My books Your Soul's Plan: Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born (2007), Your Soul's Gift: The Healing Power of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born (2012), and Your Soul's Love: Living the Love You Planned Before You Were Born (2021) explore the premise that we are all eternal souls who plan our lives, including our greatest challenges, before we’re born for purposes of spiritual growth.
Your Soul's Plan contains stories of people who planned physical illness, having handicapped children, deafness, blindness, drug addiction, alcoholism, losing a loved one, and severe accidents.
Your Soul's Gift explores two topics that don't necessarily fall into the challenge category: spiritual awakening (though certainly an awakening can be challenging), and the pre-birth planning we do with our future pets. Those of you who love animals will be particularly touched to see how they agree to support us in our upcoming incarnation. The book also explores the pre-birth planning of miscarriage, abortion, caregiving, abusive relationships, sexuality, incest, adoption, poverty, suicide, rape, and mental illness.
The information about people's pre-birth plans was obtained by four gifted mediums and channels. The books present the actual conversations people had with their future parents, children, spouses, friends, and other loved ones when they planned their lives together. For readers, suffering that once seemed purposeless becomes imbued with deep meaning. Wisdom may be acquired in a more conscious manner; feelings of anger, guilt, blame, and victimization are replaced by acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, and peace.
Author Bio
In a personal session with a medium in 2003, I was astonished to speak with nonphysical beings who knew everything about me - not just what I had done in life, but also what I had thought and felt. They told me that I had planned many of my most difficult experiences before I was born. Realizing that a knowledge of pre-birth planning would bring great healing to people and allow them to understand the deeper purpose of their life challenges, I have since devoted my life to the study of pre-birth planning.
The subject of regression therapy and using what has happened in our previous lives to guide our current lives has always fascinated me. As a practicing witch and pagan, I accept the notion of reincarnation as a distinct probability (but lack the hubris to claim it is a firm reality). I have had experiences with things I believe to be otherworldly in origin. I once lived in a haunted house. Yet I also adopt a healthy dose of skepticism regarding claims made by certain parties when discussing the subject. When it comes to all things metaphysical and regression therapy in particular, I temper my openness to the concept with the very Christian warning to “Beware of false prophets.”
Which brings me to The Soul’s Gift. Author Robert Schwartz takes the concept of past lives a step further, claiming that all souls “plan” their future lives and that all of the bad things that occur in our current lives are the result of fighting against this plan. It is an intriguing concept. The idea that things happening in the present were planned in a past life, and that understanding that plan can empower an individual to reach one’s full potential, is something I was interested in exploring.
Unfortunately, the author lost all credibility for me in his opening chapters as he introduced the readers to the mediums and “spirit guides” who helped him write the book. This group includes…Jesus. Or Jeshua, as it prefers to call itself, a spirit that speaks through and with medium Pamela Kribbe. I afford no credence to anyone, whether New Age spiritualist or Judeo-Christian theologian, who claims to speak with the authority of either mythological beings or the holy personages of other faiths. There is something very smarmy and dirty about usurping the holy figures from other faiths for one’s own ends.
One of the most uncomfortable parts of the book was when “Jeshua” was discussing the idea that a woman had “planned” to be the victim of incest. I won’t even get into the specific of the discussion. Just sit there and try to rationalize that for a moment. According to Schwartz, women chose to be raped by planning their assaults as part of their soul’s spiritual development. Among other bizarre claims: Souls “plan” to have miscarriages in order to develop self-forgiveness and then the insinuation that abortion is the result of the souls of the mother and the unborn child failing to come to an agreement. Because even pregnancy is not a biological function well understood by science, but rather a metaphysical contract negotiation that sometimes falls through. Even as a woman who is Pro-Choice, I find this entire concept insulting.
The entire book is essentially a “blame the victim” cult sermon wrapped up in a faux blanket of love and universal harmony. I’ve read plenty of tripe out of the New Age moment over the years, but this book is beyond harmless tripe and fundamentally dangerous for the emotional well being of anyone who would adopt the concepts here.
