Rate this book
The heat is on…

Cassie Wolford has crushed on fireman Quinn Gallagher ever since he moved to Clearwater three years ago. There’s just one problem: he’s always made it clear dating is out of the question. But once a Wolford sets their sights on someone, that person doesn’t stand a chance! Cassie decides it’s time for Quinn to get a dose of his own medicine… and sets out to show him what he’s missing!

Quinn knows only too well what Cassie’s up to but he can’t give her what she wants. He isn’t good for anyone, much less someone as sweet as his angel. Fighting her off hurts like hell, but giving her false hope of a happy ever after would be damn cruel. That’s why he has to leave Clearwater.

Unfortunately, someone from his past has different ideas and when Cassie’s life is threatened this former CIA operative is staying put, prepared to crawl through hell and back to keep her safe. And it looks like he might just have to.

Really...that's how you want to end it. Not all questions answered and a piss poor ending to Cassie and Quinn's relationship. If it weren't for that it would be a solid four stars. I loved the rest of the book, the way their relationship evolved, and all the secondary characters who will awesome hero and heroines in search of their own HEAs.

This is a very hot book no pun intended. Cassie Wolford has had a crash on Quinn Gallagher for three years, now by him not showing up on her 21st birthday has just about ended all of her hopes of at least kissing him. When she shows up at the firehouse to drop off left over cake for the guys Quinn gives her the low down of his feels and her not being wanted by him. He does it in front of the entire firehouse and she holds it together until she gets outside. Later when she ends up at a nightclub he ends up there to take her back to her apartment after she passes out. Quinn’s problem is his past and the flash backs he gets from a mission he was on the ended badly when he was a DEA agent. Now he decides to not face anything and quits his job as a fireman and move from Florida. When Cassie hears about this plan she takes matters in her own hands and this is where the story takes multiple turns in the bed and lo and behold he is not leaving but facing his fears. He also is trying to find who is after her. He also must find the mole in the DEA that is still keeping an eye on all that he is doing. Overall this is a good book with some hot scenes in the bedroom, they touch on PTSD, and also cutting which Cassie was doing. I found that the author dealing with though issues really added to the story. The ending for me was a little anti climatic but I was okay with the rest of the book. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 3 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Good writing. Abrupt ending.

The story was well written and exciting, but the ending was abrupt. It wasn't even just a cliffhanger, but more like the halfway point in a chapter. Just when it seems as if the author is going to wrap up some big plot lines, the paragraph ends and that's it.

Vonnie has a really good writing style everything flows nicely and the events that happened intriguing enough to make you want to keep reading.
This story is centered around firefighter Quinn the best friend to Wolf and his younger brother Jace. They are a large family that Wolf took over raising when they died in their family home, in a fire no less. So, now the two brothers fight fires so others don’t live what they went through with their sisters.
The youngest sister is the female lead and a spitfire. This would be Cassie. She just turned twenty-one the day before the story opens. She and Quinn are best friends more so than the boys since one is married and one a fiancé.
Cassie and Quinn go running together movies, etc.… They met at her eighteenth birthday party and for Cassie, it was love at first sight. Quinn, he thought she was a beauty and spitfire and energy for days.
But when she arrives the day after her twenty-first and starts to question him about why he broke his promise of coming to her party he loses it. In front, of all the guys Mr. I-Could-Give-A-Shit meaning about her tells her. They are only friends never more so stop following him around drooling all over him because nothing romantic is ever happening.
As she left on her way out, she left her pass key to the station apologized to the men and left to go to a party at a bar with her friends where she decided she was leaving town. All because he didn’t like her sexy clothes.
By the end, I was totally into it, but it just stops. What the hell! Not good. No epilogue or anything. I give this: 4 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

Too many words to describe this

This book had so many twists and turns that you would think of it like a corkscrew. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The ending will leave you wanting more.

I have so many highlights I don't know where to begin…

For starters, Cassie is a smart mouth woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. She will let nothing get in the way of her having Quinn. She loves him, she wants to marry him, hell…she wants to sleep with him too, and if he thinks she'll just up and let him leave town he's got another thing coming.

Quinn has a past that still haunts him. He's kept a pretty tight lid on it, but his PTSD brings flashbacks and takes away pieces of his memory. He knows he's screwed up, it's the only reason he's never made a move on the woman he loves. He can hardly stand living with himself; no one else should have to.

How to Seduce a Fireman is filled with humor, family, love, and suspense, and it's a pretty good combination if you ask me. The humor is all Cassie based. I mean what that girl can do to a U-Haul is quite entertaining, so is her taste in gifts, and her ability to stand up for her man…even if it is to his father. It also shows what lengths a family will go through in a time of need. The love Cassie and Quinn share for each other fills the pages. And oh my god, no way you'll guess whose behind all the threats. The first person I never saw coming, didn't expect it whatsoever, but the rest was kind of anticipated.

