DD Lorenzo writes beautiful dread. Blending psychological suspense, magical realism, and lyrical prose, she creates novels that explore memory, identity, grief, obsession, and the quiet transformations that reshape a life. Her stories don't ask what monsters wait in the shadows. They ask what waits within us when the lights go out. They invite readers to cross thresholds where beauty and darkness coexist, where every unanswered question carries a cost, and where the greatest mysteries are found not in haunted places, but within the human soul. Her fiction lingers in the quiet spaces between certainty and wonder, drawing readers into atmospheric worlds where the impossible feels inevitable and transformation is never without consequence. Every novel is an invitation into beautiful dread, where the story follows you long after you've turned the final page. Born and raised in Maryland, DD now writes full-time from the Delaware shore, where moonlit tides, forgotten histories, and the rhythm of the Atlantic continue to inspire the worlds she creates. She believes every story is an invitation. The only question is whether you're willing to open the door.
*I received this book from the author and Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for my honest opinion.
Well, well, well...to say that I was nervous picking this up would be putting it lightly. After reading the first two (having some doubts), I'm truly happy to report that of the 3 books I've read thus far in this series, this one I truly enjoyed!!!
Where the first two books revolved around Declan and Aria, this book focuses on Declan's brother, Carter and Declan's co-model bestie, Aimee.
After losing his wife in a horribly tragic incident (read the first book), Carter is finally ready to pick up some pieces. Mainly the pieces he thought he lost when he lost his wife. Finally excepting that he can still love her but move on with his life, he decides to move back to his home town and start a new security business. And while there, he learned that it's ok to expect the least expected.
Now that Marisol is locked up, all of her modeling contracts were assigned to Aimee. She's been extremely busy filling those contracts and is now looking forward to a vacation away from New York and all of the "modeling" world. She's also taken a page from Declan and decided to purchase a house, renovating it to meet her needs and quarks. But will the purchase of the home come back to bite her?
As I mentioned before, I actually enjoyed this one way more than the previous two in this series. Carter and Aimee were very likeable and the "villain" didn't have a huge part in the character development and "likeability" (although there was a huge scene that impacted the story). I found myself drawn to Carter and his healing as well as Aimee's loving nature. But let's get real...I'm pretty sure that dog Cody stole the show. At least she did for me. Good girl!!!
I have read all the books in DD Lorenzo's The Depth of Emotion series...and I have to say, Here/Now may be my favorite. AND I have good news, you CAN read it as a standalone; however, I'd recommend you begin with Positive/Negativity so you understand all of the characters.
What I love about Here/Now and other "series" stories is that it's like visiting old friends. I love the MAIN story and can appreciate the side stories too! DD's writing, her ability to make the reader feel emotion, and story telling ability gets better and better with each book.
If you're looking for a suspenseful romantic thriller that is not exactly like every other book out there. If you're looking for a book and a story with depth and DEEP EMOTIONS....this is it! One click Here/Now right away!!
I have read all three books in this series. IMO, this book could be read as a stand-alone, but it would make more sense after reading the first two. That way you know all of the characters. This is Carter and Aimie's story, and what a story it is! Carter is a widower. His wife was killed in a hit and run accident. Aimee is his friend that he met through his brother, Declan. When Aimee buys a house near his, things start off on the wrong foot. Months later, they begin their friendship again and love blossoms. When tragedy strikes again, can they survive it?
Here Now Depth Of Emotion #3 D D Lorenzo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What can I say about Here Now? I don’t think there are enough words, accolades, emotions or stars. The beginning of this series, Depth Of Emotion was absolutely amazing, and getting the 3rd instalment, Here Now was beyond words. I’m in love with the whole series and cannot wait for more.
For Carter Sinclair, losing his wife Lacey, was the ultimate lose. He Now exists, not living. Leaving his job as a police officer and opening his own security firm with best friends, Marc and Falcon has him returning to Deep Creek and his home he shared with his wife. When Aimee Vincent turns up on his doorstep, it isn’t a happy man that opens the door. He was pretty much the ultimate douchebag.
Aimee, took over the modelling contract left open by the MOST EVIL, Marisol Franzi, the woman accused of Lacey’s death and attempted murder of Aria Cole, Carter’s sister in law. With her life on track and having everything she could possibly want in the modelling world, what she really wants is a break. Some time for herself, and buying a home at Deep Creek is a perfect choice, having Carter close by is a bonus.
