Ash and Eve were high school sweethearts who were very much in love. But fate intervened and they were torn apart when Ash got an opportunity of a lifetime to become part of an up-and-coming hard rock band called Oblivion.
He went away on tour and the band ultimately became very successful. Eve stayed back at college to make the most of her scholarship and complete her business studies degree. They tried to make their relationship work long-distance, but were unsuccessful, leaving them both devastated and heart broken. Neither of them ever got over each other.
Seven years later they have a surprise chance meeting, neither of them can deny the strong pull they still have towards each other and they can’t resist the sizzling chemistry that continues to exist between them. They decide to try and rekindle their relationship.
This is a story about the fun times that Ash and Eve have rediscovering each other, but it’s also about the struggles and challenges of them trying to merge two very different lifestyles. What obstacles will be thrown their way? and will they be able to make it work this time or will history repeat itself and tear them apart again?
Warning: This story is a rock star erotic romance. It contains hot rock stars, sizzling sexual encounters and language that you would expect from heavy rock musicians used to a life of sex, booze and rock and roll. This novel contains graphic love scenes and is strictly adult only. This novel is Part 1 of the 'Oblivion On Tour' Series. However, it can be read as a stand-alone and specifically follows Ash and Eve's story. Other books in the series follow the other band members and their quests for love.

This is the story of Eve and Ash, college sweetheats meeting after 7 years.
The blurb was quite promising and I coulnd't wait to read this story! Unfortunately my expectations were not met. The writing was ok. The book is written from Eve's POV and it felt a bit messy. There was lots of unnecessary drama and issues out of nowhere. The actual story was already said after 55% of the book and the rest was just turning in cycles for me. I understand that the author wanted to show the reality and the difficulties of being the girlfriend of a Rock Star but it didn't feel right to me.
Both of the heroes felt immature to me as Eve was constantly doubting everything and Ash was insecure every second that Eve was away from him. I think there was so much more to both of them and it was pity that I didn't get to see it.
The end of the book was nice and sweet and I was happy that there was a nice epilogue to it! Unfortunately it came a bit too late for me.
Sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll. It’s also second chance romance and lets you take a peek at a hard driving rock band. You get groupies, tour buses, penthouse parties and oh, yeah some pretty wild sex. Ash and Eve had a hot romance going in college and while Eve was getting a degree Ash had been picked up by a band and had the opportunity to go on tour with them for the summer. Ash and Eve had decided at that time they could make this work so they talked on the phone regularly and Eve was counting down the time that Ash would be back. That time never came because his band, Oblivion, was picked up to tour for an extended amount of time. Ash didn’t think it was fair to Eve to be gone from her that long and she should be enjoying her time in college so he broke up with her.
It took Eve years to get over Ash and he was always in the back of her mind wondering what if she had quit college and went out on tour with him. Would they be together anymore? After seven years they finally meet up again and Eve is wondering if Ash would even know who she was anymore. Oh yeah, he knew and he knew he wasn’t going to let her go again. Even though Ash was living the famous rock star life he never gave up on loving Eve and he was bound and determined that this time they would make this work. You follow Eve trying to adapt to being the girlfriend of a famous rock star dealing with the grueling tours and all the skanky groupies that couldn’t keep their hands off from Ash. Ash had a redeeming quality that he always shunned the female attention and made it known that he was with Eve and only Eve. Those two could really light up the sheets or the bathrooms or the discreet closets, etc…you get the idea.
Would Eve be accepted in to the world that Ash was a part of or would the rest of the band see her as their Yoko Ono? Was Eve able to handle seeing all of the women who seemed very familiar with Ash and was she able to look ahead and not back at the past seven years guarding her heart from Ash leaving her yet again? If you like rock romance you will like Heaven Sent because Ms. Sparks took you right into the rock star’s world. She also had you rooting for the lost love and hoping that Ash and Eve would be able to make it to a place that most fail to get to. This was my first time reading this author but I will definitely be reading the next installments of the bad rocker boys from Oblivion.

