She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.
So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. In Social Media, Part 1-3 event planner and twitter queen Grace Kinsella aka @FilthyBlueBird met her twitter muse, Hollywood heartthrob Vaughn Asher aka Master while on vacation.
In the roller-coaster that followed Vaughn relentlessly pursued for Grace to be his next sub, but requiring a NDA so he could act out all his debauched desires. He resorted to mind-blowing samples of his kinky sex, used twitter to taunt her and wasn’t below stalking and hacking to get what he wanted.
But along the way feelings entered the picture offering both clarity and confusion for these two self-sworn loners. Add to that their murky and traumatic pasts, secrets, villains and the paparazzi at every turn.
In Status, Part 4 Vaughn and Grace’s lives are in turmoil after part 3’s shocking ending. They make progress in their relationship much thanks to Vaughn persistency. But the world around them is in chaos and they can only remain cocooned for so long.
When some shocking truths are revealed their lives are set into another tail spin, yet nothing could have prepared them for the #MyBloodTurnedToIce danger ahead….

Vaughn Asher aka Master beyond impressed me in this installment. Eight words to describe Vaughn: Commanding, jaded, blasé, entitled, reflective, protective, unyielding, unpredictable and determined.
Grace Kinsella aka @FilthyBlueBird did not impress me as much in this installment. Yes there are mitigating circumstances so I’ll wait and see what happens with her next. Seven words to describe Grace: Unassuming, secretive, broken, strong, reflective, vulnerable and resourceful.
Status took everything to the next level and I heart Vaughn and everything he did for them. However in addition to me wishing Grace to step it up, I would have preferred Felicity to be a boy, just a more plausible adoption….
The secrets and surprises were expected so even though this installment had the biggest cliffy to date, it was something that needs to be dealt with before they can have a HEA and I sure look forward to putting it behind them sometime in part 5, Profile .

4 #OMG stars!
I just finished and I CAN’T EVEN… I have no idea how to write a review for this book. So much happens, so many moments that just threw me, and that ending…. that ending rocked me. I need the next book like yesterday!
So much more of Grace’s back story come to light. We get to see where she really came from and who she really is.
Vaughn doesn't know everything, but he knows Grace has been through a lot. He knows she is stronger than she thinks and he knows how he feels for her.
With each installment, I love Vaughn more and more. This guy surprises me in the best way with each one. The first book, he was a dick, but now, he’s just so damn lovable. He still has that edge to him, but his understanding and patience with Grace blows me away.
Secrets, mystery, suspense, steam and romance. It’s all bundled in this perfect little package with Status. I really thought JA would have a hard time topping Block. It was so much better than the first two for me, but I can say with certainty that this is my favorite so far. I love the concept of this story and how things have progressed. If you’ve only read the first or first two novellas in this series, you have no idea whats going to transpire and what it’s really all about. The twists were amazing and the writing was fantastic as always. Only two left and I can’t wait to see how all this ends, because quite honestly- I have no idea!

5 Oh Em Gee Stars
I swears…this series started as one thing, at least in my mind, and went a totally different direction. Do I like this new direction?
Vaughn and Grace have come a long way since meeting on the island, and we have learned so much about these two. Grace is more then a dirty tweeter and Vaughn is more then the self-centered movie star.
Status begins with Grace running away with Kristie. After her epic night with Vaughn, he is anxious to find her and make sure she is safe from the paparazzi.
We know Grace has been hiding things, more and more things are coming out about her past. As Vaughn learns more about Grace he wants nothing more to help her, save her.
This story is action packed with mystery and suspense. My favorite thing - as always I am thinking of all the possible scenarios, trying to solve this mystery and the characters begin guessing the same thing, debunking my theories. So I have no clue how things will play out, but I do know one thing: I will be surprised.
Now I am not sure how this possible, but amongst the butterflies in the stomach romance, the edge of my seat suspense, but Huss gave us change my panties sexiness.
Long story short. #impressed #keepsgettingbetter #hooked

