It began with a hookup. It ended with everything on the line.

Riley
As a single guy in professional hockey, my life has been about what you’d expect: hockey and girls, emphasis on the girls. And Logan, of course. He’s my best friend, my teammate, and the person who knows me better than anyone.

When a night on the road ends with us in bed, I don’t know how to explain it. I told myself it was a one-time thing, but it happened again. And again. Now I want more.

If I admit I’m falling for Logan, what does that mean? Everything changes: my identity, my public image, my entire life. But pretending it’s nothing gets harder with every kiss, every touch.

Logan
Riley’s younger and straight. Off-limits. At least that’s what I told myself when the feelings crept in.

Now we’re sleeping together, and I want this more than I should. Not just his body, but his heart, his trust, and his future.

But Riley’s confused, and I don’t want to push him. If he chooses me, it has to be real. If not, I’ll lose the man I love, my best friend, and maybe the only chance I’ll have at forever.

Overtime Goal is the fourth standalone in the bestselling Buffalo Warriors Hockey series. Expect a bi-awakening, best friends to lovers, an age gap, and a hilarious found family of nosy teammates. You’ll also find explosive first times, high heat with dirty talk, medium angst, and a hard-earned HEA that will have you cheering from the stands.

Okay so the straight MC was trying to kill the gay one, right? That's what this is?

"I'm straight, except for you."
"What does that make us? Friends with benefits?"
"We're way more than that. We're best friends who need to show each other how we feel."

The only thing worse than a callous fuckboy is an earnest fuckboy because WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

I'm seeing zones that have never existed before.

Riley pretty much said you are EVERYTHING to me. Except a boyfriend. Or someone that I can say I'm romantically into.

But everything else. Trust me, bro.

💀

Riley dragged Logan around so long that by the time he was finally ready to face his bisexuality, Logan was OVER IT.

When I tell you I was cackling like a witch when he made his big 'I think I'm bi and I'm really into you and would like to see where this goes....' speech, only for Logan to be like....

Look man, I think we've been friends a while and that's the emotional connection you're feeling and you're projecting your daddy issues onto me.

💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

I was living for it.

Realized he'd let this guy who was twelve years his junior drag him around by the balls and he didn't want to play anymore.

Fucking finally.

Being understanding and shit. Sounding tired and worn down.

'Going out with Natalie was the logical decision. I don't think you did it to hurt me. I was just collateral damage.'

And Riley's just standing there with tears in his eyes thinking fuck, fuck, fuck.

LOVE WHEN THEY FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT.

Imagine being all over the place thinking you have all the time in the world and then finally wanting to commit and the other guy saying I'm sorry, I don't want to do this anymore.

😂Good times.

I usually hate breakups in books but I liked this one. I like that the older MC acted older and made the choice that was right for them both.

Riley was all 'IF I'm bi then MAYBE we COULD see this through...'

Lots of conditional words.

Logan finally put his feelings aside and said look, man, I really like you but I'm 35. I want to settle down with someone who KNOWS they want the same thing as me. And you're struggling so much with this and have always said you want a wife and kids and maybe you should pursue that, but even outside that, you're just not ready to settle down right now (crazy business but these two would be somewhere together and Riley would be looking at hot women. Sooo much wandering eye syndrome - but also he's just 23 so maybe some slack was warranted?)

Anyway. They needed to breakup. It had really gotten to a point where they were both holding the other back.

Well. More of Riley holding Logan back. Because he wanted to have his cake and eat it. Straight in public but 'emotionally and sexually self - contained besties' in private.

Now Mr If and Maybe is having daytime nightmares about Logan marrying his ex😂😂😂😂😂😂

We love to see it.

That said, my paragraph waxing lyrical about this breakup lasted longer than the actual breakup💀

But.......BUT. I'm a sucker for grand declarations, especially desperate, frenzied ones.

I feel like Logan made his point. Stood on business, too. Had a date set up for IMMEDIATELY after the conversation 😂

Told that man.... Now that we're done, I'm headed out and maybe don't wait up😂💀

And Riley got himself together with the QUICKNESS when he realized he'd lost him. Most efficient breakup.