I really, really wanted to like this book. I loved the synopsis and the idea of the story. I am a huge sucker for rock star/ second chances romances. I think that it started off with a lot of promise, but quickly fell apart for me.
There is nothing I love more than a book that hits the ground running, but even this book was too fast paced for me. Ash & Eve have been apart for 7 years after Ash broke Eve's heart. However, when they are reunited, Ash & Eve pretty much jump right back into things. There was little to no groveling, proving of love or that Ash has really changed.
Also, I felt like the writing was really choppy. I found myself having to re-read certain passages, because it either didn't make sense or there was a word missing.
I really, really tried, but I just couldn't continue on with this story. Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me.
*I was provided with an ARC copy of this book, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*
I really wanted to enjoy this book; I mean come on who doesn't love a rock star romance???? Unfortunately, the book fell incredibly short and I ended up ending the book around 50% of the way through.
First, the beginning was incredibly fast for me. In about 5-7 pages they cover everything that happened in 7.5 years. I was so confused by the constant change in time frames that I had no clue if we were in the present when chapter one actually began. But, even after that I figured the book would improve.
You have a couple who are hopelessly in love, attending college together and spending every minute possible with one another. Everything is great until Ash receives the opportunity of a lifetime. He drops out of college to go on tour with a band for 6 months. During those 6 months, Ash and Eve maintain a long distance relationship until he is scheduled to return home when he announces the tour has been extended and he will be gone at least another year. Rather than ask if Eve wants to continue their relationship long distance, he decides to end things with her and "set her free."
The prologue makes a big deal when the 18 months are up, yet there is no mention of Ash or Eve reaching out to the one. I would have expected to read more about this given the focus on how long Ash would be gone for.
By chance Eve and Ash meet again and pretty much instantly fall back to where they were previously. There's no groveling or real apologies from Ash regarding his treatment of Eve or his behavior while he was on tour (constantly seen with a different woman in magazines, yet expects her to believe he was constantly thinking of her). I didn't feel like either of them truly addressed what happened when they were apart and why Ash made the decision he did (I didn't buy the simple excuse that was provided by the author).
I found both Eve and Ash to be incredibly immature. They're supposed to be roughly 25-26 years old but instead acted as if they were 18-19. This was difficult for me to relate to.
It became obvious in the reading that the author is not from the United States, which is fine except that she wrote characters that were. Wording and phrases were off which distracted from the story. I think the book contained many grammatical errors (overuse and inappropriate of exclamation marks for example) that should have been caught before publishing.

Really loved this book, gorgeous sexy rockstar and his band mates who are equally gorgeous. Ash dumped his high school sweetheart because he’s joined a rock band on the way up and doesn’t want her to miss out on her college experience pinning away waiting for him. The only problem is that for seven years neither one moves on. Yeah he’s banging groupies and she has a boyfriend but he thinks Angel and she thinks of Ash. So when they finally meet it’s so beautiful and he’s so sweet and romantic. I love how he’s so desperate to be with her, I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t wait to read book two. I recommend this book highly.
Review: I liked this story. It was interesting and layered with complexity. At the same time, it was simple and on a low simmer overall. The writing was a bit uneven, but the general storyline made up for any lack. The characters were engaging. Their unique personalities and interests certainly kept the story hopping.
About the Characters: - Oblivion -> Eye candy for all; cool guys who were like family - Eve -> Strong female lead with a confident voice; left broken-hearted by her soul mate, but still utterly and completely in love with him - Ash -> Good guy who tried to do right by Eve but got caught up in the rock & roll lifestyle; sexy as sin; knows what he wants - Trixie -> Solid bestie who would go to blows for her girl; totally into Nikki; can hold her own - Nikki -> Bad boy of the bunch with a heart of gold and fire; had great chemistry with Nikki - Scott & Lizzie -> Loved that they were trying to make their relationship work; opposites attract - Cody & Kittie -> I'm intrigued by their relationship; the story sounds like it will be amazing
Rating: 3+ to 4-/5 Recommend: Yes Audience: Adult/NewAdult Status: R, Contemporary Chemistry/Intensity: Yes Conflict/Drama: Yes Family Dysfunction: Yes Humor/Wit: Yes HEA: Yes Stand Alone: Yes Part of Series: Yes Re-read: Yes
Being a rock star isn't all that when you don't get to keep your soul mate. Ash and Angel AKA Eve were high school sweethearts. She knew he would make it big one day and was supportive of his career. Ash seen a different side of being in the public eye and broke it off with Angel so that she could have the life she deserved (finish college etc). I can understand to a point why he did what he did, but he suffered if not as much as she did while they were separated for seven years.
