No surprise that Alisa wow's us once again with her writing. This book was very emotional, the struggle one goes through for the love of family and just for love. Aoife is a remarkable person inside and out, she's been through so much in life but continues to rise to make a better life. Sean oh Sean he is one of a kind. He has a heart of gold, when he loves he loves hard and strong! True love story at its best! This book was breathtaking and was an astounding read for me.
I give this book a 5+ star review! Alisa's books can only get better! <3 This is one of my Top 5 books of the year!

WoW ~ Unmarked is delivered in true Alisa Mullen fashion! Raw, powerful emotion at its finest. Unmarked is a story of finding love just when you didn't think you ever would. Sean and Aofie's story is one that will grab you right from the beginning and keep hold of you until the very end! Sean comes off as the BAD BOY, that is until the beautiful Aofie makes an unexpected appearance in his life! From then on, nothing is the same!
I would highly recommend grabbing a copy of Unmarked and discovering their story together as Sean and Aofie decide what is worth fighting for and what isn't!
Unmarked is book #4 in The Chosen Series…however, it can be read as a standalone!
We met Sean, Lizzie’s best friend, in the first 3 books but never really got his story. His story explains how he has loved Lizzie all his life and how deep their friendship goes. Sean is the model tattooed social reject…but he is so much more!
As much of a weakness as I have for a hot Irish man my love for tattooed boys trumps that tenfold! In this book, told from Sean’s story, Alisa really makes the reader feel what Sean has, and how deeply he has felt everything concerning Lizzie…all while she was oblivious to it. I absolutely fell in love with Sean and my heart bled for him…until he met Aoife. As much as I loved him before…I loved him more after Aoife came into the picture…they are perfect for eachother!
Holy mother of all messed up lives! Aoife left me in awe and amazement! Don’t get me wrong…I got really upset with her several times while reading and cursed her aloud (to my teenagers amusement), but once her entire story is told…*sigh*…I just wanted to cry for her. The strength and selflessness she demonstrated throughout the story is something of wonderment.
As much as this story can be a standalone I myself think you will get more out of it after reading the first 3 books of The Chosen Series (Unsettled, Unchosen, and Unrequited). If you haven’t read them…run quick and one-click those babies! You WILL NOT regret it. This series kept me on the edge of my seat. It had me laughing, crying, and really pissed off with the turn of a page…amazing writing by Alisa Mullen and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for me next!!
OMG!! This is my absolute favorite book in the series. I was holding my breath the whole time wondering if she really would leave. Then when Sean went looking for her, I thought please don't do this again Alisa but then awwwww the whole story was good again!!
Love worth fighting for with All Your Might!! Sean had one obsession and that was Lizzie. Then out of nowhere this beautiful, shy creature with the most beautiful green eyes stumbles in his path and he knows from there on, he has no chance to fight against this pull she has on him.
Aoife doesn't like to attract attention to herself, she's more of a loner, so when the most fuck*ng sexy man vies for her attention, she can't help but give in.
Sean decides to give the attraction between him and Aoife a chance, thinking it's only for a summer while she's here working. What he fails to realize, is that when the heart is involved all bets are off. The more Sean learns about Aoife the more he wants to be with her, care for her, nourish her, love her and protect her. Aoife, being the tough Irish girl she is, doesn't need those things because she feels they aren't real, especially with everything she's already experienced in her young life.
When reading about Aoife's life and challenges in Ireland, it had my emotions all over the place. I was wishing, hoping and wanting so bad, for her to change her mind about returning to Ireland and giving this thing with Sean a chance.
Sean truly showed his sweet, tender side with Aoife and it had me falling even more in love with this beautiful man, inside and out. I will say that the intimate parts between Sean & Aoife were Scorching Hot, like fireworks going off but tender at the same time :-)
This beautiful story had my emotions all over the place and by the end I Wanted More of it, because I'm greedy like that. I must say that Sean & Aoife have actually become one of my favorite couples and I can't wait to get more of them in the future *wink*.