After their less than polite 1st meeting Carter works to win Aimee back, not an easy feat, but he worms his way into her life and heart. Spending time together, leads to a passionate relationship born from grief, but will live for strength and passion. As the unthinkable happens to Aimee, Carter’s world is once again thrown into hell. He’ll need all of his own strength and everything Aimee had to move on. Having his wife taken away was one thing he will not allow, Aimee to be taken away as well. It is not until a threat of losing Aimee is threatened, does he realise he loves her, if it’s not to late!!!!
While I don’t want to even want to mention the evil Queen B, but she is pertinent to the story. Marisol really was born of the devil, add her ruthless nasty husband Manuel (Manny), these 2 will once again play a huge but devastating role in this story. As her jail/ hospitalisation is told it is evident Manny will never allow her stay there. He’s perfect for her, they are both awful, evil people whom I cannot despise enough.
This story is told by Carter, Aimee, Manny and Marisol. Don’t let it get to you, every character whether you hate or love them put the story together perfectly. Praise to DD for yet another amazing story. Now I can’t wait for the next instalment.
I think this is my favorite book from this series! Even though it can be read as a standalone I always love going into a book where I've already been introduced to the characters. Part of the reason I love this authors work is that even though its romantic suspense, she has her own unique twist on the genre. I thoroughly love the journey she always takes me on, Carter and Aimee's story is no different. There's love, loss, healing and suspense. I mean that's the perfect four course line up for a great read. I don't want to give anything away, but trust me, this is a one click book from a go to author.
I'll have to start out by saying this: While reading the first two in the series, I immediately grew to dislike Marisol very much, and then Lorenzo gives us her husband Manny. I don't think I recall any particular book that made me dislike characters as much as I do with Marisol and Manny. Lorenzo writes villains better than anyone I know!
Carter Sinclair's story was everything I had hoped for and more! When first meeting Carter as a secondary character, I knew he needed a story and DD Lorenzo delivered! The Depth of Emotion series has grown with each book and it only gets better. Carter and Aimee's story is one that will have you cheering, screaming, and falling in love with them in the end. A perfect story for two characters than needed or more so deserved an HEA
This is an intense story from the start and follows on from the two previous books. Carter is still coping with moving on with his life after his wife's death and going to help his brother and sister-in-law, he returns to the home he shared with his wife and finds the memories and grief hard to deal with at first. An unexpected visit from someone he met and friended while at his brothers has him feeling very mixed emotions. While most of this book is spent dealing with pretty heavy and emotional issues I didn't find it oppressive, deep yes, even a small bit disturbing in a few places (Due to events) but it is all part of the plot-line. PTSD is just one of the issues covered. A symptom left after a savage attack has both characters trying to find ways of not just dealing but ways to minimise how bad the panic is.
There are some really cute and romantic times which do help to lighten what could possibly a very dark and deep story otherwise, so I found those moments a brilliant way to ease the tension. I mainly found this story to be an inspiration of hope and second chance at life and love. I wish my own life hadn't got in the way of me shutting it out so I could completely lose myself in my reading of this gripping book, which from my point of view is a bit sad and meant I didn't do full justice to getting completely enveloped in the story. I wanted to close myself away, shut out any intrusions and just soak it all up, concentrate on the words because I felt they deserved that level of my involvement, to feel all the emotions and the ups and downs of these characters. I did manage to do so in between work and other life tasks getting in the way, which I am pleased about as it contained all the elements I love in a fantastic story. I do advise reading the first two books as they are all a part of the bigger picture on the main story, they give you background for all the turmoil and allow you to get the full benefit of the overall plot that follows through all of them.
You never know how strong you are until tragedy strikes. Just when Aimee and Carter move from being friends to being lovers, they are involved in a horrific attack which tests just how much two broken people can overcome. But is the deck stacked against them when the woman who killed his wife is still in the picture? I absolutely loved this book. The characters were so well developed that the reader can feel every emotion on the page and the storyline had me crying, laughing as well as swearing at my kindle. This book had it all.
Book 3 in the Depth of Emotion series. This book is very much a spin-off from books 1 & 2 and in my opinion it could be read as a standalone. I would however recommend the previous books in the series as this will give you a true and clear understanding of the back story that has led to Here/Now.
This is Carter Sinclair's journey of recovery following the murder of his wife and childhood sweetheart Lacey. Having rushed to the aid of his injured brother very soon after her death, Carter has never had time to truly grieve and accept his loss. Having decided to return home to the house and life he had with Lacey, he begins the path of mending his heart and making plans for his future. When a new neighbour turns up, she changes his direction, leading him toward the light at the end of the tunnel, attempting to save him from the darkness that he is drowning him... Or will he ultimately be the one doing the saving?
