Chrome was a solid MMC, Rugged, loyal, and trying his best but he shouldn’t have had to carry this story on his own. This had potential to be a cute second-chance romance for a divorced woman getting a fresh start, but Kosha made it a tough ride. Easily one of my least favorite heroines this year she lacked emotional maturity, parenting instincts, and any real self-awareness.

Yes, Melanie acted out but how could she not? Kosha uprooted her right before senior year without a single honest conversation, then just stood there while grown folks disrespected her child. And instead of being present and emotionally available, she was busy sneaking off for backseat hookups. Priorities, please like if all the time you been the breadwinner the one supporting her then find away to gently inform her. Your child just witnessed a domestic violence incident between you and her dad, your first priority is one your own safety ANDD THEN THE SAFETY and security of your child. Talking about “I didn’t think she’d want to be around me” SO WHAT IF SHE DOESN’T you the mother here you set the tone. So busy tryna get a AHA told you so moment that you letting the same girl you flip flop between calling grown and a child flounder. Like her sense of self righteousness and pettiness toward her child was crazy af (that whole MY MAN don’t want you speech was so weird to me sorry idc, that’s a baby you gave birth to, yall are not competition and it’s a way to address that as a parent, like as 40 year old woman too but okay). If I’m being honest she expected a lot of her 17 year old child for the very little she gave.

The pregnancy confusion plot? Wild. Girl, you're 37. Your husband was cheating and distancing himself, but it never crossed your mind he was actively avoiding another baby WITH YOU? Like this entire book from start to finish was raw sex and cream pies but you confused about a baby in your womb at 37??? It’s embarrassing the things Chrome was immature about were expected but Koko she threw me off BADD.

That said, it wasn’t all bad. I really liked Onyx and Zinc—they were fun, had great energy, and honestly deserve their own book. Neon and Steel seemed cool too, but we didn’t get enough of that authentic motorcycle club grit I was hoping for.

Final thoughts: Chrome deserved a better partner, and readers deserved a more balanced story. But the side characters give me hope for future installments. I’ll stick around—just don’t give Onyx and Zinc a Kosha 2.0, please.

Not for me

I enjoyed other works from this author but this story was a miss for me. I got irritated by the MMC constantly referring to the FMC as “old, bald-headed a**”. Too much of it focused on her being 37 and him 24. If they had any similarities then maybe I would ignore the age gap, but the need to constantly call her old was too much. Their relationship was all surface level, they both just liked what they saw. And for her to be a divorced, single mother and so immature and weak was just draining.

She is supposed to be some kind of entrepreneur boss B, but can’t seem to have an honest conversation with anyone. She relies on her best friend Onyx to explain to her teen daughter why they had to move and start over. There was also nothing ‘funny’ about Koko’s first time meeting his parents.

A closing note: I really wish authors would stop using pregnancy (surprise, hidden, whatever) as essential plot points. Again it just made Koko seem dumb, because why are you meeting a random man who is closer in age to your daughter and you only 5 years younger than his parents and ending up pregnant off the first time. Do diseases and birth control not exist in these worlds?

My favorite type of MMC; possessive and protective. I enjoyed this book. The dialogue keep me reading! I was entertained.

Me 🤝🏽 unhinged man

First Melanie needed to be knocked between the washer and dryer… She was too disrespectful and I’m glad they had Onyx to set her straight each and every time. Koko was doing too much gentle parenting sometime kids really need to know the real… I’m glad she got that reality check .. she needed to see for herself.
Chrome said you mine and idc what you talking bout 😭… my type of unhinged. He got a taste of Koko and was NOT letting up. I get she was scared after her husband scarred her but she wanted him as bad he wanted her. Chrome mad it known age ain’t nothing but a number and that he’s definitely a big dawg 😌💪🏾… that clinic scene took me out 😭😭😭😭😭😭 he was not playing with her or about her