Ms Mullen, please thank the "real Aoife" for allowing you to share some of her private, but beautifully, amazing life with us. ~ Kara, 5 Remarkably Amazing Stars ~~~
This book - the fourth in the Chosen series, which is one of my favorite series - was one I had anticipated. One I had high hopes for. And one that, ultimately, left me feeling a little uncertain.
For Sean Ford, Lizzie O'Malley represents what might have been. He's loved her for years, never truly seeing anyone else. When he meets Aoife Flanagan at a party, her beauty and her soul call to him, and finally he is finally able to see beyond his unrequited love.
But Aoife only has a summer in Boston before she returns to Ireland, her family, and her hard life. Will one perfect summer be enough for Sean and Aoife, or will they find another way?
I wanted to love this story as I had the earlier books in this stellar series. I went into it with high expectations, and while I enjoyed the story as a whole - and was more than happy to see Sean and Aoife reach for their HEA - I never felt fully connected to these characters. In particular, Aoife. I needed more from her to better appreciate Sean's affection for and attraction to her. Many times, I wished for additional chapters in her POV to further understand what was happening inside her head - even if she was unable to show Sean himself.
I, too, struggled with the beginning of this story, and the suddenness of Sean's feelings for the elusive Aoife. After so much time in love with his best friend, to see him fall for another girl - almost immediately forgetting Lizzie - was hard. And without truly knowing Aoife, the character, it felt even more so.
In the end, I did enjoy Sean in all his tattooed glory, with all his hard-falling emotion for Aoife, but did I love Unmarked? No. I liked it. I'm happy to have finished it but I did wish for something a little different. I wished for a book that focused solely on Aoife, her past in Ireland and her future with Sean, rather than centered on Sean's unreturned love. That's a story I could love.
Unmarked is the fourth book in the Chosen series and can be read standalone. ~ Beth, 3.5 stars
4.5 stars Wow Unmarked was a really gut wrenching story in a really great way. It was like a sucker punch to the gut from the first pages and I loved every moment of it. I was not expecting this incredibly heartbreaking story. I enjoyed the first three books of the Chosen series, Lizzie's story, but this blew those books out of the water. Unmarked is Sean's story. Sean who you do meet in the first books, but I never like you really get to know him. He is not in it very often so you could definitely read this without reading them, but if you read them first you will understand Lizzie a little more.
Speaking of Lizzie...I got so angry with her in this book. I really liked her in the her story. Yes she was a bit of a mess, but she was great. This story? She annoyed me for most of it. I was just like what is your deal?? I know you got hurt before in a similar situation, but Aofie is not Teagan! Sean is finally, finally moving on from you and you can't let him be happy for two seconds? Seriously he has been nothing but amazing with you, always there for you, always being a supportive friend, and this is how you repay him? Seriously? What is wrong with you? There was definitely some swearing going on when Lizzie was involved and that is not usually me. Man she made me angry. Probably because by that time I was already vulnerable from Sean and Aoife and I loved them both so much.
Man Sean and Aoife. They just ripped me apart. Both of them. I just felt all the feels for these two characters right from the start. Sean is amazing, he really is, and he has had the worst time with people he cares about. Everyone is leaving him or not wanting him or whatever. He is just so great and I loved him and wanted all good things for him. And Aoife? Oh Aoife you broke my heart. At first it is like what is going on with her? What is she hiding? What is her life like back in Ireland? When you find out it was just devastating for me. It made me feel everything for her. It was painful watching her struggle so much with what she wants vs what she has to do. When she first starts seeing Sean she is so hot and cold. So timid, but then strong. So off and on. It was...you read it and it just breaks your heart. I couldn't put this book down and I just wanted to cry for both of them. They love each other so much, but can they figure out a way to be together forever like they both want? Can Aoife reconcile wanting to be there for her family and wanting to be with Sean? You know while reading the story that she has to go back to Ireland at the end of the summer and I just dreaded it. They are so perfect together and I loved both of them so much!
