Burning for Him

Rate this book
The romance Trident Security fans have begged for!

One night. One choice. And a passion too strong to ignore...

Jenn Mullins has been in love with Doug Henderson for years. The problem? After taking a bullet while protecting her, he believes her feelings are nothing more than hero-worship. With an eight-year age gap, he also thinks she's too young for him. Worse yet, he works for her overprotective godfather and uncles—who still call her “Baby-girl.”

When Jenn takes a chance and kisses Doug, he briefly gives in to the attraction he tries to deny… then runs.

Months later, heartbroken and determined to move on, she volunteers at a medical commune in Colombia for the summer, far away from the man she pines for. But fate has other plans. When Doug shows up unexpectedly, neither is prepared for an earthquake and the resulting chaos.

When they find themselves alone, safe in each other's arms, long-burning embers erupt into a raging inferno. But as dawn breaks, will outside forces extinguish the flames?

A heart-tugging slow-burn about forbidden love, second chances, and finding the courage to hold on.

This is the 13th book in this amazing series, and this is Jenn and Doug’s story.
Jenn has loved Doug for years, and they have danced around each other forever, so when an opportunity arises Jenn kisses him, which he responds to until he runs. Doug’s bosses are Jenn’s overprotective godfather and uncles. Jenn decides it is time to move on, and she volunteers at a medical commune in Columbia for the summer, but fate destines Doug to shop up, and just in time for a natural disaster to strike.
This is a well written slow burn, easy to read, action packed, emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, heartbreak, suspense, intrigue, humor, witty banter, romance, challenges, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and captivating page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Finally, Jenn's & Doug's Story!

It's been a few years since the release of book 12 in this series. It was definitely worth the wait!

I laughed, I cried, I rolled my eyes. It was touching. It was the story Jenn needed told. And Doug... you just want to smack him sometimes.

While the story is about Jenn and Doug and their connection, we do get to see some of our favorite characters/members of the team.

This is a stand-alone story in this book. But you will get so much more out of it if you've read the rest of the series.

Highly recommend!.

❤️‍🩹 Burning for Him - ARC Review ❤️‍🩹

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t even know where to start… except maybe with this: Being asked to read this story as an ARC was a true honor. I’m still emotional about it 😭 Because this isn’t just a book. This is THE book I’ve quietly (okay not so quietly) hoped for, for so long ! And @samanthacoleauthor NAILED IT

The Trident Security series is one of the first romance series I ever truly fell in love with. I still remember reading the early books and instantly feeling like I’d found something special 🥰 The characters, the bonds, the blend of steam, suspense, and soul, it just clicked for me. And since then? I’ve reread it at least once a year. And yet… somehow I’ve never posted about it?! That changes now!

These characters feel like old friends. So finally getting Jenn’s story? Felt personal. Like watching the baby sister grow into this fierce, passionate, fearless woman, and finally step into her own story. Jenn has always been there, in the background of every book. The sweet girl with fire in her heart and steel in her spine. And in this book, she shines. She’s done waiting. She’s ready to claim her life and the man she’s loved for years.

Doug. That broody, loyal man. The way he’s loved Jenn from a distance, holding himself back out of guilt, fear, loyalty to her family… oof. Watching him finally give in? Watching him realize? It’s everything. The build-up, the tension, the chemistry, every single moment felt earned. And when they finally come together? I melted !🫠

This book had me laughing, crying, and grinning like a fool. And that ring scene? I’m never recovering 😭

This story wasn’t just “worth the wait.” It needed time just like Jenn and Doug. They had to grow into it. And now that it’s here? It’s absolutely perfect🩷

Also, the cameos? The family chaos? The reunion vibes?? My heart was SO full. It felt like being surrounded by old friends again and reminded me exactly why I fell in love with this world in the first place.

Absolutely perfection!!!!

This story has been an anticipated read for many years, from early in the Trident series, Jennifer Mullins played a role. She’s been the baby girl all men looked after. Now she’s an adult, and ready to take on the world. But a group of alpha Doms make that much more difficult.

