Montana Mountain Men #7

Loving the Mountain Man

Rate this book
Gorgeous, sweet and far too flirtatious, Cody Barnett is absolutely adorable. The perfect guy for some lucky girl, just not me.

I’m only in Rockhead Point to get to know my sister. I have a boyfriend, a job and a life, hours away from this tiny mountain town.

Only the more time I spend with the Barnetts; the more I see that their world is full of the type of love I thought only existed in films; and seeing it is making me wonder if my happy ever after, is really as happy as I thought it is.

When betrayal leaves me heartbroken and questioning everything, Cody stays at my side, ready to be my rock, my shoulder to cry on and so much more. He’s determined to offer me all the colors in the rainbow, but I’m not looking for a fling, and that’s all that we can be.

So, I run. Away from my sister, away from her new family and away from the man who says I’m his.

But it doesn’t matter how fast I run, because fate will still catch me and right now it’s knocking on my door. It turns out Cody isn’t prepared to give me up, and no matter how hard I fight him, I’m not sure I can escape the love of a mountain man.

That ending sort of sucked honestly.
I mean, I liked the book.
The sex was hot as hell.
The chemistry between the characters super fiery.
I loved seeing the rest of the Barnetts again.
I loved Suede and Johnny.
But the plot was sort of meh. And the relationship felt about the same, since it basically Was the plot.

I don’t know.
I just didn’t feel like they ever truly connected in a deep, meaningful way. Not in any sort of capacity that I was waiting and hoping for at least.
They had about 4 days together, half of which Betty was still in a relationship for.
Then they were apart. (No spoilers, it’s in the blurb. I’m trying not to be specific so it doesn’t give anything away.)
Then they’re just back together..?
And basically nothing gets resolved.
It’s like.
Run. Cry. ‘I know you’re scared’. ‘I love you’. The end.

I think I just would’ve liked maybe one or two chapters where they fully worked everything out and had a full on heart to heart.
What we got was just not enough for me.

I still liked it.
I’ll still be looking forward to Henrietta and Oz’s book(😏 Yeah. I totally caught that Gemma. You think you’re all slick and shit. I see you.😂)

I just wish the ending was a bit more flushed out, is all.

4.5 stars!

Loving the Mountain Man is the last book in the Montana Mountain Men series and I am SOO sad to see it come to an end. Cody (admittedly is one of my favorite brothers) finally gets his story with his one.

When Missy's lost sister shows up, Cody immediately realizes the tattooed beauty is his. Betty is everything he never knew he needed and is now his sole focus. Claiming her is going to be difficult though because not only does she have a boyfriend but she has erected walls of steel around her heart. Cody is determined to win Betty and when Betty's douchebag boyfriend Thad is out of the picture (not Cody's fault) he puts his charm on full speed and Betty is helpless to deny the attraction they share. But Betty refuses to acknowledge what Cody could mean to her and what it means to belong to a Barnett.

"You’re mine, Betty Barnett, and I don’t mean that in a generic male way. I mean it in the most insanely over-the-top, alpha male, caveman, possessive, psychopath way. You are mine. You belong to me, and I’m never going to let you go. If you run, I’ll chase you. If you fight me, I’ll subdue you. If you try to give yourself to someone else, I’ll fucking kill them.”

Can Cody win Betty's heart and make her see they're meant to be together? Will Betty take a chance and stop running?

Betty frustrated me in many ways but I also found her endearing at the same time. Her inner turmoil was heartbreaking and also heartwarming because despite her mistakes, she never truly set out to hurt anyone including herself. I didn't like how she handled being scared of the future with Cody but I understood her reasoning and logic. She felt naive but not in annoying way and I loved that she always tried to do the right thing. I do think she did Cody wrong in some ways and should have groveled a little more but I was happy to see that she KNEW and ACKNOWLEDGED when she was wrong in the end.

"He came into my life at the strangest time and showed me what the kind of love I never really thought existed in real life was like. I love his sweetness, his kinkiness, his unrelenting pursuit of me, and the way he makes me feel like I’m the only person in the room with him. Oh, God, I am in love with him. I’m not falling… I’m not halfway there. I love him."

Cody...Cody, Cody, Cody...you beautiful soul. This mountain man was OTT, possessive, obsessive, swoony, sweet, dominant, dirty, and a little bit of an alphahole. ALL the things I love in my book boyfriends. You know that line that in real life men should never cross? Yeah, these Barnett brothers cross it and then add several miles. So if this isn't your cuppa, don't pick this book up and then be scandalized. When I read these wonderfully dirty stories, my feminism completely disappears and I am totally ok with that.

description

It was so fun catching up with the other Barnett brothers and their significant others and I enjoyed that the plot in here was relationship focused. The angst kept me glued to the pages and the kinky steam had me fanning myself. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and this series and I hope to see Gemma write more in this world with these men that say "mine" and drag their women to their caves.