5 #JAHussIsEvil Stars
We get so many answers in this installment. Grace's past, the one she has fought to keep hidden, gets exposed to the world again. Grace eventually opens up to Vaughn about her horrific past. She is vulnerable and scared yet strong and determined. Grace is a survivor! Now for Vaughn -I LOVE HIM!!!! The way he feels about Grace, what he does for her, what he says to her......he does what he thinks is best no matter what. HE IS AWESOME!!!!! I may have a tinny tiny crush on him.
This installment was fast and furious. The plot twisted and turned at every page. There was sadness, intrigue, suspense, hot sex, romance, there was a bit of everything. When I sat down to read, I couldn't stop. Even though this installment was pretty serious, Vaughn still managed to keep his endearing cockiness. It is quite charming when it is mixed with real feelings.
JA Huss is a genius. I love her writing style, I love her words and I loved her characters. I know I have 2 more books left in the series but I am already getting sad about the series ending. I can only imagine the wild trip she will take us on in the next book. Now I have to patiently wait for, Profile, after that wickedly diabolical cliffy. JA Huss you are pure evil but you are still.....

In this fourth installment Grace’s past (or part of it) was discovered by the media and the chaos is installed. Grace is trying to get away from all of it… and all it includes Vaughn.
But he isn’t a quitter and I swear you’re going to fall in love with him all over again with this book. He goes after her and decides it’s time for their relationship to be more than a contract and be a public and real one. He’s finally all in… he just needs Grace to agree with him… and she is being wined over, after all, she feels exactly the same.

While grace and Kristi are mourning the ashes of their fake almost-lives, all of Grace's secrets are coming to light... In a very public way...
And as a freakin dedicated non-spoilery reviewer, I'm not sharing those secrets with you here. *evil laugh* You'll have to read it for yourself.
Quite frankly, this series is shaping up to be hugely entertaining, so you should hop on the Social Media bandwagon anyway! ;)
This was an edge of your seat episode of the series. I thought that the last book had a nasty cliffhanger, but apparently I had no idea how twisted J.A. Huss could be...

We learn a lot more about Grace’s secret past in Status and let me tell you, it is not pretty... She’s not just the filthy tweeter we’ve all come to love, no, she is also this damaged and vulnerable girl who wants someone to hold onto at tough times.
Daisy is a victim. Daisy is weak, and sick, and pathetic. Grace is graceful. Grace is strong, and determined, and brave. I've tried so hard to put my past away. Just lock it up and forget about it. Be the new girl. Be Grace.

Now that her past identity is open for everyone else to see, the locks she put on her terrible memories is also broken, forcing her to remember who she once was and that she is still that little girl...

I can’t believe how much his character has developed! He was this sh*tty joke-of-a-dom and an arrogant a**hole, if you will. Now he is a loving and caring protector. He has a huge heart and I can’t help but melt at every sweet word that he utters.
"Don't let me go."
"I'll never let you go. Ever. I need this every day for the rest of my life."
"I love you, Grace. I love you. I don't even care if that freaks you out or whatever. It's real. And I'm saying it."

How is it possible that with every new book, this series gets even better? There’s no way you can predict the twists and turns coming your way and you’ll be stunned with the way the story keeps changing direction.
And don’t even get me started on the incredible writing!
J.A. Huss is obviously one of the most talented author’s I’ve had the privilege to read from.

This is where I’d normally give you a little run down as to what Status is all about, but guess what... nope.
Let me just say that I thought that Block was my favorite of the series so far... wrong. Status is. And I have a feeling that this same sentence is going to reappear with Profile and Home. When you read a book by JA Huss you expect to have the story take some twists, that the plot is just going to up and jump into a new direction that you never saw coming, but one that works perfectly. That is Status. That twisty shit that I love about her writing? The complexity of her characters and the ‘where the fuck did that come from?’ shit... well it was all over this one.
The misconception that this was some sort of BDSM serial has been put to rest. This book had all those little magic touches that JA Huss throws into her books.
Sexy. Suspenseful. And Twisty as fuck.
And Vaughn Asher? #PantiesGoPoof All that assholery that had me turned on, well his bits of vulnerability and sweet, not only turned me on but #TurnedMeInsideOut
Even knowing there is just a few weeks between now and the next release feels like forever. I can’t wait to get my grabby hands on Profile & Home!

