In 1964, Kate not only didn’t know the purpose of her life, she wasn't at all sure there really was one. She was always somebody's daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend. When she finally figured out that life could be—should be—more than fitting into someone else’s script, she was ready to throw the rule book away and build a life that fit her. Her journey of discovery introduces her to abilities and relationships she never imagined in her wildest dreams... including introducing her to her wildest dreams!
APHRODITE ON THE HALF SHELL KATE O’HARA Kate is a mom and a wife in 1964 where women’s roles were defined as housewives and the men ruled the roost. Kate’s husband Ed is a philandering alcoholic and Kate is struggling to get out from under. A chance conversation with an announcer on an FM classical station changes her humdrum life in ways she never imagined. Kate has written this story to show how women’s roles started to change in the 60’s and how one chance encounter can change one’s life and sometimes even good things lead to consequences. Kates change in personality and actions change her outlook and forces her to make decisions she might not have made under different circumstances. The novel is written with honesty. It is romantic yet analytical at the same time. I give it 5 stars for excellent writing and storytelling.
