There are many number of reasons we read. Many reasons a book stays with you. There are books that hold your attention, take you on far away adventures, and show you endless love. But then there are books that grab your heart and soul and make you live there. If only for a moment you are a part of that great story. For hours, you are the hero, villain, lover... you are everything. You are the story.

Everlost and the world of the Night Watchmen is one of those books. It has been a while since a story has grabbed a hold of my heart like the one of Faye and Jaxen. Everything about their story bleeds pain, struggle, and war. But through it all they push through with hope and love. They keep strong with the knowledge of who they are and what they stand for. And use that to rally against an evil that will bring their world to its knees.

In Everlost, secrets threaten to break their already weak shields, but in the end it is their sheer perseverance that keeps them going. That keeps their head above water and from sinking into despair. When you are the enemy of the world, it is hard to be the fighter you want to be.

But that's what everyone in this story is... a fighter. Strengthened by his or her inner and outer demons. For many their differences break them, but with the characters of Everlost it is their differences that make them fierce.

Faye, strong, powerful beyond words and the only one of her kind. She is destined to be killed by her love and to bring hell on earth. Yet she's also the only one who can stop it. Sure there are times when the weight of who she is makes her want to crumble, but in the end she pushes through all the bad and uses it as a strength. Ok, sometimes, it bites her in the butt, more like mostly, but she never gives up, and that's a strength in my book.

Jaxen, who is cursed to never love, for fear of losing her, is a soldier through and through and will give his life for the cause. He's a dark outer shell with a sweet chocolate middle that can only be unlocked by the one who holds his heart.

Weldon, who defies the odds with his very existence. Is the very definition of strength and perseverance. And is deep down just another misfit using his differences as a show of strength.

So many of Candace Knoebel's characters are riddled with pain, loss, and struggle, yet manage to fight on. Each character riddled with the hurt of their past and held together by the hope of their future.

In Everlost we meet new characters and receive new hope just as it is all taken away from us again. Everyone we have grown to know and love is in for a fight that very well could kill them all. Candace Knoebel certainly knows how to toy with your heart. I wish I could tell you all that happens in this book, explode with the perfect words to make you read this incredible series if you haven't already, but there really are no words for a book that lives on long after the words cease.

All I can say is this. Everlost is beautiful and climatic in a hauntingly exquisite way. Long after you close the book Faye and Jaxen will nuzzle their way into your thoughts and heart and continue to haunt you until the next story unfolds. Each time they will grip your heart in hope, loss, fear, excitement, and love. And each time you will thank them for the ride. Each time you will be taken closer to the edge of all that the world of the Night Watchmen has to offer, where you will go mad with the desire to know the rest of the story. You will scream out in agony as your favorite characters are tortured, battled, and broken. You will ooh and awe as your favorites find love, push through darkness, and find hope. Then you will curse the skies when you are left without knowing all that there is to know, but in the end you will beg for more.

It will be torture of the sweetest kind. Torture that gives you just enough to placate you until the next installment, but enough to drive you mad with the unknown. Candace Knoebel is a genius. But I beg you, please Candace Knoebel don't let my torture last too long and deliver the next installment before my heart leaps out of my chest. I have to know what fate lies ahead for characters that have stolen my heart.

The Night Watchmen is a series that I will constantly shout out to people when they ask for that next book recommendation. It is the epitome of what a book should be. Whatever that is for you, this is it. Everlost and its world of the Night Watchmen will deliver.

Plus there's Jaxen Gramm!!! That is the best reason to read this book, HAWT DAMN! Yes, he is a reason. Trust me, meet him for yourself and you will ask me to write my entire review with his name.

So do yourself a favor... go out and start this series if you haven't already. And if you have, then read Everlost.

