousin Aiden are there. Their friend Tase also shows up later. Fight it all they want they all think she's hot.
Soren, Aiden and Tase are a dream. I loved each and every one of their personalities. Soren was such a grumpy, hard on everyone especially Gilli, and just deeply emotional guy. He had a lot of emotional trauma but under it all he was protective and sweet. Aiden from the start was someone you could always lean on and trust but also the life of the party. He also had some deep scars in his past and pain. Tase was like the shy man who just wanted to be loved and I just found him so adorable. He had lost his wife a few years ago so he had some heartbreak. They were some fiiiine book boyfriends.
The suspenseful parts had me gripping. I was literally on the edge of my seat and thinking oh my gawd! Throughout a few scenes! So intense! Definitely had my heart racing too. You knew eventually things would happen but you don't think what happened would happen let me just say that. You will be shocked.
If you want a super spicy read this definitely has you covered as well. It is hot, hot, hot in here. Highly recommend this book as a must read full of suspense, depth, love and spice.
Gilli’s story is one that lingers. It’s raw, vulnerable, and utterly absorbing. Her struggles with body image and self-worth were portrayed with unflinching honesty and surprising moments of bravado and strength. She’s a vet tech by day, cam girl by night, doing what she must to chase her dreams of veterinary school, until her world is shattered by a chilling stalker encounter that forces her into hiding. Fleeing to her estranged stepfather’s remote cabin, the last thing she expects is to find it already occupied by three men who will completely upend her life. Her broody stepbrother Soren, his fun-loving cousin Aiden, and their friend Tase — the town’s quiet veterinarian — bring layers of tension, comfort, and sizzling chemistry to the page. The slow-burn buildup between Gilli and each of the men is beautifully written, with care and intention. Soren is the gruff, emotionally walled-off grump who carries a strong enemies-to-lovers vibe. Aiden shines with his light-hearted mischief and warmth, the kind of guy who pulls you back from the edge with a smile. And Tase is all calm strength and steady hands. the quietly protective presence every girl longs for. Each one brings a different kind of comfort, heat, and emotional support to her life. The emotional depth is matched by razor-sharp dialogue that sparkles with wit and gives the dark, high-stakes plot some much-needed levity. The suspense had me clutching the edge of my seat. It’s intense, twisty, and oh-so-satisfying. The book doesn’t shy away from its heavier themes, using them as fuel for Gilli’s journey of resilience and self-acceptance. The result is a dark romance that packs both emotional punch and spicy tension in equal measure. If you love reverse harem, slow-burn tension, and stories about healing, found family, and second chances, this one will absolutely consume you. Just be warned: it’s equal parts heat, angst, and hope — and you’ll feel every bit of it.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It was a lot more emotional than I expected. I devoured this book in a day. There was so much more than just steam in this why-choose, I couldn't wait to see what happened next.
Gilli works hard and goes to school to be a Vet but her bills are out of control so she works at night as a cam girl to make the extra money that she needs. She doesn't enjoy the work but is doing it to get by. She gets extremely threatening messages one night and is fearful of her life. Her place gets broken into by three attackers and she manages to get away.
Gilli recalls her absent mother's wealthy husband has a cabin that is vacant and decides to hide out there. Shortly after she arrives her stepbrother Soren is trying to get her to leave. Soren has a chip on his shoulder because Gilli's mother stole his father away from his mother.
Aiden is also at the cabin with Soren. He is his cousin and is trying to keep the peace. He quickly tries to befriend Gilli but he finds he wants a lot more than friendship with her.
Their long-time friend and town veterinarian Tase is a grumpy widower but quickly finds he is attracted and protective over Gilli.
It takes a while for the spice to spice but it's HOT. I liked how the characters were developed and came together.
‘Cam Girl’ was so much bigger than I was expecting. More intense. More complex. More fulfilling. Just … MORE.
Gilli struck gold with Aiden, Tase, and, yes, even Soren. That gold may have disguised itself as fool’s gold initially, but, 24k gold it proved itself to be. They fought hard as F for that happily ever after!
As a side note: I have kids. I love my kids. But, it’s refreshing to see no accidental pregnancies with a reverse harem. Well done, author Melanie Kingsley!

A contemporary RH full of chemistry and intense emotions
This is a dark, steamy romance that doesn't hold back. When it heats up, it really heats up!
The story dives deep into serious, often triggering topics, exploring how trauma affects individuals and those around them. It also shows the power of resilience and the fight to overcome past pain.
