Montana Mountain Men #5

Saved by the Mountain Man

Rate this book

Beautiful, rude and incredibly obnoxious, Teddy Barnett is wanted by every woman in Rockhead Point, and as far as I’m concerned, they’re welcome to him.

He made me an offer that I easily refused. Only now he’s changed his mind about what he wants from me, and he’s determined to make me change mine too. He’s used to getting his own way, but I have no intention of being just another woman who falls at his feet.

He can stalk me, he can try to seduce me, but what he’s forgotten is that he’s not the only gorgeous man in town.

But apparently, even in a place this small, danger can still lurk around every fork in the road, and it looks like fate might have decided to play its hand after all.

My mountain man watched me, followed me, saved me, and now he’s determined to keep me too.

These mountain men are FIREEE!!!!

TEDDY oh teddy that poor man who thought all these years he lost his "one" but he didn't. Let's go back abit Teddy is the youngest of the brothers and when he meets Juniper he is sprung like his other brothers but it can't be Juni is not his one he already had it and missed it. So she can be a fk buddy thats it and he goes with that and having Juni turn him down. Juni finds him and what he said to be a jerk but now finds out she's his "one" still doesn't believe him and thinking it's a joke her walls are so high Teddy is grovling and being a caveman on trying to win his woman and show her she's his one and only

I laughed at Teddy he wasn't like the other brothers he didn't kidnapp or mess with her birth control. His plan was stalk her, always be around her and non stop tell her she's his lol. If that doesn't work he'll just though her over his shoulder and tie her up lol. I gotta give it up to juni she held out and when teddy messed up big time she stood her ground and let both parties take a breather (even if Teddy wasnt) 🤣🤣🤣 only 2 brothers left.

No ow drama slight om drama, mo cheating, Secondary characters, Drama, sexy times, no virgins and H was a manwhore (before the h he fucked alot)

Wide disclaimer for this series because I'm posting reviews on books 1-5: these are over the top alphas. Like, minor stalking... kidnapping... not taking "no thank you I'm not interested" for an answer. Major breeding. Messing with birth control. Read it like you read a dark psycho romance - knowing this isn't an endorsement for the behavior in real life.

How funny that Teddy - the youngest Barnett brother who has always been seen as the most kind/gentle - is the one who crossed the line physically making the heroine feel safe. Yes, Huck took Cora's birth control (book 2) but she never felt unsafe with him physically. In this book he screams at her and restrains her from leaving while she sobs, to the point where everyone else has to separate them.

So yes... again... this serious is not for everyone. This is over the top on purpose and if that's not your thing, I GET IT - don't read it. Like, you won't enjoy at all. Speaking of, don't read it if you don't want to read a hero call the heroine "treasure" 142 times (approximately) or talk about how hard his dick is and how he wants to flood her with baby making juice (actually that's all the books in the series).

But full disclosure: I read all 5 of the books out right now in under 25 hours and I'm actually bummed the last 2 aren't out. If you enjoy Jessa Kane, Mink, or any of those other erotica novella writers, this is like that on crack - longer, better writing, more steam, better romance.

Also this one was a bonus because he didn't realize she was "HIS WOMAN" so he propositions her for sex and she says no and he's like "......wait wut O: y not!!!!" and then realizes he's a little shit. NICE.

CW: stalking, kidnapping, dubcon. Tread carefully if you are sensitive about anything domestic violence related - there is none in this book (he worships her) BUT the behaviors that all the brothers exhibit are very similar with abusive, obsessed men who stalk women

Teddy, the youngest of seven Barnett brothers, is sure that his one-and-only got away. Until he meets the feisty 20-year-old Juniper Henderson.

As the adage goes, nothing worth having comes easily. That couldn’t be more true for Teddy. While the Barnett men fall in love at first sight, the meeting between Teddy and Juniper is the opposite of a meet-cute.

Being back in Rockhead Point in the Barnett compound atop the mountain, seeing slices of life from our past couples was great. Each Barnett boy is swoonier than the last and I can’t wait to watch the rest of them fall like dominoes!

I love these Mountain Men stories so much that I squeal when a new comes out. Finally Teddy’s story and it was fabulous ❤️
Teddy feels he missed out on his “one and only” years ago when he didn’t recognize the feelings and has resigned himself to his fate of being alone forever. But then along comes Juniper and he doesn’t realize that she might be the one until big brother Beau sets him straight. Then he is on a mission to convince Juniper and boy does he mess up.
These Mountain Men stories have just the right amount of drama with an over abundance of Alpha Cavemen times that make these stories deliciously interesting and the reader cannot put them down.
Only 2 more Barnett brothers to go!