A chance encounter has them meeting again. Can they rekindle their relationship a second time or will the limelight still hurt their chance at being in a relationship? This story was really good and I can not wait to read the other books in this series cause I truly loved the storyline and the chemistry between Ash and Angel and I know that Trixie and Nikki as well as the other band members have a story of their own to tell.
Oblivion band if real would be a band to see on tour. I highly recommend this book to others who love reading about rock bands.
I enjoyed this book. But I do have an issue with it, why didn't Eve ask Ash "If you missed me so much and thought about me everyday, why didn't you come back, call, or text even one time during those 7 years?" This really bothers me- I get why Ash didn't come back while she was in college (he wanted her to finish and have that experience), but why not after???? He was never going to seek her out despite his claims of missing her and his never ending love for her, this whole love story is based on her running into him after 7 years.

Sparks did a great job. Reading about Ash and Angel(Eve) make me just smile. Ash is the perfect guy. He has his faults but owns them and wants nothing more than to take care of his Angel. Eve had a little harder time coming clean with some of her past but she finally does. Ash loves her and accepts her past like she does his. Beth did need to go the skank. Glad she got herself in trouble and the booted her. This was a great read. Highly recommended.
Eve and Ash have been long time friends and are high school sweethearts that have everything going for them. When Ash gets his dream "gig" and is hired as a guitar player for the group Oblivion, he soon realizes that he is going to have the rock and roll lifestyle and not be home much to spend time with Eve anymore. Ash breaks things off with Eve, only because he feels that it is not fair to Eve to make her wait on him while he is out touring. Ash does not want Eve to quit college either so he just decides to break things off with her. Eve is totally devastated and it takes her years to fully get over Ash, and even then she never really does.
Eve moves on several years after the break up. Eve goes through a period in her life where she is just all about one night stands and does not want any connections with anyone so she never sees the same person. After several years of this, Eve decides that she is better than what she has been doing and meets Richard that she settles down with. Richard in no way can replace Ash for Eve but she accepts that no one will. Eve works for a hotel chain organizing special events and filling in for managers when they are on vacation at different locations. Eve is working one night in a different location than where she lives and has to go calm down some rowdy guest and has a chance encounter with the band Oblivion. She never dreamed she would run into Ash while working.
When Ash catches a glimpse of Eve, he knows right away that it is his lost Angel, even after 7 years. Eve tries her hardest to not let Ash get to her but in the end he is persistent and she gives in and meets him after her shift. There are sparks again immediately and Ash just seems to pick up where they left off. Eve is love stricken again and falls head over heels for Ash again.
Even though Ash and Eve have been away from each other for years, it just feels right to them again. They reunite the old flames and get to know each other again. There are plenty of challenges that they both have to overcome after being apart for so many years as you can imagine, but they seem to be able to work through them all.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat wondering how it was going to end for these two. The band and everyone accepts Eve with no problems and I think that helps to make things work for them as well. This story has a HEA for these two and I was so glad that they were able to overcome all the obstacles that were thrown at them. I was rooting for them the whole time!! This book did have the language of rock and roll performers and what we think of them having when we think of rock bands.
I can't wait to see what becomes of the other couples in the next books in this series!!
As a reader who's obsessed with rockstar romances and read many of them, I feel as though I've become quite the connoisseur. As a series starter, and Ms. Sparks' debut, this story definitely entertains though there's no real surprises. What there is is a satisfying read, intense emotions, and an electrifying rockstar world that easily pulls you in and has you rooting for the protagonist's HEA.
