What a fantastic debut novel! I am seriously blown away!
Relinquish follows the story of Phoenix and King. King is a model. The “IT” man. King is cocky, so full of himself. So, when he meets Phoenix, she knocks his world off it’s axis. King is used to people always wanting something from him. He will quickly realize that Phoenix is unlike any women he has ever met. She’s feisty, she tempts and challenges him. She is just everything…..Everyday for Phoenix is a painful reminder of the life that she used to have. She is no stranger to tragedy. She tries her hardest to remain tough, strong. Just living one day at a time. Meeting King changes everything. He challenges her. He makes her feel things, come alive. Bringing out a glimmer of the women she used to be. The chemistry between the two of them is explosive and will have you turning the pages to find out how things will play out between the two of them. Their story, so captivating. You can’t help, but get lost in it.
I am still so surprised that this is the first novel for SE Dean. I mean, it is so well written and has great flow. The story-line is great. The characters are fun, especially the secondary ones. I would love to see more of Mav, Tatum and Cam. They were all amazing, supportive friends. I really hope that they will get their own books in the future.
Relinquish was a quick and easy read for me. It had just the right amount of angst, romance, steam, sexy times, and suspense. As well as a few twists that will leave you breathless, questioning everything. Seriously, it’s one of those forget everything that you think you know kinds of twists. The kind that will leave you confused, wondering what the heck is going on, just to blow your mind completely when given the answer. The twist. OMG! The twist. Did I see it coming? No, I did not! It is such a good one! I think I am still in shock. All I can say is bravo! Seriously, well done. Relinquish is the debut novel for SE Dean and I for one, can not wait to see where she will take us next!

This is SE Deans debut novel and oh my....what a story. Kingston James is THE male supermodel of his time but he seems somehow a bit lost at times. Pheonix Ryan is a bar owner who quite literally knocks him off his feet. The relationship that develops shows all the uncertainty and insecurity that people, even the beautiful people feel. The story is well rounded and the characters well formed with good back stories. There is a twist Nepal the end which had me wanting to punch the author...........the course of true love certainly doesn't run smooth for this couple. A hugely enjoyable read......no cliffhanger but I can't wait for more from this new author.

Ever since I've read the blurb, I've been super intrigued by this book. And not once did it disappoint.
We meet Kingston, the untouchable & hottest male supermodel & Phoenix, the bar owning heroine who isn't impressed with Kingston.
Their chemistry is off the charts hot, that man knows how to treat his 'Kitten'.
I loved the best friends. Tate. Mav. Cam. & all the brothers, ever Kieran, I found him fascinating & needed to know why he acts the way he does.
This story will have you on the edge of your seat, just when you think you're getting somewhere, be prepared, it will throw you for a loop.
Great debut book; hopefully we get books for all the brothers.
Look forward to your next book!!

Apparently I am in the minority. And I really HATE writing this review because normally I only write reviews when I absolutely love a book and sadly that was not the case with Relinquish. Just because I didn't love it doesn't mean I hated it either. I received an ARC for an honest review so here it goes.....
I just want to say that this was more than likely a case of "it's me, not you." I had a hard time connecting with the main characters. Their cut and run habits are ones I try to avoid. That's why I rated this 3.5 stars. So there's that.
Ok now that that's out of the way let's get to the good stuff. Regardless of how I felt about the story I felt it was really well written. For a debut novel the delivery was exceptional.
I actually did fall in love with a few secondary characters. Oh who am I kidding SE Dean made me a true bookwhore with Mav, Holt, Jagger and Cam. They were definitely worthy and I will be keeping an eye out for their stories. I am looking forward to reconnecting with these characters in the future.

Just remember who Kingston belongs to ladies! I claimed him like 6 months ago after reading this amazing story. SE Dean is pure genius in her writing of this book. You would never ever in a million years guess this was her first story.
Kingston is a male super model and is the most sought after in the business. Rightfully so I say, the man oozes charisma and sexiness.
He meets his match when he runs into Phoenix aka Nix....like literally almost runs her down.
I won't spoil this story but to tell you it is a must read!