Had Mr Don't Brush Up Against Me In Public running through streets in a foreign country hunting him down to publicly win him back.

So. No complaints from me on the duration of the breakup.

Last hour bored me, though. Just the usual housekeeping. Figuring out how to tell their teammates, if they'll come out publicly et c.

*minor complaint about the first chapters being disorienting AF because they kept referring to what happened in LA, and I was wondering if I'd started the book in the middle because it seemed like the reader was supposed to know what they meant. Had to go check the previous book to see if it had been mentioned there. Then it was revealed in bloody flashbacks. Thought I'd lost my damn mind.

“We all do things that spook us. Sometimes that’s good because it can open us to something new, maybe something we’ve denied.”

Overtime Goal by Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood is the fourth book in the Buffalo Warriors Hockey series. I’ve read everything Ryan and Josh have written, so I knew I’d enjoy it. And wow, this book wasn’t just good, it turned out to be one of their best. Hands down my new favourite in the series.

In this series hockey usually plays a big role, but this one is different. Most of it is set in Positano over the summer, so hockey isn’t really the focus. Instead, it’s all about friendship, found family vibes, and the relationship between Logan and Riley.

“We’d lose each other if we said the wrong things and got into a fight, and we’d grow apart if we kept ignoring the gigantic elephant in the room.”

Logan has been one of my faves ever since he showed up in Crossed Sticks. He was introduced as this early-thirties guy (the other openly gay player on the team at that moment) and he’s left his mark throughout every book. I’d been waiting for his story forever and it did not disappoint, it hit every note I was hoping for. And Riley… oh, Riley, he completely destroyed me (in the best way). I was mad at him, worried for him, heartbroken for him… cried more than once, honestly. And when he and Logan finally opened up to each other and shared how they felt? My heart was so full.

“That moment had knocked the fear out of me, Riley charging through a crowd and grabbing me by the soul.”

These two are perfect together. They fit in ways you wouldn’t even imagine. They’re truly made for each other. Like, Packy wasn’t wrong when he said (and the whole team assumed) “you two have been codependent for years,” but in the best possible way.

“My feelings for him were too big to control, and I was sure he liked me too. But could he ever care about me the way I did for him?”

I loved Riley’s whole journey of self-discovery. I felt like I was right there with him. It hit close to home for me and reminded me of my own experience. Coming to terms with being bi (or pan, in my case though I figured that out later) isn’t always easy. Your environment, upbringing, all that stuff, it shapes how much you repress or hide. And seeing Riley go through that was both painful and healing.

“Nothing is as simple, or as complicated, as it seems.”

I’ve read a ton of bi-awakening stories, but for some reason this one hit harder. Maybe because I already knew these characters, and it felt like reconnecting with old friends. Or maybe because Ryan and Josh just know how to write emotions that get under your skin. Either way, it made me stop, reflect and listen to myself, something that I don’t do often enough.

“Life might be hard sometimes, but I’m going to live the hell out of it.”

So yeah, I absolutely recommend this book. You can read it as a standalone, but honestly, go read the whole series, they’re all worth it. Ryan and Josh did it again. They’ve written a tender story full of heart, spice and all the feels.

I received an eARC via Literally Yours PR for free, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Arc review

Well, what can I say, Ryan and Josh, you have knocked this one out the park, and written yet another glorious book.

Logan Greyson and Aiden Riley need to address what happened between them while they were in LA. Neither want to discuss their hookup, and what went on.
Seeking help from the Warriors captain, Harper, Riley decides to broach the subject with Logan.

Riley suffered abuse at the hand of his parents (please read the trigger warmings), and has frequent nightmares as a consequence. He likes it when Logan comforts him, when they have friend sleepovers. Riley is straight, or so he thinks as no-one has ever made him question that side of himself, that is until his best friend, Logan. Logan is openly gay, and has always found Riley very attractive.