Eve and Ash were once so close that it was thought that nothing could pull them apart. When Ash gets the opportunity of a lifetime to join up-and-coming rock band Oblivion though, their perfect romance ends as Ash doesn't want Eve to always be waiting for him. As Ash gains fame, Eve's left adrift in one-night stands until she settles for a man who makes her feel good, but nothing close to what Ash engendered in her. When a chance encounter has them picking up where they left off, it becomes a rocky road to HEA as outside forces conspire to keep hem apart. Through it all they fall back on the love that originally drew them together to deal with an ex who can't let things end, a manipulative manager, and other unexpected twists and turns. Along the way we see a couple easily picking up where they left off due to their sweet backstory. They're both strong-willed with a connection that crackles with energy and teems with sensuality and they had me rooting for them every step of the way as Fate makes it clear that they're meant to be together.
Ms. Sparks has crafted a fast-paced story with a sexy hero who tries to do what's right but ends up hurting the person he loves the most. He makes sure not to waste his second chance in a steamy battle to reclaim Eve's heart. Aiding Ash in bringing Eve wholeheartedly into this chaotic world are his equally sexy bandmates who accept her easily. The glimpses we get of these men are addicting and have left me wanting to see more of them. This is a vividly depicted world where the language of sex and partying are on display. It's a sexy world full of excitement and it propels the story at a quick yet satisfying pace to keep me fully invested in the reunited couple's journey to HEA. The only issues I had were the story's predictability, which made this JUST ANOTHER rockstar romance, and the clearly non-American vernacular which occasionally pulled me out of the story's pleasant flow. Ultimately, this is a series I look forward to reading more of as the remaining bandmates have me clamoring for their own stories to be told.
This was a DNF for me....I think that was a first. I tried. I really did. The characters weren't developed and I was ready to give up a few pages in but thought maybe it's just because it's going over the past and when we get to the present it will improve....wrong. It felt like it was just a chronological list of what was going on blow by blow. It felt like bad acting.
The main character, Eve, and her boyfriend, Ash, met their last day of high school and dated then and their first year of college. He was majoring in music and in a band. She was on a scholarship majoring in something else. His band was successful and he was noticed and asked to join a famous band and left to go on tour. She was heartbroken but couldn't possibly stand in the way of his dreams. They kept a long distance relationship for 6 months. Then he found out they were extending his tour for another year and he knew she was miserable and missing out on the whole college experience while she missed him so he broke up with her. ........She's brokenhearted for 18 months. Then later she meets this other guy Richard and falls in love. They date for 8 months and then when she thinks he's going to propose he breaks up with her just explaining that they need to take a month's break and then meet back up in San Francisco when she's there for her work. She's heartbroken for 2 weeks (by the way my paragraph is only slightly shorter than it takes to cover this in the book too). She decides it's over between them. Why else would he want a break.
She goes to San Francisco for work and has to deal with some noisy rock stars in the penthouse and surprise surprise, guess who it is? Ash and his band. Of course he still loves her and wants her back. He has missed her everyday even though he never reached out. She is instantly perfectly willing to take him back. All is good. Then Richard shows up. Eve is planning to talk with him and get closure for their relationship. But he has a date planned because yes that's what you do when you have taken a break and not spoken for a month. Eve goes along with it. Because she just agrees with everything. But it gets worse.....he takes her to Ash's small intimate concert he's doing that night. Richard got her VIP tickets because he knows she likes that band. Then it gets even worse....Eve thinks they are going back to the hotel and can finally talk, but no he's got tickets to the after party.....with Ash. Yeah that's where I gave up. Come on. Ridiculous.
Well, technically this is the first book of the series. But I read the third book first, so this is my second Oblivion book. Either way, these guys have grown on me.
In Heaven Sent, we follow Ash, the lead guitarist for Oblivion. His character actually surprised me because I was expecting him to be similar to Cody, the drummer from the third book. Cody is wild and unpredictable. Yet, I found Ash to be considerate and charming. Rooting for him came easy for me.