I won this arc from the author and I'm very glad I had the luck of the draw. For a debut novel I'm impressed at how well it's written and how much I enjoyed it. King and Nix are perfect for each other and the banter between them is gold. Their chemistry is combustible and sexy as Hell. If you love a dirty talker with lots of hot sex, then this book is for you. I can't wait to read more from SE Dean....

I am still on emotional overload from reading this book. The sexual chemistry will seriously leave you breathless and your panties drenched. It's freaking HOT! The banter is hilarious, I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt with it. Man, it hurt so good though. The storyline was intriguing, I was glued to the pages and could not put this baby down! I was reading at work, in between homework, bathroom breaks and during phone conversations! Yes, I became that girl and I will own it! The characters were very well developed, pace was spot-on and it was jam-packed with suspense. However, it was a touch of too much inner dialogue at some points.
"She thinks she needs a knight to battle the past, her fire-breathing dragon, but a phoenix is unique and immortal--just as the Phoenix that stands before me. Her beauty burns bright and vibrant."
I still cannot believe this is a debut, I liked her writing style and I absolutely adore these characters. It was so much fun to read, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a good time, a sexy p**ck with a dirty mouth and writing that will reach out and smack you in the face with feelings. King is all ego and smart ass all the time. I love it and I absolutely love these two together. They are so hot and cold and oh-so-right you can't help but fall head over heels for them. As much fun as this story is, it is one hell of a roller coaster of emotions. There's a major twist, I am talking the mother of all twists that p**sed me off for about ten seconds, but I still finished with a smile a mile long. These two are frustrating as hell. They will have you shaking your head as you laugh your ass off, then pulling your hair out in the same breath. You just keep going back for more and as you're tiptoeing around the edge, everything is pulled out from under you and it's an endless free fall. Don't worry you will be back on solid ground...sort of ;)

5 Crazy Ass Must Read Stars!!!!!
" Wow! Just, wow!" is what I kept saying while reading this. This was an amazing debut for S.E. Dean. This book was amazing. It flowed nicely and had a bit everything I look for in a book. The angst, the suspense, the steaminess, the romance and a great cast of characters. Holy moly, was that some twist that threw me for a loop! I thought I had it all figured out and then I was was gobsmacked with the turnout. I loved King and Nix's banter and their chemistry.
S.E. Dean's debut novel has put her smack dab into the middle of my "Favorite Authors" list. I can't wait to read more from her. It's time for me to switch to stalker mode now so I can make sure I don't miss any releases coming from Ms. Dean.

Dnf.. The main characters were so immature it felt like they was teenagers. Plus it seemed like there was an exclamation point at the end of every sentence it got on my nerves. Just not my type of story.

Overall Opinion: This was another 3 "just ok" read for me. I didn't feel the connection fully between our h and H though. They had sexual chemistry galore as well as sexual tension with their bantering, but I didn't get an emotional response from them. I didn't like that the H was with women after acknowledging that he "couldn't stop thinking about" the h (even though they were not experienced by the reader and just mentioned as a side note). It had a different twist at the end that I wasn't expecting, and because of the twist it'll make this hard to give a full review...
Storyline: This is Phoenix/Nix/Nikki and Kingston/King's story. They run into each other literally at the park and the sparks fly but so does the sass and attitude. They end up seeing each other again that morning at a coffee shop with more sparks, sass and attitude. They meet yet again that night at Phoenix's bar where yet again sparks, sass, and attitude fly. They start a kind of hostile flirting thing where they run hot and cold and don't seem to like each other much, but the chemistry between them is hard to ignore regardless. After several unexpected run-ins with the other, things heat up between them and stronger feelings start to develop. Without giving the twist away -- I'll just say they find their HFN at the end.
POV: This alternated between Phoenix and Kingston's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. No slow parts where I skimmed, and though I didn't really feel the emotional connection -- I wouldn't call this instalove.
H rating: 2 stars. I don't have many issues with manwhore types as long as they stop it after meeting the h, and he didn't. I also felt that his hot/cold thing with the h was mean at some points and I didn't like that.
h rating: 3 stars. She was just ok...
Sadness level: Low. There were some sad themes, but I didn't shed any tears here.
Heat level: Moderate/high. Definitely some steamy times.

