Twin Dragons
Melina Franklin was barely sixteen when she and her grandfather were kidnapped from their small farm in Georgia by an alien trader and sold to an Antrox mining asteroid in deep space. Mistaken for a young boy, she lives in fear of being found out and sold. Her only companionship for the next four years is her grandfather and the Pactors, the large creatures used for hauling the mining ore, that she takes care of. Calo and Cree Aryeh have been secured as the personal guards for Creon Reykill’s mate, Carmen Walker. The twin brothers are a rare species of dragon known for their fierceness in battle. Born to the mystic dragon clan of the Northern Mountains, they have given their allegiance to the Dragon Lords vowing to serve and protect the royal family and their new true mates. The brothers know they will never be able to have a true mate of their own. Never in the history of their clan have twin dragons been able to find a mate capable of handling two male dragons. They can only hope that they die in battle so they are not destined to be caged when the loneliness eventually drives their dragons insane.

I had my eye a long time on this series. Lately I've been going through my wish list of books to read and what would you know I'd find. It pains me to say that this book's been waiting on me to read it for almost two and half years. Yes, I'm bad but there are always so many good books to read.
Anyway, I'm glad I've finally read it and saw what the fuss was all about. To be honest I didn't expect the world and characters to look the way they did. When you think of aliens, you'd usually see a weird creature but in this story, the aliens are actually beautiful dragons and to top it all, you don't just get one fine looking male, no, you get two! Which is a bonus by itself, but when paired with an unusual female, the story gets even more interesting. I'm not giving away any plot but let's just say that their mate knows how to use a shovel and ain't afraid to knock some sense in people, literally.
All main characters fit with each other and have something that completes them as a whole. They have a tough road ahead of them but that makes the story for what it is. There's emotion, action, misunderstandings and so much more.
The only thing that did bother me was how the big misunderstanding at the end of the book was solved. Or should I say, wasn't solved. Had that happened on Earth, you'd get the chair! So the solution the author chose was for me way to injust. Had it been me, the wrongdoers would be either dead or in excruciating pain.
All in all, the story is good and I will definitely give this series a chance.

I hate it when authors introduces characters from other series in a new one. Especially from series that I have no interest in reading. Forcing me to read something just to understand what they are talking about, is just wrong.
Nah, man. I won’t do it.
This is one of the things that puts me off a book.
This book had a great start. Until they start talking about Ha’ven. As in Ha'ven's Song, which I didn’t like at all (probably because they were mentions of other series and I had no idea what was going on), and as I mentioned before, this things put me off a book.
My expectations instatly dropped with this one.
The middle of the book was a mess, and I admit that I liked Melina better when she didn’t talk.
The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the promising start and the last 5% of it.
I’m so very scared of reading more books by this author. I don’t understand why bother starting a new series if everything is linked anyway? Why not just make a very long, long one, so you won’t confuse ignorant readers like me.

1.5 "Repetitious" stars
...the first 40% of the book is repetition from previous books.... Boring!!! The second half was torturous as the heroine runs from and rejects the twin dragons.
To top all that, the sex wasn't hot. I mean I was really looking forward to some sexy dragon menage action.

This is one of those side stories that popped up through the series. Having those brooding twins meet their match was fun to see in Carmen's book. We had just enough hints to see things coming. It was interesting seeing those same events from the inside with this book. It did make a few things in the beginning seem to go slower. I just wanted to fast forward to the moment they knew she was a girl and what happened after.
There are no major twist in this book, it is more about the trio than any serious plot drama. Most of the big bad stuff was resolved and not really a part of this story. There is another conflict presented by the nature of them as twin dragons. Apparently, twin dragons never have found a true mate, so things do get dramatic at the end.
It takes awhile for the steam to happen, especially because for a large chunk of the book they thought she was a boy. Once that is dissolved, the spark happens quickly. They are seriously hawt details!! It is super fast for things happening. It is a very spicy book in the end.
I liked this book, but it wasn't a favorite in the series. I just kept waiting for something to happen. Once things did get exciting, it just wasn't enough for me. I would have liked the recap portion to have been quicker and more of their time on Earth as well as them coming home to the village.
As always the narration was a highlight, David Brenin is one of my ear crushes!! I just cannot get enough of his delicious reads!! He has a splendid pace that brings the action to life in delightful ways! I want him to read to me nightly!!
There are still a couple more side books in this series, then the stories of the other planet's princes. I love that this creates such a full world with so much potential!! The connections of the stories is a fascinating puzzle to unravel.

