Smoke A Hitman’s Melody

By A.A. Lewis

Born into a legacy of bloodshed, Semi “Smoke” Adeoye was destined to kill. Groomed by his father, one of the most feared assassins of his time, Smoke carved out his name as the deadliest in the game. Cold, calculated, untouchable.

But everything changes when he takes an assignment that should’ve been eliminate a woman named Melody Moreno. Instead of pulling the trigger, Smoke hesitates—and that one decision flips his entire world upside down. Now, he and Melody are targets, caught in a deadly web of betrayal and deception. With enemies on every side and time running out, Smoke must rely on the instincts that made him a legend to protect the one woman he was sent to kill.

As they navigate the shadows together, a dangerous bond forms between them—one that threatens to cloud his judgment and compromise his mission. Because in a world where love is a liability and trust can get you killed, every move they make could be their last.

A.A. Lewis takes you on a whirlwind ride in the first explosive installment of the Smoke and Fire Series, as brothers Smoke and Fire blaze their own paths through a world of killers, chaos, and consequences

Smoke has his name honest as he definitely brought the smoke. I love A. A. Lewis’s writing style, but this one takes the cake for me and I wish I can read it over again for the first time. I even loved the pets in this book lol, Zeus and Satan are in the family as well. Action packed, lovable characters, with just the right amount of spice. Smoke is definitely one of my new boyfriends, and I absolutely cannot wait to dive into Fire’s story. I can already tell he’s gonna be a menace in the best way possible.

A good crime story is something I adore. As a hitman, Smoke has an assignment to complete, but things don't go as planned. Melody is a victim due to her being the target. Smoke tries his best to keep her safe and here’s where things get interesting. I was here for the mystery, action, and secrets, but I had no idea what made Melody special 🤣.

Where there's SMOKE, there's FIRE. Let’s see the energy Fire has behind his big brother in book 2.

I read this one for my Sisterhood of the Traveling Annotation book this week, and baby… Smoke was outside causing quiet chaos long before love ever entered the chat. This man was moving in silence, handling business behind the scenes, and keeping his world neat and controlled.

And then she shows up.

Shorty stepped into his atmosphere and flipped everything upside down. The calm? Gone. The focus? Shaken. And I loved watching that shift happen in real time. Smoke’s demeanor, the way he spoke to her, the way he carried himself, yeah, that alpha energy was strong.

But let me be honest… I was side-eyeing her for most of this book. I could not fully determine if she was solid or if she was the opps. I was in my feelings about her the entire time, and I still am. Which means I absolutely have to read Fire’s book because I need closure.

If we’re being real, A.A. Lewis rarely misses for me. She always delivers a story that pulls me in and refuses to let go. Drama, tension, layered characters...I stay locked in every time.

Another solid read. 🔥📚

A.A. Lewis is a new-to-me author. After reading and really enjoying her series 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔, I was hungry for more of her work. When she said she was looking for ARC readers for her 𝑺𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒆 & 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒆 series, I knew I had to join her team!

What I really like about A.A. Lewis is that you don’t have to wait months, weeks, or even days for her to complete a series because when book 1 in the series drops, you get the second installment the same day. So, when I was able to get my hands on the entire 𝑺𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒆 & 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒆 series, I tripped over myself trying to get home to read it and I must admit, I was not ready! This series was so much more than I expected, and it was so so so so good!

The 𝑺𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒆 & 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒆 series consists of two books. Book One is 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐤𝐞: 𝐀 𝐇𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐝𝐲. Book Two is 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐰: 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐲. This series is a crime thriller romance. It is an action-packed series with so many twists and turns and mysterious characters and in the background of all of that, we have two men, who were born into a world of darkness and death where love meant vulnerability. But what happens when they meet two incredible women who are worth dying for? Will they finally decide to leave the dark underworld? Will they choose love over their loyalty to the game?

A.A. Lewis is an incredible writer. Her vivid, descriptive writing style allows the reader to transport themselves into the characters’ world. While reading I felt like I was watching a movie. There was so much going on, which kept me on my toes. I had so much fun reading, and the books were so entertaining, that I just could not put them down. They were really good page-turners. As soon as I finished the first book, I immediately started next one.