Aaaaaaaaand scene.
That's a wrap on the Montana Mountain Men series.
I feel like this series was essentially my introduction into the world of possessive, alpha male, mountain men and considering I finished all 7 books, rated them all pretty highly and now find myself seeking out other books of the same vibe, I'd say they did pretty well.
Would I tolerate a man kidnapping me, tampering with my contraception, telling me what I can and can't do and generally being controlling and crazy? Absolutely, 100% not. BUT, this is FICTION ladies and gents, and in my fiction, that shit is my jam.
Was this book perfect? No.
Was this series perfect? No.
But, honestly, I don't care. I enjoyed it for exactly what it was regardless.
(Also, Missy was closer to my physical description and age than any of the other heroines in this series, so that was an added bonus).

Ok so I’m sad that my world with the Barnett brothers is done- and I thought I fell harder for Cody but OMG he’s the one that went the craziest! To be fair he went through the most refusal but wow that went down a very dark hole, to where I thought wow so Beau is actually pretty tame. Still that insane, just plain insane dominance still pretty s8xy.

damn. this was really cody’s fall from grace.

this man was pure EVIL in this book. i’m totally fine with OTT dudes but he was literally blackmailing, manipulating, and gaslighting her saying that she could’ve said no if she wanted to but she LITERALLY couldn’t. that behavior only flys with me in a dark romance😬

cody is worse than huck and that’s actually really depressing…it’s lowkey impressive how the author can make cody go from this great guy to an absolute psychopath in the span of a single book.

FINAL BROTHER RANKING:
1. Beau
2. Teddy (where was he during this book?😭)
3. Granger
4. Bay
5. Penn

10000. Huck
10001. Cody (this really hurts…)

Omg! Not just that this is the last book for the Barnett but damn Cody got it bad!!!! From the moment he saw her she was his ONE. Plotting to get rid of her boyfriend top priority. Every moment he wanted to touch her feel her. He had a hurdle to jump and needs a running start. But that attraction is mutual and so wrong for Betty. But when she thinks about her and Thad’s relationship it’s just all wrong. Yes she loves him but is she in love with him. How much of a battle will Cody need to fight. Will the new sisters be pulled against each other after barely meeting because of this attraction Cody has with Betty being his ONE.How will these two come out at the end. So many what ifs because never in all other 6 books was the ONE with someone. Challenge accepted from Cody. She will be his. So grab your copy and let’s find out if she can withstand the charms or Cody and become a Barnett too. Happy reading……

I am absolutely addicted to Gemma’s Mountain Men Series. I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book. Cody & Betty did not let me down.. wow did they heat up the pages. I love the OTT/JP men. I want to say this was my favourite of the series but idk if I can, because I seriously LOVED them all. I have a special love for Betty tho. She’s fire and spice, I adore her funky style and personality. Cody and his filthy mouth kept me glued to my book until the very end. I absolutely recommend this book, and if you haven’t read the others…. Do yourself a favour and start at book 1. I would suggest booking a week of holidays because you won’t want to stop once you start. Happy Reading 😃

I am ashamed I keep reading these…

Guilty pleasure doesn’t even describe these books. And honestly, I’m embarrassed I keep reading them.

What kind of author has to write a three page warning in the front of her book explaining that in a fictional world she can write whatever she wants and because it isn’t real, it means nothing?

Then you read the book, and it’s the same stuff. He’s gaslighting her. He’s pushing her into decisions that are too soon. He’s mean and toxic. And the author just throws in a “it’s kind of turning me on” to make you believe the female MC likes it.

But who am I to complain when I’ve read freaking SEVEN of these. It’s embarrassing.

This has to be the most addictive series that I’ve ever read! The Barnett men are so ott but I loved every single one. Cody was no exception. I got a bit frustrated with Betty for the way she hurt Cody but when Cody turned caveman and put her in her place I couldn’t eat it up fast enough! I am obsessed with the Barnett family and the whole town of Rockhead Point. I can’t wait to see what Gemma brings to this small town next. I can’t get enough of her ott alpha men!