An absolutely phenomenal book. Every page of the 524 pages(for me)were filled with thought provoking wisdom. Why would any being choose to experience a miscarriage, an abusive relationship, homosexuality or even have the potential of committing suicide? A continuation of Robert Schwartz's first book "Your Soul's Path", "Your Soul's Gift" takes the reader into the lives of several individuals who have had extreme challenges in their lives and gives an intimate look on how each had lived through the challenge and became a more evolved being. Using very skilled mediums who connect with the individuals Spirit Guides, or highly evolved beings or the individuals own higher self, the reader is taken to the pre-life planning session of the people involved. There you get a glimpse of how as Beings of Light we choose to incarnate into a life on Earth. Agreeing to a wide range of potential paths that manifest as we react to each particular experience, we learn and grow in a way that only living through the experience of being a human can give. This book changes people! It changes how you perceive our world as you begin to understand that nothing, NOTHING is as we had been lead to believe. You realize that you cannot judge anyone or anything anymore. You just have great compassion for those here with you as you realize how they are on their own journey of understanding and growth.
Schwartz will forever be remembered of being one of the first people to bring this important knowledge to the masses. I will be forever grateful to him for being such a courageous soul!:-)
Simply put... this book is a must read! Put it on top of your list of books to read. It will change your life.
I was enthralled by Your Soul's Gift - the power of the presentation and the enormously valuable information found within. It is a true masterpiece.
Schwartz begins by sharing what motivated him to write the book: "For millennia humanity has learned through suffering. If we want to move beyond the learning-through-suffering paradigm, then such an understanding [of how lives are planned] is essential." And further: "To bring an awareness . . . of soul planning into the collective consciousness so we can heal the wounded parts of ourselves . . . and in doing so bring an end to incest, rape, and other forms of violation."
A bit later, before the main body of work, Schwartz introduces himself, penning the trials he planned before birth and how his prayers were answered in his current lifetime. How powerful it is when an author shares his story of awakening with the reader! Yes, we learn volumes from those whose stories he tells, yet it is especially moving when we see who an author truly is in spirit.
Your Soul's Gift is presented thoughtfully. The people presented in each chapter experience a different life challenge. Schwartz introduces the topic at hand and then skillfully talks with each person about their experience. Channeled information then sheds light on the life challenge and why it was planned before birth. The mediums and their guides share insights and offer very valuable suggestions as to how one can work through these situations to heal and find peace. Schwartz concludes each chapter, masterfully bringing together points that were raised, adding more insights and depth to the material covered. It's beautifully written and deeply inspiring.
Many terms and concepts are introduced and discussed. We learn about free will, vibration or frequency, karma, being of service to others, the three layers of the soul, learning by contrast or opposites, the process of pre-birth planning, forgiveness work, how to heal traumatic wounds, and old and younger souls. Explanations are easy to grasp, and one is left with a greater understanding of and appreciation for the soul's journey.
The chapters are brilliantly positioned. There is an ebb and flow to the poignant stories; the reader is given respites between high intensity moments. Schwartz uses intellect and heart to create a flowing piece that does not overwhelm, but instead threads hope, succor, and inspiration throughout the material.
As each interviewee becomes enlightened by the information brought forth through the mediums' sessions, so, too, does the reader who sits in Schwartz's "classroom," where sensitive material is examined and discussed. The reader is privy to such intimate sessions and learns so much from the courageous people in the book. These individuals rose to share their trials so they could heal themselves and those who would read Your Soul's Gift.
Schwartz suggests the reader ask this question: "If I planned this experience before I was born, why would I have done that?" He explains that this query encourages expansion of consciousness. He teaches us that all souls are equal partners agreeing to incarnate for their respective growth opportunities. He invites acceptance of pre-birth planning, which enables us to release blame and judgment of others. Embracing pre-birth planning also offers meaning to life; otherwise, the events of our lives are random and often seemingly useless. Schwartz suggests that if we move from passive, victim consciousness to that of active soul participant, we can relate to our fellow souls with greater compassion, understanding, and Love.
I was very moved while reading Chapter 3, the story of Rebecca, who experienced a miscarriage. I wept, smiled, and remembered the miscarriage I had in 1997. Because I embrace the concept of planning at the soul level, the tears were sweet. I was inspired by the detailed account of the fetus being "the angel in human form."
In Chapter 8 Schwartz dares to explore the pre-birth planning of incest. This is perhaps the most powerful chapter, deserving a second read through. I consider sharing something this controversial to be an act of bravery.