When I say Chrome gave what it was supposed to give?! Whew! From the moment this man hit the page, I knew I was in for a wild ride. Chrome is that brooding, alpha energy that we all love but when he locks eyes on what he wants—game over. The tension? Thick. The chemistry? Loud. And the storyline? Had me flipping pages like my life depended on it. Let's not forget that this was an age gap romance where the FMC was older than Chrome but he did not care. He put everything he had into getting that woman and when she was still trying to give my boy the brush off, he applied even more pressure. Koko was out here trying to run from her destiny and that man was like, nah bruh, that's not how this works LOL.
That teenage daughter though? Oh she needed one of those down south grandma wh**pins hahahahah but she got it together before it was too late. I am telling y'all that this book will not disappoint and it was definitely a well had time!

Chrome is hilarious

This was a fast-paced insta-love age-gap romance, and I enjoyed it so much. Chrome was funny as h*ll. His inner monologue had me cracking up laughing. He really made this book for me. Fade, for her part, was alright. I liked that she acknowledged her childish behavior and got herself right. I would have really loved if she popped that daughter of hers in the mouth, but I guess I can't have everything.

CHROME👏🏾

I’m not gonna lie, Kosha’s daughter had me ready to jump through the pages with the way she was acting, but it definitely added to the drama and emotion. I absolutely loved Kosha and Chrome together. He appealed perfectly to her soft side, and their connection was everything. Moral of the story is: move to that new city!

3🌟!

Solid motorcycle club romance where the leader falls for the new woman in town. I would have preferred this more if the age gap wasn't MMC 24/25 and the FMC 37. This story isn't my favorite of this author, but if you don't mind wide age gaps, this might be the book for you. I am also still looking to read book 2; hopefully, it's on Zinc and Onyx!

I'm sorry this book was not good at all ! the FMC was very immature . She didn't know how to communicate at all as an older women. How the heck were they so in love when we only got 3 interactions between them before she got pregnant ? And 2 of them was just them having sex. They went a whole month without speaking to each other and then a couple of weeks later stopped speaking again. I just feel as though this strong love they had for each other was not built up well enough for the plot. Having raw sex with someone is not all it should be for you to love someone. They knew nothing about each other and they didnt go on an official date until 75% into the book and by that time she is pregnant. The shooting up the abortion clinic was really just major eye roll. She is 37 years old pregnant by a 25 year old she meet over a couple of months. Idk this didn't do it for me. Like the FMC just seemed emotionally reckless and careless. Nothing she gave was "boss bitch".

Got extremely tired of hearing about their age difference. Also her daughter was too disrespectful and she did nothing about it. DNF’d at 42%. The FMC gave stupid vibes and it annoyed me.

Okay girlies, now let’s get into this real quick because Chrome by Connie Easton had me in a chokehold. Yes, it’s a hood romance. Yes, I was screaming, laughing, and clutching my pearls, BUT we’re not gonna act like this book didn’t hit on something real when it comes to Black women and how we experience love.

Let’s start with the obvious: Chrome is crazy. Like shoot-up-an-abortion-clinic crazy. No exaggeration , HE IS UNHINGED. But also? He’s consistent. Protective. Ride-for-you-down-to-the-dirt loyal. And that’s where the confusion starts because… why did I start rooting for him? 🥴

And Koko? Whew. She’s not just a character, she’s a mirror. A Black woman who’s been hurt, overlooked, abandoned… and still trying to hold it all together. Trying to be strong for her child, for herself, while still figuring out how to trust again. How to believe that love could be safe, soft, and without an agenda.

But baby, this wasn’t just a romance… it was a motorcycle romance with some real-deal substance. Connie Easton took that gritty, street love energy and wrapped it in a message about what it looks like when Black folks love and protect each other. Because this story wasn’t just about Chrome and Koko, it was about a community.

Even in the hood. Even in chaos. These characters built something strong ,something that poured back into their own people. A foundation that said, We protect us. And that hit deep. Because when you’re used to being abandoned, unsupported, and left to fend for yourself, seeing a whole crew come together to uplift, celebrate, and protect their community? That’s revolutionary.