4.5 stars!

This is the fifth book in the Montana Mountain Men series and features Teddy and his girl Juniper (Juni). Teddy thinks that he has lost his chance at his one and only but it turns out what he thought was wrong. When Juni walks into his life, that caveman brain wakes the f*ck up and he single mindedly pursues her like all the other Barnett men do their women.

However, Teddy is in a different position than the other Barnett mountain men and in his perceived notion that he will never have 'the one' he makes a massive mistake and taints the relationship with Juni that could have bloomed faster if he hadn't been such a jerk.

Juni is now less than impressed with Teddy and can't imagine a future with a man who propositioned her in such a crude and unromantic way. Even though she is attracted to Teddy and wants him in her bed, she isn't up for having to salvage her pride and self-esteem after a short roll in the hay. But Teddy is intent on convincing her that he sees the error of his ways and wants her for more than a quick one night stand. He wants everything. Let the alpha caveman control commence.

“Hell fucking yes you are. My cock owns your cunt, it’s mine, this ass is mine and this mouth and these tits, every fucking inch of you belongs to me.”

I LOVE this OTT series and this one is just as good as the others. Teddy was just so alpha and I couldn't get enough of his controlling and possessive attitude. I loved that Juni challenged him and the two of them created a relationship that was unique to the two of them. The steam in here was really really hot and was perfectly balanced between sweet and spicy.

“How do I make you feel?” she asks cautiously, like she’s not sure she wants to know the answer. “Like I’ll live in perpetual darkness without you.”

If you love majorly OTT romances with an alpha male that bulldozes his way into his woman's heart and a heroine that is soft but fierce, you have to try this series. It's like catnip to me.

P.S. Gemma...I hope we will be getting some smokejumper's stories.....*wink wink*

Gah- this series is just so delicious! Despite convention, my fervent feminism, or even LOGIC, I somehow fall head over heels every time for the crazy, alpha, "you're mine" caveman antics of these Montana Mountain Men. Yummy- just yummy. But Teddy takes the cake, y'all. Saved by the Mountain Man is by far my favorite in the series. Brimming with the over the top alpha possessiveness Weir so deftly delivers, sweltering with dirty talking sizzle, and chock full of the magnetic chemistry that's permeated these stories, Saved by the Mountain Man has everything that makes this series so gosh darn addictive. But even better, Weir takes this one in a slightly different, but much welcomed, direction, and it made the romance all the richer and more charming. I could not put this Mountain Men story down! I gobbled it right up and wanted to dive back in for more.

I don’t want to spoil you on the Barnett brothers’ latest claiming antics, but I will say I was delighted at how fresh this particular outing felt in the series. While Gemma always puts a different spin on each story, the architecture is understandably similar- the Barnett men fall hard and fast just like the prophecy-like generational tale of their father and the brothers before them. In Teddy’s story however, Gemma explores an aspect of the Barnett mindset that I’d always been curious about- and it makes this story not only lots of original fun, but it makes Teddy stand out as the swooniest and most delicious Barnett to date.

Oh yes, Teddy sparkles. We still have all the growly possession paired with over the top swoony devotion, but Teddy proves something that the other Barnett men haven’t quite figured out. He can be possessive and dominating without being demoralizing or domineering. There’s a gentleness to Teddy’s breed of crazy that is just radically compelling, a respect and thoughtfulness that is both humorously challenging for him at times but also so very endearing. Dare I say, he’s the most logical of this batch?! He recognizes their insanity, and while he certainly dives right in, he also tempers it with a bit more patience. It not only makes him the most dreamy of the brothers thus far, without losing any of what makes this series so addictive, but it also makes his relationship seem the most substantive thus far. He bother possesses Juniper and is a loving partner to her- of course, the way it all plays out is what makes this particular story so interesting.

And Juniper is a fantastic heroine- also my favorite so far. She’s level headed, resilient, hard working and caring. She’s both self-assured and insecure in places, but refreshingly clear on who she is and in touch with her needs and own baggage. She’s also positive, despite having a life story that really wouldn’t warrant it- the perfect nexus of pragmatic and optimistic. And best yet, she’s got a bit of a bite. And her bite doesn’t come in feigned sass or stereotypical “tough girl” bravado that we often see authors attributing to “strong’ heroines. Her strength comes from her self-respect- the ways in which she consistently, stoically, and steadfastly demands for the relationships she deserves. Not to mention, Gemma opens up a whole new can of worms with her smoke jumping hot brothers and their crew- REALLY hoping that springboards into a whole new series.