As Jenn’s heart continues to hurt over her feelings for Doug Henderson, she takes control and heads off to volunteer at a medical commune in Columbia. Hoping that that time away will clear the for a future. Except the man who makes her heart flutter while destroying her at the same shows up, at the commune. The chemistry for Jenn and Doug has always been HOT so when they find themselves in the middle of an earthquake, & away from the commune their passion ignites into a night of perfection. But when dawn comes, the reality of each others' feelings, become too big to ignore!

Returning home injured was strike 1, discovering Jenn and Doug have been seeing each other in secret, strike 2. Coming clean to the sexy six pack, it should have been strike 3, instead it is Jenn and the Trident women come down hard on the “uncles”. Jenn goes ballistic, I literally was holding the cheering signs for her… Her life and her future are exactly how she wants, with Doug.

Sweet little Jenn becomes a woman on a mission with the man of her dreams. No one will get in her way!

This story was action-packed, but also really sweet. Jenn has liked Doug for a few years but he has been resistant, claiming the age gap was too much (8 years), and when she was younger I would have agreed with him completely, but now she is 23 she's no longer a young girl.

Doug also has to navigate some very overprotective uncles who are struggling with the fact that Jenn has grown up. The couple seem really well suited, and things certainly heat up when they get together.

There is no suspenseful storyline, just two people in a dangerous situation that admit their feeling for each other.

This book is a standalone but is book 13 of a series. It felt like every single character from the whole series was mentioned in some way, along with a short bio of who they were. For someone who hasn't read any of the other books, it was way too many names to be dropped in and it did make me feel overwhelmed with not really knowing who everyone was and how they were connected. There is a list of names at the end of the book, but there were just too many to take it all in. Because of this, I would recommend reading the series from the beginning.

There is an author note at the beginning, explaining why this book would not be part of the BDSM lifestyle like all the others in the series.

Burning for Him - Samantha Cole

This one was such a great read! I personally binged it in one sitting and that spice was totally perfect! Jenn and Doug’s journey is a long one but so worth every bit of it. That natural disaster had me on the edge of my seat for a minute and totally some tears in my eyes by the end. Doug though is gonna have to face up to telling Jenn Uncle’s when it comes to their relationship and they aren’t gonna take it well. But Jenn is not going to let anything happen. Now without giving away to much because you truly need to experience it yourself. I totally recommend adding this one to your tbr.

Doug and Jenn FINALLY

We have waited for YEARS for Baby-girl to get her HEA. When she met Doug, we thought, finally. Someone worthy of her. But he had to be stubborn. So we waited even more years.

This was the sweetest, least dramatic story of this series. And it is perfect. Jenn and Doug are not in the lifestyle. But they are integral members of the Trident family. We have watched Jenn grow up. We know what she has been through. Her story didn’t need another kidnapping, shooting, bombing, or terrorist. She just needed Doug.

Ok, so there is one natural disaster. But not nearly as much drama as the rest of the Trident family has been through. The most dangerous part was when the Uncles confronted Doug about his relationship with Jenn. And in true Ian Sawyer fashion, Doug eventually won his way onto the twat roster.

This was a joy to read. With all the snark we expect from the Trident crew. And all the love, care, and devotion. It was the perfect soft ending for our Baby-girl who is now our Jenn. IYKYK.

20/10 recommend this one! Get it now, and be prepared to read it straight through!

OMG this book was worth the wait. I absolutely love the women Jenn grew up to be. I couldn’t put this book down. If you been following the Trident guys you know Baby girl is their world. After losing her parents Ian and the other Sexy Six became her family. When she grows up and wants to spread her wings Uncle Ian wants her to stay Baby girl forever. Doug and Jenn have always had feelings for one another but Doug had it in his head that she was too young for him and she had hero worship. Jenn not only had to stand her ground to Doug but to her stubborn as a mule uncles. This book made me feel like I was in the book too watching it all play out. I can just see how Ian acted, I can see how Jenn and her Tribe stood their ground. Thank you Samantha for writing such a heartfelt story. I already can’t wait for what more will come from Jenn and Doug.