Eve was also a nice character to follow. She is still tormented by the loss of her relationship with Ash and pours herself into her work. She is in an eight-month relationship with a new man but finds herself feeling unattached and constantly reminiscing about her 'band boy.'
I thought the reunion was adorable. It is evident, immediately, that Ash hasn't fared any better than Eve has, in regards to moving on after their breakup. It was heartwarming to see the couple slip back into each other's familiar and loving arms.
But no story is complete without overcoming some struggle. And that comes in the forms of jealous ex's, current boyfriends, grueling tour schedules, and handsy groupies. Being in a mega-famous rock band and traveling on a cramped tour bus just isn't for everyone. But it's Ash and Eve's own insecurities and uncertainties that cause the most problems for them.
I really enjoyed this book. No, the technicality of this one wasn't as refined as the third book. There were a few typos and missing quote signs. I had to re-read a few parts to figure out who was speaking certain lines. However, I could overlook these flaws and enjoyed the story, anyway.
In closing... Four sweet suns for this band boy and his Angel! After seeing Nicki and Trixie hit it off in this book, I am excited to read their story next!
This book is about getting a second chance with the one you are destined to be with and fighting like he** to make it work.
This book is based around Ash and Eve or as Ash referred to her as “Angel”. They were high school sweethearts and during college Ash left to become lead guitarist of the heavy rock group Oblivion. When he left Eve was devastated and it took her a few years until she was able to pull herself out of a state of depression and move on. Her BFF and biggest supporter during and after college, Trixie, helped her get her life back on track. After not seeing each other for about seven years Ash and Eve accidently meet up again and that is when the sparks start to fly.
“He’d better not think that I’m as easy as one of those skanks.”
Trixie was quite a character. She told it like it is and always had Eve’s back. I loved the things that came out of her mouth and loved how she didn’t give a crap what people thought of her.
“Ash, you a**hole, if you f**king hurt her I’ll personally see to it that your balls are removed with a blunt knife and shoved down your throat.”
Ash was one sexy and sweet rocker. He wore his feelings on his sleeve and was not afraid to go after what he wanted. Of course, every story needs a skank. The one that just doesn’t take no for an answer and is constantly trying to get in the way. Beth was that skank and let me tell you something. I wanted to smack that b**ch a few times.
“He growls, “F**k Angel, you’re killing me here. You shouldn’t make those noises, you’re making me think of all the ways I could make you moan like that…I’m trying desperately to be good here and you’re not making it easy.”
“I f**king want you, Angel. I’m no going to let you go for a second time. I’ll earn you back. I’ll fight for you, now I’ve found you again, you’re going to be mine and only mine.”
The story was fast paced and didn’t dwell around useless information. My only issue with this story was that the characters were born in Oklahoma and then moved to LA but the author used lots of words that someone born and raised in the USA would not be saying. A few examples: Wankers, lift, and boot. I am assuming from the sentence that boot means trunk. Outside of that, I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next book.
Heaven Sent is book #1 in the Oblivion on Tour Series, it’s the first book I have read by this author and I was gifted a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a rock star romance but it’s not really the sex, drugs and rock and roll portrayal we normally see. Oblivion are the slightly sleazy but ultimately nice guys of rock!!
Ash and Eve are destined to be together its feels inevitable.
This is a very sweet story of rekindled love and I liked both Ash and Eve.
To be honest I felt like there back stories in the intervening years before they got back together were a little odd, but its back story so meh.
This couple instantly reconnect the moment they lay eyes in each other and I felt like I could feel the familiarity in the connection they shared. There’s some serious chemistry and the sex is passionately sexy!
I enjoyed this book but I have a bit of an issue… This book is a bit too nice!! The bad boy rockers have all reformed and the party girls have grown up. Even the Evil ex is found out in like 2 seconds!!
The romance is still there and their love easily overcomes all of the obstacles that are put in their path.
The story tries to dip into the dark side with foursomes and light bondage but ultimately it feels less like girls gone wild and more like good girls are us.