This is the seventh and final book in this series. While they can be read as standalones they are so much better read in order. This is finally Cody’s book. Betty is Missy’s sister. One look is all Cody needs to know that Betty is meant to be his. Now he knows why he had such a connection to Missy. But there is a catch. Betty has a boyfriend. Betty feels a pull to Cody but she has mixed feelings about it. She feels like part of the family after not long with the Barnetts. But she has a boyfriend or at least she did. Nothing can happen with Cody. How would it affect her relationship with her sister if it didn’t work out. She has a crazy phone call with her boyfriend and now they are broken up. Cody isn’t going to waste the chance. Now Betty is more confused than ever. Her whole life has been turned upside down and she must decide what to do. Cody can’t believe what is happening. Things were supposed to be so easy. Find his one and make her realize they were meant for each other then live happily ever after. This book was a crazy ride. Cody is so lovable and level headed but not when it comes to Betty. Betty is a wonderful girl. Things haven’t always been easy for her. She can’t believe how much Missy and her family feel like her true family. I am so sad that this is the last book. But, maybe will get to visit with more characters from the world. After all the Barnetts aren’t the only ones on the mountain. I love these guys so much. I was so excited to finally read Cody’s book. I love Cody and of course Betty is perfect for him. Fantastic job Gemma.

Gah, I just love, love, love this series. And Loving the Mountain Man is the perfect addition to the Barnett Brothers stories.

Cody Barnett is the final brother left single. Still awaiting his fate - that moment where he meets ‘The One’, and knows instantly that’s she’s his destiny. Unexpectedly, Cody’s ‘One’, is his best friend’s and sister-in-law’s estranged half-sister, Betty. Confident, sassy, tattooed, and so NOT single, Betty. Challenge accepted - there’s no turning back, Cody is intent on making Betty his, whatever the cost.

It feels kinda bittersweet to be finishing the last instalment in this utterly beguiling series - however, I know I’ll keep these stories with me forever. Long live the Barnett Brothers and their crazy, juiced-up Alphaness. 🙌🏻

The last Bennett brother book and this one was delicious and a little more drama, lol.

Cody finally found his one his woman Betty when she meets her long lost sister Missy but there's a problem. Betty is taken she has a boyfriend which kinda throws a wrench in Cody's plans but it doesn't stop him from getting close to her, he shows her how it is to be taken care of by a Bennett just not crossing any lines until Betty's boyfriend does a unthinkable and all bets are off.

As for Betty I liked her she gave in quickly to Cody but she also fought and pushed away because she was just broken up, and she didn't think she was Cody's one since she has tattoos, thick and nothing like the other wives. Also, she didn't think her new sister would choose her if things went south with Cody, so she ran away and maybe up a lie that she took back the boyfriend so Cody wouldn't come for her.
More drama and some assholeish moments Cody pulled to make her his. Did I agree with how he was talking to her? No, but I love he was faithful, and even if he was angry, he still cared for her.

The last Barnett brother has fallen!!! After the last book I couldn’t wait for Cody’s story and set a reminder for release day (today yay!)…and neglected my family and life in general, planted myself on the couch and dove in! Sighhh I just love these psycho OTT alpha sexy as sin brothers. They are such cavemen and in real life I would run as fast as I could from them…but in Romancelandia it totally works for me. Cody is just as delicious as his brothers and recognizes his ‘one’ as soon as he sees her and he becomes OBSESSED. Betty still has a boyfriend though, so a delicious chase ensues. I’m not exaggerating when I say I devoured this book. These two were so hot together, phew! And I loved seeing all the other brothers and their wives again. The spice is so so so good in these books (with these two being a bit kinkier, but nothing too out there)!! OTT and feel good at the same time, I will be re-reading this entire series over and over again…and a teaser at the end hints at even more coming from Rockhead Point?? I’m SO here for it! I’ll be impatiently waiting for more news….LURVED it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Safety
- No real OW drama (apart from some women trying to flirt with Cody at the end of the book, but he sort of ignores them).
- OM drama (h has a boyfriend when the MC’s meet)
- Both celibate during separation
- No cheating between MC’s or by MC (h’s ex cheats on her)

Thank you Gemma for this ARC!! I have love each Barnett brother in their own possessive alpha male way and Cody is no different. It was bitter sweet going into to this knowing it was going to be the last brother and I wanted to savor it.

I freaking love Betty!!! She’s curvy, edgy and very independent. She also has baggage from her past and present. Just like the other women the Barnett brothers find, Betty makes Cody put effort into convincing her she’s is his mate. They complement each other but are also opposite and it just works for them.

If I had to pick a brother it would be Cody!! It’s still a hard decision but he would be it. Personally I really relayed to Betty in this book in so many ways. The plot and spice were both amazing in this book. If you are in to over the top alpha males this is a book and series for you but make sure you start with book 1❤️ This not only has spice and plot but kink too. Enjoy lovelies💋

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this release for awhile, so was thrilled to be have the opportunity to read an ARC copy. This review is my completely my own.

