Kind, insistent and refusing to go away, Granger Barnett is one of the most gorgeous men I’ve ever met.
I imagine every woman in Rockhead Point wants a taste of the mountain man. Except me.
When my RV breaks down, he shows up like the good Samaritan ready to save me, only I’m not looking for a hero. But it turns out no isn’t a word Granger hears that often, especially not from the woman he thinks is meant to be his.
He says it’s fate, I’m confident he’s got the wrong girl
Only apparently the Barnett brothers know how to get their own way. So now I’m staying at his house and he’s talked me into giving him the weekend to convince me I’m his.
But while I’m planning my great escape, I realize he doesn’t just want the weekend, he wants to keep me forever.
Gemma Weir is a half crazed stay at home mom to three kids, one man child and a hell hound. She has lived in the midlands, in the UK her whole life and has wanted to write a book since she was a child. Gemma has a ridiculously dirty mind and loves her book boyfriends to be big, tattooed alpha males. She's a reader first and foremost and she loves her romance to come with a happy ending and lots of sexy sex.
alice is the queen of negativity and granger is the king of PCA. he thought for her, made choices for her, spoke for her, and cared for her. went above and beyond. i didn’t feel their connection & she acted immature with childish behavior, shes stuck with a child mind inside of her an adult body.
granger deserves someone so much better than alice. unfortunately it’s a major turn off for me when heroine have insecurities, shallowness, and shadiness.
Wide disclaimer for this series because I'm posting reviews on books 1-5: these are over the top alphas. Like, minor stalking... kidnapping... not taking "no thank you I'm not interested" for an answer. Major breeding. Messing with birth control. Read it like you read a dark psycho romance - knowing this isn't an endorsement for the behavior in real life.
Go read my review for book 1. This series is wild and not for everyone!!
If you enjoyed Barbarian's Redemption - Ruby Dixon (BEK AND ELLY), try this. Bek and Elly are my favorite couple from IPB and immediately I got Bek/Elly vibes from Granger and Alice.
Granger is another one of the Barnett boys, cursed to fall in love instantly with "THEIR woman". And his woman is Alice, who he meets on the side of the road after her RV breaks down.
Alice is quiet, awkward, timid, nervous, extremely anxious. She thinks she's a terrible person who everyone hates, who poisons people's lives... so she's spent the last 5 years on her own, with no home and no friends and no family. It was kind of heartbreaking?!
Granger and Alice are fully co-dependent on one another in a way that works in a romance. Especially this series, which is contemporary / erotica / breeding / fated mates.
CW: stalking, kidnapping, dubcon, family abandonment/neglect. Tread carefully if you are sensitive about anything domestic violence related - there is none in this book (he worships her) BUT the behaviors that all the brothers exhibit are very similar with abusive, obsessed men who stalk women
Granger finds his woman! Alice has been a drifter and a loner for years and when her RV breaks down and Granger helps her she realizes his help doesn't come with an expiration date.
Granger is completely over-the-top and possessive just like Beau and Huck so make sure you're going into this series with a sense of humor. This one was a lot heavier than the first two because Alice has some major abandonment issues. Usually I like my heroines not as self-deprecating and with a little more steel in their backbone but you can't read this and not feel for her. Granger was exactly what Alice needed and Alice was exactly what Granger wanted. They fit perfectly.
I'm really enjoying this steamy as hell series with men who are alpha to their core and then some. Gimme the next brother!
Happy JULY!!! and we are starting off hot and heavy!!!! I didn't love the last alpha man Gemma did but lord GRANGER!!!! He's my new fave he was ott but wasn't to ott if ya know what I mean.. he was still ill throw you over my shoulder and keep you here but he wasn't to bad lol. Reminder Gemma does her men OVER THE TOP!! so be warn..
I love the relationship with the brothers and couples and how they were so nice to his woman Alice when she had her own problems to deal with like thinking she wasn't good enough for anyone that she was toxic. Living in a RV for 5 years being alone... poor girl..and thinking that Granger wouldn't want a clingy person like her.. poor girl was put through the ringer in her 5 years living In a RV. But glad they kept talking and slowly getting to point A to B. These two were made for one another...