On the off season from Ice Hockey, Riley and Logan rent a villa for a month on the stunning Amalfi Coast in picturesque Italy. The surroundings make them fall in love with the place. Riley starts to fall for Logan. After a few hookups, questions need to be answered, but with some miscommunication, can they talk their problems through? Riley comes to the conclusion what he feels for Logan makes him bisexual, and then he starts to fall hard and fast. Logan has always been a little in love with Riley too.
What will happen when they leave their piece of heaven and return to the real world?

Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood are just incredible authors, the love they have for each other, comes across in the love their characters possess. I adore their writing, and it flows effortlessly and sets up place in your heart. The storyline has you gripped in this best friends to lovers, age gap story.
They make you empathise with all the characters in a heartfelt, heartwarming way, even when they have misunderstandings. Riley and Logan both have histories that you want to find out about. I loved how vulnerable Riley was around Logan, and he knew he was all in with him, despite him being a man.
The descriptions of the beautiful Amalfi coast, make me want to visit, I can smell the scent of lemons in the air.
The Warriors are all featured in this book. They all care and love one another unconditionally. If one hurts they all do, just like any family should. Even if they are all busybodies!

It is no secret that I adore these authors, but with Riley and Logan they have made me appreciate them even more, always bringing first rate stories to the front, and they write the best hockey romances .

“You're my first thought in the morning and my last at night. You're where I want to land”.

I love the Warriors and am hoping there is more to come.

Thank you Ryan and Josh.

Something happened between hockey teammates and BF's Riley and the older Logan, something that changed their dynamic. Instead of talking about it, they buried it and now it's affecting them. Riley won't admit he's bi when all he can think about is Logan. Logan has the patience of a saint while Riley dithers, am I or not? It's a romantic story filled with angst and steam about two guys with an age gap but are still BF's. I received a copy of this through BookSprout and this is my voluntary opinion.

Opposites, teammates, one unforgettable night—Riley and Logan’s chemistry is off the charts, and this series just keeps getting better!

This series never disappoints! Riley and Logan—teammates, friends, and total opposites—have their world turned upside down after one unforgettable night. Logan is steady and grounded, while Riley is the wild ladies’ man, but their chemistry is undeniable.

Fast-paced, well written, with depth, banter, and plenty of steam—I loved every page. I’m hooked on this series and can’t wait for what’s next!

This is book four in the authors’ Buffalo Warriors Hockey series and two more teammates are permanently off the market.

I loved this book—full stop, no qualifiers… but dayum, I have to admit to being worried there for a little while!

Riley, who I wasn’t too very enamored with in the beginning, broke my heart with his nightmares and nightmarish childhood. Even with that said, I still wanted to knock some sense into him for his sheer obliviousness in how he his behavior was hurting Logan!

I felt for Logan so much. Feeling the way he did for Riley, he suffered each time Riley flirted with or took a woman home and it grew worse when they started their situationship. In one particular instance—I’m not saying he wasn’t justified in being upset—but when he went stone cold on Riley, I wanted to knock some sense into HIM too!

Even as I read, I knew, intellectually, that we’d get our HEA but I have to say, I was constantly low key worried for probably the first half of the book—if they were ever gonna be able to get past Riley’s doubts and questioning—THEN I got downright worried when they were in Positano and everything turned upside down. Suffice it to say, there is definitely some angst involved. I know I probably should’ve had more faith in the authors than that but I’m kind of an emotional reader, they cry, I cry and you can bet, there were tears involved!

This is a must read for anyone who has read any of the previous books in the series or even just loves hockey romance. It had some humor, mostly from team antics, but there’s absolutely no fluff involved. By the time you finish reading however, you’ll be grinning like a fool but with full knowledge of how close a call it was there for a little while. Check it out! 5 stars!.

so sweet

I don’t even know what to say. I am obsessed. I knew I would love this book when I found out who the MMCs were but it far exceeded my expectations. Logan and Riley had me crying and swooning, I absolutely loved them. It was so good to see more of the Warriors crew as well. I can’t wait for the next one.

Logan & Riley (Aidan)

"Tread softly because you tread on my dreams." - Yeats

"We could just be us, surrounded by the biggest bunch of good-hearted goofballs anyone had ever known."

