Fundamental strategy and marketing of photonic communication, the airwaves if you will This essay was written in 2000 and first published in 2018, but the question remains pertinent today as ever. It is one thing to buy the receiver and buy the data sourse but another altogather to pay for the information transmitted. The problem, if you agree that there is one, starts with the FCC selling photonic frequencies to broadcasting and communication companies. The media through which the wave partical photon travels belongs to us all, not the government. The particals at various energy levels, refered to as wavelength or as frequency was limited in early crystal radios. Control of the wave length of emissions made sense back then. Today, with far more capable electronics, the entire range of electromagnetic radiation can be more easily shared. The FCC's auction of band width to the highest bider creates a monopoly for the bidding network by biding up the offer to squeeze out all smaller competition.