Later in the book, Schwartz writes, "It is the awareness of pre-birth planning that can ultimately illuminate one to remember their soul's light, who they truly are." As I gleaned new information that expanded my spiritual knowledge, I felt reassured and comforted that the traumatic events I have experienced were not for naught; they were, in fact, pre-planned "gifts." To be reminded that we are not alone, that we are part of a soul group, that guides watch over us, and that we are all united as a Heavenly family brings me great joy. This book touched my soul, and I am deeply grateful.
I would encourage people to consider this book for their personal healing. For you are not just a passive recipient of information here; you are a soul undergoing transformation. Your Soul's Gift overflows with wisdom for healing present and past-life traumatic events. Schwartz writes, "Your soul . . . longs to integrate its unhealed aspects." If you embrace this idea before sitting down with the book, you will release hidden, unresolved issues more readily. This book is a powerful catalyst for change, helping you move to new vistas.
I highly recommend Your Soul's Gift. It's a gift to, and from, your soul.
Do you have unanswered questions about life? Have you ever wondered “Why does horrific things happen to good people", "Why am I always struggling", "Why does the Earth experience seem so cruel", "What's my purpose here"? This good book may lift you above the proverbial earth 'rubble' to a new, more enlightened perspective from every angle. It shows that our journeys through many lifetimes and much suffering and also joy are demonstrated to have meaning far beyond the limited perceptions of everyday life.
After I’ve read countless books on this topic, I can agree with most of what the Schwartz says. However, what set me off is his “conversations” with Jesus who, according to him, helped to write this book. I don’t know, maybe I’m simply not enlightened enough to believe in such nonsense as a direct dialog with Jesus and Him being a co-writer. The book felt extremely repetitive as well. The same thing rephrased in dozens of different ways and spread through the whole book that could be at least 1/2 shorter. Another thing that bothered me is that the author uses the same person in the book as a primary example. It would have been nice to have way more stories of other individuals for some different perspectives and credibility.
Voila, voila! Globally, this is a good book. I particularly enjoyed the chapter about abortions and birth. Though, I would better recommend Michael Newton for those who are interested in the journey of our souls and how things work up there. Unlike Saint Schwartz, Newton uses his academical knowledge and years of experience working with thousands of people to give his readers a better understanding of life in between lives and reincarnation, without tiring them to death with unnecessary sentimentalities and never ending banalities.
According to Robert Shwartz, victims of incest/rape actually 'plan' it for their spiritual advancement. I have not read a more warped thing in my entire life!! What kind of disgusting, perverted thought process is this?! Using spiritual mumbo jumbo to victim blame?!
'The soul carries with it the 'energy of incest '' . Wth!! A soul is supposed to be pure. What in any world is 'energy of incest'?!? How comfortably this man removes all blame from the perpetrators and fixes it on the victim! He actually claims that the victim 'asks for it'.
I cant bring myself to read a word further of this disgusting narrative. What a load of crap!!
This is one of the most insightful books I've ever read. Highly recommend it to anyone who truly wants to understand past lives and the reasons why we reincarnate. Scharwtz a certified hypnotherapist details how he brought several clients back to their pre-birth planning sessions to understand why they had chosen lives that involved; miscarriage, abortion, abusive relationships, incest, adoption, poverty, suicide, rape and mental illness. With the help of four gifted psychics each client is given further in depth information to understand what each life was designed to help them understand. In many cases difficult lives were planned to help the soul learn how to love and honour themselves. This is a ground breaking book showing that life is not unfair, there is a spiritual reason for everything that happens to us, we are masters of our destiny, and what appears like suffering is really the soul's attempt to grow and evolve.
There are many books on spirituality including channeled books which explain the purpose of your life and the working of the Cosmos. Quite a few of these are life changers. Rob's books go a bit further where he ties up these spiritual principles with actual life scenarios and this greatly helps in internalising these concepts.
Rob, wish you could write a few more volumes of these case studies and also include pre-birth planning with soul mates.
A very creative thoughtful book. If your interested in the spiritual or have ever wondered about 'fate' this is the book to read. Easy to undersand and compelling. Thank you for a fast delivery. Xoxo, Goodreads winner
After reading and loving „Your Soul‘s Plan“ I had to pick up the sequel too. Mainly I wanted to know what they’re saying in the chapter about mental health because there wasn’t anything mentioned about it in the previous book.