The only thing I did not like is the ending. There was no major cliffhanger, no major lead-in into the next book, it just kind of ended. It leaves a lot of questions and of course you'll want to read more, because you'll have to know how it turns out, but be prepared to turn a page and there will be nothing there.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: Option C. Quinn can do crazy like no other. His version of clearing the shark tank had me in tears from laughing so hard.

My Favorite Moment: A hospital conversation between Quinn and Cassie…oh yeah, and the doctor.

I enjoyed the seasonal prequel to this sexy fireman story 'Santa Wore Leathers' and this story featuring Cassie the baby of the family and Quinn is an interesting read. Einstein the charismatic dog makes a cameo appearance but the animal star is Furball the stray cat adopted by Quinn who provides the comic relief and shows a softer side to Quinn.

Cassie turns twenty one and Quinn misses her party. Tired of being ignored Cassie sets out to prove to Quinn, she is the woman of his dreams. Quinn's hidden past means he is unable and unwilling to commit to Cassie, even though he loves her as a friend.

Quinn is a fireman with a past, which forms the basis of the story and proves a major obstacle to admitting he loves Cassie. The initial few chapters are light-hearted and full of sexual tension. The culmination is a steamy encounter between Cassie and Quinn. The heat level of this romance borders on erotic. When Quinn's past threatens his future with Cassie, he abandons his plans to leave her and the story becomes darker and edgy.

This story is a dichotomy; sexy romance versus family values. Humour versus violence, poignancy versus action. The ending is a realistic happy for now for Cassie and Quinn but some questions remain unanswered, to entice you to read the next in the series.

I picked this from Netgalley to try something a little different from my usual category fare.

The story is a very simple friends to lovers trope with a young heroine just turned twenty-one and the hero seven years older. I remember the age difference because he seemed kind of obsessed by it. My DH is nearly eight years older than me and I was not quite twenty-one when we married so I was a little, what is the big deal here.

Anyway...Cassie has been obsessed, sorry, in love with Quinn for three years ever since she first met him at her 18th birthday party. But they've only been friends, with him treating her as the little sister of his fire station mates. Apparently they've been jogging together and generally being good buddies for those three years.

But having turned twenty-one, Cassie has decided it's time Quinn took notice of her as a woman. In doing so, she scares Quinn off and his decision to leave triggers a whole heap of things including some drama from his history in the DEA (some kind of US secret service stuff with danger and guns and villains).

I don't think this was meant to be erotica but the language and smexy pushed it in that direction. I really don't see why we have to have the C word but it became an issue so we get a smattering of it.

I was a little confused by the already coupled siblings in the book. I thought perhaps this was a third in a series but it is the first. The secret intrigue stuff didn't get resolved and ended quite suddenly so I'm assuming it will continue in the further books of the series.

Overall the story was quite engaging. Innocent but feisty heroine with no inhibitions but a secret flaw and a wounded hero with some PTSD issues. The style was different from what I was used to. There seemed to be a southern cultural thing happening with the way they spoke and the family bond was very strong.

This is supposed to be a friends-to-lovers story, and unfortunately, that is what I find the most difficult to believe. The main characters do not behave as though they were ever friends, let alone best friends.

Flip-flopping emotions at the drop of a hat appears to be the theme of this novel, as both the hero and heroine appear to be suffering from some sort of severe mood disorder. For a large portion of the book the heroine alternates between screaming, crying, and childish temper tantrums all the while demanding—repeatedly—to be treated as an adult. The hero is actually worse. His over-exaggerated indecisiveness manifests in a Jekyll & Hyde type persona with an alarming tendency toward violence. I found it very difficult to come up with anything likeable about these characters.

The secondary characters are not any better. The overprotective men in the heroine’s life give truly bizarre advice on relationship tactics. Despite the fact that the heroine claims—on several occasions—to not want to play games, the conversations when she is seeking wisdom are truly on par with what I’d expect from immature teenage girls. Basically, dress like a ho and make him jealous. Seriously. This can only lead the reader to the conclusion that, as long as the mature learned males in your life tell you to do so, it is absolutely fine to be incredibly manipulative. Because, how else could you get your best friend of three years, and the damaged love of your life to open up about his tragic past?

For the sake of full disclosure it must be stated that I received this book, free of charge, from Netgalley.

