Just a Little Bad

Rate this book
Because sometimes you need a little reassurance on your happy ending.

When Eli found himself jobless and homeless a few months ago, his boyfriend Quinn invited Eli to move in. Quinn said he loved Eli and wanted him there, but when problems from Eli’s homeless days show up in the form of extra house guests, Eli starts to worry. Maybe Quinn was only motivated by pity. Because pity comes with an expiration date Eli is hoping their relationship doesn't.

As Eli pushes for security, Quinn has to find a way to make it very clear that he is determined to be everything Eli needs.

K.A. Mitchell discovered the magic of writing at an early age when she learned that a carefully crayoned note of apology sent to the kitchen in a toy truck would earn her a reprieve from banishment to her room. Her career as a spin-control artist was cut short when her family moved to a two-story house, and her trucks would not roll safely down the stairs. Around the same time, she decided that Chip and Ken made a much cuter couple than Ken and Barbie and was perplexed when invitations to play Barbie dropped off. She never stopped making stuff up, though, and was surprised to find out that people would pay her to do it. Although the men in her stories usually carry more emotional baggage than even LAX can lose in a year, she guarantees they always find their sexy way to a happy ending.

KA Mitchell writes unlikable characters. People easy to hate. People who annoy the crap out of you. But, surprisingly, people you find yourself so deeply entrenched with, so totally in love with, you're left not caring about anything else than being able to get more of their stories. I don't know how she does it. It just is the way it is.

This is Eli.

Eli is a pain in the ass. He's stubborn and a brat. He refuses to be seen as weak and he'll do anything to take the power back. He's everything I hate. I love Eli.

Eli plays small to large roles in the Baltimore series, his main love story being told in Bad Boyfriend (Bad in Baltimore #2). He falls for an older man, Quinn, and introduce some daddy kink and a match totally made anywhere else than Heaven. It's been my favorite of the series to date and Eli & Quinn...well, I'm fiercely protective of them.

Just a little bad is a short story that takes place awhile after their book and highlights where Eli and Quinn are now. They live together, they're having wild sex, and they're in love. It was such a treat to get to read more about these two. True, the "daddy" stuff was a little much...(or maybe it's just cause it's not really my thing)...but the emotions, uncertainty, the insecurity, and eventually the proclamations and demonstrations of love made me HAPPY!

Honestly though...my favorite part of this short? It's the letter from KA Mitchell in the beginning to her fans. It's clear SHE loves Eli too...that Eli has embraced her heart as well. And I love seeing that...

Eli rocks.

Quinn rocks.

But KA Mitchell? She's the bees knees and I heart her fiercely.

Thank you for this!

I could never pass up a K.A. Mitchell book, and I definitely couldn’t resist a short story involving Eli Wright and Quinn Maloney. I simply adore Eli. Out of all of the Bad in Baltimore books, Eli’s story was my absolute favorite, and Eli himself is one of my all-time favorite MM characters. The cover on this one is a little lame, didn’t resemble Eli at all, but I simply ignored it.

This novella takes place sometime in the middle of the last book and during the time that Zeb and Silver were staying with Eli and Quinn. Eli was being a little brat and feeling a little vulnerable about his position in Quinn’s life. Eli, being Eli, simply acts up to get what he wants, and in this case, he wants, and needs, a heavy hand on his ass…and he gets it in the most wonderful way possible.

It’s sexy and snarky as we watch Quinn and Eli take the next progressive step in their relationship. A step that was necessary for Eli to feel secure and not just a charity case. You hurt for Eli because you know of his street-life past, you understand and accept his fears because he’s been homeless and he’s done some things he’s not proud of, but Quinn is the “daddy” to Eli’s “boy” and that works for them. It worked for me too, and I am not even a daddy/boy fan.

So I am very happy with this short story. A nice little addition to the Bad in Baltimore series, and it excites me to see where this story is heading to next. The fact that K.A. Mitchell got a little kinky here, and then added extreme kinky warnings in the next book leads me to believe that things are about to get very interesting…and I can’t wait.

Since Eli has been my favorite character of the series, so far, I was thrilled when the author wrote this short focusing on his life with Quinn. I love all the 'Bad in Baltimore' boys, but Eli has always held a special little spot for me. Perhaps it's all he's endured. Or, more likely it's his mouthy, sarcastic, bratty self that does it for me. Yeah, that's it.

