On a mission to the Philippines Nick Carter of the Project finds ancient gold coins in a terrorist stronghold. The terrorists have been using the gold to buy weapons. Where did the coins come from? The discovery sets the Project team on a collision course with a ruthless terrorist who dreams of an Islamic Caliphate in India and a dying spy from India's CIA seeking revenge for the murder of his wife and son. All the while, a secret global conspiracy is manipulating events from behind the scenes. The conspirators want to provoke war between Pakistan and India and launch a nuclear missile at China.

Clues hint that the gold coins are part of a legendary treasure looted from India in the 18th century by a Persian King. Among the stolen artifacts is a mystical jewel known as the Eye of Shiva. One man is obsessed with finding it and fulfilling a prophecy predicting the destruction of India's enemies.

Nick and his lover Selena struggle with their doubts about each other even as they risk their lives against murderous enemies. As the war drums grow louder and tensions rise on the sub-continent, Nick and Selena are caught in a race against time to stop a nuclear war that will devastate China, Pakistan and India.

The Eye of Shiva is a fast moving story of love, revenge and intrigue, guaranteed to keep you turning pages.

I like Barbados rum, old, fast motorcycles, playing guitar and books by authors like Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Alex Berenson, Craig Johnson and Lee Child. I write action/adventure thrillers. WHITE JADE is the first in a series featuring the PROJECT, a small, elite counter-terrorism unit. There are currently 23 books in the series.

AETERNA EST ORDO NOVUS
(The New Order is Forever)
Frightening realistic! In today’s world numerous warring factions are in a desperate struggle to reform the world, change borders and shift the centers of power. Tensions have long been presented between India and Pakistan, not only over the province of Kashmir but also between Hindus and Muslims. When a group of terrorists conceives a plan to cause hostilities between India and Pakistan and forcing the United States, the Philippines, and other countries to choose sides, the Project with Nick Carter and his team find themselves caught in the middle. With both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers, making this scenario all the more frightening. The Eye of Shiva is a large ruby, originally placed as the center eye of a religious statue but stolen long ago and now presumed lost.
Post-Cold War is far from peaceful and hotspots seem to spring up everywhere. As one of the few remaining world powers, the United States finds itself more involved than they would like to be. James Bond without the fast cars, tech toys and easy women. Readers with an affinity to different weapons will appreciate the endless trivia that the author so aptly mixes into the tale. The cheesy dialog is my only criticism. Although I’ve enjoyed reading this book I don’t think the quality is as high as other similar writers such as James Patterson, David Baldacci, Jonathan Kellerman or Daniel Siva but it is promising nevertheless.

Another very enjoyable book in what appears to be this little known Project series. This one revolves around the Legend of the Eye of Shiva, and the friction between India and Pakistan which is exploited by terrorist groups. An enjoyable and quick read but in the matter of personal affairs I wish Nick and Selena would sort themselves out, they need their heads banging together! Perhaps in the next book!

Another fast paced good read, lots of politics and two warring religious factions, complcated by a 3rd party terrorist group.
I always enjoy these books, that do need to be read in order to understand the characterisation.
The underlying tensions in the love interest continue to bubble - hope this gets tied up in the next book

"The Eye of Shiva" is number 8 of a series of books focusing on a secret US anti-terrorist team called "The Project" by Alex Lukeman.

The story begins with a raid on a terrorist camp in the Philippines where an ancient gold coin is found. From there, the plot rapidly expands before focusing on a plot to start a nuclear war between India and Pakistan.

The project team is led by Elizabeth Harker and consists of Nick, Ronnie, Lamont, and Selena who each have their own back stories that have obviously been shaped over the previous 7 novels.

This was the first Alex Lukeman book that I've ever read, so I'd recommend starting at book #1 "White Jade" if you're going to work through this series .

This was a great action-packed novel with several twists and turns. Of course, being a series novel there were some items left open at the end but that's all part of the fun.

A recommended action-thriller page turner. - See more at: http://publishing-adventures.blogspot...

India or Pakistan

Wars begin based on feuds from hundreds, even thousands, of years ago. What does it really take to start one?

Another great book. Two religions clashing either side of the frontier, and both nations are nuclear, throw in terrorism and greed then stand well back!!!!

A much more plausible plot then the previous novel. There is nothing more dangerous than a powerful intelligence agent fuelled by the loss of his wife and child in a bombing, and also living on borrowed time and wanting his revenge before he dies. Add to this the fact that he is easily manipulated by very strong forces looking to wreak havoc in the Far East, and you have a powerful reason for The Project Team to become involved in retrieving the situation.
Nick and Selena are still puzzling over their relationship, but they still show just how much they rely on each other and, in this episode, Lamont Cameron, now recovered from serious illness, as well as a former Huey helicopter pilot with Vietnam experience. Stephanie, techno wizard, is the one who has tracked down a character they call Cobra, and it is their pursuit of him that forms the body of the story, although there is a side issue relating to lost Moghul treasure which includes The Eye of Shiva that forms the title of the book.
Plenty of action as usual, so the plot hurtles across the globe as the threat of nuclear war needs to be addressed. Well done, Mr Lukeman, on maintaining the standard.

