Η Ζοζεφίνα είναι η μικρή κόρη ενός επαρχιακού παπά. Είναι γεμάτη φαντασία και διάθεση για περιπέτεια. Στο πρεσβυτέριο όμως οι μεγάλοι είναι απασχολημένοι με τις δικές τους δουλειές και δεν της πολυδίνουν σημασία. Έτσι κι αυτή μια μέρα αποφασίζει να εγκαταλείψει το σπίτι της. Παίρνει μαζί της το παλιό της μαϊμουδάκι και μια τσάντα με τα απαραίτητα, δηλαδή δύο σάντουιτς, μισή μηλόπιτα και τρεις βούρτσες, μια για τα δόντια, μια για τα μαλλιά και μια για τα παπούτσια. Η Ζοζεφίνα πιστεύει πως κανείς πρέπει πάντα να είναι περιποιημένος. Ακόμη κι όταν έχει να κάνει ένα μακρύ-μακρύ δρόμο. Το βιβλίο η ΜΙΚΡΗ ΖΟΖΕΦΙΝΑ μαζί με τα άλλα δύο βιβλία, τον ΟΥΓΚΟ ΚΑΙ ΖΟΖΕΦΙΝΑ και τον ΟΥΓΚΟ, που κυκλοφορούν κι αυτά στη σειρά μας αποτέλεσε το θέμα της παγκόσμια γνωστής κινηματογραφικής ταινίας "Ούγκο και Ζοζεφίνα". Η ταινία αυτή κέρδισε το Α' Βραβείο για παιδικά κινηματογραφικά έργα της Τεχεράνης.

60 books197 followersMaria Gripe, born Maja Stina Walter (25 July 1923, Vaxholm, Uppland – 5 April 2007, Rönninge), was a Swedish author of books for children and young people, often written in a magical and mystical tone. In 1946 she married the artist Harald Gripe, who created cover illustrations for most of her books. His illustration career, in fact, began in connection with his wife's debut as author of I vår lilla stad ("In our little town"). Maria Gripe's first major success was Josephine (1961), the first of a series of novels that later included Hugo and Josephine and Hugo. During most of her adult life Maria Gripe lived in Nyköping, where an adaptation of her book Agnes Cecilia was filmed. After a long period of dementia Maria Gripe died at 83 in a nursing home in Rönninge outside Stockholm; her husband Harald had predeceased her by 15 years. Their daughter Camilla Gripe is also a children's author.
Much of her writing, particularly the later works, is suffused with a supernatural or mystical element. This change in her writing style from her less mature work was partly a result of the influence of Edgar Allan Poe, Charlotte and Emily Brontë, and Carl Jonas Love Almquist, and partly a reaction to violence in entertainment that had begun to gain ground in cultural expression; Gripe sought to manufacture plot tension in less overt ways. A prominent feature of Maria Gripe's writing is a respect for individuals and their unique characteristics, a trait which is especially perceptible in the social realism of the Elvis series, which she co-wrote with her husband Harald in the 1970s.
Gripe wrote 38 books, translated into 30 different languages, making her one of Sweden's most prolific writers. Her last published book is Annas blomma ("Anna's Flower", 1997). Several of Gripe's books have been filmed, such as Glasblåsarns barn (The Glassblower's Children), Agnes Cecilia: en sällsam historia ("Agnes Cecilia: a singular history") and the "Shadow" series, directed by Anders Grönros in the 1990s. Kjell Grade directed Hugo and Josephine in 1967, while Kay Pollak filmed Elvis! Elvis (Elvis and his friends) in 1976 and Flickan vid stenbänken ("The girl on the stone bench") became a television series in 1989. Dramatized versions of Tordyveln flyger i skymningen ("The dung-beetle flies at dusk"), Agnes Cecilia, Tanten ("The Aunt") and Svinhugg går igen ("The backbiter bitten") have been produced as radio serials. She also wrote the original Swedish television script for Trolltider ("Magic Time", 1979).
Stockholm University Literature professor Boel Westin praised Maria Gripe to a writer for Svenska Dagbladet, declaring that her Shadow books presented an exciting narrative that enabled readers to feel as if they were participants: "She has meant a lot. She renewed children's prose."[1]Literary researcher Ying Toijer-Nilsson, who wrote a biography Skuggornas förtrogna ("Confidant to shadows") of the author, echoed the remarks, saying that she would miss "the warm and humorous human being who was Maria Gripe." When I was a girl I read one of the other two books in this trilogy. Recently I was reminded of them, and am so glad to be able to find them on openlibrary. I suspect, based on this read of this first book, that it's Harald Gripe's drawings I loved the most. I'm such a sucker for winsome-looking children.
The story itself is almost like a Ramona Quimby story. Josephine has chosen her name because her given one, she decides, doesn't suit her. And she has very distinct ideas about what is good, what is naughty, and what Old Man God thinks about it all. Some of her confusion arises because each moment with her father, the Vicar, is precious but insufficient. Some arises because she is by far the youngest child, effectively an only child to older parents who probably thought they were done making babies and rearing children with lots of attentive nurture.
What a charming little girl, who lives in such a quaint but still thoroughly lively community. I look forward to the next book, in which, I expect, her horizons will be broadened and she might learn better to see the perspectives of others....