I was given the honor of reading an ARC of Relinquish before its release and all I have to say is thank you, SE Dean for allowing me the pleasure of reading this wonderful story before its release. And now I am a firm believer that EVERYONE must read this book!! Relinquish...Blew Me Away. Relinquish is the story of Kingston "King" James, who is the TOP male model(supermodel in the words of Kingston). Kingston is as sexy as he is arrogant as he is dirty...and by dirty, I mean that filthy mouth of his!! YOWZA!! The man is HOT!! HOT!! HOT!! No, Relinquish is not your typical dirty talking, alpha male story...there is so much more to this story. Just went I thought I was reading one type of story, Relinquish became another story, offering me so much more than I was expecting. I was not prepared for the trip that this story took me on, but I am so thankful that I went on it. Relinquish is funny, it is emotional and it is heartwarming, with twists and turns that you will not see coming your way, but will be so happy that they did. I thoroughly enjoyed Kingston's journey.
SE Dean has a special gift for telling a story. The pace of the story was fantastic, and the characters in Relinquish were well developed and well written, including the secondary characters. Well... for a debut novel (which is something I learned after reading the book), I would have never guessed it. This book was written so well that I just assumed it was a seasoned author that I had not heard of. And this is just the FIRST book in a series of standalones.
I loved this book. This book grabbed me from the beginning and left me completed baffled by the end. This book was sweet, sexy, super angsty, and full of sexual tension that suffocating at times. This storyline was quite unique and has one mother fuc$er of a twist.
This is King and Nix's story. King is a highly sought out male model. He can get any woman with just a smile. When he meets the sexy but totally closed off Nix, he wants her but whenever she is around, he can't figure out if he wants to kiss or strangle her. One thing is sure, she has steel walls around her heart that are almost impenetrable.
Nix is a girl living day to day. She owns and runs a sexy and fun bar and has the best two friends you could ask for. She is closed off to relationships but when she meets King, no matter how much of a cocky douche he is, she still wants him. Sparks fly when he is around but letting down her walls may not be possible. Whatever the case, she is in for one hell of a ride.

I was rooting for these two even when it seemed impossible. And that twist... I am still a bit confused about it but in the end, I was happy with their happy ending.

I'm not sure how I am possibly going to describe just how much I loved this book!!
I loved Kingston so hard. He's at the top of his career as THE supermodel. The one everyone wants so of course he's going to be a cocky, sometimes an arrogant SOB and he knows it. He made me laugh so hard and I loved him from page one. Its really hard not to. He's an asshole, he doesn't care but he does have a hidden vulnerability to him and it gutted me at times and made me really love him. He had me laughing and the next moment he had me wanting to reach into the pages and hug him.
"What did they say about the Grinch? His heart grew?"
Phoenix is definitely one of my favourite female characters. There's just something about her. I honestly think she was the perfect match for Kingston, she had a fire within her, she's a survivor, she's brave and while she had a stubbornness to her because of insecurities but it was never over bearing I loved how she kept Kingston on his toes and made him work for it when needed.
I could go on and on but I don't want to ruin or spoil a single thing for anyone. All I can say about this is that it blew me completely away. Its phenomenal. I couldn't put it down. It has banter, friendships, emotion, sexy as hell moments and that oh my god moment. And you will not see it coming and it will blow your mind. And then when you finish you will be gasping for more by SE dean and realize this is her debut book and your mind will be blown again. I loved this more than I can put into words, I can't wait for everyone to read it and can't wait for what's next from SE Dean.