I love books that are large groups of friends/family and the other band members were all funny and I look forward to reading the rest of their books.
This is an easy fun read I give Heaven Sent 3.5 Stars.
*this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review* 3.5-4 stars... Ash and Eve were high school sweethearts, and truly soul mates. While starting college, Ash's musical career takes off, and lands him a gig with the band, Obilivion. He and Eve try and make a go while he's touring, but when it gets extended, Ash figures he's being selfish in asking Eve to hang on. When Ash walks away, it destroys Eve, and she's left trying to pic, up the pieces of her broken heart. Eve struggles to maintain some sanity, and after years of drowning in her sorrows, the flop switches, and she's a party girl. She graduates college, moves on with her life, and is now working her dream job. Knowing Obilivion is booked at the hotel she's helping manage, she never dreams that she'll actually see Ash again. As she enters his hotel room to tell the after party to quiet down, Ash sees his "Angel". Ash can't believe his Angel is in the same room as him again. He made the biggest mistake of his life by walking away from his true love, and now she's within arm's reach. Ash and Eve slowly start to reconnect, but Eve is also on a "break" from Richard. Ash living the rock star lifestyle, and Eve knowing deep in her heart that she and Ash were always meant to be. As Ash continues to tour, Eve hits the road with the band. They hit the typical road blocks of groupies, parties, and an over clingy band manager. The story is sweet, but often times pretty cheesy. There's hot scenes...but then you have the expected story line. Great ending, and really enjoyed the great intro to Nikki and Trixie.

His name is Ash Her name is Eve
Since high school Ash and Eve are inseparable. Now both in College Ash is given the opportunity to join a band called Oblivion. Leaving college Ash goes on tour leaving Eve behind to continue to study but still staying together, doing the long distance relationship thing.
Six months passes and that all changes.
Eve gets the call that she has been dreading. Their relationship is now over
Forward 7 years, Eve is working as a Contract Manager for various hotels and is flown to San Francisco to help out a hotel. Oblivion are staying there.
Eve and Ash's worlds collide.
Seeing each other again they both are still very much in love with each other. But can anything become of them? Can Eve trust Ash after he broke her heart? Can Ash give what Eve needs? Can they both put the past behind them, or is it just to painful for them to forget?
Add to that a boyfriend who won't say no, a psycho tour manager, secrets and a drugging Heaven Sent will leave you on the edge of your seat. Exploring trust, hope, forgiveness, lust and love. Exploring hurt, pain, anguish and betrayal.
Heaven Sent is a definite must read.
Tania Sparks has done an amazing job, writing it beautifully and taking us on the journey every step of the way.
We highly recommend Heaven Sent on your TBR list and give it 10 out of 10.
Yes, I liked Ash although I thought at times he was a wuss No, I didn't find "Angel" that great of a character. Loved the Cover Art
The story was fist person by Angel. Time period is present day Both Characters are originally from Oklahoma but move to LA eventually and tour thought the country and overseas. The genre is NA or Adult since every other page they are at it. However, Angel at time seemed that she was more of a high scholar instead of a business woman.
I made several notations while reading Heaven Sent, some because I was tired of reading the same endearing love line over and over. Several other notations were due to situations when they would be in an embrace and while picturing it, it didn't seem that it was very comfortable or no way it could be done unless they were contortionist!
I was unable to see the point to this story. The plot just wasn't very interesting to me. I kept waiting for something to happen. It was just to straight forward and nothing new introduced that was remotely interesting.
This is how I remembered the plot
They were boyfriend and girlfriend They broke up They meet again They get together She goes on tour with the band They had sex all the time The End
I gave it two stars because I appreciate how Ash was described when he took off his shirt I really liked the cover.
This is my first book by this author and while it was written in 2014, I totally loved every second of the book. The book is told in first person by Angel/Eve which is not something I like. I like dual POV but in this book it really worked well.
The book starts 7 years before when Ash and Eve go there separate ways. He gets a gig with his band which turns into 18 months. Eve goes off to college and he breaks up with her so she can enjoy college. Now its 7 years later and Eve has a boyfriend, Richard and he feels they are getting too serious and so they take a break. They agree to meet in San Franscisco where Eve is going for a job at the end of the month and then will decide to stay together or break up.