I started reading this book as soon as I had finished reading the second book in this series! I was really excited to read it and continue the character's story! After really enjoying the last book, I had big expectations for this book! I had some ideas as to where the plot could go, but luckily I didn't look too far into it because I just wanted the plot to take me on an adventure, and that's exactly what it did! The plot was full of twist and turns and my head was spinning by the end lol! The author put so much into this book and it left me hooked and desperate to find out what was going to happen next for the characters! I really can't find the words to describe the plot because it just blew me away and was completely different to anything I've ever read! New characters were also introduced and I can see them bringing a lot to the story as this series continues, which I can't wait to read! The ending of this book was also left at the perfect place! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Faye was again the main character, and in this book Faye and her friends were in more danger than ever! Faye was also on an emotional roller-coaster in this book and she was being pulled so many different directions! My heart really went out to Faye in this book because she never expected her life to turn out the way it had, but she was determined to do the right thing and keep the people she cared about safe! I just loved Faye and I loved her strength! She had also grown a lot from the girl I met at the beginning of the first book, and I can see her growing even more as this series continues! Faye was also very easy for me to connect with! Jaxen was again the love interest of Faye, and in this book his main aim was to keep Faye safe and to not let her get herself into too much trouble lol! Trouble did seem to follow Faye though, so Jaxen certainly had his work cut out for him lol! I loved Jaxen in this book! He had some insane amount of love for Faye and he was always there for her to help her through everything! I admired Jaxen a lot in this book too because he also went through a lot and he had people come back into his life that he never thought he would see again! A lot of secrets were revealed too, which explained a lot to Jaxen! He handed everything brilliantly though! This book was again only written from Faye's point of view like the other books were! I was obviously expecting this, but I actually loved this book being only written from Faye's point of view! I would have still loved to have went into Jaxen's head too though lol! The secondary characters were also amazing in this book! Every single one of them added so much to the story and they all had their own part to play whether it was good or evil lol! I also can't wait to read the next book in this series! I'm really happy that it's already released so that I can read it straightaway! I would have been desperate for the next book if I had to wait lol and it's definitely my next read! I can't wait to continue the characters story! The cover for this book is also perfect for it! I love how well it suits the other covers in the series and that it has the same models on the front too! The models are the perfect Faye and Jaxen!

Blog Tour Post: The Shadow Realm

I really don't know what to say. This series just keeps getting better and better. Everlost was a phenomenal read and I really don't know how Knoebel expects us to wait for the forth book because I need it NOW! Everything that is revealed in this book left me reeling and had my head spinning with scenarios of how it is all gonna play out. Of course Knoebel loves to throw in surprises so I was constantly second guessing as to what would happen next. New players are introduced, and with them comes revelations that, I personally, have been dying to get.

Knoebel's writing is one of the best I have ever come across. Her way of telling a story is so all consuming, so intoxicating, that everything around you disappears and all that is left are her words, her story. She has such a magical quality to her writing, I found something worth highlighting on nearly every page.

I'm not gonna say anything else because I don't want to spoil the story. If you haven't started this series yet then you are sorely missing out! This series is seriously amazing and I cannot get enough of it. I'll be sad to see it end.

I was so glad for the crew escaped from Clara, just hate how they seemed to sit around in this one. I enjoyed Jaxen and Gavin getting to know about their mother's life since she has been gone. I had a feeling about Charissa for awhile.

Now on to Cassie: how could they not push a little harder to figure out why she was lapsing like she was throughout ?! I just feel they would question but not push!

As for the end, I was really pissed at Faye for how she acted and how she put them in danger because of her temper.

I still love Weldon though!

Hmm. Mixed feelings on this one. I got bored half way through, and it was a struggle for me to finish this. Essentially, I just wasn't invested enough in the characters. There was too much inner monologue from the female lead for me...and the constant questioning of herself about how she is going to save the world became repetitive. I think it was quite simply too young adult. I'm quite sad about this, because I think that this book series could have had great potential. Anyway, you cant please everyone all the time, and plenty of other people seem to like it.

Eh

This has taken me forever to read through this book. Faye is getting on my nerves. I get having emotions, but she's always withdrawn and scared. I was expecting a stronger character by the third book.

MC too annoying

I just can’t stand the MC. All the characters are annoyingly oblivious, to the point of being willingly so.

Disappointed with the storyline.

I remember buying the entire series on a whim a year ago. I knew next to nothing about them, having only read the blurb for the first book. I have to say that I do not regret that decision.
Faye's struggles grow harder and harder as the story progresses. It's one step forward and three back. At this point, you know all the characters and their quirks already. You know them so well, that when one of them isn't themselves, you notice. And it's heartbreaking because you can't do anything except watch and hope for the best.

It's then I realize just what I have to lose under this curse, or in this war. What my death will steal away from me.
Time.
I'll lose the moments where his smile lights up like the sun. Where his touch tells me secrets only we share. Where a future of growing old and gray could become a reality.

I NEED MORE! Each of these novels has me falling even more into the world of the watchmen. I can't seem to get enough of the characters and their stories. The journey alone that they have endeavored has me addicted.

If you have read this far into the series then you are as hooked as we are. It is quite the addicting set of characters. If you are new to the series please go back to book1, this is book three and will contain spoilers for the first two novels.