'Just a Little Bad' picks up right after the events out on Jamie's boat in 'Bad Influence', and have Eli, Quinn, Silver, and Zeb returning to Quinn and Eli's place. Eli is a little miffed that Quinn didn't take Silver up on his offer for Silver and Zeb to stay at Zeb's house. Eli is really missing his intense Daddy-boy games that he and Quinn get up to. Never fear, Eli, Quinn knows how to take care of you and give you what you need. In more ways than one. *grins* When Eli expresses his fears that Quinn only took him in because he feels sorry for him, well, Quinn puts the big kibosh on that way of thinking in a hurry. And in a really, really, really hot way.

What a wonderful short filler to get me through the next few months until the next release day. I love these little jumps back into favorite characters’ lives. Thank you, KAM. This should hold me until the next book.

When this short story appeared on my author nofitication list at ARE, I was surprised and extremely happy! Eli and Quinn are my favourite m/m couple and I have read Bad Boyfriend more times than I can count. It was wonderful to visit them again and I really hope Mitchell writes even more of their story later. A question I have always wanted the answer to is: did Peter tell the truth when he mocked Eli for not being able to fuck Quinn the way Quinn would sometimes want? Was it just Peter trying to bait Eli or will this actually become an issue in the future?

Thank you K A Mitchell for this little present.

Eli is so delightful. I adore this series.

Just A Little Bad gives us a bit more insight as to Eli's state of mind during Bad Influence. He's a little insecure as to his real place with Quinn. I think Quinn does a fine fine job of reassuring him.

I enjoyed Eli and Quinn the most among the couples I read so far. So I enjoyed this one quite a bit as well.

They were getting to know each other better and better and understand how they were important to one another.

Like Aaron and Joey (from the Florida series), Quinn and Eli are my favorites in the Bad series... I'll keep coming back just for them.

I like Eli and Quinn. It was cute to show us a different view of a scene from "Bad Influence". Well, two scenes. The focus of this novella was to confirm to Eli (because the reader already knew) that Quinn loved him and did not think of Eli as just a stray to be picked up off the streets and helped.

It's always fun to read about this pair. They are well suited together. Eli is energetic and in your face as Quinn is calm and collected. But you can feel the passion and love they have for each other and it brings a smile to my face.

A lovely little look at the couple in the last book I read 'Bad Boyfriend, where we get to see how settled Quinn and Eli have become in their age gap romance. And they have company temporarily, Silver, a friend Eli made when he lived on the streets, and his boyfriend Zeb, and then young Marco, another young one thrown out by his parents. Now, Silver and Zeb have their own story which came after Bad Boyfriend, but I couldn't find it at first, so I'm reading a little out of order, which you might do too, but it really doesn't impede the storyline, it's just a sweet short as they all enjoy the Pride Parade.
P.S. I have located a copy of the story that goes in between these two I've read, unfortunately it's another pocket sized paperback but the good news is that, besides Silver and Eli, it also has Quinn in it, so it's more involved that I thought, sooo looking forward to reading it. This author seems to have gone quiet for a while and that is a shame, great stuff!!

Eli and Quinn are easily my favourite couple in this series and while I did enjoy this extra, I could have just as easily done without it as it didn't stand up to the level of their book and didn't add enough to their story. I think I would have preferred if it was just set at some vague point in the timeline, as opposed to during a specific point in time during Silver's story.

Such a hot couple

Ah Eli, that little minx! He's totally what Quinn deserves after 10 years of unhappiness with Peter the douche. They just fit together despite their age difference and backgrounds.

Scorching hot

Of the bad boys in Baltimore, Eli and Quinn will always be my favorite duo. They are meant to be together and this little story was a joy to read.

Biased review is biased.

I love Eli Wright. I love him like Rachel Berry loves gold stars and solos. Like Neal Caffrey loves a Sy Devore suit. Like Zack Morris loved Kelly Kapowski. Like Whitley loved Dwayne. What I'm saying is that I love Eli like this is the 80's and my baby is a John Hughes movie, ya heard me?