Eve goes to her assignment as hotel night manager and turns out Ash's band is staying at the same hotel and thats where the story gets terrific. I totally loved how Ash is super into Eve and Eve fallls hard and fast for him too. Along the way Eve has to dump Richard and Ash has an ex issue as well. But I don't want to ruin the fun of this great story by saying anything else.
This is book 1 of a 3 book series and I plan to keep reading because I loved this book so much.
Bad writing. Repetitive writing. Bad editing. Bad characters. Bad story line. Awful male character. 7 years? 7years of awful behavior and she just forgives him? So unrealistic and foolish. Just bad all around.
Ash and Eve are high school sweethearts, separated when Ash is chosen as the newest member of the up-and-coming rock band, Oblivion. Heartbroken, Eve commits herself to her studies and keeping her scholarship.
Fast forward seven years…Ash is still rocking and a chance meeting at a hotel in San Francisco set the fates in motion for Ash and Eve to rekindle their romance. Neither one has forgotten, or gotten over, their love for the other. Can they both get past their heartbreak from seven years ago and trust each other again with their hearts?
As a debut novel, this book was actually very good. The characters are well developed and the storyline is clean and progresses forward. I enjoyed the back story of both Ash and Eve and really liked how they rekindled their relationship. I’m very curious to see where the rest of the series takes the band and their members. Good start to a new rocker series. ~ Missy, 4 stars
This book is not well written in my opinion. There seemed to be no flow to the words right from the start. When it would have been OK to have a short sentence to say they were going out the door the author had to describe everything around them before overly describing how they went out the door. If she was not being overly flowery then she tried to get as much information out in a really short time. She was just spitting out facts in a rapid fire manner. You can also tell that the author is not American and trying to write characters from the U.S. She used words that we wouldn’t use e.g. she used the word village in reference to an area near LA. That is not the word that would apply. If she had just done characters from her neck of the woods they could still be in America, but the words she chose would make sense. This book just did not sit right with me from the beginning.
This starts out as your normal "Rockstar Romance" but it quickly becomes clear that this one is a non-formulaic book with much more relistic characters yet is still a well-written and fast-paced story. All of that keeps the reader from considering it a fluff story since it is still serious enough to pull off a great book. This review was originally posted on Books In Brogan
I'll give it two because I finished it. there were some good times in the book, but sadly not enough. characters whiny, judgemental, and not consistent. writing didn't keep the book together. just when you think there's potential, it goes away. it's based in America but reads more English which I found out later the author is from New Zealand. part of keeping the writing together in a book is keeping the characters true. that means in this case AMERICAN in thought and voice. it's disruptive to the story and more often than not helps the story fall apart.
Eve and Ash were high school sweethearts, but were separated when he went off to be a rock star and she went back to complete her higher education. Years later they reconnect by chance and realize that the love for and attraction to each other is still there. Because of their breakup years ago they will find it challenging to open their hearts to each other again for fear of being hurt all over again. Their story is a mixture of what makes a fantastic romance...a second chance at love and that chance is with a rock star. I loved their story.
Ash & Eve/Angel's story was very enjoyable! I liked the way they ran back into each other & how they make their relationship work. Loved the interaction with the band, each member getting to know Eve & feeling like more than just supporting characters. I'm looking forward to reading about each of their stories!
One thing to note, this takes place in America, but is written in the British vernacular. It can throw you off a bit, but shouldn't detract from the story.
Ash will always protect his girl's sensitivities: ...It’s only then that we realize that Nikki isn’t wearing anything – he’s butt naked giving us all an eye full! “What the eff Nikki!” Ash screeches as he quickly tries to cover my eyes with his hands. Nikki shrugs his shoulders and says, “What’s the problem?” “I don’t want you flashing your effing wares around my Angel,” Ash growls. I enjoyed this book, the characters were likable and I cannot wait for Nikki's book, that man is wild.