This novel was really about growth. Each of the characters had their own struggles to come to term with, least of all Jaxen. He had a lot going on in terms of his love and now the return of his mother. This alone gave us a full plot line.  Throw in the tension we have with Weldon and Jezi and it made for a great buildup to this story. Everyone had things they needed to face and the time had come for them to do so.

Everything has been culminating the past 2 novels and now things are really getting dicey. Characters were pushed to their limits and some things were bound to fall apart with that happening. It was quite the literary journey reading about this adventure. Candace has a way with her writing that you can be reading and get through 5 chapters before you realize you got sucked in. It flows seamlessly with apt character development and an on point plot line. The dialogue is easy to follow and the story as w hole is wonderfully edited. I can't say enough good things about this book. You don't want to miss it.

This is the third book in The Night Watchmen Series. I loved it!

Faye Middleton is a wonderful character, although I didn't like her very much when I first met her in Everlasting. She is a teenager who has had some major angst in her life. She has faced the culling and found out that she not only does she have affinity to both witch and hunter powers, she is the only one able to handle the Dagger of Retribution. Now older and wiser after her run in with Clara, Faye finds herself facing an even bigger challenge: dealing with Evangeline Gramm and fighting a war she's not sure she'll survive.

The story is again told through Faye's point of view. It is an emotional roller coaster ride from beginning to end. There are some new characters introduced into the story and they each bring their own personalities and problems, from werewolves to vampires. Evangeline Gramm did what she thought was right in order to protect her boys, but I'm not sure if she did the right thing or not, as she left them with some deeply scarred emotional baggage, especially Jaxen. However, it was the introduction of the other rebels where things begin to get interesting. I loved getting to meet Chrissa. She is a wonderful character, with an innocence that made me want to hug her; she is very sweet. It was also nice to meet Weldon, Jaxen, Gavin, Jezzi and Cassie again. Faye's friend Katie also returns, but she is now emotionally scarred from being held captive and tortured in Ethryeal City.

There is excitement, danger and adventure aplenty in this book, with lots of twists and turns and more than a few surprises. The relationship between Faye and Jaxen moves on to a new level and their intimacy is sensual without being too explicit. The end of the story has a surprising twist and, although it doesn't end in a cliffhanger, it does give the reader the feeling that there are some unfinished loose ends that require tying up. I do hope that there is another book, because I would love to see if Clara and Bael get their comeuppance!

Candace Knoebel has written a fantastic continuation in this YA paranormal romance series. I loved her writing style, which is fast paced and it flowed wonderfully. I haven't read her other series, Born In Flames Trilogy yet, but having read this book, I will definitely be doing so at the earliest opportunity!

I highly recommend this book if you love YA paranormal romances. - Lynn Worton

Everlost picks up right where we left in the previous book. We finally get some answers to some of the surprises we had but as you can imagine, the answers only bring more questions.

In this new book of the Night Watchmen series, things get even more complicated for Faye and Jaxen. The evil takes a darker tone and all her love ones are under a threat. Faye has to become the powerful force her enemies want to destroy but she is afraid to be. Friendships, alliances and love itself will be tested during this new story.

I always said that Faye is a really good character. She is no disappointment this time, she gets braver, stronger and now there is no doubt that she will change the world. I like her dynamic with the rest of the characters. Each one brings something to the table and each one is important on their own way. Weldon is super funny and I liked his contributions to the story.

This book brings us Evangeline. The Gramms’ mother comes with a pack of surprises. She will be the key to understand the past and the present.

The writing style is the same we had in the previous books, the passing is fast, the dialogues sound real and the descriptions of scenarios and battles is so good that it’s easy to imagine you there in middle of the action.

One thing I loved about this book is the more mature tone. We had a similar aspect in the last installment but this time the story is sexier, the passion is palpable and the heat reaches high levels. I always loved the relationship between Faye and Jaxen but now they put the bar higher, they take their relationship to a place of no return. Their love lives outside the pages of the book, it’s too strong and beautiful to be contained by pages (or a kindle).

Overall, I loved this new book. I can’t wait to continue the series. Candace keeps writing amazing books and completing this world where magic, demons and other creatures are real and extraordinary.

I’ve said it a million times before, and I’ll say it again, there is no end to the brilliance that is Candace Knoebel. Every word she churns out to create her spellbinding and breathtaking stories leaves me in awe. She is a master of her craft and just the thought of picking up one of her books makes me giddy with excitement.

Everlost was a spectacular continuation of a series that will forever spark my imagination. With exciting characters and plenty of action and adventure, it ignited a plethora of emotions within my soul, and by the end of the book I felt like I had fought each and every battle, whether physical or emotional, alongside Faye and her friends.