And OMG, I‘m glad I read this book because it was so relevant (the mental health chapter)! I threw my hands up in the air multiple times and said „Yes!“ over and over again because I agreed so much 😂
Also I loved the chapter about pets!! It was so freaking interesting.
One star less because I found it repetitive towards the end. Some things and questions are repeated up to 4 times in one chapter. And after reading that many chapters I know how they’re built and I don’t need to be reminded in multiple chapters how the process of speaking with the mediums is working.
If you’re struggling with something in your life or someone close to you does and it doesn’t really matter if the specific „problem“ isn’t mentioned in the two books, do yourself a favor and read one or both of these books! You can get so much out of them. It can change you world view forever. Mine did.
Wymaga to zmiany odczuć. W jaki sposób możemy uzdrowić swoje fałszywe przekonania, skoro świat zewnętrzny wciąż nam je odzwierciedla i stale doświadczamy sytuacji, a nawet przeżywamy całe wcielenia, które potwierdzają nam prawdziwość tych przekonań?
Jeśli jednak stale sobie coś wizualizujemy, a w dodatku zasilamy wyobrażenia silnymi uczuciami, możemy przyciągnąć je do swojego fizycznego świata.
Jesteście niezwykle wartościowi, a energia waszego uzdrowienia dociera do odległych zakątków Wszechświata. Wszystko inne jest fikcją i zadaje kłam waszej wspaniałości." (s. 285) :)
I was aware my son and I had a actual plan. I was present in a dream when he presented his plan to me. I became willing to give birth to him. I didn't hear all of his plans but I was aware that I would agree to his plan with a great deal of love. We have always been close. To this day we still are. He has married a woman who stepped in so that I could let her be the one to help him on his way. She was worried after they were married that my son and I didnt talk as much. I told her that was because he was to cleave onto her as she took her place in his life. I am so lucky to have her in our lives. I wish I had the same guidance for my daughter. Maybe now I will
I’ve now read all three books in this series, and all I can say is—wow. Just wow. I started with My Soul’s Plan, then moved on to Your Soul’s Love, and finally came to this one, Your Soul’s Gift. I’m so glad I saved it for last, especially since it concludes with the chapter on “mental illness.” That topic has been a profound part of my journey—both personally and within my family, who I know are my soul family in this incarnation.
I turned 50 in January this year, and it’s incredible to reflect on how much has changed. When I turned 40 over a decade ago, I had no desire to celebrate. People assumed it was because I didn’t want to get older, but that was never the issue. Aging itself has never troubled me. The real reason was that I had spent 40 years on this earth (at that time, I didn’t believe in past or parallel lives, or even other dimensions), and I felt like my personal growth was painfully slow. I was still struggling intensely, and I didn’t know how to give myself grace, unconditional love, or even grasp the idea that good and bad do not exist. That deeper understanding only came to me at 45.
Between 45 and 50, my growth has accelerated in ways I never expected. Lifelong struggles have resolved—sometimes suddenly—and I feel like I’m stepping into a new sense of freedom, joy, gratitude, and the ability to give unconditional love not just to those around me, but most importantly, to myself. Because, as I’ve come to realise, we cannot truly love others until we love ourselves.
Robert Schwartz’s books have been instrumental in these shifts, alongside the works of Byron Katie, Eckhart Tolle, and many others. His exploration of soul planning has helped me integrate my experiences with a sense of purpose and deeper understanding. If you’re on a journey of self-discovery and healing, I can’t recommend this series enough.
I feel bad for giving this book such a low rating but for some reason it took me a couple of months to get it done. My brother raved about it in audio books so I was excited to read it and I didn't really get the same feeling as him. I found the material believable and it made sense and from my limited perspective it mimicked many of my beliefs, however the on and on about 1 person in each chapter and all the spirits and people weighing in on the topic in relation to the person was a bit much for me. I think for me that it would have been less onerous if there were multiple stories and more of a breakup of people under each heading. The headings included topics as drug addiction, miscarriage, suicide, rape, etc. The purpose was to get to the reasons why these things happened in each person's life and what the soul needed to learn from those experiences. While reading a lot of things resonated for me and made a lot of sense. Some concepts I hadn't heard about before but hearing about them for the first time, many of them made some sort of sense to me. All in all, it was interesting but I think the book could either have been shorter or could have included more people's stories and how they fit into the topics. I will read the author's other book as this one didn't turn me off of never reading his books again. I hope that book will be more concise and to the point.
