Roping Trouble

Rate this book
He had one goal this summer—stay away from his best friend’s little sister. If only he could forget about that kiss…

Kate
Terminally single—that’s what my future holds for me if my brother doesn’t learn some boundaries. Our family has been through the ringer. I get it. But there is no boogeyman out to get me, and if there was, I’d much rather my brother’s best friend, Caleb—who I’m in love with—be the one to protect me. That is, if I was into the whole damsel-in-distress thing. Unfortunately, Caleb isn’t interested in me. At least, that’s what I thought until he kissed me. Now I’m not so sure.

Caleb
When my best friend needs a new roping partner, I’m ready. After all, I owe him my life. But then his sister, Kate, shows up, desperate to get out of town, and next thing I know, we’re sharing a motel room. All the cold showers in the world won’t get me through this summer. Truth is, I’m in love with her. But she’s completely off-limits, and I’ve already slipped once. I can’t let it happen again. Not while the fate of their homestead depends on us winning.

Roping Trouble 🐎

Firstly,I want to thank BookSirens and Amora Blake for trusting me with this ARC!

Roping Trouble is THE cowboy romance of 2025 for me,taking into consideration we have REAL rodeos going on,beautiful men & an unstoppable hidden romance.
To start with,I fell in love with Roping Trouble since page 1.The vibe of this book amazed me,leaving me unable to stop turning the pages.Usually in those romances the protagonist wears a big cowboy hat and then the West Wild vibe stops, with the book you are about to read being a common romance you can get in Target. However, this time Blake KNEW what she was about to write, she ate& delivered so nicely that I want go get a cowboy myself ASAP.
Her way of writing was something else,I loved the way her story unfolded slowly and steadily with plot twists & hidden gems coming to the light all the time.I laughed so much, fell in love and got stunned by the way things came up during the story.
Kate, the main girl,is so lovely all the time.Always thinking others, taking care of them and being present all the time was such a cute detail in her character. She is a good friend, sister, daughter & girlfriend, supporting anyone who needs it.The absolute sunshine to me!Yet,stuff will happen in her life that will definetly change and evolve her in the best way possible.I loved seeing a honest character development in such a book🩷
Caleb, our man,has the cowboy effect for sure-I mean who doesn't love a good one?He is overly handsome and a crush of Kate's for years. What will happen when they decide to ignore her brother's shadow and pursue their love?
This romance was a complicated one,as a reeader you will gigle, yet question, you will love their chemistry and also worry. With this summoning up the bond Kate & Caleb have.
From me a big 5⭐,for you a perfect read on a summer day, coming out on May,23

I enjoyed reading the love story of Kate and Caleb. It was so sweet reading that story as they get to know and love each other over the many years that they known each other. It was also good to for her brother to realize how much of a jerk he was trying to come in between them to. I also enjoyed the side characters in the story too and that was also glad that Kate actually made a real good friend and her buddy Dakota. I enjoyed this author's writing and look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

When I read book one of the Sweet Pea Ridge series, Falling For Gypsy, I loved Lacey and Jacob so much that I really didn't think it would be possible to top their relationship. But Kate and Caleb...I love them, they're so sweet together🥹

Roping Trouble took me through all the feels. Their relationship (even behind Austins back), their banter, their stories..it was all so good. And the way Caleb and Austin protect Kate, and have since they were all kids, was one of my favorite parts.

Caleb's story absolutely broke my heart. The way he went through a traumatic situation within his family and then continued to blame himself, not knowing otherwise, was so sad. But with Austin and Kate, and Monty, by his side, it was so wholesome getting to see how he grew through that. (Also, I loved Monty, he's such a precious little boy...and, without spoiling the book for others, the last part of the book with Kate, Caleb, and Monty at the courthouse mended my heart 🥹🥹 iykyk).

PS. Dakota is amazing, loved her so much! Her sass and the way she also protected Kate💯

Amora never fails to nail it when it comes to 5☆ cowboy romances that will both melt your heart and have you addicted to yet another cowboy. I can not wait to see what comes next!

