When Nisha’s husband shares his favorite daydream, she can’t stop thinking about what that means for their relationship… and whether or not she should take him up on his offer. Then Julian skips their couple’s yoga class and she’s paired with a stranger named Caleb, and she can’t stop thinking about Julian’s idea. About what it would be like to get a little naughty with someone who is not her husband. Then she discovers a bizarre Caleb and Julian used to be best friends. Determined to get to the bottom of their past, Nisha brings the two men to a beautiful cabin in the mountains, where she discovers that there’s way more to Julian and Caleb’s past than she realizes. And she’s not entirely opposed to reliving the past with them.
Hall Pass Rules was a fun and spicy MMF read that delivered exactly what I’ve come to expect from Kristin Lance—scenes that are both explosive and deliciously hot. I really enjoyed Julian, Nisha, and Caleb together, and the dynamic between them worked well, especially once Julian and Caleb’s connection came into focus.
That said, I didn’t feel as fully invested in their romance as I would have liked. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why, but the long-distance aspect of their relationship may have contributed to that slight disconnect for me. While the premise does echo Vacation Rules, the first book in the series, the second half of Hall Pass Rules introduced enough new elements to set it apart and give the story its own flavor.
Overall, Hall Pass Rules is an enjoyable MMF novella—steamy, easy to sink into, and definitely worth picking up when you’re in the mood for a quick and fiery threesome romance.
Julian and Nisha never planned to open their marriage. But one late-night message from an old flame leads to a conversation he can't ignore. He and his wife Nisha agree to a hall pass, one night, one partner, no strings. Then Nisha kisses a stranger at yoga. That stranger turns out to be Caleb, Julian’s former college roommate and the man he’s never fully let go of.
What starts as a thrill quickly becomes complicated. Boundaries blur, emotions rise, and the three of them find themselves tangled in a connection that challenges everything they thought they knew about love, identity, and commitment. Family pressure, long distance, and fear threaten what they’re building, but something deeper keeps pulling them back together.
Julian starts as a guarded husband but learns to embrace his full self. Nisha becomes the emotional center of the trio, constantly urging truth and connection. Caleb arrives carrying old wounds but opens up, finally admitting the love he hid for years.
Their relationship grows from experimental to intentional. What began as casual becomes something solid. Together, they create a dynamic rooted in trust, vulnerability, and the kind of intimacy that changes everything.
Steamy, MMF, open marriage, bi awakening, friends to lovers, second chance, ménage, erotic romance. It's about love, growth, trust, identity, communication, and what it means to belong.
I’ve greatly enjoyed Kristin Lance’s MMF stories. “Hall Pass Rules” has a nice twist in that at first the story starts off as a hot wife story. Julian’s best from college will be coming to town and with vague dreams of a possible threesome involving his wife and his friend, he recommends to his wife they consider a hall pass, a chance to fool around just once with someone else. Off Nisha goes to her yoga lesson, and once she spots an attractive man, she’s found her potential hall pass.
I actually would have liked the story to complicate things, mix the hot wife angle and the threesome story, but it turns out the guy she’s drawn to and kisses is Caleb, the former college roommate. And all three of them get together for dinner. From there the story goes in the directions you hope for of a good MMF story.
Kristin Vance knows how to build tension and to make us feel that this unicorn arrangement can actually happen. The sex through chapter eleven is really hot, and there’s a culminating threesome that truly feels like the relationship between the characters is being consummated. One of my favorite erotic scenes ever.
Another bonus is that Vance handles anal sex well, none of the cliché I’ll get used to the pain. People prep, use lube, help the bottom relax, take it slow at the start. It sounds like something you’d enjoy in real life.
Along with being a great work of erotica, there are strong emotional elements, mostly having to do with Julian and Caleb’s relationship in college and their lack of contact afterwards. Since Vance is so good with character, I yearned for this aspect of the story to be as well-crafted as the rest. As a blazing hot MMF story, “Hall Pass Rules” is great. I’m making my way through her backlist and looking forward volume three of the “Husband’s Best Friend” series. As a romance, “Hall Pass” probably needed one more draft to smooth out the emotional arcs.