And the way Connie tied that back to the next generation? Whew. It’s like she was saying: Look what we could do if we truly showed up for one another. If we created safe spaces where our kids could be free, where our women felt valued, where our men were encouraged to lead with love, even when it’s mess.

Connie Easton really did THAT. She gave us chaos, hood love, and all the drama, but she also wrote something deeply healing. She showed us what happens when Black women are forced to rebuild ourselves over and over, in silence. How that pain doesn’t just sit in our hearts , it spills over into our parenting, our mental health, and our ability to be vulnerable with the next man who tries to love us.

And let’s be honest, sometimes we don’t reject love because we don’t want it… we reject it because we’re scared it’ll break us again. That’s what made Koko’s journey so raw. So real. Because when you’ve only ever been hurt, love starts to feel like a setup.

So yes, this book is hilarious, messy, and absolutely insane , but it’s also true. It’s a reminder that even when we’re guarded, even when we’ve been through hell and back… we are still worthy of love that doesn’t require us to bleed for it.

And then Chrome shows up, unhinged, yes, but also consistent, protective, and willing to love Koko with no mask on. And it’s scary. Because when you’ve been hurt… real love feels foreign. Suspicious even.

So yeah, it’s a hood romance , fictional and funny as hell, but the message? It’s loud. When Black women heal, we don’t just become better partners… we break chains.

Read this book. Laugh. Blush. Scream. But most importantly, see yourself. Because Connie Easton gave us more than a story. She gave us space to heal.

But please… proceed with caution and maybe a prayer circle, because Chrome is NOT wrapped too tight and that man might just become your favorite red flag. 😂

My random thoughts as I read my first book by this author..

Oh no, Mel needs her ass whooped. Get into her ungrateful ass Onxy.. Koko needs to check her ass.

Who told Koko to take he ass out there to confront folks when she new af, and the other people stayed in the shop. She got what she deserved.

Why does she keep allowing this heffer to be disrespectful. I can’t take it. Mel needs to be put in her place

Chrome being real immature, trying to call Koko out at the grad party.

Hmm sitting in the back seat; I already know where this is heading.

Aint no way they are in love already. In lust maybe

Wait Mel lost her damn mind. And Koko is a big part of the problem. Why is she slapping Houston when Mel just came out her face? Grrr

Chrome is unreasonable if he doesn’t understand why Koko wouldn’t want him to kill her child’s father; especially in front of said child. That immature mindset

Now his momma scolding him about his seasoned women ad he’s defending dating her. And she talks like she is a young hood rat that she trying to insinuate that Koko is. This is embarrassing

lol giving a man that you not even with a copy of your abortion of your pregnancy with his enemy as his bday gift is … I’m at a loss for words. This is pure comedy

“Mama, why didn’t you tell me what’s really going on with daddy” She did and you turned around and said you giving up on him for making a mistake. Tuh.
I’m sorry Mel isn’t going to be redeemable in my eyes.

At least chrome father has some sense.

Litty was funny with that line, everybody in the chopping business today.

He shot at her. This so called relationship is a joke.

Argh Koko is just as big of a goofy. I cannot

So was not feeling this couple at all. Most of the other characters sucked as well. I had a lot of second hand embarrassment. The only person I liked was Onxy but low key scared to read her story next. But I guess I’ll jump right in

Yeah… that man is one unhinged, stupid calm, laid-back mutherfucker—and I was EATING IT UP. The insta-attraction and insta-love hit HARD, and normally I don’t vibe with reverse age gaps, but this one? I didn’t even mind. The “baby boy”/“too young too old” moments were definitely side-eye worthy though—like okay girl, we get it, now move on.

But Kosha? That’s a boss ass bitch right there. Straight up. And Chrome didn’t just fall into her world—he bulldozed his way in and dragged her into her soft girl era whether she was ready or not. I LOVE that for her. Their connection was deep, intense, and real. Romantic or not, some bonds just hit different, and I felt that all through this story.