It really was a devastating story, but that just makes the happy endings that much happier. Having those heartbreaking times, those dark clouds, makes you appreciate the rainbows that much more. Man this story really was an intense read. I loved it. I couldn't put it down. I loved Aoife and Sean so much more than I thought I would. I loved it from the first sentences until the last. A great great read. Definitely pick up a copy of Unmarked, especially if you enjoyed the first three books in the Chosen series. Be prepared for some heartache though as it was just such an amazing but emotional read.
Why am I just reading an Alisa Mullen novel now? This is my first read from her, obviously — since I haven’t read the first 3 books in the series yet — PS: She is very generous enough to send a copy of the box set. :D
It was stated that this can be read as a standalone since the main characters will be different although they are related to the main characters on the first 3 books in the series . Often times, even though it was stated that a series will have an interconnected characters standalone series, I have a hard time connecting with the characters.
I would say that this book is definitely one of those — in the beginning! When all Sean thinks about is Lizzie, Lizzie, Lizzie freaking Lizzie!!! Since I didn’t actually know their “relationship” progress, it was kind of irritating. I guess I’ll take the blame on this one since I didn’t read the first part of the series even though I already have the copy c/o the generous author.
Sean is this martyr guy who still pins for a woman after so many years — 10 years married to another guy! And he still “loves” her.
Things got really interesting when Aoife comes in the picture. Aoife is the Irish girl who happens to be at the party who also seems to alone and pinning for another guy that cannot be hers.
Aoife, at beginning is someone that I actually don’t get. One minute she is this timid, shy girl then next minute she is this girl who has spazz and pizzaz. But as we delve into the story and the author drop hints on how she came to be — I realize that she is a very likeable girl and I just want to be her friend.
The reason on why they are together that first night might be because of a not so good reason, but neither did they know that it is a start of a great and real relationship.
During this time, the book is starting to have that Sean-and-Aoife-is-the-real-hero-and-heroine-kind-of-vibe. I am starting to love everything in this book such especially phasing of the story — knowing each other, their “first time”, banters, hints of the past.
It became a disappointment for me when the ending felt rushed with the “happy for now” ending. In my opinion, it would just have a bigger impact if it ended in a really big revelation and cliffhanger! Now, all I need to do is wait for the next book!! SeanXAoife!
Oh, there are actually two things that really annoyed me in this book but this did not change my rating overall — one is Lizzie! After reading the book, I am contemplating of I will read her story! Sorry, Alisa! I’m not a fan of Lizzie in this book! Pretty hateful. Two — what Sean did after, right after, as in after Aoife left. C’mon Sean, I thought that you REALLY LOVE her!
To Alisa, thank you so much for the opportunity to read this! I’ll try to read Lizzie’s story!! Thank you for letting me out of my book funk! <3
To Kylie, thank you for the patience. Sorry for posting this just now. Keep on #arcbombarding Blog: http://bujoijoi22.com
I started Unmarked without reading any of the other books in the series. The way the Author, Alisa Mullen, described each character so vividly and flawlessly left me feeling like I didn't miss a thing. So yes, without a doubt this book can be read as a stand-alone! When I got to the end I didn't want it to be over! I will most definitely go back and read the rest of the series and I can not wait to get more Sean.
Sean is the main male character. He has been in love with Lizzie for what seems like forever. He was there for the birth of her son. "I stood in as the "father" since the real douche face was in Ireland and didn't ever want the baby in the first place. The strongest emotion I had was a protective love for both Lizzie and Niall."~Sean
And he's always been there to pick her up when she was down. When Lizzie mets Nick, who is in a band, they fall in love and get married. This leaves Sean feeling like he'll never have a chance at love again.
Sean works at a tattoo shop and is covered in tattoos. That gives the impression that he is the bad boy around town when really he has the biggest heart of any of the Male characters I have read in a long time. It was insta-love with Sean no matter how stand offish he may seem.