This story was fantastic. Smith had me crying one moment and rolling on the floor laughing with the turn of a page. The writing was vibrant and fun, while also eloquent and easy to follow. The plot has it all: love, loss, danger, adventure, and enough chemistry to make your pages sizzle. This is all set in a well-developed world that I don’t simply enjoy reading about, but that I’m dying to move to.
I simply couldn’t imagine being a Valdier twin. I couldn’t picture living assuming that I had a death sentence over my head simply for being born. And then to find out that your only possible salvation is something that you can’t quite wrap your mind around? Fate was definitely playing with Cree and Calo here. And Aikaterina’s admission that she may have overlooked something? Yeah, that made her an even better goddess in my books. Top this all of with Mel’s winning personality and her internal struggle between what she feels she should do and what she needs for herself and you have a cast of characters you simply won’t be able to get enough of.
Smith has once again created a completely unforgettable tale. It is a must read for anyone who enjoys shifters, SciFi, or just some good old romance.

It's been a while since I read the series so reading through the book was a little confusing because I forgot some of what happened in the earlier part of the series and who was who. So I think if I re-read the series again and then read this book then I will probably give it a higher rating. But it's possible that my rating won't change because what didn't agree with me was the heroine. She seemed to whine often and do that woe is me thing. Kinda a wimpy heroine in my opinion when the other heroines in the series were much stronger and sassy...and she is supposedly strong enough to handle two of these dragon!!!
On another topic, I wish the author would put the reading order of these books since I know that The Dragon Lords of Valdier series, The Sarafin Warriors series, and The Curizan Warrior series all interact. I don't seem to see anything on her website regarding this.

This was a hard book to rate, I loved the first half of the book, it was on a spaceship, there was angst, there was hiding out, and good action. Then they find out Mel is a girl and the second half of the book is all about them having sex every which way, as dragons, as men, everywhere. I mean there was that small action scene where Calo and Cree were captured at the village but then more sex. While I love romance and erotica in my books it bothers me when every scene is a sex scene. This book would have gotten four stars had it had more plot the last half.
Having said that I only picked this up because I've been on a sci-fi menage kick lately, I haven't read the previous books so that may be what this series is all about. I'm planning on reading the first because it interested me, hopefully they'll be more twin dragons 0-0

Terrible. Just terrible. Melina was an awful female character and the twins were just as bad. The story was bad. This was just not a good book.

I haven't wrote a review in awhile but thought I would this time. I started this book and was drawn into it only to put it down and walk away for a couple weeks. I finished the audio and while it ended ok to me it was just meh. The parts on Earth made me cringe and it seemed too convenient. Interesting concept but not the greatest follow through.

I love reading a series where the story in each book parallel each other and intersect at points. This time though, it had been long enough where it took me a bit more to link the points with Carmen's story. Though that didn't take away from this story at all really.
This book begins quite a while before the actually story to give us a little insight as to what happens when twin dragons don't find their mate. Calo and Cree are witness to this and swear that they will never allow themselves to get that point. Fast forward now a couple centuries and the two of them have pledged themselves to the service of the royal family. They have distinguished themselves as quite the formidable team of warriors and are currently on a mission with Creon to rescue Vox. Only, they know time for them is running out for them because it is getting increasingly harder for them to control their dragons. They had always hoped to die in battle but it doesn't seem like it will happen.
As we already knew, Melina and her grandfather (Cal) were abducted years ago and ended up on an asteroid as slaves. Once the mine was abandoned, they eventually were the last two left alive and were just about to run out of clean air and food when the alarms sounded and they knew someone had landed. After much frustration, Creon agrees to take them and the animal with him. Cal decides that it would be better for Mel to keep pretending to be a mute boy but that soon leads to complications. Mainly when Calo and Cree are around. Mel doesn't understand the affect they have on her and she fears that their attraction to her would falter if they found out she was a girl. After all, they do think she's a boy. But when Cal has a heart attack, she's so desperate to save him that she doesn't care who finds out she's a girl. And it immediately makes so much fall into place for Calo and Cree Melina is lost now because she is truly alone even though the twins have promised her that she would never be alone again. Even so, she is determined to go home and have a normal life. It doesn't take long for her to realize that Earth is no longer her home though. And shortly thereafter she realizes that she also needs both Calo and Cree because of what Cree's dragon started when his control slipped. From there it's pretty much them trying to get to know each other better and the twins learning that Melina needs to be left alone sometimes no matter what they want. The ending was an interesting surprise. I figured that they would take her home to meet their parents but what happened in the village was something I wasn't expecting.
One thing that bugged me about this story was Cal aboard the ship. He acted like such an ungrateful bastard toward pretty much every Valdier that came to where they were staying. I get that he did that to keep them out so that they wouldn't learn Melina's secret, but I couldn't believe how rude he was to the people who saved the two of them when they didn't have to.
This wasn't the first book in a series where twins had to claim the same mate that I have read so, I admit, I was curious as to how these two would deal with it. Being all alpha dragons and all I couldn't imagine how they would deal with their jealousy when their brother got the attention of their mate. Sadly...I missed that there was no Zoren and Abby in this book.