As with Rob’s other book, Your Soul’s Plan, as soon as I began to read, I immediately had the feeling that his words made complete sense. There was no doubt in my mind that the idea of a pre-birth plan was the answer to so many of my questions about life. I never believed, as I had always been taught, that God judges and punishes us after we die. And when people say, “if there is a God, why does he allow all the evil and suffering on earth,” I never looked at God that way. But until reading Rob’s two books, I didn’t understand why people’s lives played out the way they do. Knowing now that we each plan our lives, even those of great suffering and tragedy, in order to heal our souls makes perfect sense to me. And now I need to learn more about it! Thank you to Rob, his subjects and their guides, and the channels and mediums in these books for inspiring me to look deeper into myself and why I am here.
I really enjoyed this book. It solidified much of what I have already come to believe in terms of life planning and living multiple lives. I found that it helped explain some things I have pondered and wondered about. There are no definite answers. Each life plan is unique and has many possibilities as to how it can play out. I appreciate how our life plans are described as a series of probabilities; we still have free will. I have seen the author speak twice, and I found his presentations added value beyond the book; he isn't just doing the same presentation over and over again. I do plan to read his other books. I think these books would be most appreciated by those who hold open the possibility of our souls incarnating multiple times, growing and developing with each incarnation. If this isn't an idea the reader is relatively comfortable with, then these books may not sit well.
Brings meaning and healing in a beautiful, loving way
For anyone seeking meaning, both of their own challenges and suffering and those of others, loved ones, neighbours or even the world as a whole, this book offers even deeper insights (than Rob's first book) into the reasons they were planned and myriad ways of working through them to the truth of our magnificent beings. It also challenges us not to view suffering and illness (including mental illness) as such, but as the perfection of the plan of evolution and healing that we planned, with great courage and sense of service not only to our own souls but our soul family, humanity as a while and indeed All That Is - we are all one.
Thank you Rob and all the participants, both the physically incarnated and those in Spirit, for this important work. I feel even more inspired to pursue my own mission to extend my own healing and learning to others through my work.
In some ways this book was difficult to review, because it would depend on your beliefs systems and your views before you came across this book. If you are familiar with the topics raised and the writer, it would be easier to move judgement aside and view the bigger picture, through the messages the book puts across in the many difficult and challenging topics. Karma is a big theme in the book and pre-birth planning for certain experiences to balance your Karma, working with other souls in turn as a collective healing process. I have read many different views and beliefs systems in many books and for me it was interesting to see this perspective on spiritual growth. I felt some of the writing could have flowed a bit better in parts, and sometimes less is more to relay the important spiritual message the topics covered.
I read through chapter 4 before writing this review. I’m not sure if I can continue with this book. I agree with others that this is a victim blaming book. He reminds the reader over and over that when you know you chose this it’s so relieving and helpful. How is it helpful to know “your soul” chose evil situations for you to go through to learn lessons. What really made me question whether I can read the rest is when a “spirit guide” suggests to the “client” to take his wife to “John of God” for healing. After this book was written, the world found out that this “John of God” was caging women, raping them, and selling the children. This book was written in all “love and light” but it just seems like a book of gaslighting for abused and confused people. I like to challenge myself and finish books I don’t like, but this one might be pushing it.
My favorite book is "Your Soul's Plan" by Robert Schwartz. In that book, he explains pre-birth planning. He does an amazing job of balancing ideas about soul pre-birth plans vs an understanding that many are resistant to the idea. His ideas are an offering, and people are welcome to think about them and reject/accept them...Honestly, if you pick up this book before reading "Your Soul's Plan", I would recommend you put it down and read "Your Soul's Plan" first. I feel that "Your Soul's Gift" is perhaps a good read to read as a reminder of concepts in "Your Soul's Plan" and it also might be a good read if you specifically are dealing with one of the issues in the book (Miscarriage/Abortion, Caregiving, Pets, Abusive Relationships, etc). However, in many ways, "Your Soul's Gift" is repetitive of the ideas in "Your Soul's Plan" and doesn't offer many new insights.