I really didn't like the sister.. I was glad Alice gave her a piece of her mind.. but they slowly making up. I wonder who's next?? I vote TEDDY

Ok so I’m falling in love with the Bennett brothers so I fell down the bunny hole and went to Grangers story. Insta love which is not usually my fave but this one actually works. I mean who hasn’t had everything turn sour and lose a little faith (this one lost all though) and have a sexy mountain man be that overbearing pillar. Did not mind one but!
I'll start this review with this; if you have a problem with men being overbearing, demanding and kinda sorta controlling and you can not separate fiction from the real world TRUST ME when I say this; this is not the book or the series for you (just to quote the author)!!! Now let's get back to my review:
Book 3 and I'm still loving it. But this book is quite different from the first two books. Don't get me wrong we still get the absolute alpha tendencies with the way Granger decides Alice is his IT just by laying his eyes on her. He saw something in her that call to him and he was doing anything and everything to make her see she belong with him and to him.
My heart was all over the place when she starts to explain her upbringing and why she feels she doesn't deserve to be loved and protected. The story is still full of hot scenes and sizzling chemistry but the way he's trying to make her see that she is everything he could ever want took this story to another level and I was helplessly falling for both of them.
With each book i find something new to like and love and I'm so excited to see the rest of the brothers finding women who will knock them of their feet.

Alice has been alone most of her teenage life, her sister pretty much raised her until she was 13 years old but then enlisted in the military, leaving her with their intermittent mother. As soon as she was able to drive she packed up her dad’s old RV and has lived on the road ever since. She travels all over the country doing seasonal work, turning her hand to anything that helps her pay her way and move on to the next town.
Alice is passing through Rockhead Point, Montana, on her way up to the mountains for the ski season when her RV takes it’s last breath. Lucky for her a local stops to help her out, however she is initially a bit terrified of him. Granger Barnett is a big strapping man, a true mountain man but she eventually works out that he is genuine in his offer to simply help her out. After organising her RV to be towed and taking her to see the local sheriff, he insists that she comes back to the family homestead so his family can host her while her RV is fixed.
What Alice doesn’t know is that she has now been claimed. There are seven Barnett brothers and two of them have claimed a woman of their own already. Apparently it’s a family trait, when you meet the one meant for you, you will know instantly. You will do everything you can to keep them in your life, which may include a ring on the finger and a baby in the oven as fast as possible.
'Fuck, this is her. My woman. Mine. All mine. How is this possible? How can it happen just like that? One glance and I knew, unequivocally knew without any element of doubt that I’m going to make this woman mine, that I’m going to marry her, fill her with my baby and keep her forever.’
Alice has a lot of negative self-talk filling her head, she has people walk out of her life so many times that she believes the only reason must be her. Granger may be showing interest in her now but any other guy that has before usually loses interest within a day or so. She soon finds out that she has underestimated Granger Barnett. You see, he wants her to depend on him completely. He wants to take care of her every want and need.
‘I want Alice to be completely mine in this seriously old fashioned, me man, you woman way that I have never considered attractive until today. I want her to need me for everything. I want to be the person she goes to for every need, thought and desire.’
Alice is fiercely independent but is warming to the idea of having some take care of her. Someone she can rely on, someone to help carry the load and someone who makes her feel wanted and desired. And seriously, she had no idea sex could be so freaking amazing. Granger is determined to show Alice that she was meant to meet him that day, she was meant to be his, he will not take no for an answer.
‘Granger doesn’t see my issues as flaws, he embraces them and me. He wants to solve my problems, be my anchor in a storm and I want to let him, not because I need him to look after me, but because my life is full and happy for the first time in years, and it’s all because of him.’
The author quite rightly gives a warning at the beginning of this story so please read this to work out if this is something you would like to read. I went in with an open mind, knowing what to expect and had no issues with the content. Great reading escapism!