Together these two are straight FIRE. Best chemistry in the series- they’re fun, they’re intense, they’re sexy, they’re sweet. There are so many layers to their connection- emotive and sensual, restorative and challenging. I just adored watching them muddle through it all. And I feel like we have some real authentic character development in both as they figure out what they want- how to be true to themselves while being true to the person they love. And that’s when the Barnett crazy really WORKS- when the brother finds a way to let their lady be herself while letting their crazy caveman flag fly. And Teddy has just set the standard- listen up Barnett brothers, he’s set the bar high.

I’m super excited to see what Gemma comes up with for our remaining two brothers. AND hello smoke jumpers, PLEASE GIVE ME THEM ALL!

Wow. This was a ride, for sure.
These characters were pushing and pulling each other throughout the Entire book.

Their relationship wasn’t my favorite, if I’m honest.
Too much of a fight for control between them. Not enough time at the end with them made up to make it all as satisfying as I would want.

The sex and the characters made up for it though.
The sex was steamy and sexy and full of little hints of punishment and a small power exchange. Again. I wish we got a bit more of that since we only really see them totally accept that in the last bit of book. But still. It was hot, and it kept my attention.

And the characters. They were all fun and it was cool to see all the Barnetts again after months between my reading of the last book.
Plus Juni’s brothers. They’re just as protective and full of alpha energy as the Barnett brothers.

I really enjoyed it.
It definitely had me feeling the feels at times and getting hot and bothered at others.

Not my favorite of the series, but I’m glad I read it and I can’t wait to see the last two remaining single brothers find their ‘ones’.

-two new guys (h brothers)
-power exchange wanted by H. H says he’s not a Dom but he does like control in all things.
-steamroller
-lots of trying to get her preg lol
-non v card h but only had 1
-teddy thought he already met and missed out on his one.. he was wrong and when he realizes he feels bad bc he’s treated his h like any other woman.
-we see more of the Barnett lumber company/work day here which was nice change.
-update on other characters which is always nice
-I really liked their argument which was there big drama I guess. It felt real and I loved that he kinda groveled. He was so miserable and you could feel it. I loved that.
-I was surprised by how teddy was… I thought he’d be diff from what we see of him o the recipes books so it surprised me he was so dominate like that but I guess that’s there way lol
-these are always a good palate cleanser for me and I enjoy the OTT alpha vibes.

I’m not even done yet, just preorder, post everywhere and read it upon release because Teddy Barnett deserves that!
Update: this is going to disappoint so many people, but I refuse to spoil this story. Teddy was everything I wish I had and juniper was a feisty delight. I can go on and on about how amazing the read is. The fact that teddy got his results doing something different that beau and even huck gave me heart palpitations in a good way. I would like to live in Gemma’s house so whenever she wrote a new word in her story I’d be the first person to read it. But my author friends say that’s a tad bit crazy 🥹 anyway if Gemma could keep this series going I’ll probably bow at her feet at a reader event. I don’t just want the Barnett men, I want the childrens HEA too. I’ve never wanted a second generation until this series. Sorry not sorry but Gemma is stuck with me for life. I don’t care what she’s writing, I’m reading it. Clothes are optional!😉

I wouldn’t really recommend reading these books consecutively because they kinda start to sound real similar, and because of that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I should have. I’m happy that the next book doesn’t come out for a few months so that I can get some other books in before I read it.

Best book of the series so far!

This book finally gave me what I needed from this series! A heroine that actually makes the hero work for it, a devastated hero that realizes when he’s messed up, and an actual and honest apology from him.

Still something constant in this series that I hate: All the talk about their past f-buddies and waaay too much details about that. I try to get over it but it’s hard.

All in all, my favorite of the series so far and might possibly be one of my favorite reads of the year.

This book was great, especially since I didn't enjoy Alice that much from grangers book 😳🙈 she is a newcomer to their small town and meets teddy. He thinks that he missed his chance at his "one" (all the barnett men have their one special lady that they fall head over heels with). So since he knows hes meant for a life without his one and only, he asks h for a warm hole to put his little baby maker in 😂😂😂😂🙈 she thinks he's a d!ck wad, and when he realizes his feelings, he feels bad.

Soo....the day that my son breaks his arm (7/23!), I finish this book and at the end, she has the same thing happen to her! They even broke their arm the same 😂😂😂😂🤷 I'm reading about the discharge from the hospital and needing to get fixed up and it was just too ironic how much this book copied my real life 😂😂😂

Can't wait for the next two books!