*Insert Aoife* While at a party that Lizzie and Nick are throwing, Sean sees this tiny woman hiding in the corner. Something draws him to her and immediately you could feel the chemistry between the two. I won't go to much into their story because I don't want to give away any spoilers. I will say she is from Ireland and has had a very rough life. She harbors secrets that Sean just can't get out of her. They fall in love quick and hard. It was such a joy watching their story develop and tackle all the obstacles thrown their way. Aoife hasn't met anyone like him and she feels something with him she has never felt. Safe and Cherished
"For once, just once, I wish someone would want me." She pointed at her very generous chest she spoke so poorly about. "Someone to give me some attention because I bloody, f***ing need it. I'm so alone, Sean. No worse - I'm so lonely all the time."~Aoife Sean gives her exactly what she asks for and more.
If you are looking for a romantic story filled with secrets, a broken man who honestly thinks there will be no other woman in his life except the "untouchable" Lizzie then this is the book for you. This is the 4th book in The Chosen series and I read it as a stand-alone. Alisa Mullen has found a new fan in me. I highly recommend Unmarked!!!

wow another amazing 5star read from the incredibly talented Alisa Mullen
I have wanted this book since I first met Sean in unsettled I mean come on who doesn't love a sexy man covered in tattoos that has a tortured soul and a hidden love where do I begin without spoilers ok so Alisa loves to make us cry whether they be the ugly kind or the happy heartfelt kind and this book has both in abundance!! but in this book we meet Aoife sweet fragile Aoife or so she may appear to anyone on the outside looking in to me this woman is strong and incredibly resilient to live her life and still stand is admirable. I didn't think I could love Sean anymore then I already did( yes ladies he's claimed and mine) but I fell so hard for him. in the other books you get glimpses of a best friend a secret love but there's so much more to Sean ford so so much more!! Get ready to see a man stand up and fight for the person he loves,to see a man ready to take on his own demons, to fight the woman he loves demons for her when she no longer has the strength or ability to do so!! watch as a man helps heal a woman who hasn't had anyone in her corner or fight for her ever. her life sucks!!!!! plain and simple but she hides it well from everyone but Sean so many times throughout this book I wanted to shake her and be like wtf its Sean Sean f'ing ford wake up woman but as the story continues and the twists and turns (cause theres a few) come clear your left with your jaw hanging open wondering wow how did that happen
throughout this whole story your rooting for them both to get their happy ending to get closure to get the beautiful real ugly kind of love we all deserve!! can 2broken souls really find the perfect in the imperfections of life can they survive life when so much is in there way will Sean finally just finally find the love he so truly deserves in the arms of a feisty Irish girl or does history just repeat itself there's parts of this story that I found hard to read only because of it realness and brutal honesty but when you find the one person who sees you for who you truly are and not the image or front or sob story that you've been labeled with or carry the one person who finally just wants you!! what do you do? what would you do???want to find out what Sean and Aoife do then read the book I'm not telling!!! in my eyes this is truly Alisa's best work to date and I'm so glad I'm getting to find my escape in her words
WOW I truly enjoyed this book. I am such a fan of the male POV so that was a BIG BONUS !! Not to mention the wonderful visuals that Robert Simmons has provided us all with for months and months now !! He truly is the best Sean ever !! The tats , the clothes , the smoking , the smirk , the lips !! OMG I enjoyed having him on my mind throughout the book !! Now back to the story !!
Sean has been in love with Lizzie forever. He has been her best friend , her savior practically her everything and anything she ever needed but never her man. So sad. They have both suffered many struggles together and apart but now Lizzie is married with kids living in the ritzy part of Boston while Sean is still wanting her while he works his tail off at his Tattoo shop in Newburyport. Dragging himself to her anniversary party is not what he wants to do but thankfully he does because his whole life changes that night when he catches the eye of Aoife !!