Julian has a fantasy to let his wife Nisha sleep with another man. This fantasy stems from all the threesomes he had with his old college roommate, Caleb with other various women during their college years.
So when Caleb comes for a visit after not seeing him for about seven years, sparks fly between them all. And the three of them begin a relationship that's going to change their lives forever.
Pretty good. I'm really liking this series. I love MMF romances and have read many from Kristin Lance. But hers can be hit or miss for me -- some are really good and some miss the mark for me. This series has all the elements I like, so I'm really enjoying them.
I liked the second-chance sort of romance between Julian and Caleb. I love that they had all these threesomes in college because of a deep seated longing for each other.
I also loved the communication and trust between Julian and Nisha (who are married). I appreciated her hesitation while kissing Caleb even after she had Julian's permission. She really wanted to be loyal to him and I loved that.
And all three together were steamy, sexy and sweet. I liked that they had a long distance relationship for a while. It made things feel more realistic and satisfying when they finally came together in their HEA.
Overall it was a good MMF story. Steamy, good sex scenes, and the romance felt genuine and sweet. I will keep reading on in the series. Liking these a lot.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this immersive multi-POV novella as it explicitly illustrates the intimacy between all characters without neglecting the character depth and dynamics which serve to deepen the plotline. I found the pacing to be steady, avoiding unnecessary drag by making clever use of slight time jumps, keeping the narrative both tight and engaging. One standout element is the emotional weight carried by moments of realization—the way insights and vulnerabilities surface when the right dynamics align, making the erotic tension even more meaningful. The vibe here is immersive, erotic, tender, and adult wholesome, and the heat level is a solid 5—brace yourself for pearl-clutching, lip-biting scenes!
At its heart, this is a story about what happens when things left unsaid finally come to light years later, when the context and chemistry are just right. What begins as a “hall pass” quickly evolves into something much deeper, with the characters navigating tenderness, vulnerability, and genuine consideration for one another. I especially appreciated how the eroticism is elevated not just by the physical elements but by the emotional compersion and shared turn-ons of all parties involved.
The novella balances a solid plot arc with the satisfying expansion of Julian’s arc in particular, managing to enrich the emotional stakes without overcomplicating the flow. It’s the perfect pick when you’re craving the intersection of a heart-centered story with a TON of spice.

Kristin has a way of writing that both thrills you and makes you swoon at the same time.
We know we might have come for the description, it sounds fun and mysterious and full of naughty times to be had. I loved the love and closeness Nisha and Julian have. Its a deep, very connected, very passionate love between them too. Things are far from boring. Julian finds himself with thoughts of a past life in college and someone he just can't forget. He thinks maybe he can live that out again in some way to make him forget it, and Nisha is there to support it, even if she doesn't full understand it yet.
It felt a little fate having Caleb come back to town and happen to meet Nisha has yoga. The thing I loved between these three more than anything else in the book is the connection. The love. Its rooted so deep they have no idea who Julian and Caleb ever hide it. How Nisha just felt that instant connection to Caleb too.
This book has scenes that will make you sweat and cry at the same time. Its about the love we sometimes forget to see and how it can make you whole in a way you didn't know you ever went without before. A great read!
Kristin Lance’s Hall Pass Rules is a fun addition to the Rules for Throuple series and delivers the spice readers expect from this author. While the story is lighter on plot and doesn’t offer a lot of deep character growth, it still works as an entertaining, quick read that leans heavily into heat rather than emotional development.
Somehow, I completely missed this installment when I originally read through the series, which really speaks to how well these books work as true standalones. You can jump in without feeling lost, even if you haven’t read every title in order.
However, if you are familiar with the other stories in the series, you might recognize Chapter 12 as the bonus scene from Vacation Rules (showing what else is happening in the vacation rental while that throuple is in the hot tub). The epilogue also features a scene from Resort Rules, which is a fun surprise and a nice reward for readers who’ve followed the series.
Overall, Hall Pass Rules may not be the strongest entry in terms of story depth, but it’s still an enjoyable read for fans of the series who are looking for high heat, familiar dynamics, and a fast, steamy escape.
Julian, the married male lead, remembers the fun he enjoyed with his college roommate, Caleb, the second male lead, when they shared girls intimately. Now married to Nisha, the female lead, he fantasises about finding a third and introduces the idea to her, never dreaming that she’d find Caleb by chance in her yoga class.
It starts out as a fun exploration but soon they all want more…
This story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and erotic, contemporary, married couple and best friend, fling to more romance novella. I enjoyed Nisha’s openness to Julian’s suggestion. I enjoyed Julian and Caleb’s mutual explorations, and the erotic intimate scenes with all three present. I empathised with Julian’s reluctance to ask for more, and enjoyed the relationship they settled into.