I also liked the characters in both stories. Because this is a hitman, crime, mafia type read, the characters are far from angels but as a reader, you are able to understand why they make the decisions they make, and though flawed, we get real characters that are very relatable. The female characters, Melody and Symphony were strong FMCs who I really liked (Symphony being my favorite overall character in the series) and the male characters, Smoke and Fire, were the ultimate protectors of their women. I also really loved the relationship between the brothers and how they stood tens toes down for each other, putting their lives on the line not only for their women but for each other.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable series that I highly recommend. If you are looking for an intricate, thrilling, mysterious series with some romance and spice, this is the series for you. I have really been enjoying A.A. Lewis’ work lately and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Rating 4.5⭐️ Smoke A Hitman’s Melody had me holding my breath like I was the one ducking bullets. From the very first chapter, the tension never lets up. Smoke is carved from violence, trained by a killer, perfected into a weapon and the scariest part is how controlled he is. Smoke is dat 🥷🏾 cold, precise and unshakeable. So when he hesitates yeah, you already know the universe is about to flip a table. That one moment of mercy cracks everything wide open and suddenly nothing feels safe.

Melody I’m sorry but she’s been a complication since her name hit Smoke’s phone. I wanted to trust her. I really did but the entire time I was side eyeing her like, Sis… are you solid or are you the setup? There’s something about her presence that keeps the air uneasy and I think that’s intentional. 😒You feel Smoke’s internal conflict because you’re right there with him, instincts screaming while emotions start whispering.

Smoke’s protectiveness is fierce in that quiet lethal way. He doesn’t talk much but every move says touch her and die. The pacing is steady but heavy, like chess pieces being placed while bullets flying nonstop. Plans are forming. Lines are being drawn. Betrayal feels inevitable!!! This book is clearly laying groundwork and it does it well without feeling slow.

Hurry up Fire I’m already bracing myself. Where There's Smoke, There's Fire you know things are about to escalate in a way nobody is ready for. This story isn’t just about a hit gone wrong. It’s about legacy, instinct, trust and how one choice can turn a predator into prey. I’m locked in, suspicious and emotionally invested. Somebody tell these people to survive because I’m not ready.

Are you here for the Smoke? Always

First off...
1. The cover is beautiful.
2. The visuals of the characters are gorgeous.
3. The title played its part in this story.

This is an action-packed story with romance, betrayal, secrets, and so much more. Trust me you will finish this book in one sitting.

Storm is all about his business and that's what I like in a man. The business that he's in is not meant for everyone to know. It had me wonder how many people are living this life that you may or may not know.

When an assignment came in, Storm was locked in. Being proactive was key to completing an assignment as requested. That's until he was faced with a situation that took a left turn. This is where Storm went against the norm. Yes, I yelled at him a few times. This is not you. Can you trust this person? Why now?

I can truly say that every character played their part. Some I loved. Some I had reservations about. Some I did not trust. That's life.

As I read this book, I saw it as a movie. I would love to see this on TV or at the movies. This story is written well and very engaging. Great Job!!!

I am recommending this book to you. You will not be disappointed.

UGH 😩😩😩

OMG 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️!!! I LOVED SMOKE AND I AIN’T GONNA PRETEND LIKE THAT LIL SNIPPET OF FIRE AT THE END DOESN’T HAVE ME INTRIGUED. LET’S ADDRESS THE FACT THAT I DESPISE ONE SIDED POV,S🤷🏽‍♀️. I DON’T NEED TO HEAR FROM ALL PARTIES INVOLVED BUT I AT LEAST NEED TO HEAR FROM THE MFC🤷🏽‍♀️.

QUEEN AA LEWIS CAME OUT THE GATE SWINGING AND KEPT ON SWINGING FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE BOOK. IT KINDA DRAGGED IN THE MIDDLE AND HAD ME A LITTLE FRUSTRATED AND READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL, BUT I WAS DETERMINED TO SEE THIS THROUGH. I SWEAR I COULDN’T WAIT FOR THEM TO TAKE CARE OF DANTE BIH AZZ, HE REALLY THOUGHT HE WAS THAT NINJA BUT HE WAS A TRUE MITCH🤣. THE STORY PICKED BACK UP AFTER THAT. THE CHEMISTRY WAS BURNING HOT BETWEEN SMOKE AND MELODY AND I KNEW THE MOMENT HE ALLOWED HIMSELF TO LIVE IN THE MOMENT SOME MORE ISH WAS GONNA KICK OFF AND BOY WAS I RIGHT😳. AREG REALLY THINK HE GOT ONE UP ON SMOKE BUT SMOKE USED HIS LAST HELL MARY TO SEND OUT THAT SMOKE SIGNAL .