The Trident crew holds a special place in my heart. I have been reading this series since 2015. This is not the first book I have waited for, and it has always been worth the wait. Trusting the process has not always been easy. If Jenn and Doug needed to wait, then so could I.

In true Trident fashion, there is plenty of action with our love story. Doug facing her overprotective “uncles” , and the age thing, why we had to wait. He can be a stubborn and infuriating man at times.

The cameos of all our favorites from the series, the family, made me fall right back into why I have loved reading and re-reading this series.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Love this story of Jenn and Doug. These two have been dancing around each other forever. Jenn made the first real move, and although Doug initially kissed her back, he soon was declaring this a mistake. Jenn was a take charge kind of girl, so she took an opportunity to volunteer in Colombia, to the dismay of her "Uncles". Doug wasn't too happy either, but thought he had some very good reasons to dissuade Jenn. But when he had to travel to her and disaster strikes, all those reasons go out the window. Once they both admit their feelings all bets are off. Until Ian and the uncles find out. Thankfully Jenn puts down her foot about the Baby-girl moniker as well as them poking their noses in her love life. HEA for our cute couple.

As always Samantha Cole has delivered! The long awaited Jenn and Doug’s story was well worth the time needed for the characters to grow up and develop, and it was epic to read their HEA.

While the book absolutely can be read as a stand alone, I’d recommend reading all of the other Trident Security books in order first as we do meet these characters right from the very beginning in chapter 1 of Leather and Lace (book 1). It was so fun to read the little updates and dialogue between the main characters in this story, and the characters that have taken centre stage in the other books in the series (and its spin offs).

Everything was perfect, down to the title of this slow burn romance that grows into a hot heat inferno!

Doug and Jenn in Burning for Him was well worth the wait. It was exactly what I expect from a Samantha Cole novel. There was plenty of action, suspense, romance/spice, plus all the catching up with the precious characters. I highly recommend starting this series at the beginning because you see how these two have gravitated towards each other, and all the push and pull that comes with it. I cannot recommend this author and this series or this book enough!.

A long awaited story......

Myself and others have been awaiting Jenn's story since she was first introduced as a young woman who was growing into herself after dealing with tragedy. This story did NOT disappoint. We get to see Jenn, the woman reaching out for what she knows she wants in life. (She's all grown to all her "uncles" dismay.) From tears to laugh out loud funny (strange looks from my pup), this is the story we've all been waiting for.

When Samantha said she was writing Jenn and Doug’s book, I was so excited! I thought hopefully it lives up to the expectations I’ve built up in my head. Let me tell you, it flew past those expectations! I didn’t think anyone would ever surpass Jake and Nick as my favorite couple but Doug and Jenn did just that. Jenn is such a strong woman without being too much and Doug is an alpha male done right, not an alpha-hole in sight. I just felt every emotion in this story and it was so worth the wait and wonderfully written.

Definitely worth the wait!!

We have waited a long time for Jenn and Doug's story, and it was so worth it!! Jenn has been in live with Doug forever. Doug always kept her at a distance for many reasons, including her age. Now when they are facing danger again together, they give into the attraction. I love these two together. I love this book and whole series. I highly recommend! I wish this series would continue forever!

Jumping into this book in the middle of the series was a little difficult so I definitely think reading it in the recommended reading order is a must. However, at the end of the book I did find more info on the different people and backgrounds that would have been helpful to have at the beginning of the book
With that said, while I enjoyed the characters and the story line, I wish there was a little more conflict. The story just felt a little too easy.

As one of the most anticipated books in the Trident Security Series, Samantha healed my heart with Burning for Him. Jenn and Doug's story was absolute perfection and delivered what we all know "Baby-girl" deserved. Jenn isn't the baby anymore, and she sure let her uncles know that! Burning for Him was 100% worth the wait!

Good things need patience, doesn’t ring more true than Jenn & Dougs Story. Typical male they think they know better. First Doug than the uncles. Finally Jenn shows them all in more ways than one. Fighting tooth and Nails for what she wants. Love reading and laughing with a bit on sadness through her story.