The characters are complex and perfectly imperfect: - A stepbrother who’s the bully - A step-cousin who’s sweet and funny - A close friend — the protective, 'daddy' doctor And at the center, a girl who is: - A survivor - A fighter - A young adult forced to grow up too fast
But these labels are only the surface — each character has layers waiting to be uncovered. All of them carry heavy baggage and dark memories. With so many emotional walls built up, they must learn to lean on each other and slowly tear those walls down.
This book beat all the expectations I had going in. Gilli is a vet tech who is also a Cam Girl at night until some creep decides to take things further than behind the camera and send people after her. With no choice but to run for her safety, she ends up at a family lake house.
What Gilli doesn't know is that her rich, grumpy stepbrother is going to very staying there with his cousin Aiden. Add in their friend Tase, who is a local vet who comes over after work to hang out with his buddies.
They all become suspicious of the real reason Gilli is there and won't leave. Plus, on top of that, each of the MMCs are starting to feel things for her that they normally don't. The chemistry is definitely real between her and the guys.
Melanie Kingsley added the right amount of chemistry, even if it is a slow burn with lots of edging. She added enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat and ready to cheer or scream at any moment.
3.5 ⭐️ Pros: The dialogue book was well done. It helped to bring the characters to life and made the interactions feel authentic. The author's writing style is engaging and smooth, making it easy to stay immersed in the story from start to finish. I appreciated how much of an easy read this was, which made reading feel less like a chore. The spice was done very well.
Cons: It started off really slow. It was very repetitive: "I have curves" I hate my stepbrother/sister, I hate my mom, I hate my dad. Repeat." I wish the stalker aspect was explored more in depth. They went from frustrated hatred to passionate love (jump in front of bullet for you) super fast. That needed more build up. It was hard to buy in to the romance.
Overall: I enjoyed this read and would definitely recommend.
A girl with dreams and the only way to get to her goal is to do some cam work to make money easier. She's by no means a wild girl who does things on a whim and has no regrets, but when you need money, you need money. But in her case, she gets a scare of her life and decides to run and hide.
She ends up in her step brother's cabin, but what wasn't expecting is to find her step brother and his cousin stopping in for a few weeks either. Her step brother hates her because his dad married her mom (not like it was her idea)! But she is stuck now dealing with them and bickering with her step brother.
I felt like it dragged a bit and the action didn't come in until towards the end. The book was basically about her, her step brother, his cousin and their good friend. I just felt like it took me way too long to finish it.
This book was SO GOOD. I love how Melanie Kingsley built up each character individually by switching pov throughout the book. I felt emotionally invested in all 4 of the main characters right from each one’s entrance into the story. The only thing I wish is that there could have been more smut! I felt like she built such smoldering, vivid feelings between all the characters but there was never really any scenes that felt like all 4 were really invested and participating together - it rather felt like they were just waiting turns (smut-wise speaking). Aside from that little critique, this book was fantastic!
Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars - Gilli’s stint as a cam girl leaves her at wit’s end after a lifethreatening turn she never saw coming. Running to hide out at one of her mother’s properties, she did not realize that she would be keeping company with a very antagonistic stepbrother, one she had not seen since her mom’s wedding. But now she had to share the cabin with two other men especially since she refused to leave, since it was their yearly getaway destination. This forced proximity RH had stepsibling misplaced resentment/revenge drama, steamy moments, and very real danger and suspense.
Cam Girl by Melanie Kingsley is a gripping, addictive standalone that blends danger, desire, and forbidden tension with razor sharp pacing. The cabin setting crackles with secrets as Soren’s brooding resentment, Aiden’s charming mystery, and Tase’s guarded intensity collide around a heroine running from more than her past. The stakes feel real, the chemistry burns, and the suspense keeps pages turning. Kingsley delivers emotional depth alongside dark romance tropes fans love, without losing heart. If you enjoy taboo dynamics, morally gray men, and a heroine fighting for survival and love, Cam Girl is an unmissable, binge worthy read that lingers long after.