There were so many moments where I just wanted to bop the guys on the head. They were both so stubborn and closed off and didn't realize how detrimental their lack of communication was for them. I know they came to their senses, but it was genuinely stressful for a while.

I liked the overlap of this story's timeline with the last book. It gives a better idea of when and how everything happened. And I love how often we get to interact with all of the previous MCs, except Luca in this one. It helps that the other couples are all their teammates. The combined stories and the ongoing friendships their team has formed make the series that much more enjoyable.

Overtime Goal was an incredible story with two very stubborn characters. Their hockey journey aside, their summer romance spending that quality time unearthing their feelings and learning even more about one another is what saved their relationship. They each had let memories in their pasts build a wall around their hearts, and it took real reflection (and unfortunate distractions) for both of them to recognize their future. Logan had loved Riley for much of the time they were friends, but it wasn't a forever kind of love without Riley's love in return.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this duo writes up Packy's story next. I know it'll be a lot of fun, and I always enjoy a good enemies/rivals to lovers story.

I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

1st person POV Dual
Plot 4.25/5
Spice 2/5
Emotions 4/5
Bi awakening
Best friend to lovers
Age gap

This series just keeps getting better! Logan is calm and steady to Riley's chaotic nature! Feeling get involved, While Riley struggles with trying to come to terms being attracted to a man, Logan falls deeper and feels like he isn't enough for Riley. The emotional depth of this story is high at times, but as with all the books in this series there is the comedy that balances it out! I love that the friends group is a meddling bunch in this book as well!

Logan and Riley have the best friendship and a perfect connection. Logan was in love with Riley but Riley was convinced he was straight until and walk in LA happens. They then have to work out what they look like moving forward and if it will be worth it. This book is full of nosy teammates (who are all hilarious) and is perfectly written to keep the reader engaged from start to finish. The whole series is wonderful.

One is out, and the other is still finding himself—after a very steamy night with his best friend. And yes, I mean steamy 🔥. These two are absolute fire together. They don’t want to lose their friendship, but they aren’t sure if they can take that next step… until they head overseas for the summer, and everything gets tested.

The way they came together (pun definitely intended 😉) was exactly what they needed. I loved how supportive their teammates were, encouraging them and digging into the relationship the same way they did with their own.

I can’t wait for Packy’s story!!

Logan knows he's gay. Riley thinks he's straight. They have a sexual encounter in Los Angeles that gets Riley thinking. They lose in the playoffs, and the two men head off to Positano. Riley has dinner with a big deal model who knows about Logan, so the next night when Logan is having dinner with HIS old friend and Riley shows up, no more dinner. The two men - Riley has figured out he's bi - come back and become the third gay couple on the Warriors team. By the end, they are married.

I loved this. There were moments I really wanted to shake Riley because his feelings were so obvious, but in a heteronormative world, it's sometimes hard to see yourself outside of that. As usual, I loved seeing past MCs as side characters. One of the things I love most about this duos writing is how amazing this found family is. These characters are all different and yet show up loud and proud for one another. I felt for Logan having been in love with his best friend for a while. The story was beautiful, too. I now really want to go to Italy! Honesty, I really loved this one. I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest review.

Overtime Goal by Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood is an uplifting MM Romance now available on Kindle, paperback, and Audible. As a devoted fan of the authors and their Buffalo Warriors Hockey series, I pre-ordered my copy of this fourth installment. It did not disappoint!

Overtime Goal plunges us into the bewildered and turbulent world of Riley and Logan, who find themselves navigating the aftermath of a passionate encounter from the previous year that Riley isn’t ready to confront until now. Riley, who has always considered himself ‘straight’ and lived the life of a ‘womanizer,’ embarks on a powerful journey of self-discovery and bisexual awakening. The layers of his past gradually unfold as he grapples with his burgeoning feelings for Logan and what it means to embrace his bisexuality. The suspense builds as we uncover the truth about what transpired in LA, during a Warriors road trip, along with Riley’s abusive past, exposing a complexity of emotions.