Cal Turner and his granddaughter Melina are abducted from Earth and sold to the Antrox who use them as slaves to mine ore on astroids. They've been able to successfully hide the fact that Mel is a female as, if discovered, they'll be separated and Mel sold elsewhere. When the Astrox abandon them on a mined out astroid to die, the Valdier Alliance happen to come across them while searching for one of their own who had been captured. They're saved but need to keep up their deception for their own safety.
Calo and Cree Aryeh, rare Twin Dragon brothers, are ferocious warriors with legendary battle skills who are relegated to the role of babysitters for Creon Reykill’s mate, Carmen Walker. A role made all the more difficult as no twin dragon pair has ever found their own mate so seeing the mated Creon & Carmen on a daily basis reinforced their own fate. That without a mate they will eventually lose their minds to the darkness requiring their family and friends to terminate them.
When two humans are found in a deserted mine, Carmen is appointed as the liaison for the elderly male and his grandson bringing Cree & Calo in close contact with them. Confused and a bit disgusted, the pair don't know what to do when their dragons and symbiots claim that Mel is their true mate. Would the Goddess truly have them mate with a male from another world or are they being further punished?
Things become clear when it's found that Mel is Melina. Though she still intends to return to Earth with her grandfather, Calo & Cree know that can't happen as they won't survive being apart though there are those who feel differently. That Melina is too valuable to allow the twin's to keep.

Another delicious installment in the "Dragon Lords Of Valdier" series that I've been waiting for ever since the author teased me with snippets of Calo, Cree, and Mel in previous installments. So many possibilities ran through my head when at first it seemed that there would be a m-m-m menage relationship only to find out it would be m-f-m.
The story started out with a bang as events were filled in that were paralleled in Cornering Carmen and the spin off series. Best way for me to convey my thoughts is Paul Harvey quote: And now you know — the rest of the story. And I'm so glad I now do know.

As for the adult content scenes. For those who are uncomfortable with menage/multi-partner relationships, I do feel you won't be pulled too far out of your comfort zone while for those who are fans, the scenes didn't go far enough. To each their own.
I guess a question from those who haven't read any of the series written by this author might be if this could be read as a standalone. I'm on the fence about that. I do think it's time the author includes a genealogy map of sorts in the beginning of her books for a visual reference of who is mated to who and how that relates to the others. Most of her series are interconnected to the point the different characters get confusing and I really don't want to do a book to book search (which I did) when I need a reminder or know who goes with who and where they fall in the overall picture. Just a thought. But. This COULD be read as a standalone though characters from other installments make cameo appearances. The core of the story is independent from other installments.
This was a book any fan of the series will love. Combines action-adventure, snarky humor, and sensual bedroom action to provide a total package experience. For those who haven't read any of this author's previous works, it's more a matter of personal taste where you want to jump in. Each installment is a standalone though to get the full flavor it's recommended to start from the beginning.

The brothers know they will never be able to have a true mate of their own. Never in the history of their clan have twin dragons been able to find a mate capable of handling two male dragons. I enjoyed this book. I was giggling and smiling at Calo and Cree's confusion. Melina really gave them the run around. But when it mattered she was in their corner and had their backs.