Aimee is a sought after Supermodel, but she is also a child of the system. Having grown up with no family, she was thrust into the limelight at a young age after being "Discovered". Her friend and fellow model Declan Sinclair became her best friend and the older brother she never had. Having spent time with Declan, she has become acquainted with his brother Carter. So when after a particularly busy time in front of the camera, Aimee decides its time to settle down and find a base for herself. Having visited with Declan, she chooses the beautiful lakeside town that Carter calls home. Finding a dilapidated house boat in need of some TLC, she takes the plunge, moving and finally having a place of her own to call home. Carter however isn't pleased to see the girl that he assumes to be another pampered princess. He doesn't need or want the calm that she seems to evoke in him. Can Aimee forge a friendship with a man so determined to wallow in the life he now finds himself in?
And throughout all of this, Lacey's killer, Marisol Franzi, remains Locked up in a secure facility... Plotting her release and the demise of all those that have taken everything from her.
This is a seriously good book. The first half of this book is good and you envision the way the story will play out. DO NOT BE FOOLED! By 50% believe me when I say, you will not be able to put it down. The direction of the book changes, it becomes fast paced and seriously brilliant. The drama and suspense that D.D has created makes this a complete departure from the previous reads and man, it blindsided me big time!!
The quality of writing as with the previous books is superb. D.D's talent really is the descriptive and beautifully formatted flow that she writes with. I have to say though that she has a hidden dark side to her and she unleashes it in Here/Now. I enjoyed both of the previous books but in my opinion D.D has gone full throttle with this book. The most exciting thing is that I know that the darkness she has added to her storytelling will continue into the book she has planned to complete this series and I for one cannot wait!!
Well done on a blinder of a book D.D, I loved it. A brilliant edition to the depth of Emotion series and an absolute MUST READ for lovers of romance with emotion, suspense, high drama delivered under a veil of darkness.
Here/Now is book #3 in The Depth of Emotion Series. I was gifted a copy of the book by DD direct in exchange for an honest review so here goes…
I read the first two books in the series and although I wasn’t a fan of the first book I thoroughly enjoyed the second book and the demise of Marisol.
Book #3 is about Carter but personally I felt his story was overshadowed by Marisol’s reappearance.
We’re led to believe that Marisol is an insane sociopath who will spend the rest of her life paying for her actions against Aria and Lacey but then enter stage left Manny her drug cartel husband and this story then heads in a completely different direction.
Manny and Marisol are playing a game that only they seem to know the rules to. Manny is not a nice person and even though Marisol is mad as a box of frogs I found I almost felt sorry for her.
The problem I have is that I don’t want to feel sorry for her!!!
Marisol is a brilliant baddie as a reader we can hate her yet still think she is hilarious. Whenever I think of Marisol I think of a James Bond villain she was practically sitting in a spinning chair stroking a cat whilst laughing manically. And that’s what made her so brilliant!!!
So when Manny suggests that he will train her like her father tried to when she was a child it pulled on my heart strings a little. Perhaps this is a conscience thing? Do I feel bad if an evil person is given into the care of another evil person who may harm her?
What’s my answer well honestly I don’t know!!
Marisol thinks she is playing Manny to get what she wants. And it does seem to be working but I just feel like Manny already knows her end game and is two steps ahead of her.
For me Carter and Aimee are overshadowed by Manny and Marisol’s looming threat.
Carter and Aimee’s romance is quiet and slow moving but sweet and then for that awful thing to happen to Aimee was just heart breaking!!!
I missed the connection between Carter and Aimee; I definitely felt a bond of caring and friendship but ‘love?’ I’m not entirely sure.
Carter is possibly the nicest man alive and the way his grief for his wife was dealt with was very well done and poignant. His adoration of Aimee is obvious and makes him incredibly endearing.
This book left me asking sooooo many questions!!
Is there going to be a continuation of this story? Because there was no resolution and that bugs me lol!!
This book has left me a little confused and I’m not entirely sure how I feel about that!!
Here/now gets 3.75 stars it would have been 4 but my forehead wrinkling pensiveness makes it a 3.75.
I read some of the reviews that this could be read as a stand alone and I have to disagree. The first few of chapters were hard to understand because the author was talking about what happened in books 1 and 2. I wished the author would have gone into a little more detail so I could understand it as I was trying to figure out and understand different parts of the book.
With that being said, after the confusion wore off and we got to the heart of the book, I loved it. You have the main characters Carter and Aimee.