With added twists and the introduction of new characters, Knoebel upped the ante with this book. My heart broke for the Gramm brothers as certain details surrounding their mother’s abandonment were revealed. It opened them up to a world of pain but also gave them a chance to heal. And then there was the revelation of the well kept truth of the curse on their bloodline, which shattered my heart a little more. With the fight between good and evil on the horizon, how they were expected to cope with everything was beyond me.

Faye has grown from strength to strength with each book, but there is still a vulnerability to her that is very endearing. The weight of the world rests on her shoulders and her resilience was tested the entire way through this story. She was constantly fighting to make the right choices and in the latter half of the book she was pushed to walk a very fine line between doing what was right by the world as a whole, or saving those she loved the most.

This book was filled with emotional ups and downs. At times blithe and cheerful, and at others terrifying and heartrending, this book had me smiling one second and in tears the next. It was a magnificent read and I cannot wait for the next instalment.

Everlost is all about family; creating them, losing them, the sacrifices you'll make for them. A big part of that storyline is Evangeline; the Gramm's long lost mom. She arrives and she doesn't come alone. She has companions and a whole lot of secrets.

As is par for the course nothing is easy for Faye and the gang. They've got the super evil Clara and her cronies after them and the Darkyns. They fight hard, they win and they lose but they never give up, even when survival seems impossible.

There is still Jaxen/Faye romantic sweetness - deepening trust and support - and hotness Despite all the chaos Faye and Jaxen find a little alone time. I also have to mention Jezi. I've come to like her so much. She's still tell it like it is and can be abrasive but she's also kind, bracing in the best way, and a good and true friend you can count on.

The prose in Everlost stood out to me. The writing seemed more poetic and lyrical. And as always, I'm left eagerly awaiting the next installment, especially with how Everlost leaves off.

I didn't enjoy this one anywhere near as much as the first two. Part of the problem was that there was no recap, it just jumped straight into the action. It's been a year since I read the last book and I could only remember hazy details, so I kept getting confused which made me lose interest. Then there was all the dramatic similies like how looking at Jaxen's eyes was like looking into heaven itself and it was all so ridiculous and flowery that I got annoyed. I gave up around the 80% mark which is very unlike me, but I suddenly realised that I just didn't care how it ended at all.

It's a shame, because it could be good, I think Knoebel just needs to find a better editor to get her to reign in on some of the more eye-roll worthy descriptions.

Everlost?

Everlost is an action packed rollercoaster ride from the moment the story begins till the last page. Everything is beginning to come together as all the puzzle pieces begin to fall into place in this installment of the series. It would appear that the Rebellion will continue to suffer loss after loss at the hands of Clara and Bael. How much more can Jaxon and Faye endure? Can't wait to see what happens next for these Watchmen and what's left of their of their Rebellion. Can Clara and Bael be stopped?

This is not a stand-alone book and should not be treated as such. To understand the storyline in it's entirety it is importer start with the first book in the series.

Highly, highly addictive, and yet, I found myself again disappointed in Faye who continues to make the same mistakes over and over again. She never seems to learn from her selfish, rash decisions that keep on getting those around her hurt, and I was hoping she'd become somewhat more rational and clear headed after Evernight-- but nope. I blame the lack of sound character development. Still, I have to admit that it was easy to be pulled in by Everlost. The consistent action and Weldon makes for great entertainment value, hence, the four star rating.

Random thought but I'm pretty sure the spin off series will be about Chrissa.

Wow all the secrets that just come exploding out of this story just pack a punch and keep on coming. The things that happen to these characters and what has happened are so heart wrenching. I for some reason was under the impression that this was the end of this wonderful series, though i have book 4 marked as to pick up. When i got to the end i was like no no wait you can;t leave me like this. Wonderful steamy story, a must read

The world is going to hell and only the Everlasting can fix it but no one is sure what exactly needs to happen.
Gripping, emotional rollercoaster. the grimm curse is revisited with shocking new information. Clara's greed continues to grow and the rebellion is building only to get knocked down time and time again.
Candace has out done herself, remarkably well written with soo much more to come ill be itching to read book 4.

Just okay. It took forever for me to read this one. I tried starting it twice before and couldnt get ito it. It felt like a lot of sitting around talking, planning, waiting. Too many parts of Faye being all life philosophical. Plus she keeps making rash, emotional decisions that end badly. Of course there were good parts, but overall I didn't care for this one much at all.
