NOTHING SAYS LOVE LIKE FIST FIGHTING Meeting your girlfriend's family is always a nerve-wracking event...but in Hirata's case things couldn't be worse! Chiemi's father is a legendary pro wrestler--and one who's notorious for using dirty, rotten tricks at that! And when Hirata meets the Yusa family, Chiemi's father appears in his full-on wresting getup, and makes this decree: Hirata must to fight--and win!--to be granted the privilege of dating his daughter. Hirata might be down for the count as Love Attack gets ready to rumble!
Chiemi’s father was intense and completely insane. First he threatens to beat up Hirata and then kidnaps his daughter as a “test” to see if Hirata would rescue her. Props to Hirata for having to face down that absurdity.
I don’t understand why Hirata and Chiemi’s friends didn’t go to the police in order to get her out of the house. I can kind of understand Hirata not going to the cops. After Chiemi’s father got him thrown in jail, the police might not believe him, but her friends . . . They saw the lock and chains on the door, bars were on her windows, the room was a mess, Chiemi was rocking back and forth on the floor losing her mind. It was clear that she had been in solitary confinement for a while. Those girls should have called the police.
It doesn’t even make a lot of sense. I can kind of get Chiemi’s father not wanting his daughter dating a “wimp” seeing as he’s a pro wrestler. He wants to see his daughter with someone that he knows will protect her and take care of her. But the whole thing about wanting Hirata to fight him to win Chiemi? That sounded more like he wanted his daughter to be with a violent man.
This volume was just weird. The whole over protective dad angle was preposterous. It made it hard to relate to and it was so over the top it wasn't funny. I liked the parts that didn't include Chiemi's family. So there was very little in this volume I liked since most of it revolved around her retired wrestler dad having a weird complex over his daughter having a new boyfriend.
Still interested in the series, but I'm hoping the next volume has less of her dad in it.
I definitely recommend this manga series c: Briefly saying: I just liked it a lot because it was super funny, I was cracking up the entire time while reading, and the premise of it is really cute and simply. Between Chiemi and Hirata, their love story is super cute and whimsical and because of each one's timidness for the other, I'm smitten with them.
The art work is pretty well done, no one's hands or necks are too long and no one looks anatomically incorrect- and also how the artist portrays all the funny scenes of the characters is also done successfully so.
Appllauuseeee ^^
I enjoyed reading this and I shall continue reading this series!
PS. In this specific novel, Chiemi's father is crazy as hell. SO, just be warned as you read the next chapter!!
Chiemi's father was once a great wrestler and now he wants to pummel Hirata to pieces for dating his sweet sweet daughter. I personally found the overprotective dad chapter funny...well, at first but when he locked Chiemi in a room and didn't let her out even for school, I thought he took it a tad bit too far.
In that chapter, I also liked when Chiemi slept over at Hirata's home. It was cute. The other chapter deals with the horny Hirata and his bulging teen hormones (he can't help himself when he's around Chiemi) so he starts pushing her away and making her think he hates her. It leaves on a cliffhanger. The two are locked in a closet or was it the school's shed?? Anyway, Hirata has turned into a raging hormonal teenage pervert now. How will Chiemi react??
I don't know how I feel about all these female characters who can't seemingly 'can't' control their sexual urges. I mean, what are they animals?? I'll see what happens in the next volume.

I had read this years ago, maybe 2012-2013 when I was still a pre-teen. I definitely can see why I liked it then.
Funny enough, I had recently thought about this and wanted to re-read it because I had such a great time reading it back then. I think the author does a great job capturing what a teenage (high school) relationship can entail. Especially if it is their first relationship ever.
Uh😅 The dad is very weird? Locking her up for a WEEK cause you didn’t approve of her bf?? I know it’s to be funny but it’s not it’s abuse. And they fight like every second, it’s very annoying. Cant you think of other things to keep their relationship interesting? The male lead is the only good thing about this manga so far.
Has its funny moments. However, I don't like the pressure the guy is under to have sex to save his reputation. Nor do I like the need for a father figure to be super defensive and mean about his daughter dating a guy for the first time.
This whole dad thing really annoyed the hell out of me. But I loved everything else about the volume. The tension is so thick and the characters really like each other. It feels like I'm in school again going through my first real crush situation, lol. I love this series so far.
Still a manga with two awesome protagonists with anger management issues; who both like to solve things with their fists more so than talking, who fall in love with each other!!!! Worst sentence ever, but whatever.
Chiemi and Hirata have being going out for awhile. Who knew that he was such an honest gentleman instead of a thug? Basically Chiemi is locked up by her father, who is using her as bait to see just how far Hirata is willing to go in order to protect her. turns out, he was a pro-wrestler and has a lot of mad skills!

Unfortunately, I can't justify getting it just because it makes me cackle like an old witch from a children's fairy-tale!
In Conclusion
Love Attack is a romantic comedy. A really cute fluff read that promises to at least make you smile!
I am enjoying this crazy series. In this volume her Dad finds out she has a boyfriend and she has to bring him home for the Dad to approve. Hirata bring Yusa home and the craziness begins. he father was the legendary pro wrestler who starts to fight Yusa to see if he is good enough to date his daughter. Needless to say alot of crazy things happen in this book. The Dad at one point locks Hirata up and won't let her out. Yusa has to figure out how to free her.

The whole thing with the former pro-wrestler father testing the boyfriend got a little old and a little weird, but the characters are cute and pretty funny.
I'm really loving this series. I'm glad I was able to find it. It's cute and quirky, and worth a read if you like your books over the top and ridiculous - which I most definitely do.
The craziness continues in this second volume of Love Attack. Hirata and Chiemi are the toughest couple in high school. Nothing, however, can prepare Hirata for meeting Chiemi's father. It seems that her Dad is Hella Great Yusa, the retired Japanese wrestler known for having introduced every dirty trick possible to professional wrestling. He challenges Hirata to a fight! The father also decides to hold Chiemi prisoner! Nothing goes easily for Hirata and Chiemi in this great rom-com manga.