На корицата пише, че авторката е сравнявана със сънародничката си Астрид Линдгрен, което веднага ме накара да я купя. Наистина напомня леееко на Емил от Льонеберя, но е далеч от класата на Астрид. Книгата се оказа първа от трилогия, разказваща за проятелството между две деца в малко шведско селце. На първата книга слагам ниска оценка, защото момиченцето не ми беше твърде симпатично.

Maria gripe sangat cerdas, kata saya begitu selesai membaca buku ini. Dia bisa membayangkan dunia anak-anak dan menceritakan apa-apa yang ada dalam kepala seorang Josefine yang lugu dan “unik”. Baiklah, saya akui setiap orang pernah mengalami masa itu, tapi jujur, sampai sekarang, saya bahkan tidak bisa ingat, hal-hal konyol apa yg sudah saya pikirkan dan lakukan saat masik kanak-kanak dulu.
Namanya, Anna Gra, tapi dia merasa nama itu belum tepat dipakai sekarang, jadi dia menaruh nama itu dalam kotak sepatu dan membukanya nanti bila dia telah cukup besar untuk memakainya. Dia merasa semua orang dewasa itu tidak sopan dan kejam kepadanya. Mereka selalu memarahinya padahal dia tidak pernah berniat jahat bahkan kepada Agnetta sekali pun, dan Erik. Dia tidak jadi memberikan kupu-kupu yang dibuatnya dari cadar pengantin Agnetta karena kakaknya itu menangis dan meneriakinya dengan marah. Orang dewasa memang bodoh, begitu pikirnya.
Dunia anak-anak yang penuh imajinasi dan misteri diceritakan dengan sangat menarik. Konsep pencipta yang disebut Allah Tua, bintik-bintik hujan dan surga bumi, dan konsep tentang sungai malaikat yang suka mengubah anak-anak baik menjadi malaikat. Saya jadi teringat, cerita takhayul sering dipakai orang tua untuk memperingati bahkan menakut-nakuti anak, seperti cerita tentang sungai malaikat itu. Apakah cara tersebut berdampak positif? Dalam buku ini diceritakan dengan saya baik, membuat saya tidak berhenti tersenyum.
“Sejak dia menerima si gendut dia mulai tahu, walaupun dia tidak bisa menerangkan alasannya, bahwa tidak menyenangi sesuatu yang sempurna itu adalah wajar. (hal. 108)
“Orang kadang-kadang ingin membayangkan,” kata Ayah-Bapa. “Dan karena orang senang membayangkan Allah sebagai orang tua yang bijaksana, maka mereka buatlah gambar orang seperti itu.” (hal. 129)
“Nah, inilah sedihnya. Orang yang saling memberi hadiah belum tentu akur satu sama lain. Lebih baik saling memberi kebaikan dan kegembiraan. Kita berdua selalu melakukan hal itu. Dan kita tidak membutuhkan hadiah, kan?

“Josefina” es un libro de mi infancia del que ya no recordaba nada. Me ha encantado volver a leerlo.

💬Josefina es una niña con una gran imaginación, que vive rodeada de adultos. Su padre es pastor de una Iglesia, con lo que vive en una vicaría junto a sus padres (ya mayores), una hermana que está a punto de casarse, con lo que no le echa mucha cuenta, y la vieja cocinera de la familia.
Se siente tan sola Josefina que acaba haciéndose amiga de una mujer mayor de la aldea, que la colma de regalos y lo que parece comprensión.
Todo ello, unido a sus líos mentales con Dios y su obra, hace que sea muy ameno este clásico.