I loved Kingston so hard. He's at the top of his career as THE supermodel. The one everyone wants so of course he's going to be a cocky, sometimes an arrogant SOB and he knows it. He made me laugh so hard and I loved him from page one. Its really hard not to. He's an asshole, he doesn't care but he does have a hidden vulnerability to him and it gutted me at times and made me really love him. He had me laughing and the next moment he had me wanting to reach into the pages and hug him.

Phoenix is definitely one of my favourite female characters. There's just something about her. What can I say about Kingston and Phoenix, besides the fact that I love the names and symbolism behind? Hot! Hot! Hot! I won the opportunity to review an ARC for this debut author and I am so glad that I did. I read this book in less than a day! I could not put it down. The storyline is emotionally gripping and the chemistry between Kingston and Phoenix, did I mention HOT?? Both characters have been damaged by past experiences. One is hesitant to trust and the other wanting nothing more than to prove her strength and independence. The characters are well written including the secondary characters who I hope to see in upcoming books. They oftentimes lend a lightness and humor to the story and support the main characters perfectly. Now to get to the twist.. To be completely honest, at first I wanted to put down the book, however I also wanted to see where the author was taking us on this journey. I didn't regret. I ended up happy with the way everything turned out and it was something new which you don't often get to read anymore. Overall, I loved this book and can't wait to see what else this author has in store.

I love reading books by new authors because I have no exceptions going into the book. Reading a book from a new author is like getting a wrapped present, you don't know what's inside but you hope it's good. Relinquish is a very good present.
In the beginning Kingston come off as kind of a jerk. He's a sexy model and he can get any woman he wants. He doesn't do relationships but he doesn't have to he has woman falling at his feet. He comes from a big family and all his brother are pretty entertaining.
Phoenix is a bar owner. She has had a rough past. She keeps herself closed off and is barley living. Her friend Tatum and Mav are great and look out for her. Kingston is definitely not the type of guy she is looking for but when their paths cross a few time there are sparks.
There is a crazy twist towards the end of the book that had me questioning everything I read. Relinquish is an awesome read, you won't be disappointed.

This is S.E. Dean's debut novel and I have been not so patiently waiting to get my hands on this one!!! Well sweet shizzle sticks was I blown away by this book. It was just the perfect mixture of Hotness, suspense, great characters, and some twist and turns added in that literally would not allow me to put the book down!!!
Kingston and Phoenix oh my stars, their chemistry was off the charts!!! The banter back and forth was down right hilarious and just added to their relationship. I have never thought two people were more perfect for each other!!! But sometimes it isn't always that easy!
I loved every moment of this book. All of the characters, yes even the secondary added to the story, it was like reading a perfect storm, everything alligned and worked perfecly!!
I would 100% recommend this book to everyone!!! I am dying for more from this group of characters. S.E. is for sure a new author to watch for!!! I can't wait for more to come!

I'm not really good at writing reviews but I know what I like and I didn't like this book , I loved this book! SE Dean wow'd me from the first word, pulled and pushed me , not wanting to put it down. I was constantly wondering who was gonna give , what was going to happen . The characters were strongly written, the story was a step above the normal with a twist I never saw coming! I'm am certainly a fan for life . Kingston and Nix are one of my favorite couples. If I could say one thing that I'd want more of is more of what and how the situation after the twist unfolded how he convinced her and what she was thinking. But all in all I give his 4.75 shining debut stars for SE Dean! She has an amazing talent and all her characters have drop dead sexy names too

When I receive an ARC of this book for an honest review, I was shock, and bless, so I’m in!! This is the debut novel of this author and let me tell you this you don’t regretted anything. This story of one male model with insecurities and one amazing chic. They both “hate” each other’s but you know that is not true, their chemistry is perfect and I loved every second of this story and the characters too. This is very well written with some angst on it like I like it, and one of the best part is his alpha, dirty and filthy male Kingston you going to love it, like I do. I recommend this book to everyone because is worth it. I hope to get to know the whole family because I need more pleaseeeeeeee. Mucho love for u darling you deserved it!!!!