In Kept by the Mountain Man we find ourselves back up in the mountains of Rockhead Peak with the Barnett brothers.
Although every bit the OTT jealous/possessive alphahole his brothers are, Granger is a softie. As soon as he spots Alice’s broken-down RV, his caveman instincts kick in and he’s prepared to make his claim – forever.
My heart broke for Alice. Although I usually like my heroines a bit stronger, I could relate to her insecurity.
Homing in on her loneliness, insecurities, and trust issues, Granger wants nothing more than to take care of his woman; everything from bathing her to styling her hair to dressing and feeding her. That Granger was so patient and understanding, while still maintaining the caveman Barnett persona we’ve come to expect was perfect. In fact, his all-consuming love and unabashed obsession is clearly the only weapon that could effectively slay Alice’s demons. Despite the nomadic lifestyle that kept her isolated and forced her independence, when she lets go and cedes control, she finds an unconditional love that she could have never predicted.
No worries, despite the sap, there are still plenty of sizzling hot scenes!
As for the series, I absolutely love the Barnett family commune that is being built and I can’t wait to get to know the rest of the brothers and their women.
It follows the same possessive alpha schtick the first two books do, but Alice seems damaged to me. Damaged enough that it made me feel she was being taken advantage of.
If you are looking for a steamy and fun book that will deliver exactly what it promises… then this book is for you.
I picked up this book looking for a possessive, obsessed and overbearing book boyfriend and I got it. Alice, a loner who believes she is unlikable because she feels she is needy and pathetic, meets Granger, an overbearing possessive caveman when her RV breaks down. As expected, sparks fly and Granger needing to be needed becomes obsessed with her opening up his home, family and heart to her.
Is this a literary masterpiece? No. But who goes to McDonalds expecting a gourmet meal? I cannot fault a book for giving me what I was expecting it and entertaining me along the way.
Granger level of crazy calls to my crazy! Hands down the best Barnett brother in my opinion.. I finally found my Mountain Man❤❤❤❤ #ThoseMagicFingers💦💦 #KeptMeGranger #MyFavoriteBrother #Antidote2Alice #LoveAtFirstSightNextLevel #RVLife #Welcome2Montana #LovingThisSeries
This series gives us Alpha men who are possessive and over the top who Ike still being swoon worthy and lovable. Granger is a gruff and rugged man, unapologetic for his behaviour when he meets April, and focused only on making her his. Cute and romantic story!
It's official- this series is definitely my guilty pleasure. I nom it up like an ice cream Sunday- you'll burn through it fast, but it tastes good going down. These over the top, uber possessive, hella sexy mountain man are oddly mesmerizing- like it's so ridiculous, but it's just do darn fun and entertaining, I keep gobbling them up.
We know the formula by now- another brother, a seemingly normal, gainful employed Montana gentleman that goes call caveman when he crosses paths with his "one." Rampant instalove, light but extra sexy kink, TONS of dirty talking, lots of fluids, and some sweet swoon and family fun to round it out. And, yet again we have my catnip- age gap.
This book did ring a bit different, though, in our heroine. She might be polarizing, but I really liked the different dynamic. She's a bit one note in her melancholy and her insecurities- but for some reason the caveman trope paired with the codependent and hyper insecure heroine made it even more delicious- because even though she resists and clings to her independence like a comfort blanket, unlike our other more feisty and fun heroines, she's desperate to be cared for and taken care of. Not only do we have instalove- we have intense codependent tendencies, uh yum. Granger also seems to be the most patient, sympathetic of our heroes thus far- while still being all in the control zone.
Because we have a bit more of a story and emotional substance, I liked this one best in the series- though I felt the ending shortchanged it, and the epilogue felt a bit unsatisfying. But all in all, yet another mountain man treat. Looking forward to the next one!
Book 1 and 2 were pretty good so I was shocked this one was really not good at all.