Es un excelente libro infantil. Josefina es un muy buen personaje que, desde su perspectiva infantil, cuestiona la normalidad de las cosas con preguntas muy sencillas. Es fácil comprender por qué ella piensa y hace las cosas, más también se observa cómo el resto la ve como una "niña rara", ya que al estar tan sola da paso a que fluya su imaginación hasta llegar a estas ideas.
Es una lectura entretenida, especialmente por los conflictos con los juegos de palabras, como el jardinero que era Dios, o también el asociar su nombre con el de algo mayor y decidir cambiarlo hasta ser grande.

This was one of my favorite books as a child. It was also one of my older sister's favorite books. Recently I was thinking about it and borrowed her old copy and read it again. I loved it once again. It's a real treasure.

Ahhh suka sekaliii! Ini novel kedua favoritku di tahun 2022 setelah Gadis Jeruk! Kepolosan Josefin memang bikin sebal, gemas, dan geleng-geleng kepala. Namun, sebagai gadis yang baru menginjak "dunia dewasa" beberapa bulan lalu, novel ini seakan mengajakku berkelana kembali ke masa kecil.

Si bien el libro está redactado en tercera persona es increíble como simula que lo está contando la misma protagonista.
El hecho de que sea tan eficaz a la hora de transmitir la perspectiva de una niña es el fuerte de este libro.
La historia no es la gran cosa pero cumple a la hora de transmitir su mensaje.
Recomendado para niños que empiezan a leer.

My grandma read this book to me when I was a little girl and I was happy to find it in a local thrift store a few weeks back. Now, I have read it to my five year old daugther and we both enjoyed it, from our separate perspectives!

Jag tycker verkligen om hur lättläst och engagerande Maria Gripe skriver, speciellt hur Josefins tankar känns så närvarande. Däremot tyckte jag handlingen var rätt spretig och omständlig, och jag var inte alltför förtjust i hur handlingen med tant Lyra slutade. Men helt okej läsupplevelse!

Hopefully I can review this at least reasonably impartially; not surprisingly, I read this as a child because of the protagonist's name...do you know how few books there are with characters named Josephine? well, there are very few! Also, I was then a dreamy little child, and to this day am just a bit biased toward books which feature similarly dreamy kids.
Josephine is set the summer before the eponymous child begins school and so therefore before she’s got any school chums to spend time with. She fills her time with daydreams—the village crone is a witch, the newly hired elderly gardener is God incarnate—and misadventures ranging from cutting seven butterflies out of Agneta’s wedding veil to presenting her balloon to the King of Sweden upon falling at his feet from the top of a wall. She gets in trouble, as many kids do--she cuts seven butterflies out of her sister Agneta's wedding veil to make gifts for the wedding party and can't understand why everyone's so upset! The veil was so long and she only took a few scraps. Thankfully, this turns out better than could be hoped; she befriends her sister's fiance when she discovers he got in trouble for doing something similar as a child (cutting a parachute out of the curtains).

Me dio más de lo que esperaba. Mucho más, creo.
Me dio una historia conmovedora acerca de una niña con anhelos de ser importante, de no crecer, pero al mismo tiempo de ser ella misma. El personaje de Josefina realmente me gustó mucho, y debo admitir que es uno de los pocos protagonistas infantes que parece real.
Siento que su modo de ser, su esencia propia es totalmente pura, ella es una niña pura.
El avanzar de la historia fue un poco lento, debo decir; no había acción, pero puedo entenderlo porque, claro, es un libro infantil. Quizás por este lado está la razón de la ausencia de algunas estrella.
No creí que me iba a sorprender pero, honestamente, lo hizo.

I remember loving this book as a child, but I didn't remember the story (except the angel book marks). So I reread it--and loved it. Gripe has crawled into the mind of this imaginative child and writes so you feel the child's anxiety, absolutely empathize with her hurts and resentment, and want to both smile and shake your head at her lies, misunderstandings, and imagined fears.
Simply written, beautifully told, this is a treasure for any child or anyone who remembers what it was like to be a child a little lost, a little lonely, and a little looney.

I think this was really enjoyable book. Written in really childlish way like the author knows perfectly the brain and the feelings of one little kid - especially those of the 7-8 years old girls :D
Anyway I really liked this book and I`m looking forward reading the 2nd part - Hugo and Josephine.
