Nancy J. Farrier grew up on a small farm in the Midwest amidst a close-knit family and a large extended family. She loved farm life including the animals, cooking, gardening and canning, but not so much the cleaning house part. A little-known fact is that she preferred to help with feeding cattle or mending fence than helping with housework.

In school Nancy often got in trouble in history class for hiding a fiction book in her text book to read during the teacher’s lecture. Or, she daydreamed her way through classes, writing stories in her head instead of paying attention to the teacher. English and Literature were her favorite classes.

Now, a best-selling, award winning author of historical and contemporary Christian fiction, Nancy lives in the Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona and loves to research and include bits of history in her books. She often incorporates her love of the Southwest into her settings as the Southwest has a rich history that lends itself to fiction, and historical characters that come to life on the page.

Loved Pierce and Silvia's story!! Pierce and Silvia were an item, until they graduated high school. Pierce was going to stay in their hometown and take over his family's ranch. Silvia didn't want to be "stuck" in their hometown, she wanted to travel and do extreme sports after college. After Silvia left, Pierce joined the Army, was in Special Ops, and after failing to reach Silvia, he spent the next fourteen years in service. Now, he's returning home with a soon-to-be adopted daughter, Kianna. Kianna's father was Pierce's best friend, and now that Kianna's parents were killed in a car accident, Pierce is going home to take over the family ranch and raise his daughter. Silvia is back home after her husband and son were killed in a freak accident. Pierce has loved Silvia all these years, and when he sees her again, it feels as nothing has changed. Silvia has to try to come to terms with the loss of her husband and son, and is helping her father as he recuperates from a stroke. She did not want to see Pierce again, but she can't turn her back on him or his "daughter" so helps them, too. Silvia has to learn to trust God, and that she can't tell God what to do, she has to do what He plans for her to do. Kianna is a doll, and almost steals the show!!

Sweet second chance with the first love story!

Pierce is back home on the ranch with his soon-to-be adopted ward Kianna when he sees his high school flame Silvia back from traveling abroad. Silvia is helping her dad after a mild stroke while he is helping his mom after his dad died. Both are struggling to understand the changes in their lives, but realize the old feelings are still there. But Silvia plans to go back to her travels while Pierce is staying put now. Can they find a compromise or are they still at odds? Read this to find out.

The pace is leisurely and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character centered storyline that has no steam, just a few kisses. The characters are vibrant and endearing. The Christian ideals are woven into the story and move it along. Enjoy this ranching Christian romance. I hope to see the rest of Pierces family get a story too.

Pierce returns home to his family ranch after 14 years in the military, with a five-year-old girl – the daughter of his deceased best friend. He finds that a neighbor is trying to cheat his mother out of the ranch. Silvia also returns to her hometown to take over the family diner after her father’s stroke. They were once in love, but they hurt one another with their choices. Is the Lord giving them a second chance?

This is very enjoyable Christian romance with good Christian faith elements such as trusting God’s timing, enjoying His grandeur, and praying for direction.

This was a clean contemporary romance that took place in a small local ranching community. I enjoyed following along as the main characters got back together again after their misunderstanding. This book had a lot of emotions that both characters had to sort through, but not really any violence. I enjoyed the clean romance and the spunk that the fmc showed as she felt with her heartache. I received an ARC copy and this is my review.

The story of Pierce and Silvia just tugged at my heart. When I added in Kianna, I actually had to get some tissue to wipe the tears. The lovely setting of this story helped bring peace and hope into the lives that had experienced so much hurt. The story and characters have many layers that captivated my attention. The resilience and hope of the story helps the reader to anticipate healing through diversity. A very good read.

There comes a point in our lives where we get "stuck", how do we move forward from here? What path do I choose when my dreams just don't draw me like they used to? This book has a story of heartbreak, grief, love, and a cute little girl who will melt your heart. It was a great read and encourage you to give it a chance.
I recieved an ARC copy for my honest review.

What a beautiful, uplifting story! I lost myself in the world of Silvia, Pierce, and Kianna, and it filled me with joy as I read about the healing powers of love and faith. I sure hope there are sequels!

I paid full price for this book. Well worth it!