The book’s initial premise was interesting. But then, it all fell apart when the female lead shows up, grandfather in tow, at about 4% into the book. Or perhaps it was better to say, the grandfather shows up with female lead in tow. I felt that the female lead would have a better chance to shine if the author had not included a grandfather. As it was, in the initial chapters that I’ve managed to stomach, the grandfather, Cal, had more point of views than the Melanie, the female lead. Although Melanie seems very resourceful, I did not like the fact that she basically hid while her grandfather faced unknown aliens alone, that she left her grandfather with these same unknown aliens and ran away because they refused to also rescue her alien pet elephant. Then, once she agreed, she allowed her alien pet to shit all over their rescuers ship. She and her grandfather then proceeded to have a pretty good laugh at their rescuers, I repeat, rescuers, expenses. These same rescuers who were willing to consider taking them home. Sorry not sorry, but if I’ve been kidnapped by aliens and was stuck mining on some practically unlivable planet for 4 years, you bet your asses I would be on my best behavior if someone says he was willing to consider taking me back to my home planet. Call me heartless, but I would also be willing to give up a pet so that my grandfather could live and have a chance to return to earth. Ugh.

I wanted to read this one since I first read Carmens story. It didn't disappoint. The first few books were very repetitive due to overlapping storylines, Cara being so quirky and funny helped me stay engaged and Trisha and Carmen stories gave this sci-fi shifter series ass-kicking-girl-power-pride. Abbey, of course, the gentle introduction into the Valdier universe as well as the primary catalyst of introducing the Valdier to humankinds importance to their future. And sweet Ariel and her many pets.
I loved the beginning of this book getting to see new angles on the Twins trying to address their dragons' insistence that a small unstable boy is in fact their true mate. Meanwhile, Mel, aka, Melanie, is struggling with her desire to fess up to her deception or securing her grandfather's way home to Earth where they were abducted from four years ago as slave labor.
Fast forwarding to the mating scene, I like how the author includes sex (sometimes kinky) without getting too raunchy.
I have read alot of this author's work and enjoyed each one. This is my favorite series by her.

Melina & Calo & Cree
I enjoyed this book not as good as the last one for me but it was still a great installment to this series, and one that needed to be told in my opinion.
Calo and Cree were slowing going mad from there dragon's needing there mate. And it was really starting to affect them. Almost to the point where they would have been destroyed. How sad. It was breaking my heart.
They needed a mate strong enough to handle both of them because they are a part of each other. And here come this spit fire Melina. Not only did she survive being kidnapped and almost starved to death but was a work horse to on an alien ship with her grandfather.
She had to out wit and out maneuver a lot of aliens just to say alive. No wonder she was the right one to be there true mate.
I did find it to be a bit slow and repetitive from the other book but that's ok because we got to see it from her point of view.

I want books that aren't so intertwined with other books. Decent.
I was going to do this detailed instruction manual of what incredibly complicated order to read the books in, but life is too short! Basically, I read books 2-5 at the same time, skipping between them at points of intersection of the books! Because! Spoilers! Ye flippin' gods the spoilers between books. And it irritated me. I had to keep going to the next book (books 6 to... 9?) because the previous book was spoiling. I skipped the sex scenes. I started reading the series because my Amazon kept suggesting I should read the Dragonling's Christmas and such. I wanted the adorableness!!! And they were adorable... But thank gods I'm out of that interminable morass of nonsense!! Ah, plenty of continuity errors, mostly timeline.

Love This Book!
When I first read about Melina and her grandfather in a previous book I hoped the author would write Melina's story. I have anxiously awaited this book and started to read it the minute it was available. I also loved the twin dragons and am thrilled they were paired with Melina. Their story was wonderful; I was up all night finishing the book. Melina is a strong human woman. She survived four years as a slave, pretending to be a deranged boy. It was so cute reading about the twin dragons' confusion being attracted to a boy. The book is an emotional roller coaster, full of laughter, loss, excitement, and love.

Well, I finally got to read this book. It has been on my TBR for awhile but I really was wanting to reread the series before I did. Then I came across a list the author recommends as the best order to read the books in needless to say it has taken me awhile to get to this point. This was a great read. I loved Cree and Calo and I am glad that they got a HEA. I was mad about how they were treated in their village. It was horrible. However, I was glad to finally read the story.