I’m not familiar with “The Project” series, so this is the first book I read from this collection.

I felt like the author is a big fan of “24” and used a lot of elements from the show in this book. Terrorism, government conspiracy, super fast wireless technology… whenever Nick showed up, all I pictured was Jack Bauer.

The story was well done and there were some really good parts that kept my eyes moving along the page. The description of the protests and riots was spot on.

I could have done without the “will they/won’t they” romance arc, but it didn’t ruin the main story for me. I did find the ending scene a bit rushed and lazy, but I won’t spoil anything for those who have yet to read it.

This was a decent book, and I would be curious to explore the rest of the series.

The Eye of Shiva by Alex Lukeman is the 8th book in The Project series and it will have you on the edge of your seat. Nick, Selena, Ronnie, Lamont, Elizabeth, and Stephanie are all back to face off with an unknown foe and stop a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. There's a lot of unknowns but The Project works through brainstorming and Elizabeth's intuition to piece things together. The only problem is, are they able to stop things before it's to late? Hang on to your seats!

Book Summary :

This is a great addition to The Project series and continues the relationship aspect of Nick and Selena while adding in a lot of suspense and thrills for the team and the situations they find themselves having to resolve. One of the things I love about The Project series is that the hero's can, and do, get hurt, have personal conflicts, and you never know what may happen. A lot of books have the hero's win and save the day and there aren't many, if any, consequences but not the Project. Anything goes.. I had no clue how this story would play out since we've seen before that as soon as you think it's safe things go bad but the story line introduced us to new characters and a thrilling plot that leaves you wanting more. It also sets the stage very nicely for a continuation of confrontations with AEON.

This is more than just a simple story, it's a series that continues on and leaves you wanting more after you're done reading. Alex has done a great job of finishing the stories in a way that makes you want to move on to the next book right away and see what's next for The Project, as well as the individual characters. Definitely pick up The Eye of Shiva and get ready for a fast paced thriller that will not disappoint.

This free download aspires to be in the class of thrillers by Vince Flynn, Ben Coes, and Daniel Silva, but it doesn't quite make it. The plot lacks the complexity and sophistication, and feels underdeveloped. The one unusual thing I noticed is that Lukeman's characters discuss plans that they don't end up following, which is actually closer to real life than what you find in other books of the genre, so I give him points for that. Overall, though, I found The Eye of Shiva just okay. 3 stars.

Action-packed, fast-paced, suspenseful thriller!

The Project, what a team! I love the characters, and the scenes are exciting and intertwining. The intrigue between India and Pakistan is illuminating. Revenge and vengeance is controlling Rao, head of intelligence and spies. It was very difficult to put down this book. Alex Lukeman sends you on a journey from the Philippines, India, Pakistan, and even to Afghanistan. You must not miss reading this book. There are twists and turns with plenty of surprises. Happy reading! 😊

Not read this author before but it popped upon book bub. Enjoyed the location of the book which was set in the kyber pass area running along the India and Pakistan and Afghanistan borders. The characters were a little one dimensional and not even the love interest between nick and Selena helped me put some personality into them. Perhaps spooks are deliberately seen as cold and interested in getting a job done.

Good

In the first part of the book, it was very easy to get confused. It kept jumping from one scene to another. It finally settled down and was an enjoyable thriller. I was constantly in suspense as to what was going to happen next. The ending brought it all together and made for an enjoyable day of reading. I would give the book a 4.5 if I could.

Great drama

This book is action packed from cover to cover with covert operations. Very entertaining. The tension between India and Pakistan lends itself to high drama and this story encounters quite a bit. This book is hard to put down as you wonder where the plot will go with each turn of a page.

The story is fantastic and very plausible. The narrative moves fast and brings out a wide range of emotions. I just wasn't a fan of the author's style. Keep in mind, this is book eight, so perhaps it was the fact I haven't read the previous ones. But, there is also no need to as this story is like an episode of a TV show. It's a great story on it's own.

Complicated

I really liked this book on so many levels. It is the first one I have read in this series. I intend to read more. I took my time to read it. Usually I finis a book in a day or two. This one was so rich, I wanted to savor it all. Complex story, with interesting characters.

Action!

Great characters, lots of action. Saving the world from terrorists is a class act with this team. There is no going against them that is going to work well for the "bad guys".

Typical Project undertaking--lots of bodies and destruction. Who is trying to start a nuclear war between India and Pakistan? Who is the mysterious AEON Group, and what are their aims and intentions? Only the Project people know!

Relief from my everday

I've grown quite fond of this authors thrillers lately. They are a pleasant, but kick ass alternative to my usual fare. The plot is believable, the characters are earthy, and the action comes in just enough doses.

Initial reaction was confusion with character intros & scene jumps but the more I read the more intriguing & scary the story became. Love the Projects group. Not reading in order is no problem. Each book is a stand alone. I read the Enigma Strain first & intend to read others as I get them.