Let’s talk real life though—being the woman who’s the breadwinner in a relationship with a man? That hits on a whole different level, and unless you’ve lived it, you wouldn’t get it. It’s not for the weak. Kosha handled it with grace, fire, and vulnerability, and I respected the hell out of that.

Now Onyx? That’s my kind of girl. Ride or die, ten toes down for her bestie. She said what she said and wasn’t letting nobody play with Kosha on her watch—especially that goddaughter of hers. She needed that check.

And MEL?? I been waiting for that slap! Gentle parenting flew right out the window because sis needed a reality check. Kosha might’ve been outta pocket, but Mel’s attitude was worse. Talking about her daddy’s actions were a “mistake”? Girl, it’s giving weak…and I ain’t here for that.

Only thing I didn’t vibe with? That nickname “Fade.” Like… huh? I get it, it ties to her hairstyle, but for a bad bitch like Kosha? We need something that EATS. That ain’t it.

All in all, Chrome gave everything it needed to give—messy, grown, emotional, spicy, and real. Connie Easton, you did THAT. I need more unhinged men and boss bitches like yesterday.

So so Good!

Man, what a great book! Ms. Connie Easton hit it out of the park and I cannot wait for the continuation of this series . I don’t know whose story it’s going to be. I hope it’s Onyx and her young . This book is about love. It’s about trust it’s about a woman who is in her late 30s has a daughter who is 17? She is freshly divorced because she found out her husband has another family had another family so she got divorced. She’s a boss lady, she owns a business and is a best friend a mom to a 17-year-old who is hardheaded and she moves to this new town after this horrendous, marriage and meets Chrome in some weird circumstances. Let’s just say when they first meet she on 10 he’s on 10 and yeah.

So the story really is about them falling in love and it’s like he is 25, 24 when she meets him, he turns 25 in the book and she is 37 so do with that what you will. The book takes like a really close look at age gap relationships, but with the woman being the more mature one. This guy does not play about this woman chrome does not play fade. shows up for her and doesn’t let up on her and so it’s just a story of them falling in love and what happens and it’s really just like a feel good story there’s not a lot of drama. It’s just a young man who was determined to get at Koko , and a woman who is just as determined to protect herself from pain.

So, I’m just gonna leave it there this book is a five star read for me. I highly encourage anyone to read it. If you just want a story that’s gonna make you feel good, it’s gonna give you into the spice that you need and the laughs and you know I was kicking my feet up a lot so I hope you enjoy this like I did and I cannot wait for the next book.

Chrome

This author knows how to write a toxic love story. Chrome and Kosha gave me an instalove and age gap romance in one. Chrome was pretty much all in from the beginning but it took some time for Kosha to accept her feelings especially with the age gap and dealing with heartbreak from her divorce. Chrome allowed for Kosha to have the soft life and feel her feelings without having to be hard all the time. Chrome was a YN through and through and didn’t play no games about his woman. These two had some communication issues at times but they ended up getting it together.

Kosha’s daughter Melanie needed to have her butt beat with her disrespectfulness but one of my favorite characters, Onyx, always gave her the real and didn’t sugar coat anything for her. It took for Mel seeing her father for the trash human being he was for her to finally get her head out her butt and apologize to her mother and start being respectful. Had Kosha pulled off the kid gloves in handling her sooner and told her the real or allowed her to see the real, it probably would have happened sooner.

If you like toxic romance this will be enjoyable for you. I enjoy a bit of toxicity at times, but at times this one was a bit too much for me, but I couldn’t put the book down. I’m hoping that the next book isn’t as toxic.

This one had so many problems for me!.

Firstly, there were a number of grammar issues within the book, they were kind of jarring and changed the reading experience.

Second, the entire relationship in this story happened Off page! Also I had no idea why these people were into each other outside of physical attraction. Both the characters literally had 3 interactions, 2 of them being sexual and one of them being when they met, in between these interactions they weren't even talking to each other(texting or calls) or even hanging out with each other yet the mmc was so in love with the FMC and the FMC in love with the mmc. They kept referring to each other as their "peace" yet they only hung out twice so how? I understand insta love but this was out of this world. Then the pregnancy plot?