Aoife is here for the summer from Ireland. Working to make money for her family to care for them. She is fascinated by Sean but has no faith in herself that he would ever want her. Little does she know he wants her bad. In this quick whirlwind meeting they find a fast friendship that then quickly changes to lust and eventually love. Where it comes from nobody knows but when it hits Sean it is like nothing he ever felt before. With hurdles of their past being constantly thrown their way they do their best to enjoy the weeks they have together. When things heat up it is electric and super HOT !! Sean is alpha male and dominant and all things you fantasise about !! Aoife has many secrets and they are very painful. She wants nothing to do with Ireland but also has no choice but to go back. This painful realization sets emotions on fire and it is a pretty scary few hours LOL.
This story will keep you on your toes once secrets come out and friendships are put to the test. I enjoyed every minute of their journey and would love for more !!
*** ARC provided on behalf of the author for an honest review ***
We were really looking forward to reading about Sean you get a glimpse of him in books 1-3 and with a sexy as hell best friend of Lizzy's all tatted up running a tattoo shop that loves heavy metal sexy as sin 6 pack to die for who the hell wouldn't be excited to read his story!! OK so it's time to get to know the real Sean with his POV Sean has been in love with Lizzy forever he was there for Niall's birth he was there when Teagan left he was there when Lizzy had no where to go. He loved her body and soul but when Lizzy met Nick and started a family with Nick he was heart broken. He didn't think he would ever love again. We are now introduced to Aoife. Aoife is from Ireland she is here working for the summer with Freddie, Aoife has a family back home she needs to take care of and no matter what happens she will be returning to Ireland at the end of the summer she is here to work for money and that's all!!! Aoife to is broken very broken.Sean meets Aoife at the anniversary party for Lizzy and Nick, Aoife intrigues him he wants to know more he needs to know more..... At the end of the summer Aoife leaves for Ireland back to her horrible life she is broken but must go back to her family.
Sean is broken when Aoife leaves to go back to her life in Ireland he wants her, he needs her to breath... Can they make it work will there be a happy ending?
Will Aoife come back or Sean go to her? What's is she hiding in Ireland? This is a book you will have to read to find out!!
Alisa nailed this book it was such a roller coaster I cried and I felt I was right there with them. It's a must read book. These books aren't short book there full of emotion and a more full length novels which is great. This book has lots of twist and turns we were floored by the last twist that you don't see coming!!
Sean is a tattoo artist that has always been in love with is best friend and even though she has been married for ten years he still hasn’t moved on and never thought he would.
Aoife is a Irish woman that has come to the states on work experience and has escaped the horrors of what she lives though back in Ireland even if it is just for the summer.
When they happen to run into each other at a anniversary party. She’s bored and he just wants to be anywhere but there they leave together to have a few drinks with his friends they start to realize that the have a true connection.
In their relationship everything is going to well and they are falling for each other but in the background they both know that she is leaving at the end of the summer. He try’s to convince her to stay but she can’t because of her family back home.
I’m going to Leave that there cause there are so many thing I don’t want to mention and leave for when you read it yourself cause I hate spoilers.
My Review This book has me laughing out loud, Crying , Stunned and Angry the love that these 2 share is something everyone hopes to find in life, Something that should be cherished. There is a few things is this book that made me cry, broke my heart and made me angry and to me that shows brilliant writing that it can evoke such emotion. I have read all 4 of The Chosen series books in the last week and half and this book is my favorite thus far Alisa Mullen just gets better and better. This Book and series has been my Favorite books this Year and should be on EVERYONES must read if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Thank you Alisa Mullen for the hours of reading pleasure and keep up the great work can’t wait to read more from you. You are on my list of have to read Authors. xxx
I received an ecopy from the author in exchange for my honest review, While I have read a few books in a similar vein, the tatooed badboy rocker is not my first love. Well, Sean may change my mind. He not only is a loyal friend but a pretty decent substitue dad/big brother role model.