There was a few reasons for why it sucked:
The plot of this one was terrible, they literally met, he instantly decided he loved her and needed to marry her. There was no relationship, no friendship, nothing just instant “OMG I LOVE YOU I CLAIM YOU YOURE A COMPLETE STRANGER BUT YOURE MOVING IN WITH MY FAMILY THE DAY WE MEET”
Honestly, I felt pretty culty. He met this stranger on the side of the road then insisted she would be his and manipulated her into being his. Tbh I don’t have any triggers, but for men who are “mountain men” I’d expect them to not be so immediately emotional.
I hated the female MC in this book. The other 2 had great female MCs. This one was a nightmare. A complete disaster. She was okay at the start then right about 35% into the book her entire personality just changed into this insufferable sissy wannabe victim to her entire life.
Also, the male mc calls the female mc honey every 2 words. “Honey, I don’t know, honey, what about bacon, honey?” Like seriously? Way too excessive.
I am going to read book 4 and hope it isn’t a wreck like this one. If it is, I won’t be reading book 5 I’ll give up on the rest of the series.
I loved this one just as much as I loved the first two books. The brothers are amazing, obsessive, protective and just head over heels in love with there women. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I just love this series.
I know how it goes by now. Another overbearing, slightly crazy, possessive Barnett brother finds his woman via a serious case of insta-love, goes batshit at the thought of not having her in his life, and thus commences an intense courtship (of sorts, since it's a foregone conclusion that the women are swept so hard off their feet they have no choice but to concede to whatever he wants). I know this. I love this. I want more of this.
This third book felt a little different than the first two, though. Granger seemed a little more...rational than Beau and Huck. Or, at the very least, he seemed to be more aware that he's got some issues going on. As for Alice, she's fighting some mental health and major abandonment issues, and I think that gives her more depth than Bonnie and Cora and, for me personally, a little bit more relatable. I wouldn't go as far as to let someone brush my teeth for me, but I can see the appeal of having someone to look after you, after you've had to look after yourself for so long.
As always, I loved the family element. The Barnett brothers are the type of family unit that I've always dreamed of and I'd move into that home in a heartbeat. It's definitely one of my favourite things about these books. They're certifiably crazy, but they're loyal, funny, supportive, caring, affectionate, tightknit and good lord please adopt me.
At this point I'm ready to pack it all up and move to Rockhead Point.
I love Gemma Weir. Her Hero’s are the bee’s knee’s! This was co-dependent HEAVEN! Alice is needy and clingy, and needs to be wanted. Granger is possessive, obsessed with Alice, and wants to be needed. This was the perfect combination!
I know people thought Alice too depressed, too negative, but I thought her attitude was legit. Not every woman is the strong, independent, positive, successful woman. There are equally significant women that are struggling with who they are, have trouble being positive, and would be more dependent on their partners, and they deserve their stories too. I understood Alice. I know what it feels like to feel like a big ass inconvenience, and the shit ain’t cool. I loved that ultimately, Alice didn’t change- she’s learning how to love and trust, but she, at her core, still desperately needed someone (Granger) to help her be her best. This wasn’t a story how she became an independent woman, not needing a relationship, no❤️!! Alice needs Granger. Granger ate that shit up- and I loved this story, and him, for it!
Oh yeah, and the smut... *sigh*... this was real good.
I only have one complaint, really... the ending was abrupt af. Almost five stars from me! 4.5 Stars!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I enjoyed the first book. The second book was OK. But this book was absolutely horrible. The heroine in this book was one of the worst characters I have ever read. I don’t know whether to cry or laugh over her. She was the worst Debbie downer and sulking Sally that I have ever read in my life. There were ZERO positive qualities about her. I don’t know how any person can be in the same room as this character for over five minutes without wanting to go jump off a cliff.
It was nothing but negativity. Pity me pity me pity me. I am poison. I’m nothing. Blah blah blah. It was so damn depressing to read this book. The relationship was not believable. It made zero sense why anyone would chase after this woman. She was god awful. My eyes are still bleeding from reading this.