Another issue I had was that the person who was 12 years older in the relationship was so immature and would not communicate at all! Including communicating with he 17 year old daughter who was truly trifling!!!

Also the age gap was something that was emphasised but wasn't really clear on how it affected the plot because the only person worried about it was the fmc…

Overall this was yet again a great premise that failed in execution due to pacing and overall plot.

Here’s the thing….I got so tired of hearing about this man’s age. And the whole thing of them being so in love after only 2 encounters and only having sex once? Umm okay.

Idk the FMC I just couldn’t get with she just BEYOND annoying. She kept trying to little boy the MMC but the crazy thing is he was the ONLY one acting like an adult in the whole situation. You would not know this lady was 37 years old with a 17 year old daughter. She wanted her daughter to communicate what her issues were but get this SHE didn’t know how to communicate. And then her being so shocked she was pregnant while knowing she’s had NOTHING but unprotected sex with that man. Had all the symptoms but when folks mentioned her possibly being pregnant she dismissed them. It was like girl BFFR. And then to not even tell Chrome she was pregnant she got so in her feelings she was gonna abort the baby and not even tell him she was ever even pregnant simply because she refused to communicate and was in her feelings. I was with Chromes mother he did not need not to be with this women. Honestly once he found out what she was gonna do he should her told they were strictly gonna co-parent and move on with his life.Instead of wasting his youth chasing an older woman who was incapable of dealing with her emotions.

YM/OW is the only type of age gap romance that I will read. Was really looking forward to reading Chrome and was sorely disappointed. It felt like a huge chunk of the story was left out. Where was the dating? I’m down for instalove but within reason. We saw barely any interactions between Chrome and Kosha outside of sex and that only happened twice! Kosha is immature as hell and needed to stop being so weak when it came to her daughter. Kosha was acting like an immature teenager. I understand wanting to protect your child but to up and move when your daughter has one month left of her senior year of high school? Who does that? I would understand if the ex husband was threatening but the man just didn’t give a fck! If I was Melanie I’d be mad at her too!

I skimmed a lot cause nothing about the plot made sense. I hate storylines where the man forces the woman or guilts her into having the baby. Why couldn’t she just be a divorcee having some fun with a younger man? Don’t want to read a story where the moment the FMC is free from one ninja she gets locked down by another. I would have preferred a HFN instead of a HEA.

4.7 stars 🌟. I absolutely loved this book. Chrome is really that ninja fr. He stood on big business and the way he handled himself at 25 years of age. Wheewww God can you please send a man like him my way. That man did not play about Kosha.. and no she did not deserve him fr. She was playing with him every step of the way, but we goin let her slide because of her past relationship. Their dynamic is different with Kosha being more than a decade older him, but I liked it. You can definitely tell that maturity does not come with age cause Kosha lacked, where Chrasmere gained. But don’t get it twisted Fade.. (Kosha) was a boss babe with her own business, house, cars, and money. She was definitely matching Chrome fly. I loved how fast paced this book was and the attraction between the two was instant and real. They wasted no time in getting down to business. I lovedd how sure Chrome was of his feelings. He applied that pressure and had Kosha overly grown ass running. HA! How quickly them tables turned.

This was an okay read for me. I’m familiar with Connie Easton’s work, so I was excited to dive into Chrome and Kosha’s story—but honestly, Chrome carried this book all on his own. He fell first and he fell hard! I loved how protective he was over Kosha, but he was also hot-headed and toxic at times.

Kosha, on the other hand, felt one-dimensional. She had so much potential for character development, especially given her past, but it just didn’t happen. Still, I enjoyed most of the book. Chrome’s decisiveness really stood out, and I appreciated seeing Kosha be loved properly after everything she went through with her wack a$$ first husband. You could really feel the love between them, even when they couldn’t seem to get it right.