“I’m going to make you crave me so badly you hurt when I’m not near, I’m going to make you as obsessed with me as I am with you.”

This is the 5th book in the Montana Mountain man series and i find it so fitting that this also happens to be my first 5 star rating of the series.

Why? Because, Teddy. Is. Delicious.
I’ve crossed the threshold of wanting book boyfriends to remain as book boyfriends (the insanity can stay within the book realm thanks 😂) to wanting me very own Teddy Barnett.

We’re all aware that sometimes the Barnett brothers can pull some stunts that leave us questioning why exactly we liked it however Teddy is a whole other ball game.

He’s by far my favourite brother so far. He was the growly but sweet caveman we expect from the men in this series whilst also having that extra bit of care and respect for the heroine that really just worked so beautifully for this book.

His self awareness to the cavemen tendencies and how it may potentially conflict with Junis’ need for independence was *chefs kiss*. His devotion to making her happy even if it left him feeling not so hot? Delectable.

I’ll repeat. I want my own Teddy.

Now, for those who read the book for our wonderful book boyfriends… let me introduce Juniper Henderson. She is strong, stubborn, sweet and (my personal favourite) self aware of her own insecurities and issues. She refuses to let past traumas or negativity infect her life and continues to be true to herself. She is a main character a-lot of people can resonate with or take something from, which is fantastic for a romance novel meant for entertainment and not self reflection.

Now even better than the above? JUNI. HAS. BACKBONE. Juniper Henderson embodies the quote “Men are not a necessity but a luxury. If they do not make my life better than it already is, then why would i keep them around” and it makes me so excited because damn right. We are great on our own and even better with the right person.

The chemistry between Teddy and Juni is 🔥🔥.
The relationship development and heat between them can give a girl that rollercoaster stomach feeling and i looooove that you get all the juicy OTT alpha male in a sweet contemporary romance.

Safety:
- Incredibly steamy 🔥
- Grovel
- No cheating
- some OM presence.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
Spice level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶/ 5
Main Characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
Side characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
Darkness scale: Not dark / 5
Does contain OTT Jealous/possessive alpha males but no dark themes.
Angst: Little to no angst, depending on your tolerance.
Ending: HEA (happy ever after)
POV: Dual.

‼️This is the kind of book that I craved when I’m in a slump, just don’t take it “too” seriously and you’ll have fun. They all are alphahole who just bulldoze their women in the name of “love”, saying no is just not an option. So leave your feminist thoughts at the door cause there is no place for that in these stories, and I’m allowed to forget about them every now and then😂

Juni just moved to Montana with her 2 older brothers, the smoke jumper (who will have their own series and I cannot wait to read them). Teddy is instantly attracted to her but doesn’t she is the “ONE” because he thinks he already missed his chance. So what he did? He just straight up asked if he can fuck her with no strings attached and Juni was like “ NO thank you sir”😂Eventually he realise that he fuck up and grovel for her forgiveness. There’s another thing that happened that cause him to grovel another time and I freaking love it. And that just made this my favorite from this series. I just love groveling heroes.

Eeks...

Listen. Have I read 5 of these books? Yes. Do I recommend them to anyone else? Absolutely not.

Deep down, the stories are fine. The two-page authors note in the beginning showed me that Gemma Weir knows what she's doing... she's writing what she wants and she's unapologetic. Readers can get on board or just get out of the way - and that's completely fine.

But there's one scene in this book that definitely bordered on uncomfortable for me. And it takes a lot to get me there. And I think that Weir constantly hides behind her character's insistence that "they're not a dom" in that it allows her to play with dubious consent and no safe words and pushing hard limits, etc. If she admitted she's writing D/s erotica, she'd be held to a standard.

Usually I'd have given this a three but it is honestly a little concerning that with 5,000 people reading your books, you wouldn't be more concerned about typos and punctuation. This is the kind of stuff that one betea reader or a freelance $50 editor could pick up... missing periods, words without spaces between them, saying "fullproof" instead of "foolproof"... and my limit is usually 3 before it affects my review. Gemma Weir had three in the first two chapters.

I hate ranting in Goodreads reviews, so I do it sparingly. But it's frustrating when an author doesn't take her readers seriously. There's enough of us here that she should, but instead she's fallen in this "you'll take what I give you, and I'll put minimum investment into making it good" mentality. It's an absolute shame, because with a little spit shine these books could go from being everyone's secret shame to a shameless guilty pleasure.