Hawt, hawt, hawt!! Vonnie's firemen of Clearwater, Florida are just that. It totally helped that I know the area well having vacationed there several times. This is the follow up to the first book in the Wild Heat series, Santa Wore Leathers. Seduce could probably be a stand-alone, but it helps to have read the first one because the heroine, Cassie Wolford, was introduced in the previous novel.
Cassie's all fire and spice, a likable girl that knows just what--or who--she wants: broken hero, Quinn. For three years, she's harbored feelings for Quinn--and they've become inseparable best friends. On her 21st birthday, Cassie decides once and for all that Quinn will be hers. But the man has a past that is bound to catch up with him...sooner rather than later. No matter how much he loves Cassie, Quinn decides she's better off without him, and he makes plans to leave Clearwater. Unfortunately, his decision puts Cassie in harm's way. He'll stop at nothing to protect her.
I loved these characters, and the dynamic between the whole cast of firemen, and even the nosy neighbors, works. In Leathers, the German Shepherd and the elderly neighbor lady made the whole book, and Ms. Davis does the same with Seduce--this time with a fur-ball cat and a hilarious old neighbor that's hellbent on giving Quinn advice. I loved the romance part of the book. The suspense/mystery part of the plot really didn't need to be added. With Quinn's past, it would have worked just fine to have Cassie break down Quinn's wall. Overall, I loved these characters together--with hot bedroom scenes and lots of action, this is a book I'd definitely read again.

So I really enjoyed this story. There is a wonderful amount of angst between the characters who so clearly love each other from moment one and they compliment each other really well. However there is a lot of anger between them. Thankfully the author put that they were in counseling because if a couple ever need counseling it is this couple. I enjoyed Quinn mostly. When he gets mad or in his own head too much he can be a bit of an a$$ so that gets old pretty quick. And Cassie is a bit of a lovestruck teenager even though she is an adult. But that being said they somehow work well together.

There is quite a bit of suspense too. Well maybe that is not the right word but it will have to do. The writing is good and certainly keeps you glued to the story. The little bit of a problem with the writing is it seems like we have missed a few books in the series but we haven’t. The older brothers have their women already and the background that is given seems like we should have met them already so I went back and looked and this is the first in the series and I do not see a series prior to this one that would have us meet them (if I am wrong I hope someone lets me know). But there are more coming in the series and I am glad. The other little thing is we really didn’t get to see to much “fireman” in the book but that is ok the story was good enough to let that slide.

How to Seduce a Fireman was an entertaining story although sadly, we didn't get to see much of Quinn as a fireman.

I liked that there were bits of suspense and angst thrown into this story which kind of took me by surprise. It was a nice surprise though which kept me turning the pages. As for the characterization of Quinn and Cassie, I really liked them together and as individuals. Quinn was the epitome of a tortured hero and on top of that he was POSSESSIVE which I didn't mind ;)

As far as heroines goes, I liked Cassie. She was a spitfire, Although she was young, 21 years of age, I liked that the author made her a strong lead female character with personality although she did have vulnerabilities as well.

I enjoyed the fact that Quinn and Cassie willingly opened up to one another regarding their fears and insecurities and not dance around each other in circles throughout the book. I can't tolerate that in my romance novels.

While I enjoyed the majority of the story, I had a hard time with the ending. To me, honestly, it wasn't my favorite. With what Quinn and Cassie had gone through to get to their HEA I just expected...more. It wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't great either. I want an ending to leave me smiling and content and elated for the couple. This one didn't really leave me with those feelings. I believed Quinn and Cassie deserved a better ending.

When I see a book written by Vonnie I don't give two hoots what it's about I automatically get it, I love this author's writing. Quinn is pretty possessive on who Cassie makes lasagna for, "you make lasagna for no one, but me. Do you hear? ME." As if the emotional force behind his words registered, a pained expression narrowed his eyes and pinched his lips. "Dammit, Cassie, you're killing me here." I mean he does like to throw temper tantrums, "I'm warning you. Shut. The hell. Up. I've had enough of your nonsense. We are not getting married. We are not having children. And I'm about to show you more ways to have sex than your stupid-a** gossipy customers ever dreamed of." He gets jealous easily as well, "jealous rage rudely snatched him from his state of bliss, and he jerked her head back. "How many damn men have you seen who go commando?" His voice was harsh, his breathing ragged. "How many, Cassie?" These two have chemistry and it was amazing to see it blow up, "I don't see why you're complaining. You didn't mind fisting your hands in my hair earlier." He laughed and smacked her a**." Although I loved this book I think the Highland men will be taking the crown that series has something this one doesn't and that's a cray cray granny.

Friends-to-lovers trope is my favourite, so I was always going to want to read this one. Also, having read the prequel “Santa Wore Leathers” and LOVED it, I was doubly excited.
There is a lot of wonderful plot in this book and it reads more of a hot romantic suspense, than a contemporary romance, but as I love the romantic suspense genre, I was doing the happy reading dance. Plus: Hello? What is not to like about ex-military AND firemen!
At times I felt Cassie and Quinn’s relationship yo-yo’d and I found the over-use of one particular word that a lot of women find offensive quite difficult because it did pull me out of the story. I also didn’t get why the heroine—who also found the word offensive—felt like she had to become okay with saying it, but this is my personal reaction. It doesn’t put me off reading the rest of the series because I really enjoy the author’s wonderfully hard-hitting yet humorous writing style. I appreciated the deliciously-yummy-angsty-dark issues Cassie and Quinn faced, and loved how the family bonds came through so strong. Prepare for wild-fire fast pacing that blazes through to the ending.