I also loved that Kosha and Mel were able to repair their relationship. That added a nice emotional layer. My only real gripe is the ending—it dragged a little longer than it needed to.

Must Read 👇🏽

Ms. Easton, I have read a few books before, but this one right here is by far the best I ever read from you. Ma'am you did your thing. This is a masterpiece. Chrome is that man. You would have thought he was thirty plus with the way he was handling business. He was a boss in his own right. Koko "Fade" fits right into life. She had "lady boss" written on her forehead. They were like two missing puzzle pieces on the board that completes the picture. With all that being said, I need more of Chrome and Fade. A wedding and a third Chrasmere would be lovely. That way, you can keep the legacy alive and growing. I will be one of the first to read it. Fade isn't too old to produce another little person. Women have kids past the age of 40 nowadays.

Ladies and gentlemen, this novel is straight 🔥. Chrome is a hot head and quick tempered, but he didn't play about Fade. I highly suggest this book, so grab your copy today.

He Knew That Was The One!!

Kosha aka Koko moved to Eastlake for a better life her and her daughter. She's a boss in her own right. Her daughter Mel was a little brat. Oxyn got Mel together, she told her why she left her no good a** daddy, and since she wants to be grown give her mama everything back she gave her. She disrespected her mama one too many times. I understand you not wanting to putting your hands on her, but Mel had pushed her to her limit. Then Mel thought she had a chance with Chrome the whole time he was checking for her mama. Chrome was the Mr. Crashout himself. Rini didn't want to let Chrome go. Kosha was acting so immature at times, plus their age difference. All that was over when she found out she is pregnant. His boy saw Fade at the clinic. Chrome came up there and showed his a**. Chrome proposed with the help of Mel

All gas no brakes!

I may be young but I AM READYYYYY! Their initial meeting wasn’t the best but it was still something about Kosha that had Chrome captivated. Kosha, focused on adjusting to the new city with her teen daughter wasn’t interested in getting to know someone. However, her mouth was saying one thing but that behavior said otherwise; one dose of Chrome and despite trying to deny it, Kosha was drawn to him…trying to fight the urge wasn’t playing in her favor. Chrome fell hard and fast for Kosha.. he was heavy on “whether you want to or not” you gone be with me/mine. Quick read of blocking out the noise and giving into what you deserve despite what others may feel about it. Kosha found a MAJOR upgrade in Chrome b/c her ex-husband was disgusting!

BMG: Chrome

Chrome possessed BDE for a youngin. He set his eyes on Kosha & dived head first in. I will say that yes he was mature for his age but wasn’t fully mature to realize his insensitive nature at times. Koko was older plus she had an almost grown daughter. There were times where she put her first while also thinking like a mother. Of course she was worried to get involved with him cause of age but she was thinking of her daughter. They both needed help with communicating especially when they both played that blame game involving exes. Now Melody deserved every peck she got & when Ko finally stopped coddling her I was all for it. Onyx is a true definition of a friend/sister and I’m BEYOND EXCITED for her story with Zinc!

Chrome did not come to play!

This book was not what I expected but I’m glad I gave it a chance.

If you didn’t YN’s are in and that’s exactly what Chrome proved to Kosha. Kosha a single mother of a high school senior has relocated to THE LAKE after divorcing her lying, cheating, scheming ex-husband. He’s living with his second family and pretending as if he doesn’t have a responsibility of their daughter. Meanwhile, Kosha is trying to successfully reopen her all ladies barber shop and protect her daughter from uncertain hurts. It’s been difficult but that’s when she crosses paths with Chrome, a 25 yo head of a biker gang. Chrome sees Kosha and it’s all she wrote. He’s set out to make her is by any means necessary.

Turns out, I’m digging the YN’s. 🤭🤷🏾‍♀️

Cute Age Gap Romance

This was such a cute story with an age gap romance that totally worked. I loved how much of a crash-out Chrasmere was over Kosha lol it was intense but he was 100% with her from the jump. Kosha’s hesitation about jumping into something new so soon after a divorce was valid but she definitely couldn’t resist Chrome.