Sean isn't looking forward to going to Lizzie and Nick's anniversary party. It seems like they've been friends forever but sean has always wished to be more than just Lizzie's best friend. He goes to the party out of a sense of obligation and because of his loving friendship. Totally unexpected he meets this amazing young Irish woman who has only been in the country a dew days and really doesn't know anyone. She looks as out of place at the party as Sean feels.
Aoife has never seen anyone like Sean and something about her seems to affect how words slip out of her mouth. She seems shy and a bit fragile on the surface, but beneath she is strong and a survivor. She has secrets that she fears will make her unattractive to any decent man.
Sean and Aoife begin a relationship, taking it slower than either would like. Each feels the value of what they could share and doesn't want to scare the other one away. The trouble is, Aoife has only a few months before she has to return to Ireland. How dangerous is it to really fall for this intriguing man? And all of their friends is against the two of them as a couple.
This is an interesting and intriguing read. You hold your breath to see what will happen next. You will be rooting for them to make it, for Sean to finally figure out his infatuation with Lizzie is not serving him; you want to know the secrets they are hiding.
After reading this book as a stand alone I an interesting in reading more of this series.
We were first introduced to Sean in the previous books of the Series and we know him as the gorgeous, sexy, muscly tattooed tattoo shop owner who was Lizzie’s best friend. He has been there for Lizzie through everything and along the way, he fell head over heels in love with her.
When Lizzie falls in love and starts a family with Nick, Sean is heartbroken and beyond devastated. He believes he will never find another love like Lizzie. Then he meets Aoife at a party for Lizzie and Nick and they hit it off.
Aoife is from Ireland and is only there for the Summer working to save money for her family and when the Summer is over, Aoife must return to her very unhappy life back in Ireland. The two fall in love during their time together and when Aoife leaves, Sean is once again heartbroken and devastated.
You will be left wondering if Aoife will return, will Sean go and find her and bring her back or was is just a summer romance that they will never will forget?
I was hoping that Sean would find someone to mend his broken heart from Lizzie and I was so excited that Aoife was able to help him realise that there could be more than one person out there to love and you just have to open yourself up to the possibility.
Unmarked broke my heart and had tears pouring down my face. This is a fantastic read and Alissa has written such a heart wrenching story that will stay with you!
I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Tanya.
I read Lizze O'Malley story were we first meet Sean Ford and I was excited to read his story but his story was not love and butterfly's at first. Sean is fun guy but has a broken heart. But I did love that thru his pain over Lizzie we see him but we also see at lot of Lizzie but thru his pain he meets Aoife. She a timed young thing but spit fire when provoked. She is everything Lizzie is not but thru Sean eyes she is perfect. But when secrets are never revealed, when his blinders for lizzie come off and the love he feels for Aoife have expiration date will Sean ever be the same.
I love Alisa writing and we see the continuation of Sean, Lizzie and Nick but I was worried this would be Teegan and Lizzie all over but was I wrong. There were similarities but Sean loves Aoife and her feelings are mutual but there are secrets that are unspoken between them.
I was disappointed at the end thing we have a full HEA for Sean and Aoife but it did leave you with a big cliffhanger were a truth is told but never explained. You will be chomping at the bit for the next book in the series about Sean and Aoife.
We see Lizzie, Nick and some other characters from earlier in the series like Freddie. I love to see more of him and possibly a book but I cant wait to read the next chapter for Sean and Sean.