This book messed with my mind so much I had to ask for help to understand what I just read.
And that's in a good way.

Phoenix she's so strong and independent.
Kingston well talk about a dirty mouthed model he's Hot as well and the scenes that take place with these to were just out there.
Their banter was fun to see and their sex was Hot as hell.
The secondary characters were so likeable I'm hoping for their stories as well.
As for the story itself all I can tell you is READ this book you won't be sorry. I will have a book hangover for days to come.

This is a fantastic debut from SE Dean. Embrace it because this series is going to be one hell of a ride. The beautiful Kinsgston meets his match in the strong willed phoenix. The sparring between these two was combustible. The sex on fire. The back stories, supporting characters are well developed and I cannot wait to meet the rest of the James brothers. I loved the scenes where the guys are together the conversation flows, the banter, roasting it's all there. Phoenix is sassy she holds her own. She takes no crap. Kingston has to work to get the girl and oh my that dirty mouth! You won't be disappointed.

Holy cow this brilliant book has my mind in a spin. So many surprises which took my breath away. A great mixture of romance and suspense! I can't put into words the journey this book has taken my mind on, but what a wonderful journey it was. I didn't really know what to expect from this book as I hadn't heard of the author but now I will be first one clicking other books. So brilliant I would love to award it 10 stars but 5 will have to suffice. Brilliant book full of wonderful gritty characters who are also very alpha male and very hot too!! Wonderful!!

Wow! Just Wow! This book has rendered me speechless! I have been looking for a book that would grab my attention & this book did just that! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Most of the time you can usually guess what is going to happen in the story line, that is not the case in this book! BLOWN AWAY! I laughed. I cried. I cussed. I melted.

Halfway through this book, I was starting to hate the heroine, thought the book was predictable and already knew who the villain was. Then everything unraveled and I was completely blown away. This was a really great read overall and I can't wait for more by S.E. Dean!

4.5 “Easy is boring” stars
When it comes to reading, I appreciate authors who think outside the box and present readers with newer, fresher content. Relinquish exemplifies this. It’s not the paint-by-number, cookie-cutter result that we’ve come to expect from the new adult and contemporary romance genres.
That being said, I’m extremely thankful to author SE Dean for granting me an ARC of Relinquish. To put it mildly, this novel is a TRIP.
I should also say how ASTONISHED I was to learn that Relinquish is a debut novel. If I hadn’t read the fact for myself, I wouldn’t have known this well-written and polished page-turner was delivered by a newbie. :) I look forward to following your future endeavors, SE Dean!
Relinquish is narrated in alternating chapters by main characters King and Nix. Be warned that they don’t hold back in the sections they’re narrating. King’s, especially, convey every brutally honest thought that crosses his mind. Among my favorites are the parts where he knocks the stuff that desperate women do to make themselves look desirable: whining, biting one’s lip when not the right time or place, sucking on one’s own finger, etc. (Side note—I agreed with everything King communicated on the subject, and I think it’s stuff that women should actually hear!)
I’ll be the first to admit that neither MC is particularly likable—at least not at first. They’re both of the hard-to-get, even-harder-to-keep variety. While I did not see myself in either character, I didn’t need to in order for their dispositions to resonate with me. The main characters’ insecurities and resentments are fleshed out so well throughout the narrative that, while I didn’t identify with either on a personal level, I could still understand their points of view.
While I definitely felt the physical attraction between King and Nix, I liked even more the certainty I felt regarding their match (although I can’t say much to illustrate my point without revealing spoilers). I will say that the concept of “signs” and “destiny” plays into the novel, a theme I appreciate in my romantic fiction.
My own personal highlight reel when it comes to Relinquish: King’s deprecating sense of humor, the comical pop culture references (duck lips, Team Jacob, etc.), Mav as a secondary character, references to the subconscious mind, and—last but not least—reading about stuff that was new to me (i.e. satchel tapping & the apa).
Relinquish offers readers a cast of well-developed characters, a compelling story (not the same ole predictable drivel), sexual chemistry that’s bolstered by actual compatibility, and a TWIST that will have you thinking about the novel for days to come.