Onyx and Zinc, who were the much-needed voices of reason throughout the story. They kept things 100% and always let their friends know when they were tripping!

Now, about her daughter… OMG. I was ready to fight her myself! That little brat was driving me crazy—but, to be fair, she did pull herself together in the end.

Overall, it was a solid, enjoyable read.

Over all I did enjoy the book I just didn’t like how she couldn’t communicate properly and act her age I think the age gap being brought up repeatedly I didn’t like that’s what the whole issue with her and not being able to be Open to her daughter about her dad her friend ended up telling her umm the last thing was when the family met her and they made a joke knowing she sounds like that especially since it was already communicated through chrome they decide to joke anyways I don’t like that felt like it shouldn’t have been in the book but I did like that they apologize and said they wouldn’t joke around I think chrome was a good strong MC I could picture him well but her the pixie cut eww no I almost stopped reading cause of it idk bout yall lol

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Genre: Contemporary Black Romance / Urban Romance
Spice Level: Hot with purpose 🔥
Tropes: Age gap (older woman/younger man), opposites attract, club scene tension, protective alpha, surprise baby, found family, HEA

Whewww... this book was not what I expected—and I mean that in the best way.
I went in thinking I had it all figured out based on the synopsis... yeah, no. Connie Easton had other plans. This story flipped the age gap trope in a way I didn’t even know I needed. Our FMC, Kosha aka KoKo, is 37, newly divorced, and just trying to start fresh in a new city. She’s guarded (for good reason), a female barber opening up her own shop, and definitely not in the mood for games.

Enter Chrome—real name Chrasmere—who is 25 and absolutely refuses to act his age. But in the best, most mature, “I handle mine” kind of way. From the jump, Chrome was intentional. He saw KoKo, he wanted KoKo, and he moved like it. Age? Not a factor. This man had presence, power, and a crazy level of focus for someone still in his twenties. And let’s be clear—he was also unhinged in that protective, ride-or-die, “I'll burn it all down for you” kinda way. I was HERE for it.

The chemistry between KoKo and Chrome? Off the charts. Their first meeting was full of drama (and no, I’m not spoiling it), but it set the tone for a messy, tension-filled, beautifully chaotic love story. And when they run into each other again at the club later? Yeah, just know the sparks were flying AND sizzling.

The spice? SPICED. Chrome knew what to do and exactly how to do it—and the way he handled KoKo? Whew. I was clutching pearls I don’t even own.

Now yes, this book had drama—but not the kind that drags. It had pace, it had heart, and every twist felt natural. You’ve got KoKo’s ex (ugh), Chrome’s ex (double ugh), her teenage daughter, a surprise baby (yes, you read that right), and a full crew of side characters who each felt like their own main characters. Shoutout to Onyx and Zinc especially—Connie, I’m begging for a spin-off or something because they were IT.

Best of all? It’s a complete story. No cliffhanger. You get the drama, the tension, the healing, the love—and a HEA that feels earned.

This was a one-sit read for me. Every chapter pulled me in deeper, and by the end, I was fully invested in KoKo and Chrome's messy, magnetic, beautifully Black love story.

Highly recommend for my fellow Kindle baddies who love soft girls, spicy men, and urban love stories that actually go somewhere.

The story definitely gave when you let a YN crash out over you 😂🤣. This was my first time diving into an age gap trope and listen… I was into it. I was a bit nervous at first but reading how to characters just fit so well with one another was just so good. But that disrespectful daughter Mel?? Babyyyy I was ready to jump in the book and handle her myself! I think her character hit a nerve because I know what my own mama sacrificed for me back in high school…especially having to start over somewhere new. Whew, deep breath.

All in all, this was a solid read. Messy, steamy, and heartfelt in the right places. I would love to read Zincs story and would even entertain a story about the twins.