The only reason why I even attempted to finish this book is because this author can somewhat write smut and over the top possessive golden boys. But he probably said the word “honey” every single fucking time he talked to “his woman.”
Insta-everything OTT possessive obsessive yumminess. Really hot and with depth too. Unapologetic Alpha extraordinaire Granger was absolutely relentlessly supportive and caring of insecure, unsure Alice which showed just how big of a heart he has (among other, um, skills and attributes 🥵)
Is love or lust at first sight a real thing? To find out you need to read the Montana Mountain Men series. Kept by the Mountain Man by Gemma Weir is book three in the stand-alone series and it explicitly explains exactly what love at first sight is. I absolutely ADORE the Barnett men in this series. Beau and Huck were rough and rugged, but the quiet Granger really surprised me in Kept by the Mt. Man. Granger is much like his older brothers in the sense that he’s tall, dark, and handsome but once he meets Alice Lowe a different side of him comes out that even he didn’t know was there. Gemma Weir tapped into the insecurities that we all feel at times at placed them on Alice and multiplied them times ten. I hated how mousey Alice could be, especially compared to Bonnie and Cora, but that was what seemed to bring out the “Barnett caveman” in Granger, and of course was the big part of the story. To see the transformation of Alice’s character, to have her open- up and grow was amazing and beautifully written. By the end of the book, I loved Alice as much as I do Bonnie and Cora and think she will make a kick-a** sister to the group. I can not wait for book four in the series, Claimed by the Mountain Man. 5-stars for Kept by the Mountain Man by Gemma Weir.
i really like this entire series. it’s full of the most possessive men who love their women to infinity. it’s the Barnett curse of knowing they found their women and never letting her go no matter how much their women fight them. it was very insta-lovey, very cute and so much steam. Ganger and Alice got married only after a few days of knowing each other but with how much obsessiveness Ganger showed, it felt like they knew each other for a long time! every book in this series is like this and i just think it’s so cute.
Kept by the Mountain Man by Gemma Weir is a mountain man romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Arlene Seberg and Duncan Cole. This is the third book in the Montana Mountain Men series and can be read as a standalone.
The book comes with a warning "This book contains an over the top, jealous, unreasonable, possessive a$$hole. If you consider unapologetic alphaholes unacceptable, or feel their behavior is in some way abusive, then this isn't the book for you."
This is the third book of Gemma's that I have read it won't be my last. The relationship between Granger and Alice is messy but you can't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Claimed by the Mountain Man to be released on audio so I can get Penn and Lulu story.
Duncan and Arelene did an amazing job on the narration. Their voices were perfect for the characters. I can't wait to listen to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mountain man romances, age gap romances, or if you love Alphaholes!
“I want you more than you’ll ever understand, but if I fuck you now, you’re mine. I won’t let you leave me, ever, and I know you’re not ready for that. Your cunt belongs to my fingers and my tongue already, but the moment my dick gets inside of you, I’m keeping you and I need you to fully understand that before I claim you.”
Okay I might be binging these too fast. Don’t get me wrong, they are still good but I lose interest in the same storyline over and over.
What I did love about this book was the story around Alice and her mental health. I related to this so much. It broke my heart and was hard to honestly see my thoughts out down on paper.
It took me a long time growing up to understand that I was a generally unlikable person. I’m not rude, or mean, I just don’t have the type of personality that people like. As a kid I tried to change, I tried to make friends, but the ones who did tolerate me for the short term were soon repulsed by my needy nature and tendency to cling.
I wished she would have gone to therapy honestly but the resolution at the end was put pretty eye opening.
Gemma Weir was a fluke find for me in a super popular Facebook group and whoa. Her books and more specifically her men.. her alphas. Yeah once you meet them you'll totally get that aforementioned whoa. I love my romances over the top in the best ways and the more possessive the alpha the better. Aaaaand Gemma gave me ALL of that in this series, specifically this book and oh my god, pass me fresh panties and all the wine (and my hubby too!) because THIS one might be the best in this series AND the most over the top in all the delicious, alpha, growly kind of ways.