I love Vonnie Davis, but this book was just OK for me. Cassie has been lusting after her brother's best friend since she was 18 and now she is going to let him know on her 21st birthday. He cares for her but he doesn't plan on forever with any woman because of his past before he became a fireman. Cassie and Quinn have been jogging buddies, but he doesn't want it to go further. There are some good characters and some fun moments in the story and there is a also some suspense as something from Quinn's past surfaces. What I didn't like was sometimes the two were infuriating and immature, and other times made for each other so the story was a bit inconsistent. Will I continue with the series? Yes, I just hope the writing gets tightened up.

I was given this book as a prize. This is the second book of Vonnie Davis' I have read. In this book we have Quinn Gallagher and Cassie Wolford . Cassie has had a crush on Quinn ever since he moved to Clearwater, Florida three years ago. Quinn is a hard-hitting ex-CIA operative turned fireman and has a horrible past and Cassie has very over protective siblings. Cassie turns twenty one and Quinn misses her party. Cassie does everything she can to prove to Quinn that she is the woman of his dreams but, Quinn's hidden past means he is unable and unwilling to commit to Cassie, even though he loves her as a friend. Quinn and Cassie start to have a HOT sexual relationship but, then something happens and Quinn decides he has to leave Clearwater, Florida. If you want to know more you really need to read this book. I truly enjoyed this book.

For sure interesting and did not really go where I thought it was going. Quinn has secrets, regrets, and a lot of guilt buried deep within and not a whole lot of people know about his past. Now he's in Florida rebuilding his life and enjoying his friends.

Cassie has been in love with Quinn since the first night she met him. Now three years later things are going to come to a head. She's tired of getting his conquests thrown in her face and just turning 21 she's old enough now to show what she has and she's enough for the sexy fireman.

It's interesting yet sometimes hard to read. Its fast flowing but sometimes Cassie gets to be a bit much. She's really childish and stubborn which makes her hard to care about. However it was a good story. I really enjoyed it.

Quinn is a hard-hitting ex-CIA operative turned fireman. Cassie is the baby of her family, maybe a little spoiled by her older brothers and sisters, and definitely used to getting what she wants. And she wants Quinn. Chaos and merriment ensue when she sets a plan in motion to stop her man from leaving town. For a while it looks like she might succeed, until a dangerous man from Quinn's past interferes.

I've enjoyed every one of Ms. Davis's books, so I knew I'd love this one too. She gave us two characters with explosive personalities and somehow wove them together in a sweet and caring love story. Then she left us wanting more. I can't wait for the next installment featuring these hunky firemen! Great book!

This was a quick easy read. The ending was rushed and left some unanswered questions.
Quinn and Cassie have been friends for 3 years. They did everything together. One friend described their relationship as dating without the sex. Once Cassie turns 21 she is ready to get her man. Because of his past, Quinn panics and he decides to leave. Once he realizes that another man will eventually take his place; the possessive alpha male appears. Cassie was feisty but had some dark issues. their relationship will never be dull. Their were some funny scenes throughout the story. A couple of great supporting characters. Overall an enjoyable read.

FIVE off the charts, fantabulous, sexy stars for Vonnie Davis. This is my very first read by Ms Davis and it SO will NOT be my last! I absolutely loved these characters and their interactions! As much steam as you got, you got humor! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
The story was very well written with just enough angst that it keeps you glued to what is going to happen next. There was never a dull moment between Cassie and Quinn.
I highly recommend this book!

OK read. Started out quite nice and the writing style is very pleasant. After a while it was getting harder to like Cassie. One day she woukd be feisty and fighting for her man, the next she would behave like a teenager. She wants Quinn to open up to her, but when he does (he has episodes connected to a failed mission as an DEA agent) she cannot handle it and ends up in hospital after slashing her arms and it is revealed she has done that in the past.

A firefighter book without actual firefighters, different themes and a very abrupt ending.

Cassie has loved Quinn for years, but he feels he is too damaged for her. This book has some action and mystery elements, as well as some humor.

The best parts about this book were the secondary characters, humorous elements, and steamy sex scenes. The language the author used to refer to female genitalia was unacceptable to me however. In addition, I found the book a bit predictable and found myself skimming some sections.

This was an enjoyable and entertaining book. The two main characters, Cassie and Quinn, had known each other for a few years. Quinn thought Cassie was off limits because she was several years younger than him, but she was out to prove him wrong. Quinn has some baggage in his past that adds to the things they have to overcome. The book kept my interest, and I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between these two.