Absolutely LOVE these boys and I gotta say, Cody is one of my favs! Betty isn’t my favourite but, she and Cody together work. She’s exactly what Cody needs and together they’re magic. 💗

Cody is a panty melting, swoon worthy alpha and Betty is … a brat. Lol. He’s about as over the top as you can get, and is protective and loves his woman from the first instant. He has his hands full with Betty, but never once doubts their relationship, even when he could’ve.
Amazing read and I’m looking forward to see who else in Rockhead Point gets a book moving forward and checking in on all the other awesome couples.

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

Considering how much I enjoyed the last two books this was kind of a let down. It was especially sad because I really loved Cody but some of the things he did, said, or internally monologued just didn’t work for me. Also, moving forward can this author just stop getting into how much smex the heroes used to have and going into detail about it and their conquests? Total turn off.

Cody made his brothers seem tame at times, but the fantasy of being worshipped by a sexy lumberjack-esque man is appealing! The warning at the front of the book says it all and this is pure escapism. It was wonderful to escape with the Barnett's once again and now I can't wait for the next stories to come out of this town!

All of the stories in this series are all insta-love and lust, which not my favorite at all usually, yet somehow it works here. Maybe because they are all unhinged, bonkers, over the top that I can take it as it is, don't take it seriously and they entertain. Well, shoot me, I want to read the smoke jumper guys after this.

Oh my god I love the mountain men. I want my own one.
Gemma creates a world where the characters are real. The sex is spicy but adds the storyline.
I wanted to give Betty a shake and tell her to sort herself out and get it together. It was a fantastic conclusion to the series. I will revisit the Barnett Brothers again.

It was such a bitter sweet day for me. I'm in love with the Barnett brothers and will miss them dearly. I anticipated every one of the Mountain Man books for months before they were released. I was fortunate enough to receive an arc copy of Codys book and consumed it in one day. Gemma Weir has tapped into my brain of what a true alpha male should be. Cody is sexy, sweet, kinky, loving, attentive, and possibly my favorite Barnett brother. He knew exactly what his Brat needed and when she needed it. I love Cody and I'm jealous of Betty. I understand where she was coming from, but honey if I was in her shoes.... Sheeewww But on second thought, if misbehaving would get my ass spanked red like Cody dished out, I'd probably be a brat all the time. ♡ This book was perfection. I wouldn't change a thing about it. I'm planning on going back and reading them all again. Their books are my go-to when I'm in a book slump. All I can say is I'm so thankful I found this writer and I wish there were 20 Barnett brothers to swoon over. Thank you Gemma Weir for building this world for us and I look forward to reading about your other alpha males.

Oh, these Barnett boys! So, laser focused on their woman and so hot it'll make you sweat. Cody is no exception. He's just as OTT as his brothers. And Cody is adorable about it.
I of course loved this book, but it wasn't quite as spicy as the others and the couple spent a great deal more time apart. This is because, for the very first, a Barnett had to deal with a boyfriend. And it was hilarious and intense.
I loved all the foreshadowing of the possible new books with the smoke jumpers! I can't wait to start reading more about those guys! Also, I really loved how Betty was shown just how beautiful the Barnett legacy is. I was so happy to see how the rest of the Barnetts were doing and how the family is growing.
It was a great end to the Barnett series!

Drop your feminism at the door, or skip this one if you can’t.

If you leave a crap review solely because you chose not to heed the very clear warnings, you are the worst kind of trash. I said what I said.

There are very clear warnings about the fact that these Barnett brothers are OTT Neanderthals. They are every red flag known to woman, and even some new ones you probably didn’t consider. This series is rife with obsession at first sight, some stalking, multiple kidnappings and forced proximity, some birth control tampering, lots of crude references to female anatomy and “breeding” their woman, total Neanderthal behavior, and Cody adds in a marriage forced by blackmail. Would these things ever be hot in the real world? Definitely not. Restraining orders would be in effect. But this isn’t the real world. This is the fantasy land where ridiculous mountain men fall instantly upon seeing their “one” and are so out of their minds that they don’t even care how ludicrous they are behaving. They’re also the closest family you ever saw, support each other unconditionally, and will move mountains to make sure their loved ones are safe and taken care of.

Cody faces a challenge his brothers did not: when he meets Betty, she already has a long-term boyfriend. His challenges are not few, but those Barnett boys don’t go down without a fight! I loved seeing all the other couples and their growing broods of children. While we have seen the last brother fall for his woman, we still have all those single fire jumpers out there, so I’m crossing all my parts and hoping we get some more of this ridiculous and delicious world.