Riley and Logan sneak off to the beautiful paradise of Positano, Italy, for their summer vacation. This setting of forced proximity compels Riley to delve into his abusive past and examine it along with his feelings for Logan that emerged from their steamy rendezvous in LA. Set against this stunning backdrop on the Italian shore, the authors unveil the vivid picture of sun-soaked days and sizzling chemistry. You can practically feel the warmth of the sun and the thrill of each shared glance. One of the standout moments is when they hop on a Vespa for an exhilarating day trip—weaving through coastal roads, with Logan steering and Riley gripping from behind, serving as a metaphor for their friendship. You’ll practically taste every delicious bite alongside them as they explore local eats.

What’s truly powerful is how the story unfolds the painful reality of the physical, verbal, and emotional abuse Riley endured growing up. This backdrop shaped his identity in ways he struggles to comprehend until he reaches his anagnorisis. Meanwhile, Logan is a steadfast friend, doing everything he can to support Riley while hiding his deep-seated feelings of love and fear. Their dynamic is tense as they try to communicate the feelings bubbling beneath the surface in the most intimate ways.

Despite the age gap, which might seem significant, it plays a minor role in their dynamic. Their friendship spans four years, and Logan’s initial attraction to Riley never overshadowed their bond. But when Riley allows himself to explore his attraction, everything changes, and you’ll hold your breath as Logan grapples with his desires and fears.

Logan and Riley are full-fledged characters. They have depth, believable emotions, and actions that always make sense from their individual perspectives. Their complexity makes them come to life and make you feel like old friends by the time you turn the last page.

The structure is expertly crafted, allowing both newcomers and fans of the series to dive into the story seamlessly. While it stands alone, previous main and supporting characters appear, offering a satisfying depth to the narrative. Flashbacks and conversations between Riley and Logan skillfully reveal the intricate history between these characters, intertwining their past with Riley's current self-exploration in a captivating way.

To anyone who enjoys tropes of bi-awakening, best friends to lovers, and codependent main characters; and MM books with spice, love, and laughter, this book is for you. After finishing Overtime Goal, it became one of my all-time favorites—and for stories of bisexual awakening? It’s currently my number one pick! Grab your copy and prepare to be swept away!

This was a really sweet book. Logan and Riley have been best friends for 4 years and have a deep and wonderful connection. After a night in LA, the line between them come blurry. Logan wants more as he is in love with Riley but Riley has always known himself as straight. The chemistry between these two is great. There is a little bit of angst with Riley trying to come to terms with himself but these two are able to work through things and get a wonderful HEA. I can't wait for Packy's book next!

Another game winner for Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood!!

These authors are well renowned for their world building and extensive knowledge of hockey but I love that this book stepped away from that a little bit, in that it mostly takes place in the off season. Riley and Logan have already been introduced to us in the previous book as best friends with a possible hint of something more, so I was more than ready to see where their story went.
When a gay man falls for someone who presents as straight, the opportunities for heartbreak seem endless. I was moved by R & J’s ability to navigate this minefield with sensitivity and compassion. Logan is trying (and mostly failing) to protect his heart and Riley is trying to protect their friendship while struggling to figure out what this massive shift in thinking will mean for him.
The setting of Positano, Italy was a gorgeous choice. The sights, sounds and smells were brought to life with incredible accuracy. You can tell this is a place the authors know well and love. It was stunning and romantic!
R & J took their time with this story—slowly building layer upon layer of emotional development within these characters that let us truly see the progression of their feelings. The angst was not thrown in artificially but served a real purpose in moving the story forward.
There was a gentle steadfastness in Logan that I found very appealing. It was nice to see a professional athlete portrayed as intelligent, educated and sensitive. The stereotype often says otherwise and this was a refreshing change. Riley’s confusion felt so real. He suffers from nightmares and a horrific childhood that have led him into a pattern of promiscuous behavior difficult to break. Logan is his rock, his everything. It just takes him a little while to figure out he is also the love of his life. But when he does, oh my…I thought my heart would burst!
Is there heat in this book? There is plenty! But more importantly there is a healthy dose of “love making” as well which makes it even better in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, there are scenes that will scorch your kindle but there is a beauty there as well that sometimes led me to tears.
I’m definitely a fan of Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood, I’m a fan of the Warriors and I will always be a fan of Riley and Logan. Don’t miss this great book but also pick up the rest of the series. I promise you will fall in love with them all!