Kept By the Mountain Man is the third book in the Montana Mountain Men series, a series that follows brothers as they navigate love, lust, a need for possession, an instant connection to their women and allllllllllllllll the lengths they'll go to claim them.. own them.. possess them. And next up we have Granger and oh my heart. Granger was EVERYTHING in every single moment in this book and his girl Alice? Wait until you meet her. She'll make your heart ache at times but then we have Granger who swoops in and well.... yeah HE is everything and and you'll just see. I actually adored Alice and the way she was, quirky as it may be.
Look I'm like most women support women and support feminism and rights for women and so forth but for my fiction, sometimes I just need it just like this. Dirty, over to the top, insta in all the yummy ways, and an alpha who will stop at nothing to claim and take it all in the most possessive ways.
Kept By the Mountain Man delivered all of that and then some. It was incredibly sexy, dirty, steamy, intense, and so very unforgettable in every moment.
If you like extreme over the top, possessive, me-caveman-you-woman, take what they want with no questions asked type vibes from your j/p heroes then you HAVE TO READ THIS SERIES! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 Gemma Weir and this series is WHERE 👏 IT'S 👏 AT 👏.
This series is always good for some OTT JP He’s and instalove with a lot of STEAM. This story got a 3 because even though I really loved the depth of the issues the h was dealing with and the total co-dependency relationship of these two, sometimes it felt a bit “Daddyish” without the word daddy thrown around.
Main Man: Granger is like his brothers OTT, JP and controlling AF. His dirty talk is yummy and he has obsessive tendencies toward the h. -He takes total control of her: he likes dressing her, bathing her, washing her hair, blow drying it, brushes her teeth at one point, he even makes her talk as she starts to mentally shut him out and forces through those issues.
Main Chick: she’s got abandonment issues from her childhood and has been living without roots for 5 years. She is really fighting alot of self love issues. She’s clingy, panicky and very ok gaurd. - not a V but not very experienced -lived gypsy life in an RV
Their relationship is totally Codependent. The h needs to have someone take control and basically make all her decisions and make her feel safe, secure and wanted 24/7. The H is so obsessed from first sight and he wants her to not be able to function without him.
-she’s 23, He is 35 (I think) -alots of steam -possessive goodness -he takes care of every need (has the daddy trope feel without all the “yes daddy” stuff) - mild sparky scenes -H is a Steamroller
Urgh. Damaged woman taken advantage of and controlled!
So book one was terrible. 21 year old virgin who was taken by a 43 year old man. Second book was better as Cora is a lot more confident and stands up for herself, until he swapped all her birth control pills to get her pregnant!!! 😡😡😡
So I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. It was terrible! Alice is very damaged by everyone who has ever been in her life. Granger is ten times worse than the other two. He controls her, dresses her, cleans her teeth, and feeds her on his knee. 🤮😱 He even puts her panties on! Doesn’t want her to get too friendly with Bonnie and Cora as he wants her to himself. I’m sorry but it’s abuse!!! He doesn’t even tell her that they are getting married after three days. Just takes her to the courthouse and tells her there that they are getting married. 😡😡😡 He then has a massive go at Cora as she’s quite rightly worried about Alice. He wants to cut her implant out but doesn’t know where it is, so she can get pregnant. I just can’t believe what I was reading!!!
I’m still seriously in shock. I don’t think this was a woman with any choices in life. Awful.
I really enjoyed this read. I think we’re all really used to heroines that are insecure but I felt like Alice’s ran deep and we’re unique. I also loved how Granger handled it. I thought his controlling was pretty hot.
The reason I didn’t give it five stars was because 1) I really really disliked one of his interactions with his sister-in-law, Cora. It showed me another side of him and I didn’t like it. I think it was a misstep by the author. 2) I thought it really dragged there in the middle.