Bad Boyfriend was actually the first book I read in the Bad in Baltimore series and even though I've read and (for the most part) enjoyed all the books, Eli and Quinn were far and away my favorite couple. There's just something about the two of them that hits me square in the feels like

 photo feels2_zps8966baec.gif

I love them and everything they choose to be and so even if this book had been about them sitting at home arguing about whether Bounty really is the quicker picker upper I would have read it because Eli and Quinn.

This book however, is not about household goods, it's about Quinn and Eli finally addressing the leather clad elephant in the room known as Eli's Insecurities and how Eli finally realizes that he can take a leap of faith and trust that Quinn that will catch him not b/c he HAS to, but b/c he WANTS to.

This book pretty much delivered everything that I wanted it to. Hot, sweet, kinky, funny and just plain good. I liked almost everything about it.

Almost.

Because, look real talk:

I can't stand Marco.

I tried to like him, lawd knows I tried but his extra thristy behind gets on the very last nerve I have and his mere presence in the book was legit reason enough for me to shave off a star. I hate him like I hated that George Washington Colonial lacefront special Nene Leakes was last year. You know this one right here that on a scale of Naomi Campbell's edges to that wig they made Jada wear in the Nutty Professor 2 came in at a solid 8.5. I mean, just ALL struggle?

 photo nenegeorgewashingtonwig-horz_zps4b6455b4.jpg

Yeah, Marco is like that wig, all what in the hell and why lawd why. I can't with him. I know sooner or later he's going to get a book and that will be a sad, dark day in the series for me b/c it's the first book I'll have to skip :(

But anywhoo, if you love Eli like I love Eli and you love Eli and Quinn like I love Eli and Quinn then you'll absolutely love this book.

The author notes “This short story is a companion piece to Bad Influence…It covers what was going on in Eli and Quinn’s relationship between Chapters 18-21, which includes some hot, kinky sex. Eli and Silver each remember their conversation at the end of Chapter 18 differently, as we all often do.”

Just a Little Bad is definitely NOT a stand-alone book and, in my humble opinion, should probably be read right on the heels of Bad Influence for it to work.

I find this a hot and sweet read. Eli, despite all his cocky confidence, needs the reassurance that only Quinn can offer, that yes Quinn really does love him and wants him in his life. Quinn shows Eli in words, acts, and deeds, and whoo! Spicy!

At only fifty pages, this is a quick and satisfying read and a nice way to check in with Quinn and Eli.

Okay, no more Eli. Seriously. That's enough.

Fuck, it's a good thing the sex was smoking hot or else I'd have been too irritated to deal with these two. I know, I know...most people just lurve Eli and everything he touches is perfect but OMFG no. I just...arrrrgh. Something about him rubs me wrong now and I think maybe it's the whole Suzie Homemaker aspect? Like, cut off his nads and he's practically a housewife, fussing and fretting and interfering and...*sigh* I don't know.

Please, just give me another in the series with as little Eli as possible. And maybe the one after that to wipe the bad taste out of my mouth...

(But seriously, the sex really is smoking hot for a kink I don't usually like and can't really get into myself. Good job on that accomplishment!)

Well that was purely enjoyable. :) There's been a couple of books in this series that I haven't liked as much, this was not one of them. A solid 4.5 stars that I'm rounding up because I was just happy reading it.

I loved checking in with Eli and Quinn again. They are just such a great couple and this short fits so neatly in with the last book and what was going on in the last book. It was cute to see Eli as the nervous one in need of some reassurance. Of course that came in the guise of some hot little action with the lovely Quinn. Just love these two together.

Cute story with a reminder of what makes Eli and Quinn so great together. Plus it's a hot little number. All wins to me. :D

Fun little short story. This does nothing to advance the story of any of the characters. It's more of an aside, just a few scenes to show Eli and Quinn settling in together. If you skip it, you're not missing anything from the series. If you want a quick smutty read, then this is an excellent way to spend your 99 cents + tax. It's actually a lot of reading for the price, or maybe I've just been stung by what other people are charging for their shorts.

The end was a bit cheesy, but it *is* a romance, after all. And honestly, Eli annoys the crap out of me. Maybe that's why I like watching him get spanked so much. :)