Juni moved from California with her two brothers after her mom ditched her for a guy. She meets Bonnie and gets offered a job at the Barnett's company. She's immediately attracted to Teddy but even though the feelings mutual, he's convinced he lost his chance at 'the one'. Thinking he has nothing to offer but sex, he prepositions Juni in the crudest way and her attraction disappears. Once Teddy realizes his colossal mistake, he's determined to win her over and claim her.

I was hesitant to read this one due to some lukewarm reviews. I'm glad I decided to make up my own mind because I really enjoyed the younger Barnett. Teddy was such an ass to Juni and I loved that she made him grovel and work for her. Even after she gave in, she fought him every step of the way. As expected with GW's heroes, Teddy was an OTT caveman who was obsessed with his woman. Juni's hesitation was understandable since she had a lot of baggage from watching her mom being mistreated by men her whole life. I loved Juni's brothers Nero and Buck and would just love if they got their own books in the future. The sibling bond was strong with both Teddy and Juni turning to their brothers for advice. One of the few times a book made me wish I had siblings. Bay and Colt getting judgy over the crazy brothers made me laugh. Famous last words. I look forward to watching them lose their minds in the own books.

POV: Dual, 1st person.
SERIES or STANDALONE: 5th in series, can be read as a standalone.
TROPES: M/F adult, small town, age gap (h is 20, H is 31), work colleagues romance.
SIZE: 286 (last page) Kindle pages.
PLOT: 📚📚📚📚📚/5
ROMANCE: ❤️❤️/5
SPICE/STEAM: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶/5

MY THOUGHTS:
Keeping in mind that this series is about OTT possessive cavemen…this wasn’t the best of the series. This one and the 3rd book weren’t great (both plot were boring & the sex wasn’t the best either…the rest of the books are what they are, gorgeous alpha neanderthal men with good smut…90% smut & 10% plot. This book also had a few typos.

MY STORY SUMMARY:
Juni & her brothers moved to town and it’s not long before they are invited to dinner with the Barnetts. Teddy sees Juni and immediately wants to throw her over his shoulder and take her to his room. But after a terrible proposition where she turns him down he realises his mistake. Now he must make her see what he truly wants.

Oh Teddy!!!! I think out of all the brothers (so far), Teddy is my favorite!!!! And Juniper? I adore her! This will be a very short review because I won't spoil it but when this comes out, just get the book. Yes, Teddy is just as "over the top" as his brothers but at the same time, when he messes up, he backs off and gives her space, even though it hurt! Juniper is like a breath of fresh air! She's not immune to Teddy's charms but she still is her own person. Both make mistakes and both are gonna have to own up to them but oh man, my heart was beating like crazy. Loved this book so much and yeah, looking forward to the next one!

Everything about the Barnett brothers should make my inner feminist revolt but I just can't help but love them.

If you don't like a J/P caveman H this is not the book for you but if you've already had the pleasure of meeting the first four Barnett brothers than you know what you're in for.

I was looking forward to Teddy's story and I was really worried when I started reading that he wasn't what I was expecting but just like Juniper, before I knew it, I was in love with him and his dirty talking ways.

I received an ARC for this review.

That was a sublime read! I’m a proud, card carrying feminist (and yes, I do carry a card in my wallet!) but the way the amazing Gemma can portray these characters shows that the women still have agency. Teddy was a great character who showed so much more self-awareness than his brothers before him. Only two brothers to go—can’t wait to see what comes next! Also grateful to the colleague who put me onto these books in the first place!

Saying bye to feminism

Omg I have been waiting for Teddy’s story since he mentioned he had already found “the one” back in high school. My expectations were shattered because I never expected this!!

I loved that Juniper was not annoying like the past FMCs, their story was cute and I thought it would be smuttier since it was mentioned that Teddy liked “certain things” so I was kind of disappointed that we didn’t get to see that.

Overall I enjoyed it.

I think I found my favorite in the series

So far I've loved every one of the Barnett brothers but Teddy take the cake. Him and Juniper were playing cat and mouse, but to no vain because once he realized who she was to him, all bets were off. She did put up a good fight, and i loved her for it, but with his charm and alpha personality, it was impossible to resist him.

As said, these two are by far my favorite couple in the series!

Where do I begin! I adore Gemma Weir’s Montana Mountain Men series! Huck was always my favorite brother UNTIL…. Teddy! Teddy is so in control and yet he can lose control and go caveman! His relentless pursuit and all consuming need to be in Juni thoughts, space and arms is delicious! Teddy wants it all with Juniper and he’s hell bent on making Juniper his forever one and only! Ladies do not pass up the opportunity to spend some time with Teddy!

I thought I’d really like teddy. I did not actually like teddy. He was such an asshole and misogynistic that it was so bad.