WHERE THERE’S 💨 , THERE’S 🔥!!! THIS HAD ME STRESSED TF OUT🤦🏽‍♀️. NOW I GOTTA FIND ME A LOVEY DOVEY READ BEFORE I TACKLE FIRE’S BOOK 🤣🤣🤣.

Whew!! This thang was action packed! 🔥 Smoke had a job, easy right? Take out this woman and collect his money, like he always does. However, right from the start something about this hit feels off. A man with his instincts knows when to trust them. So, he hesitates for a split second, and all hell breaks loose! Now both he and Melody are targets, but why? As the clues come together Smoke realizes that much more is at play here, but he plays to win. Along the way, he and Melody bond in a way they shouldn't while being hunted.

Damn Smoke, how you let that happen? 😤 Then Marcus and Leo are caught up too? Ughhh.... 🤬
Where is Tee? I loved how Smoke called out for his brother, and I can't wait to see him bring the Fire!

Smoke

Dang, so that just happened! A cliffhanger!

This series is good, good! At this time, I don't see how smoke is going to get out of this situation but where there is smoke, there is fire. So let's hope that his brother gets there in time.

Smoke and Melody fell fast. He couldn't kill her once he saved her life. And her Dante was a piece of work, wrong on so many levels. He thought he had the upper hand, however the Armenians rolled in and took control.

Dante is dead, Yuri is dead, and it looks like Smoke, Leo, and Marcus are headed to the upper room as well. Poor Melody is about to be trafficked. Hopefully Fire gets there in time.

Whew Chile, let's get to the next episode.......The Outlaw: Fire

Smoke is a ruthless assassin and doesn’t care about any of his target until he meet Melody and this turn both of their world upside down. He only had two worries himself and his two dog cane cores . then he took a job that end up being a set up and he wasn’t going to rock with that .He has to stay on the hunt for and run with melody from different Assassins and he only has a small circle that he could trust .it was crazy and exciting and it was steamy between them two because of the sexual tension and how they are trusting each other to survive this ambush. 10/10 would recommend u read

“Where there’s smoke there’s fire”
This was so GOOD! It started slow and not in a bad way. Once the action starts it doesn’t STOP until the very end. I really enjoyed the FMC Melody, she was not going down without a fight! Smoke, the MMC is everything a hitman should be - a dark and dangerous man a few words. He and his crew were on point and about the business. I loved the slow build up between Melody & Smoke. I can’t wait to see what happens when Fire and his crew step on the scene.

Smoke

Smoke was a beast when it came to his jobs.
This time, he let a woman pull him in deep.
There was something about how he went to bat for her. I dont know if she was really worth it. Smoke was great at what he did. His team went to war with him.
I knew it wasn't over, but he got to comfort.
I love how A A Lewis brought us in and left us on the cliff.
Fire is going to be a great book.

Smoke: A Hitman’s Melody is the kind of book that grabs you on page one and refuses to let go. A.A. Lewis blends grit, emotion, and atmosphere with a smooth, rhythmic writing style that feels like a soundtrack, each chapter moving with purpose, tension, and surprising depth.

If you’re looking for a story that’s sharp, stylish, and full of mood—something that keeps you thinking long after you’ve finished. This book is absolutely worth picking up. A powerful, memorable read.

Highly recommended.

There’s something undeniably captivating about a man who knows how to handle a weapon and this book leans all the way into that energy. From start to finish, the action had me completely locked in, constantly on edge and needing to know what happens next. This was my first time reading A.A. Lewis, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’m already impatiently waiting to start the next installment of this series.

Smoke, a man on a mission

Smoke was about business the moment he entered the scene. This was a quick, entertaining read that kept me turning the pages to figure out who would catch smoke from Smoke, how and when. He moved mountains to get what he desired. Can’t wait to read book 2.

action packed

This book was action packed from the very first chapter. The plot was plotting. Not a ton of spice but for me that’s ok if she plot is good. They could not seem to get away from the danger but the angst & yearning was there. The writing was very well done. I really enjoyed this book. That cliffhanger though… ugh. On to book 2

Action packed and kept me engaged. Smoke is a man of mystery... I'm still wondering about his relationships with Tee and Nia. And what makes Melody so special? Throughout all the chaos, I kept wondering why the cousin hadn't called his brother yet... oh but we will soon find out and I can't wait.