Compared with the other female leads from the previous books in the series, Melina didn't feel like a very strong heroine. That makes me question the premise that she's suppose to be very strong to be mated to twin dragons. Easy read, but less enjoyable than books in previous series.

So I don't read these in order. I have found I don't really need to, but I do want to go back and read the ones I have skipped. I found Mel/Melina very annoying. I felt like she stayed a "boy" for far to long. Also after they found out she was a girl, she was stubborn and frustrating for no good reason. I did like the ending where she save the twins. I love this VALDIER series of books, and find myself invested in their happiness. In this book Dragon Twins Cree and Calo are an anomaly . Never before has their been a true mate that was able to satisfy TWO Warriors, and all Six of their counterparts - Warrior /Symbiot/Dragon . As children they seen 1st hand what happens when TWINS go crazed with want of what they can not have, and have made a sort of "death pact" should that happen to them. How sad would that be, to see your family and friends pair up , knowing deep down that the same could Never happen for you ?? Heartbreaking......
At a chance encounter , on a distant moon, an old Human man and his " grandson" are rescued and brought back to the Warship that Prince Creon and his mate Carmen are using for a rescue mission of their own .The Twins are assigned to protect Princess Carmen who has taken an interest in the Humans and therefore must spend time in their presence. Suddenly the Twins Dragons and Symbiots begin to do all in their power to gain any and all access to the "grandson", proclaiming him to be their Mate !! Him, a MALE !!! what follows next is a very , very funny laugh-out-loud ( i did , and you will too ) story that will captivate you , and hold your interest long after the last page has been read. The only reason I didn’t give this book a one star rating is because I made it all the way to the end.
In short, a young girl and her grandfather are kidnapped from earth to work as slave labor in an astroid mining camp. She survives by chopping her hair off and claiming she’s a boy. Four years later they’re abandoned on the astroid when the mine is played out.
Right before they are about to die from starvation they’re rescued by a bunch of dragon shifting aliens. The aliens don’t know that she’s a girl but they feel that she is there mate regardless. They attempt to convince her grandfather to let them have her to train as a warrior, and presumably their future mate, until they find out that she’s actually a girl. Then they simply take her.
At no point in the book is she ever asked what she wants. The mating is not consensual, although the sex is hot and she gets swept away in it, She’s never actually asked. They return her and her grandfather to Earth, but then kidnap her away again. It’s another non-consensual event. In fact they treat her so much like an object that they don’t even bother to explain their culture to her and when they’re almost killed she has to figure out how to save them. Then at the end they force breed her. Yay. I guess it’s not rape if you’re“true mates” right?
This is another example of a “romance novel” where the woman has absolutely no power. It’s not romance, it’s rape.

Writer seems to have low confidence, or else why would she resort to porn just to try to keep a readers interest. Just saying, it's not necessary and doesn't have to be so obvious. Her concept is fun, humourous and different. But she trashes and ruins it with all her too quick too low budget pornography she's constantly slipping in, no pun intended. She can brush on sex but does she have to now make a another porno flick book, using threesomes fckn? Not only once but again in another book after this one. I've had to constantly forward thru all the fake porn hub just to enjoy the other storylines, and now this book I have to skip altogether, including any others that mention three people fckn and suckn at the same time together. It's a bridge too far for me. I like my reading material to reflect what I'm actually hoping too read and enjoy. If I wanted porn i know exactly where to go to get porn and my mindset would be ok with that. But to silently slip porn into a regular book I'm trying to enjoy reading for it's fun, so called fall in love storylines, is low budget, desperate, and lacks faith in its loyal fan base. U don't need desperate porn to keep us interested, we already like ur writing. Don't need to cheapen urself or us with this old school hustler mag trash. And honey if we wanted pornography we definitely know exactly where to go to get it. She needs to have more faith in herself and in her readers. Stop all the sneak hentai b.s.and give us a real actual story.

Calo and Cree are twin dragons of Valdier. No set of twins in the history of Valdier has found their true mate. All of the twins either go mad and have to be put down or die valiently in battle.. Calo and Cree devoted their lives to Creon so that they could fight and die. Their dragons are starting to go mad so they decided that this was their last mission before dieing.

This is another awesome book by S E Smith. Love the fact that we are continuing to get stories of the side characters' story after the original brothers are finished.
