The Devil's in the micro transactions and the road to them is paved with good intentions (or depression whichever you're more prone to) add AI to the mix and the result is sadly all too plausible. Give yourself the gift of low-level depressive affects today, read this novella!

This short story offers an unnervingly plausible and unsettling vision of the near future—one where artificial intelligence isn’t designed to make our lives more efficient, but rather using computer generated “relationships” to curb our loneliness. While the potential to build hope and motivate people toward positive change may seem to justify the risks, this novel also highlights the potential to cause more harm., offering readers a chilling insight into the impact of artificial connections in a disconnected world.
