Oath Bound
Dingus Xavier has been a Knight-Junior for all of ten minutes when his Master drops him off in the tree city of Windish to fend for himself. When Dingus strikes up a friendship with the tiny pickpocket Tai, he gets in over his head with a vicious criminal organization he never knew existed.
When Dingus needs his Master most, though, Vandis is halfway around the world trying to budge immovable principalities into taking action against the slaughter of hundreds of Knights in neighboring Muscoda—and trying to survive to return to Windish.
Dingus promised to keep his nose clean, but he takes his oath to help the weak and the poor in deadly earnest, and his actions will shake a city to its foundations.

You will see the return of favorite characters: Dingus, Kessa, and Vandis, Krakus (I love Krakus), Stas, even those you love to hate like Lech. (Pbbth.) Then there are the characters who will be your new favorites. I won't tell you for fearing spoiling but stare closely at that cover, folks, and then get to reading.
Hard Luck, book 1, was really the story about a bullied youth who finds a home in his mentor.
The Service, book 2, showed Dingus becoming the knight we all knew he could be.
In Oath Bound, book 3, we see Dingus' transformation from knight (a name, potential, but just that) to a Knight in truth as he upholds the vows he took in the Service and makes them real, living things to abide by.
The story is one where we see Dingus truly come into his own. Separated from his mentor, he must make hard decisions based on his own standards of right and wrong--and he does the difficult thing when the easy would have gotten the job done, if not done well.
The story sings with beautiful language. You'll sink into the world with the author's skillful voice winging you on your way.
Check out the whole series and be prepared to stick with this author for the long haul.

Damn you, M.A. Ray!
Damn you to hell for writing a novel that pulls at your very heart strings until you are unable to draw breathe, caught in that place as you are between crying and serious distress!
For creating characters so lovable they nestle deep into your mind so you'll never be free of them!
And most of all, DAMN YOU FOR MAKING ME CARE SO MUCH!
It has been an incredibly long time since I've ached with longing to read the next novel in a series and truly suffered with the knowledge there is nothing else. Yet.
M.A. Ray is no longer a novelist, but an enchantress that ensnares your very mind and paralyzes you in her spell.
So, I think we're all in agreement when I shout:
"Hey-la-hey, let's have another!"

Damn you woman and your wondrous way with words. Oh and damn to your cliff hanger! I absolutely positively adored this book as much as the last two. Dingus is growing up, Tai is hilarious, and just great work!

The characters were beautifully developed, the world that was created was alive and full, the life lessons were rich and not preachy. It grabs you by the throat and pulls you along for the ride. New players were introduced and so lovable that they integrated seamlessly into the ensemble. I highly recommend this author and this series.

This saga just keeps getting better with each book. The struggles of young Dingus Xavier, who tries to do the right thing, even if the world fights him at every turn; Vandis f***ing Vail, his mentor; Kessa, his companion. They are not blood relatives, but they are a family.

Another brilliant entry in the Saga of Menyoral series. Lots of great character interaction and beautiful descriptions make this tale of Rothganar really come to life. Can't wait for the next in this saga.

Loved this next installment of M.A. Ray's Menyoral series. By now it's like meeting old friends when I visit with Dingus, Kessa and Vandis F-ing Vale.
Adore the Ishlings and can't wait to see to what happens next.