Logan and Riley are best friends who truly want the same thing, but there’s a few obstacles in the way. Logan‘s not sure he’s worthy and he is willing to take whatever relationship with Riley he can get. Riley hasn’t felt a lot of love in his life, and he’s worried that if he’s in love with his best friend that he doesn’t know who he is at all since he’s always identified as straight. They are both petrified of losing the friendship between them.

The path these two take to their happily ever after is messy, with sweet happy moments, some frustrating choices and a few tears. But it feels real - there’s no smooth, contrived, immediate acceptance in this book. There’s nosy loving teammates, a gorgeous model, an icky ex, and an Italian vacation bubble that helps until it doesn’t.

One of my favorite thing things about a Taylor and Harwood book, is it they do not shy away from the hard topics. It is easy to write about mentally and emotionally healthy, confident men who know exactly who they are and what they want. It’s a lot harder to show the real life battle to accept that you might not have known who you are, your past doesn’t define you and following your heart can lead to true happiness. Don’t miss this fantastic book!

These two were so cute and fumbly. Like they could just have talked it out but they spend like half the book just being dumb. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story. I love them. I wanted them to pull their heads out of their booties and just get to the point faster. Logan and Riley were perfect in the book. Definitely recommend reading

This is such a great series and I think Riley and Logan’s story is a great addition! These two go from being teammates and best friends to something so much more and it’s a great mix of heat and sweet! I really liked these two together, even in the ‘just friends’ times, you can feel that they have a great connection and something special. I was rooting for them to figure it out and really be able to find their happiness together.

It takes some work for them though, Logan is out and proud but Riley is straight, or at least he thinks he is. Again, there’s a connection between these two and one night they act on it. It’s confusing for Riley especially because he can’t seem to let it go and go back to chasing the pretty women. It causes a strain on their friendship too, until they finally talk things out. They decide to act on their attraction, keeping things simple but it’s never that easy. Especially for Logan, who has had strong feelings for Riley since meeting him but never thought he had a chance. After the season ends they decide to take a vacation together and continue exploring their physical connection, but it becomes more, even if it’s not intentional and not completely understood. The question is can they really open up to each other and explore what is happening without hurting each other.

I really did enjoy this book, I loved seeing them sort through things and ultimately find exactly what they need in each other. There are definitely moments where my heart hurt for them and what they were going through but it’s totally worth it for the love they share. Logan and Riley are really sweet together and a perfect fit and in the end made my heart so freaking happy. I also loved getting to see the guys from the previous books, it’s like visiting old friends. I’m definitely a big fan of this series and always look forward to more of this group!

This is the fourth book in the Buffalo Warriors Hockey series. Each book is a standalone read. The Warriors hockey team is the overall common denominator. Each book deals with a different couple and this time it is Logan Greyson and Riley Aiden. Both are professional hockey players on the same team. Logan is older and more centered. He is solid and quieter. Riley is the younger member of this duo and is he more outgoing and loud. They suit each other well as they fast became best friends. They do everything together. Logan is an openly gay player and Riley is straight. It causes no friction between them until one night in LA. Now Logan is worried that it might cost him his friendship. Riley is confused and starting to do some self examination. Ignoring the situation and hope it goes away doesn't seem to be working for them. Obviously sharing a house on the Amalfi Coast for the summer will make everything better. I guess they will find out. This is their story. The book is very well written and easy to read. I enjoyed both characters. Their chemistry is off the charts. Then of course is the rest of team ready to step up and help where needed while chirping away. I really enjoyed this book. Some topics are serious and treated with the respect they deserve but overall I found it to be a light and enjoyable book. I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from LYPR and I am voluntarily leaving a review. A nice slow burn hockey romance with a happy ending. I look forward to the next book in the series.