I read this book immediately after the first 3 books in this series. This was my first encounter with this author, and I sure hope that this isn't the last as I freakin well loved them all. However, Sean is just the best. He has won his place as top of my book boyfriend list. Shoving the infamous Christian Grey down a spot. THAT is how good I think this author is!!!! Having Irish parents makes me love this book even more as I am able to hear Aoife clearly in my head and visualize where she lives. I adore the strength Aoife shows throughout the book. And the author writes about Aoife's abuse with compassion and sensitivity without taking away the realism of it. I am in awe of how well the author weaves all the characters into this book and the whole series. It is never contrived in order to open up possibilities for further books which I often see. Well done for the choice of cover model. Robert Simmons looks exactly like how Sean is described. All together I think this is an Amazing book written by an extremely talented author and I look forward to reading more from her. Thank you for sharing your story with For The Love Of Books we award it 5 stars ~ Rosie
I've taken quite a hiatus from NA as the genre seemed a bit overrun. I met Alisa at a book event and she was kind enough to provide an ARC of her new book. I was completely engrossed in Sean's and Aoife's story. Sometimes an angst ridden romance is a great way to spend a few evenings, getting lost in the character's problems, surprises, and successes. Have a few sexy love scenes didn't hurt (cough cough)! The characters were engaging and, as noted above, I shook my mental fist a few times with their self made relationship problems. I appreciated the author noting ASAP before the story starts of Aoife's cultural background and the expectations that come with it. The supporting characters, such as Sean's best friend, Lizzy, could really cause an ugly ripple, but were an ingrained part of the story.
In my wee personal opinion, the blurb describes the story completely without me needing to dive into the story during this review. What stood out for me was how likable each character was and the kindness they showed each other and their flaws. The lovely surprise at the end was a good twist.
Sean Ford is so not what one would expect. He is a man who loves hard. His heart has been broken and he has been living with that for years!
Sean meets Aoife at a party and honestly the instant attraction between the two was there. The way they react to one another is just adorable honestly. A hot fine ass tatted up dude and an innocent Irish girl in the states for an internship. One wonders what they have in common, but when you meet the one you are to be with, nothing and no one stands in your way. What we thought we wanted can change in a heartbeat.
What these two have is beautiful, he never knew what intimacy was and he discovers it with Aoife. To just kiss and enjoy a person and not just want to fuck them senseless is something he has been missing.
But, life can't always be this innocent and loving, right? Things happen. How will they react? how will this beautiful beginning turn out?
Alisa is amazing. Her writing style and commitment to her books is one that needs to be shared with everyone.
I couldn't wait to read Sean's story because he was my favorite character of all. I knew there was more to him and he had such a soft heart towards his best friend Lizzie which he knew he could never have but always still wished if there was a chance, he would take it in a heart beat....until.....
Now we meet a hot Irish girl, Aoife, friend of Freddie. Aoife has secrets she can never tell but she cannot take her eyes off the bad tattooed guy across from the room. She knows she can't stay in American because she has "family" to take care back home in Ireland but maybe Sean can help her get through just a few weeks. It seems like another Lizzie & Teagan story again....
Love ignites unexpectedly and goodbyes are harder and harder when the time comes. Will Sean finally let go of Lizzie and give Aoife a chance? Will the secrets they both hide tear them apart before it gets started?
Cannot wait for the continuation of this story. It ends with a HFN and will get more after Freddie's story next year!
I was gifted this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Oh, Sean!! Covered in tattoos with a heart of gold. He was so sweet as Lizzie's best friend in the previous novels and I knew I'd love him in this story. He's even more sweet when he finally finds love. He and Aoife had such an instant and intense beginning.
They were smitten with each the moment they set eyes on each other. But Sean find himself in the same position Lizzie was in. His Irish beauty is only here for the summer. He is so determined to focus on the moments he has with her, but summer is over way too quickly. Aoife was a strong heroine. Her life in Ireland was FAR from ideal but it didn't really affect her spirit. The more comfortable she was with Sean the more he got to see the real her. She was sweet and tender but deep down she was a strong individual. The shared an amazing connection from the moment they met and Sean proves he's willing to fight with all he has to keep what they shared.
I can't wait for Uncovered. There's still so much more to Aoife's story.