Carter is a man who has lost his way. His wife Lacey was killed in a car accident. He had been faking his "I am fine" routine for so long. He left his life to go take care of his brother who was injured. He went back home and was trying to deal with his life. Enter Aimee.
Aimee is a supermodel. She is "family" to Carter's brother and sister in law. She has a sass about her that I just loved. She never knew what having a family was until she met Declan and Aria. She never knew what home felt like until she fell in love with Cater.
One night after their first love making, Carter is a typical male and says all the wrong things. She storms out, gets attacked and Carter's dog Cody is almost killed trying to save Aimee.
Another part of this story is Marisol and Manny. Marisol is in the mental hospital. She is charged with many crimes and she feels the need to get revenge on those who have hurt her. Manny is her husband and king of the cartel business. He uses his money and power to take care of his Marisol and get her out of "misunderstandings". He uses his power to start taking revenge on those who harmed his precious wife Marisol.
This is a good book and a must read but please make sure you have read the first two so you are not lost like I was.
Just like books 1 and 2, I found this book gripping. There was so much emotion, it came crashing down on the characters, time and again. I really felt I was part of that emotion. The tragic moments and the lovely moments, all wrapped up together and sent through the pages, into my heart.
It was hard not to love this book, with the writing style, so full-on. You were given so much detail that you knew the characters, intimately, as if they were your best mates.
I found the pace of this book to be great. It was rather swift, but at the same time a lot of the activities/actions happening took place over sections of the story, so that the swiftness played into it. I didn't feel, at any time, that the story was too slow or fast paced.
I liked the characters. They carried on well, throughout the three books. They haven't changed, as far as their core character. However, due to the nature of the book, there was a change in character throughout, but they were to be expected.
I really enjoyed the moments of passion and love. You could tell that the two had a real connection, and I felt that D.D. Lorenzo really expressed this in the writing.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was captivating and really drew me in, in a way that I couldn't put the book down. I think the writing and the style of the books gets better and better, with each instalment. This was my favourite book of the three. I loved the whole premise, the characters and the culmination. This series really is a great read!
5+++++++ Royal Stars!! OMG.. D.D.!!! you knocked it out of the park with this 3rd book!! I love that it is a stand alone/spinoff book from the first 2 books!! I want to re-read this I love it so much!!!!
This story plunges you into the darkness that has become Carter Sinclaire's life after the murder of his Wife... How can you return to having a beating heart when your heart was ripped out of your body?? How can you overcome a broken heart full of rage and hurt?
Aimee is a family friend, a beautiful soul, and a breath of fresh air that not only has suffered her own heartache, and is trying to find the other half of her heart... she also suffers at the hand of the same witch that destroyed Carter's world...
DD literally scared me at the incredible shocking scene in this book... I literally gasped and lost my sense of time and forgot my instinct to breathe!!!
This spin off story is so intrinsic... so incredible with twists and turns that you literally could not have guessed...while still dealing with a very real story of mending a broken heart. It is a must read, and on my shelf of fave all time reads!!

This is the third instalment in the Depth of Emotion Series. I fell in love with Aimee and Carter each with their own problems. Poor Carter is trying to recover and move on from the death of his beloved wife Lacy and Aimee had a rough childhood in the system. I was egging on their fledgling relationship when tragedy struck again. Not wanting to give too much away it's safe to say this kept me hooked until the end and I can't wait for the next instalment. Another beautiful bittersweet love story where I was reacquainted with favourite characters from the first two books, Declan and Aria. And the hateful spoilt individual Marisol who we now discover is married to an equally evil husband Manny....the two I love to hate! Looking forward to book 4 DD Lorenzo. Great job ❤
*An ARC copy was provided in exchange for an honest review*
I'm glad this read works as a standalone because I haven't read the 2 books previous to this one. However, I now definitely must read them because I want to know more!! The other stories that tie into this one & this read was just so edge of your seat good, that I am beyond I trudged on the last 2 that came before it.
Soooo... I caught myself holding my breathe at a point in this book and when I find myself reacting this way to a book I freakin love it! It's not every day that you get to read a book that completely sucks you into its world and makes you see it so clearly that you envision yourself there as the person or as a quiet observer in a scene.
Here/Now is absolutely brilliant!!! D.D. Lorenzo takes her readers on an emotional journey right along with her characters. Carter Sinclair lost his wife in a tragic accident and has been trying to he wants to be and not the man everyone thinks he should be. Then the lovely Aimee Vincent comes into his life and takes root in his heart by loving the man he is by embracing the darkness that lives within him. Together they navigate through the darkest events humanity has to offer and try to bring each other into the light. I can't wait to see what D.D. has in store for the next book on the series.