This debut novel by SE Dean had some hits and misses with this experienced reader. While I often have to remind myself the same story is often retold, I usually look for the unique delivery of these romantic plots.
I absolutely loved Phoenix Ryan. Her sassy attitude, broken soul, and fierce independence resonated deep. Her story is what kept me reading this book to the end. The description of her relationship with her dad and their connection was very touching. I wish more would have been included within the story. Her supportive friends had me on edge a little. I do wish more of Mav would have been included. He is a big teddy bear sweetheart that would have encouraged Phoenix in her life path. I felt Tate was a little too harsh. Her presence added to Phoenix's stress instead of being supportive and helping her be her old self.
A few ideas about Phoenix Ryan's storyline I was hoping to see included: 1. her love of music! I was hoping we would find out she decided to pursue this dream. I felt like this was a part of her story that was underdeveloped. Will we see more of this in the next book? 2. We knew she was struggling in life because of what had happened in her past. I was disappointed it took so long to find out about her parents. Some of the scenes between Mav and Tate didn't make sense, because the reader was left too much in the dark. I think if we knew more about the background, those confrontations would have been relevant. 3. Was it even true???? After the twist in the plot, do we really know Phoenix Ryan or not?
Kingston James is the male lead in this romance novel. He is the worst a$$hole I have met in a book. So did SE Dean do what she set out? I really disliked him, a lot!! He was so extreme in his behavior and I couldn't understand why Phoenix was so connected to him. But finally, he redeemed himself. Again, another part of the story line I was hoping would be introduced sooner in the book.
While it took me a while to really get into the book, I felt the last 40% was great. Kuddos to SE Dean for following her dream and sharing her baby with the reading community! I know it takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to be an author. Continue working on your craft and following your dreams.

Man oh man! What a great debut book. I'm not sure yet if I want to hug SE Dean for giving me Relinquish or smack her for waiting so long to write it!!
Kingston James AKA King is the top it model at the moment. He's been at the top for awhile now so he's used to getting what he wants. King doesn't do relationships. He's a prick and not afraid to tell you what he is thinking. But, his life wasn't always this way. His childhood was not easy. It's part of why he is the way he is.
Phoenix Ryan AKA Nikki, Nix or whatever you have the privilege of calling her lol. Phoenix owns and manages the bar her father opened and ran. He loved the bar. Now, Phoenix is taking care of it. And, trying her best to live her life in the now and to be happy. Not live in the past. She is lucky to have the close friends in her life.
When King and Phoenix meet it's instant fireworks. The attraction is instant and the chemistry is off the charts. But, they're both stubborn as hell. It's constant back and forth. One minute it's flirting and the next they're screaming and yelling. It's hysterical!!
They are trying to figure out what is going on in their head. Both are single and have been perfectly fine with it. Now, everywhere they go the other one is there. It's like fate is trying to tell them something. But, what.
This book was awesome. I could go on and on about this book. We got 2 strong leads. Both King and Phoenix have been through so much in their lives. Yet, they hide it from the people that are not in their inner circle. Phoenix has such awesome friends and look out for her. King has awesome friends as well as a huge family. The times I laughed the hardest was with King with his brother's. Even with all that they been through it didn't stop them from doing what they had to do.
Just when I thought I knew what was coming. Yea, right!! I felt like I had been smacked. Talk about being completely shocked. But, it was such an awesome twist and different from every other book that I read lately. I'm so glad I could read this and am SO looking forward to reading whatever SE Dean writes. I'm an instant fan!