Sean and Aofie’s story Is one of not just finding Love when you think you may not deserve it, but figuring out what you’re willing to sacrifice for love, and for family. When do the needs of your family outweigh your own self preservation? Are you willing to give up everything? There Were a few times while reading that I kind of wanted to throttle Lizzy! The fact that she was so naive about Seans feelings for her had me wondering if she’s a bit more selfish than we know. However, I loved seeing the Sean/Lizzy friendship through Sean’s eyes. As much as I originally wanted Sean and Lizzy together in the beginning, I realized over the course of all 4 books that Lizzy is right where she should be, and Sean an Aofie Were made for eachother! 2 equally strong/stubborn individuals with so much passion for each other and the people they love, makes for some interesting reading! I’m just happy that Miss Mullen was able to glue the pieces of my heart back together after she shattered it!
We get to meet Sean in the Chosen series books 1-3, but now we get to see Sean in all his tattooed glory. You fall for Sean in the Chosen series, but i feel you can read his story as a stand alone read as now he gets to shine like the man he is with his six pack, and tattoos and sweet nature. Sean has known heart break he was in love but that person found someone else, now Sean meets Aoife and finds a way to love again. I have read Alisa Mullen before when i read Plastic Confidence, which you can find the review on this site. So i know she can write amazing stories that pull your emotions all over the place and this is no different, though the emotion pulling is not a bad thing when done by Alisa. Sean has a big heart but how much more trauma can it take, he already has lost one love of his life to another man, what happens with Aoife and Sean means he has to decide if he fights for what he wants and the woman he wants. An emotional journey for a character you will class as a new book boyfriend.
This is my first Alisa Mullen book and I really liked it. Sean is hot, sexy & easily loved. When I started reading this book because I have not read the other books of this series, this can be a standalone, I was quickly disappointed he would not get his HEA with the love of his life. Happily I feel he did find the real love of his life even if it was just for a summer.
Sean & Aoife shared a strong loving bond right from the start. They agreed to make the best of the time they had even though they both knew they would be heart broken. Sean's story is sweet and endearing and I felt myself disliking Lizzie for her selfish actions and rooting for Aoife even though I knew his heart would suffer. Sean had to learn there was more to life after he let his love for Lizzie go. He needed this distraction to help him stop pining after a married woman and find himself some happiness.

BEST. BOOK. OF. THE. SERIES. We met Sean a couple of times in the first books of the series but he takes the lead in this book. He's been in love with his best friend for years, even after she became a mother and a wife to another man. He walks around in constant heartache until one day he meets the girl that takes his heart over. Aoife is just working in the US for the summer and then it's back to Ireland and her life there. Her life back home isn't something she really wants to go back to... except she has family and responsibility. When she meets Sean and falls in love she knows it'll just make it harder for her to leave... but she still has to. There's no other option...
Sean Ford is the quintessential contradiction! he's a tattooed bad boy whose into heavy metal and someone who, seemingly, doesn't particularly care about anyone's opinion...except his ''friend'' Lizzie but underneath it all he harbours a deep dark secret...this bad boy is nursing a broken heart and a tortured soul. When he meets the sassy Irish Aoife sparks immediately fly and they recognise a special kinship. Mullen has created a beautiful story out of the damage that unrequited love can cause, she's managed to show the scars and the potential damage without turning into a sorrowful story. This was well written and had moments of actual comical genius. I adored Sean and wanted to kick Lizzie's butt in his defence. Well done Alisa, you've done it again! 4 stars!!
I was given a copy by author for an honest review.
Unmarked is book 4 in the Chosen series but can be read as a standalone.
This is Sean and Aoife story.
You get to know Sean in the other book, he is Lizzie O'Malley's best friend and he has been in love with her for as long as he can remember.
Aoife decides to do a internship in Boston to get away from the life she knows. When she meets Sean at a Anniversary party she stays hidden and he wants to get out of there.
The two decided to leave and go somewhere and have a few drinks that's when they realize they have a connection.
This book will have you angry, speechless, and even wanting to cry.
I'm definitely looking forward to more books by Alisa!!
reviewer for MNP* I RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A HONEST REVIEW.