Gilli is living a carefree life enjoying her side job when a creep causes her to run for safety. She ends up at her stepfather cabin she thinks she is alone until her stepbrother and his cousin pop up.. there is a lot of hostility between her stepbrother and her.. gilli is trying to figure out what to do to stay safe. Her stepbrother and his cousin and their friend is trying to pry the answers from gilli while falling in love with her. Then when Gilli has decided it time to go her world is flipped upside down by what she is running from…
Gillian is a Cam Girl and when she gets threating messages and then her apartment is broken into where can she go to hide. She goes off the grid to her stepfathers fishing cabin thinking nobody would be there. But what happens when she gets there and her stepbrother, Soren, and his cousin, Aiden, are both there? Soren and Gillian have always seemed to hate each other and keep going at each other. Aiden is helpful and likes her. She also goes into town and meets the hot vet Tase. What happens when all three boys find out the truth of why she is there? Do their relationships change? Do the men after her find her? Does she chose one guy or more?
I absolutely loved this book and I hated for it to end. These characters were intriguing and well developed. The plot was also well developed. There were unique twists and turns in this book and the characters battling each other was interesting. I look forward to more books by this author.
WOW!! This book was so much more than I thought it was going to be going into it! It was intense, powerful and emotional, on top of being empowering and oh so sexy. Gilli is the type of FMC we need more of…she’s been through it, but she’s genuine and found a way to embrace the things she doesn’t truly love about herself. I love Soren, Aiden and Tase so much…they are all so different but each bring something to the relationship that Gilli really needs. This book surprised me in the best of ways and I highly recommend you check it out!!
Maybe it’s just me but it took me a couple of days to finish it. I almost dnf this one coz i think it’s not for me. But convincing myself for a few more chapters and I’m good. It has a lot of bad decisions, miscommunications and misunderstanding situations. I would sometimes hate Gilli for being stubborn and just won’t listen. I absolutely love Aiden🥰 that male is so patient with her, stupid Soren and the understanding Tase. Love their mixed of personalities. And their love for Gillian is everything. Thank you for gracing me with this book author🥰
This was so good it’s a spicy why choose about a woman running from danger and the men who want to protect her. Love the characters Gilli is sweet, resilient, a fighter, determined and sassy I enjoyed seeing her go head to head with Soren. The guys were great I liked how sweet Aiden and Tase were and once Soren got his head out of his head seeing the three of them work together to protect her and help her overcome her insecurities. I enjoyed their ending seeing them make a wonderful life for themselves and spoil Gilli.
Not many of us could dream of being loved and accepted by three amazing men, but somehow our girl makes it happen. A young and desperate girl finds her way into a trio of men- in physicality, emotional intellect, and overall demeanor. Learning to navigate each relationship successfully while also learning how they collectively work was such a refreshing read!
I devoured Gilli's story!! Right away I was addicted! The book had some suspense and danger almost right away. In addition there was drama, lots feels, sexual tension, and spice. I absolutely adored Gilli. She was sweet and hard working. Her insecurities made her relatable and overall loveable. Soren, Aiden, and Tase, her love interests. Maybe not at first. 😉 I liked each of them. The author does a great job making them unique and each of them offering Gilli something she needs.
Right off the start, poor Gilli. She is so strong and brave. With her side hustle as a cam-girl causes Gilli to run because of a creep, she runs to the cabin owned by her step-father where she sees her stepbrother, his cousin and friend. Tension is thick and while they are trying to get answers from her, Gilli is not wanting to say anything.
Melanie Kingsley, thank you so much for Cam Girl, I loved each and every second of it.
This book pulled me in almost immediately. The tension between the characters is thick, layered, and emotionally charged, and I loved how nothing felt simple or safe. The cabin setting added such an intense, almost claustrophobic vibe that made every interaction feel sharper. What stood out most was the heroine’s inner conflict watching her juggle fear, desire, and survival kept me turning pages. Dark, addictive, and surprisingly emotional.
I definitely didn't expect quite the depth that this book delivered, in the best way!
suspense ✔️ emotion ✔️ spice ✔️✔️
I loved the character development! Gillian is both loveable and fierce. The first half is on the mid-burn side. Also not in a bad way. I really enjoyed this one!
The story was entertaining and had some good spice. However, I didn’t love it. The characters were okay but I would have liked to see more there was little bits of back story thrown in randomly for no reason with no real purpose. The story dragged on for the quickest conclusion at the end. I really liked the idea but the execution wasn’t it.
it's been a long time since a book has captured my attention as much as this one has. I read it in less than a day because I couldn't put it down. looking forward to reading more from Melanie Kinsley. she sure does no how to capture you attention.
Gotta say I wanted to punch Sorren in the D quite a few times throughout the book! And I was heartbroken at the scene of Aiden’s knee, but it was really good and very easily relatable to my life in different aspects in each of the characters that it tugged in all the right places!