Holy mother...I was not expecting this series to go that direction. In this part, we finally find out all about what happened to Grace. I was pretty damn shocked and so sad in the way that it all came out in the open. Now I kind of get why Grace is the way she is. Oh, Vaughn...I don't think he has every had to work this hard to keep a woman and it seems like he has his work cut out for him. I love him for his persistence and unwavering patience. I hope Grace will allow him to be the prince charming she has always wanted.

There are two sides to how I feel about Grace right now. I will start with the girl who gets the fucked up side of her. Every time I think I have a handle on where you are going, you throw something new at me that I never expected. Fuck you.
I had a great idea of what the cliffhanger at the end of BLOCK was, and I was correct. Which made me really happy! Because anytime I can puzzle out something that came from your cyborg mind, I feel good..I feel smart. Then you do something that makes me feel inferior all over again. Fuck you.
The unraveling of Grace's teenage trauma is not what I anticipated it to be. It's so sad, so heartbreaking, so damaging. Yet makes me understand her so much more. I see why she runs, I see why she fights and I see why she is equally obsessed with and terrified by Vaughn and his position in her life. It's tragic, really. Fuck you.
I've struggled to love Vaughn this entire series and I'm still not completely in his corner. Though I'm much closer to loving him now. Except I'm not sure I should. You might think you have J.A. Huss' Social Media series pegged. You might read the books' descriptions and pigeon-hole the series as a raunchy romp. While reading STATUS, you will realize that everything you thought you knew about this series was completely wrong. So, I'm going to do something a little different with this review. I'm going to clear up a few misconceptions for you (without spoilers, of course). Let's call it my good deed for the day. I feel like I need to do this, because I'm afraid there are people out there missing out on this completely, astoundingly amazing series because they think they know what it's all about already and pass over it in favor of something else.
Misconception #1: These are "erotica," "BDSM," etc. books.
This is only partially true. To slap the Social Media series with either of those labels would be doing it an incredible disservice. Is there sex in it? Hell yes. Is it explicit? Sometimes, but not always. Is there BDSM? A bit. There was in Follow (#1) and Like (#2). There was none in Block (#3) and Status (#4). In Status, Vaughn and Grace reconnect in an explosive way, and there's no doubt these two remain very attracted to one another. But, something has changed, and it's the depth of their feelings for one another. It completely colors the sex in a different light. That kind of growth is natural and necessary in any real relationship. It's what give this series real depth.
"I know that last night we were playing a little game with the word like, but I don't just like you, Grace. I'm falling in love with you. I am. I can't help it."
Misconception #2: The sex is the focal point of the story.
Ho my... are you in for a surprise. In the beginning of the series, it seemed as if Vaughn's sexual proclivities were going to take center stage in this story. Honestly, at times during my reading of Status, I completely forgot where these two started - with him fronting on that beach, trying to get in Grace's pants, and her playing hard-to-get. They are light years from that point by the time we get to this fourth book in the series. The story is no longer about that. The focus has flipped to something far more serious and dark. It's shifted to an outside, as-yet-uncontrollable force that threatens everything these two are trying to build. The sex is less frequent (though, no less nuclear), and more page time is spent building up these characters' pasts so that when the spectacular cliffhanger ending happens (do not groan - the next book is only two weeks away), it holds so much more impact.
She leans in and kisses me softly on the lips. It's just a quick kiss, one that you'd give someone who is familiar to you. A peck, really. But I swear to God, that kiss means everything to me.
Misconception #3: With the silly Twitter banter in the book descriptions, there can't be much substance within the pages.
Shut your face. Status is all about substance. It's been obvious for a long time that Grace didn't have the best time when she was younger. Everything that happened to her is finally laid out in tragic detail in Status, and I promise you, your heart will break for her. A hundred times over. It's when you get the full picture that you realize how resilient and incredible Grace is. You also understand completely why she acted the way she did with Vaughn when they first met and he tried to assert his control with her. But, it's not just about Grace. We learn so much more about Vaughn in Status too. How is motivations have changed, and what being in the spotlight really feels like to him, especially now that he has someone he loves to protect. You learn about the lengths that someone will go to in order to keep the ones they love close to them, both figuratively and literally. And, it will blow your mind.