I got a chance to read this book early, and was so impressed with it that I went back and read the first book. It's a darling small-town romance, older brother's best friend trope, where he just cannot stay away from her, no matter how much he feels he doesn't deserve her.

Throw in some close proximity, and you have love blossoming right under the brother's nose. Lots of tension and angst as you wonder when/if they'll get caught. Unpacking some of Caleb's heartache and determining why he doesn't feel good enough for Kate just makes you love him all the more.

Kate is just on the cusp of "adulthood" (she's 23 or so, no barely legal thing here, she's just finally figuring out her next steps from living at home caring for her mom) She leads with her heart and is finally ready to go for the guy she's adored forever, as well as stepping out from under her brother's shadow. Watch her also go through some tough friend situations and mature as those play out.

This book has some great angst and build-up, excellent banter- I'm a sucker for a feisty FMC! It is a fade-to-black on the spice scenes. If you love small-town/cowboy romances and don't love descriptive spice scenes, this is your book!

Roping Trouble has charm, suspense and is a page turning cowboy romance. The story is beautifully written, well balanced and perfectly executed by Amora Blake. This is my first novel I’ve read by this author and was blown away by the storyline. The story is captivating from beginning to end, entertaining and an enjoyable read. I absolutely did NOT want to set this book down until I read the last page of this book. Roping Trouble follows the adventures of Caleb and Kate. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. The chemistry between these two characters is absolutely incredible and undeniably irresistible. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Caleb and Kate as well as witnessing their story come to life through the pages of this book. I definitely will be checking out more of this author’s work in the future. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone to checkout and give it a read.

“I no more tamed her than someone could tame the wind.”- Caleb

I really enjoyed this sweet and cozy small town cowboy romance! Caleb and Kate were perfect for each other. I loved Caleb’s inner turmoil and the resolution that occurred with his feelings of grief and inadequacy. I loved seeing Kate step into her life fully and the joy she experienced by becoming wholly herself. The Emily plot line was *chefs kiss* and I was so happy for Dakota to step in. I am anxiously awaiting her and Austin’s book!

My only reason for a 4 star rating was that while there was no ‘smut’ I still couldn’t recommend this to my gramma to read due to the other language throughout. It seemed like it would lead to sexy time (mentioning very specific sexual innuendos and key words) then would cut to the next scene, which did seem kind of forced to me! I love books with smut and I love books without, but this did feel a little like the author wanted this to go that route but wouldn’t whole heartedly commit. My only advice would be make it go true fade to black, or make the leap and add the scene!

Roping Trouble: I really liked Amora Blakes Falling for Gypsy, and Roping Trouble didn’t disappoint.
Cute small down rodeo romance. Kate is well protected by her big brother Austin and his best friend Caleb through out all her growing up. Even though she is an adult, these men are still protecting her. Every guy in town is scared to even try to get close to Kate. When the farm house is going to be repossessed Austin and Caleb make a plan to go on the road for the summer competing in Rodeos all over the area. Kate is left to help her sick momma with the farm & small-town diner.
What she didn’t expect was to have feelings for Caleb. After all these years of being just the little sister Kate has the opportunity to build a stronger friendship with Caleb, maybe even more. Two big dilemmas, one Austin, and two her momma.

Who doesn't love a small town, brothers bestfriend romance.
This book had me in my feelings, the good and the bad.
I am a sucker for this trope, always have and always will be.
I feel like a lot of details are skimmed over in this book and would of loved to have more depth in some things but overall, I still loved it. Can't wait until the next book.

Right from the beginning we learn about Kate, Caleb and Austin.
Austin has had the whole town scared of going anywhere near his sister Kate, the one guy he could rely on to help him keep an eye on Kate was his bestfriend Caleb. Who would of thought the his bestfriend was the one he had to keep an eye on?.

