Rylie has chosen the dark faery prince Kallan and has been swept away by the faery world. There’s much more to being the Aurorian than she knew. She continues to learn about the faery world and her connection to it. After several fey go missing, the time comes for her to take her place. Rylie is shocked when the investigation leads to the discovery of Satine, Kallan’s evil half-sister, who plans on completely destroying the light faery world.
This book wandered way above my expectations. From the first two books, I had expected it to be a quick book with no much development going on, but I was totally wrong. The story took on an exciting turn and the ending makes me want to pick up the sequel right now.
PLOT
We are once again back into the faery realm with Rylie, an Aurorian faery, or speaking in clichés – The Chosen One. Rylie learns more about her world, what it means to be an Aurorian fae, how important she is to their world, and more about the creatures that reside only here. With Kallan by her side, she goes on her quest to defeat the evil Satine and unite the light and dark faery world.
To say the world-building was good would be an understatement. About seventy-five percent of the total world-building and character development in the whole series takes place in this book which is what made it exciting. The romance was not much drawn-out and was perfectly handled. My only misgivings are the kisses. The lead couple kisses so damn many times! It’s embarrassing, gross even. I’m sure Rylie’s lips might look like this for real –
The climax was a bit abrupt though. After all it took to get there, it was disappointing. I got the vibe that the authors aren’t much into writing good action scenes or violence in general. It kind of felt childish to me. In fact the whole story, when you think clearly about it, is pointless and childish, full of loopholes. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The scenic descriptions were amazing and so were the beautiful fae world. Just the freaking turn the whole story took was impressive, since I never really expected much.
In short, if you’ve come as far as the second book in this series, please do pick this up soon. It is way much better than the other two. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Sayonara!
4.5 Stars: Wow, really great story. By the end, I could feel the attachment I had made with the characters and that feeling of really caring about them.
Again, I love the uniqueness of the story. I love where it's going and I love the originality of all the characters.
Character development!! I'm glad that many characters have developed, but I'm most impressed with Rylie's character. From the first book, she has changed so much! I like how she doesn't like standing at the sidelines while everyone else is fighting and sometimes she actually goes out there and fights with her powers.
I love love love the moral of the story and the unity of light and dark faeries. It's very strong and powerful.
While I enjoyed reading this book, I also noticed some little writing problems. At some spots, I felt like there was too much telling instead of showing. Instead of straight up telling what happens, put some sensory details so we can see what she is doing. (Rylie touched the earth. Vs. Rylie's hands weaved into the smooth grass and met with the soft earth, sending waves of harmony through out her body). Also, I noticed too many sentences began with "I". This problem's bound to happen, but an easy fix. (I held Kallan's hand and smiled. Vs. Holding Kallan's hand, I smiled.) It makes it flow more and the sentences sound more interesting and not all the same. Another thing I saw was a little bit of wordiness. A good thing to do is go over the writing and read I aloud. Anywhere you stumble and have a hard time speaking the sentence, you know it should be reworded. Lastly, there were points where I felt rushed. If you want to move that quickly, that's okay, but that means a sentence that wraps up the scene and a smooth transition should be in place.
Overall, wonderful book! It was so magical like always and I can't wait until I can read the next book! Keep up the great work!
P.S. as I read, I've been getting inspired to write my book I'm working on :) I mean every book I read does that in some way, but with this book it kept happening again and again :) I would read and then something would spark an idea and would have to write it down.
This was another good read in the series. Rylie is trying to balance life between both worlds. Then something bad happens in the faery world. She is then on a mission to help Kallan stop his sister from destroying the light world. Overall the ending was good. However, it will be interesting to see how things will turn out for her friend in the next book.
You won't be disappointed with this series! This was my favorite of the three so far and can't wait to finish with the fourth. Absolutely loved this book the way the story unfolded itself and how we got to see rylie grow from an immature girl to a strong capable faery leader. I actually liked to see all the changed and struggles she went through it made her stronger and more likable. She didn't just all of a sudden become this amazing faery with awesome powers and understand it all. She had to grow and learn on the way and develop, it made it all more believable. I recommend this series to any one and everyone who loves faeries, mystery, powers, fantisy, love, family, determination, and so much more.