4 stars - all the brothers are finally taken ahhh 33
i was super excited for this couple since reading the last book bc i already loved cody a lot and was excited to read his story. but imo, i felt like he wasn’t assssss likeable in this book. not that i didn’t love him, but weirdly, i liked him more in his bff role, last book.

the heroine was super cool, and i was SO happy she was plus sized/curvy. i loved how she was tatted and had a back bone, and also how kind she was when meeting her sister. i did find myself disliking her a bit though, when she self sabotaged and left cody - letting everyone believe she was with her scum ex. when cody found out it was all a lie, my heart genuinely broke for him and i felt like crying my little heart out omg.
regarding thad though, i do wish we got a scene of one/all of the brothers defending the heroine by beating up or threatening the ex - like we saw the brothers act against the creepy cousin. i kinda just wish we saw some justice for my girl <3

the steamy scenes in this were really freaking good!! these two had such good sexual chemistry, and were perfect for each other. i also loved the somno at the end of the book (i wish there was more ah)

all in all, i really loved this book and read it in 2 hours. i’m so excited next series, but i still wish there was an epilogue or a scene where all the bennett family were together - seeing as this was the last bennett brothers book. without this, it kind of felt unfinished :/

Ok for those of us who love those over the top alphaholes Gemma has done it again! We’ve all been waiting for Cody and she delivered. Cody has been waiting for his one like his brothers all have and she comes in with a story nothing like his brothers! Their relationships didn’t have roadblocks in the form of a boyfriend! Betty came to meet her sister and get to know her but she got more than she bargained for when she was introduced to her sisters new family, the Barnett Clan! Betty had never seen anything like it and her relationship didn’t seem to be anything like theirs and that was ok, right? Cody swoops into help Betty navigate all of the overwhelming feelings and experiences that she is having. Cody knows she is his one but refuses to be underhanded and try to get her to be disloyal or wrong to her boyfriend so he has to be all that she needs until she sees he is what she needs but will she? Will the Barnett love at first sight curse end with him? Will Cody get his HEA? Jump into the last Barnett Mountain Man book and see it to the end you won’t regret it IF you can handle over the top alphaholes!

My Rating: 2.75 / 5 🌟

Everyone has that one trashy series that they can’t help but love to read. A guilty pleasure, one would say. And for me, that series is this one, the Montana Mountain Men.

This series truly is the only series that managed to get some so hooked to the point that I read ALL 7 BOOKS. Considering my commitment issues with book series, this is a huge deal. And of course I was very excited to read this one, the final book for the last Barnett brother standing. But unfortunately, I can’t help but be slightly disappointed.

The appeal of the series has always been “cray cray but hot smut”, at least it was for me. The Barnett brothers are irrational alpha-male assholes, but that has always been the entire point of this series. THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO BE PROBLEMATIC.

But in the last few books of this series, the author decides to forgo that aspect that let the men make “sensible decisions” instead, and that pretty much takes away my interest with the last few books and this one was no different.

This book was SO MESSY. I mean the other books are also messy but this one was just messier. Not only does it not have a well-paced storyline, it also forgoes the whole caveman aspect of Cody, which in turns removed the essence of the entire series. He did in the end have his caveman moments, but at that point, it was just too little too late.

And that’s where my rating for this particular book comes from. It’s the fact that I was disappointed that this book was missing the essence of what made the Montana Mountain Men series what it was. I thought about rating it lower and I might change it in the future but I’m giving it a 2.75 for now.

I love me some Montana Mountain Men 😍

This is the 7th and final book in Gemma Weirs Montana Mountain Men series. A world where the hot AF Barnett Brothers reside, who are OTT alphaholes with so many red flags, you could make the entire population of Montana a quilt. But who doesn't like their fictional men with a dash (truckload) of toxicity?? Would I excuse any of their behaviour in real life? F**k no.. but this is fiction, and I most certainly can enjoy it that way!

I knew at the end of book 6 that it was going to be Betty that Cody would be hit by, and I could barely wait for book 7. I loved their story and how their lives intwined. I enjoyed the push and pull and how Betty stood her ground (most of the time). The spice was 🥵🥵 and I could read a whole book of them exploring the rainbow 😉

If you're looking for mountain men who are OTT, alphaholes at the highest level, who will throw you over their shoulder, take you home, and eff the nonsense out of you, but also have kind hearts, big family values, and will k!ll and d!e for you.. then look no further than the Barnett Brothers. Starting with Beau and Bonnie's story in Property of the Mountain Man.