Vaughn is working hard to be a puppetmaster, but he has no idea that he's someone else's marionette. They get a moment of safety and almost immediately it's snatched away. Time and time and time again.

So yeah, this one has a cliffhanger. I can't lie & tell you it doesn't. But it's soooooo good. Don't you love a little cliffy to get your heart racing and the anticipation building? I do. I really really do. As long as the next book is available or super close to available, I'm all in with a good cliff. It's only 2 weeks until book 5 and the series finishes with book 6 two weeks after that so dive in!
And not that this matters specifically... but these covers. These are my favorite covers all year. Just wow. The model. The font. The color blue (hi Julie!). I could eat these covers up all day every day. AND @jahuss makes these things her freaking self. Status is way different than any of them. It's emotional, "realistic", dramatic, hot , and all those other feelings you could think of.
We got to really see Asher's and Graces relationship develop more. Vaughn wasn't her fantasy anymore he was her reality.
“I don't just like you, GraceI'm falling in love with. you."
Graces problem turned out worser than I thought. It true we knew from the previous books that she was "broken" but I would've never imagined it being that....complicated, fucked up...etc.

I finally got to see the REAL Vaughn Asher. Asher isn't just hot-and-fuckable he's complicated, kind,sweet annoying as hell, loving, caring, understanding, and so much more. Even with all the thing grace is going through he's still by her said when she feels like she's about to fall he pulls her right back up.
“You’re not a victim, you’re a survivor.”

I am so glad I continued with this series cause I have to admit after Follow I was not feeling it at all! I was like it's ok....I mean I didn't hate it nor did I love it....it was just , ok... Each book in this series has gotten better and better and now I'm sooo hooked. I mean Grace's past is a mystery and it's become the focal point to this story.
Now Grace?? She still bugs me, but I do sympathize with her, I mean her past is horrific but shit that girl makes me want to do this :

In STATUS, Grace's past begins to unravel and we learn more about her past life as Daisy. Readers get in an inside depth behind the painful and traumatic life she led. Behind the tough girl image Grace puts up, we can understand now her motives, her fears, and her reasonings when it comes to Vaughn. Without giving much away to the storyline, this book must be experienced. It had so many surprises and twist and turns and I absolutely loved that about it.
As for the ending...OMFG!!!! I can't wait for Profile!!

I feel like I say this with every JA Huss book, but Jesus… she blows it up #EverySingleTime. STATUS rocked my world. Literally. I felt like I was on a freakin boat ride through a tropical storm. Mystery, intrigue, freakin hot as hell sex and Vaughn Asher who is without a doubt, a walking wet dream. We learn about Grace's past, and holy shit, I was totally not what I was expecting. But that's what JA does. She can take a novella and make you feel like you're reading a full length novel.
It's not all sex and dirty hashtags, although there is enough to make you lose your panties. There are so many twists and turns, your head will spin. I may lose my mind waiting to find out what happens and start drinking to pass the time! I am DYING for Profile! Can't come soon enough!!!

Wow! Did not see this coming! From the first book to this point, is a crazy ride that is for sure! Grace has secrets about secrets, her past is revealed in this book, I'm hoping this is all of it, the girl is a survivor!Vonn does that thing lots of guys do in these books, he does something to protect the girl, however he forgets to mention this to the Girl, and then there is #Miscommunication