This book was fine, but I felt the writing was a little weird. The characters said some unnatural sounding things, and the editing seem a bit rushed. There were a few times when I couldn't keep track of pronouns or who was speaking. I loved the plot and the pacing was good too. I just sometimes found myself pulled out of the world the author had created, and since it's such an interesting world, I was a little disappointed. I will definitely read the next book, though.
This series just keeps getting better and better! I loved this book! And of course cliff hanger, so I’m reading the next right away! But, the series is great so that was always the plan!
This is beautiful. It’s so hard when people think it has to be “dirty” to be good. This will forever be one of my favorite series. Riley and kallens come together is perfect and their fight for right and wrong is ALL
Although these are aimed at YA and I presume females, I am enjoying the series. Rylie and Kallan work together to take on a dark faerie who is trying to take over the faerie realms. less teen angst and more growing into her new life for Rylie.
I honestly don't know why I carried on reading this series ... I don't know why rylie was even the chosen one because she was still as selfish an self centered as she was in the last three books, demanding and not caring about others but her wants and needs. Azura was kind and patient through out the whole series and she treated her like sh1t just for saving her god damn life!
Another person that really annoyed me more in this book was rylie's best friend Sierra like wdh rylie had her own stuff to worry about an she was jus making everything about her and forcing her to make promises knowing rylie can't get out of them! I don't understand how people rated this god forsaken series 5 stars if anyone's looking for a way better series they should read Julie kagawa's series .
Really wasn't worth the many hours I sat up to read this nonsense.
I liked this one in the series. Riley got her backbone back. She has to stand up to some tough elders to make sure the world as they know it isn't destroyed by the long lost half sister of Kallan, that he didn't know about. She's taken her place, but she doesn't know exactly what that is, how do you take your place in a world that your not sure has a place for you? She's still learning what taking her place of leadership means. But when she sees the land dying, she does what she must. At the end she has a tough decision that puts a twist in the tire thing, will it make or break the strong bond they have? Will she survive it? Only time will tell. No one remembers it ever being done before.
I first started this series a while back when it was written by Talia alongside Julia Crane. I absolutely loved the series and couldn't wait until the release of the 3rd one. It did not disappoint. Love this series and Talia did a fantastic job continuing on her own.
I don't have that magical way with words for reviews so I will just finish off with saying I recommend this series. Can't wait to see what comes next.
I loved all three books that I read. If a book does not hold my interest after the first three or four pages, I will not read it. All three books were good. Now the only thing I did not like is when Serrea woke up. Is there another book coming. I hate know that it ends with her not remembering her best friend and the guy she loves. Anyone who likes the type of books would enjoy reading this series.
Great job. Rylie and Kallan finally figured out how to come together through the best and worst parts of the faerie realm. They finally got to feel what it was like to be in love and marry and Rylie learns what it was like to be the Aurourin Faerie and unite the light and dark faerie fey.
This was a fantastic followup to the first two books in the series written with Julia Crane. I adore these books and I loved this one. The guys are swoon worthy and the main character has depth. I'm looking forward to seeing if there will be more to the series or not.
i think it is just amazing. i can't wait for the next book of the series to come out so we can see if there is some way we can make Sierra's memories com back or make new ones where Rylie (Oleander) is still her best friend and Drake is still her boyfriend.
I chose five strawberries I really enjoyed reading this and the other books I hope the is another one to find out a about Sierra... I hope I spelled that right thank you for the good read
Still enjoying the series - easy reads with fun and new story. It's nice to read a book with good characters and a light storyline that keeps you interested. Going to go buy book 4!
I love this series. This author has a very vivid imagination . her gift of details makes you feel like you are right there seeing everything . I recommend these books to everyone
I. Loved. This. Book. This was by far my favourite book of the series so many twists! And the ending!? Well that completely blew me away! A fantastic read if I do say so myself!
Eternal Promise is an amazing read. I absolutely loved it and I couldn’t look away from the book until it ended. Loved the whole book. Definitely recommend this book to everyone.
Not a review just a question, does anyone know if there will be more to this series? It's just the way it ended I get the feeling there's more to come or is that just me?