I loved reading this book. It’s a book of combined loss, regaining love, some mob-related scenes, an evil conniving person, some great friends, a beautiful woman and my new book boyfriend, Carter. It has a real sad part that brought tears to my eyes. But there’s a good man that comes to the rescue. You’ll find some surreal things happening in this book. I would definitely recommend this book! Thanks for the great read DD Lorenzo.
D.D. Lorenzo did it again! Just when I thought the first two books couldn't be beat. I couldn't put the book down! Read it in one weekend! It is romantic, suspenseful, thrilling ... I could go on and on. Talk about Depth of Emotion -- D.D. always touches on subjects that are really important in everyday life -- panic attacks, death, grief, being yourself -- she hits it all! Can't wait for the next book! This one gets 5 stars!!!!!
WOW! This book is amazing! I was on pins and needles reading this book. I loved Carter in the previous books and the way he took care of his brother. Aimee had a crush on Carter but knew he needed time to grieve. This book is full of action and emotions. The suspense of what did happen and what may happen is amazing. I love this series and I can’t wait for the next book!

Remember Declan’s brother Carter? This is his story, and the story of his relationship with Aimee (we also meet her in previous books). Tragically widowed really young, Carter finally feels able to move on, and does so by going back to his home town and opening a security business. With Marisol in jail, Aimee is taking her modeling contracts – and just like that, Marisol is back in the reader’s mind. Although they get off on the wrong foot, Carter and Aimee fall in love – and tragedy strikes. With one of the most beautiful endings I’ve read recently, this book is less traumatic than No Perfect Man and No Perfect Time, but it is still gripping and insightful. And, at times, nightmare-inducing. How low will Marisol stoop?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book three in the Imperfection series and we focus on a new couple. This one can be read as a standalone but there are previous relationships that the reader is exposed to in the previous books in the series. This book is about Carter and Aimee. Carter is a successful CEO that is a recent widow, he has given up on finding love again and focused on work. Aimee is a woman that has made a successful entrance into the fashion world and no longer has to worry about monies. She is a friends with Carter's brother and decides to pop by for a visit. Nothing like an impromptu visit to start a chain of events and begin a new story. Don't forget about Marisol, she is present and active in this book too. What a great read.....anxiously ready to start the next one in the series.

Wow-what an amazing ride - this is the 3rd book in the I perfection series. The story follows Carter and Aimee. Carter has just lost his wife to a hit and run. He is grieving and struggling. Aimee Enters his life and starts to bring some colour back k to his life. Then the unthinkable happens! Aimee is viciously attacked and she wonders if she will ever be whole again. The emotion is intense. The suspense, the grit of it, it’s dark but such a page turner. I recommend that you read the books in order.

I loved this story. It is the kind that you can identify with the characters and immerse yourself in the story. Very well written and characters to win the heart make this book a must read.

Anonther rollercoaster of emotions from this book. This is the 3rd book in the series and it is nothing less than the other 2. It has romance, suspense, some violence a dark edge, humor, love a laugh and a cry. What do you want more. The characters are wonderful, I can't stop reading. I must know what is going on in the 4th book go grab this book
Carter and Aimee will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Each of them has experienced heartache but their friendship and compassion evolve into a beautiful story of recovery and second chances. I loved Aimee and Carter and the bond they form. For as much as you will love them, you will love to hate Marisol and Manny and her vengefulness. Looking forward to the next book from DD.
D.D. Lorenzo is an amazing storyteller. Here/Now, book #3 in The Depth of Emotion series is yet another great read and story!
This centers on Carter and Aimee. Carter is Declan's brother, who became close to Dec''s friends while caring for his brother after he was shit by the car. He is also recovering from the loss of his wife, Lacey, who was killed by Marisol (one evil messed up bitch). Aimee, is a girl next door knock out who grew up alone in the foster system.
The story starts with Marisol in the looney bin, Declan taking care of Aria as she tries to recoup from her deals with Marisol and Aimee is taking the modeling world by storm as the fresh new IT girl, replacing Marisol, who is conniving with her "husband", Manny, a cartel leader.
Aimee buys a boat/house on the lake near Carter, she has a teeny tiny crush on his but knows he is still mourning the murder of his wife. Carter has been distant after returning home. But together they start to grow closer that is until Aimee is attacked in the dark and SEVERELY injured. Carter has 'failed' to protect what is his again, in his mind.
This story is gripping, fast paced, the romance is building and hot. I love DD Lorenzo's writing, stories and books as a whole!