I love a small town cowboy romance! Throw in some forced proximity with brother’s best friend and we’ve struck gold.

After meeting Caleb somewhat briefly in book one, I fell for his character and missed him as the story progressed without him. When I saw Roping Trouble would focus on him I was very excited!

The book had everything you’d expect in a modern take on forbidden attraction, small town cowboy romance. There weren’t too many surprises and the book progressed at a nice pace. I actually enjoyed it more than book one!

The romance was closed door, and many readers will appreciate that the author leaves the scene up for imagination.

Thank you BookSirens for the free advanced copy of this book, I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Kate can never date anyone because as soon as she starts talking to someone her brother interrupts and makes it horrible for her. Kate has always thought her brother's best friend Caleb was cute, but never tried anything because he always treats her as his sister.

Caleb has been asked to be Kate’s brother's roping partner. He says yes of course and cannot wait to start. When Kate begs to join them on the road they reluctantly let her.

Sparks start to fly between Kate and Caleb and the tension is palpable. While Caleb wants to pursue things with Kate, he always has the risks at the back of his mind.

Oh my GOODNESS. I thought Falling for Gypsy was amazing, this one definitely takes the cake. I loved Caleb and Kate's story so much, especially as the trope of Brother's Best Friend / Best Friend's Little Sister is such a thrill. The plot twists that transpired as I ventured through the novel made me start scooting to the edge of my seat to know how it ends. HEA? NO HEA? Does the wild west trope stay a top tier for me!? I won't spoil anything for anyone who has this on their TBR but 100% dive in if you like cowboys, tension, and hidden kisses.

Kate and Caleb melt my heart and I’m hoping to see Austin and Dakota in a book in the near future 😍

This was such an amazing book that made my heart happy in every way. I don’t have any brothers and I’m the oldest of 4 girls but Austin is exactly how I would picture the perfect older brother. And Caleb has me wishing I had one with hot friends who know how to treat a lady right!

Roping Trouble was the second book by Amora Blake that I have read. I like her writing style and her characters. In this book, the forbidden love of a brother’s best friend, past family trauma, sibling relationships, good and crappy friendships were written into an appealing storyline with just the right amount of angst. This was a quick read that I stretched out for several days but enjoyed. I look forward to more from this author.

- ARC Reader -

This story is about the developing love between Kate (FMC 25) and Caleb (FMC 28), and how they overcome their past trauma and present hurdles in order to be with each other.

🐎 Brother's best friend
🐎 Family trauma
🐎 Dual POV
🐎 Crappy / good female friendships
🐎 Overprotective brother
🐎 Spice:🌶/5
🐎 HEA

This is the second book in a series, but can be perfectly read as a standalone. For fans of cowboy romances with not a lot of spice, then this is the book for you!

In my personal opinion, I would have preferred to also have a chapter including the contents of the letter of Caleb, and the thought process of Kate as she finally forgives him and wears his T-shirt to the competition.

“Roping Trouble” by Amora Blake

-Kate and Caleb’s friends-to-lovers story blends heart, heat, and healing.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion.

Their bond deepens through rodeos, family drama, and tender revelations.
A brother’s best friend romance with just enough angst and sweetness.

Well-written and emotional, it ropes you in from the start.

Kate is a headstrong tomboy who has feelings for her brother’s best friend, Caleb. This book is about their journey and love story. There’s rodeos, cowboys, forced proximity, found family, healing from past traumas, and so much more. This sweet, fade to black romance is a great choice if you’re looking for a cowboy romance and want to support an indie author.

Roping Trouble is the cowboy romance of the year for me. Amora Blake nails the small-town vibe, the forbidden love tension, and gives us a couple—Kate and Caleb—that you can’t help but root for. I laughed, swooned, and felt all the feels. If you're into slow-burn, brother’s-best-friend drama with just the right amount of spice, this one's a must-read. 5⭐

This is Caleb and Kate's story.
They grew up together and finally get together, but true love never runs smooth and this story is no exception.