Julian has had a fantasy involving another man and his wife Nisha and when he shares this with Nisha, she takes the opportunity to flirt and more with the hot guy in her yoga class. Nisha worries that their marriage is in trouble when she realises that Julian hasn’t used his hall pass but he hasn’t told her everything about his desires. In a strange coincidence it turns out that Caleb and Julian were best friends in college who used share women between them but there was something more then and it all comes out when they get together in a sexy, hot weekend together. I liked how it wasn’t immediately obvious that Caleb was the best friend. The uncertainty between them felt real and the sexiness was off the charts. Interesting that Caleb’s uptight brother might be the next story in the series.
Hall Pass Rules is Book 2 of the Husband’s Best Friend series. It’s a steamy, OTT, MMF, bi-awakening, smutty romance. Nisha and Julian have been happily married for 3 years. Julian ends up getting an email from an old college friend who brings back steamy memories, causing him to ask his wife about each having a hall pass. She agrees and ends up meeting Caleb at her yoga class, only to find out he was her husband's best friend and college roommate. They had fun sharing women back then until something happened. She's determined to bring them back together. This was another hot read from Kristin. The steam was steamy, the chemistry was hot, and the ending was happy. While this is an erotic read, I still found it very romantic with enjoyable characters.

The author said, in describing this book, that it had very little plot, and lots of spice. While that may be true, don’t think that the lack of plot means the writing isn’t top notch. It definitely is. Kristin Lance has a great writing style, and HALL PASS RULES is really a great read. Yes, there are certainly lots of, ahem, sexy times. But you still manage to get to know the characters really well. Nisha, Julian and Caleb were a great throuple, and the way they connected with one another was really beautiful. When you read this book be sure to have a fan handy. But also be ready to experience a very sweet, albeit unconventional, love story. Recommended.

This is one long constant session of sensuality that builds and ebbs as Julian, Caleb and Nisha explore their relationship and every position you could possibly imagine between three people. It's got great pacing, with interspersed flashbacks to the college days when Caleb and Julian first met and explored their kink together. The story turned me on intensely and had me on edge the entire story. Now to go take care of that built up heat and prepare myself for what I hope is the next story in this series, between Marcus, Juniper and Tristan. Can't wait to see how their story unfolds, because I know it's going to break Tristan and I'm going to love every second of that.

"This feels different," Caleb said, his eyes darting between us. “Before, the women were never anyone’s partner.” Julian laughed. "You're not intruding when you're invited. Get over here and touch my wife."
I loved this book. It was a fun, and steamy romance. I loved Nisha, Julian, and Caleb and the dynamic between them. I also liked the history between Caleb and Julian. I liked that Caleb never forgot Julian from their college days, and while Julian pushed that part of himself aside for his wife, once Caleb emailed him, all those memories can flooding back and set the path for something new. The chemistry between the three of them was scorching. Kristin Lance knows how to bring the heat! I couldn't get enough! 5 stars.
First, be ready for a super steamy book. It has a little drama, but it mainly focuses on the relationship between Julian, Nisha, and Caleb. Julian and Caleb went to college together and shared many wild times. Now, seven years later, they have lost touch with each other. Nisha marries Julian, her true love, which is when Caleb comes back on the scene. It isn't long before they are recreating their wild college years, only now in a committed "throuple." This is a fun book that is super steamy!

Steamy, emotional, and full of heart—this story is a beautiful exploration of love, desire, and connection.
When Julian reveals a long-hidden desire, his wife Nisha is hesitant but open. Then fate brings Caleb—Julian’s old college flame—back into their lives, and sparks fly in every direction. As the three navigate their past and present, a deep, passionate bond begins to form.
This isn’t just about heat (though there's plenty of that)—it’s about rediscovering love in its rawest, most honest form. A heartfelt, spicy, and unforgettable read!
When Julian suggests a “hall pass” to his wife Nisha to spice things up, what neither of them expects is a blast from the past. But where does Caleb sit in their lives? As a fling… or something more? I really enjoyed how adventurous these three were, and how willing to be open and vulnerable they could be with each other. This series is really turning my crank and I’m glad there’s more to come!
★”We have an arrangement.A hall pass”…”Fascinating.”★
With her husband Julian’s declared fantasy fresh in her mind, Nisha attends yoga class with a certain partner in mind, never suspecting he was actually someone from Julian’s past. Determined to get to the bottom of his secrets, she makes plans to expose them, and while she is at it, why not explore their sense of adventure in the bedroom…Steamy couple fantasy novella
I love a good throuple story. So hot! Bush’s and Julian are married but find out Caleb, Julian’s old college roommate is gonna be a perfect fit with them. Just reading what they have to get to their happily ever after is amazing!.

I liked how an email reaching out to an old friend leads to a steamy three way relationship full of love for Nisha, Caleb and Julian. Julian might have made the suggestion but it was Nisha who made it happen and opened up possibilities.
This is a short spicy book where the husband and wife decided to explore what happens when they introduce another man to their bed. That man ends up being the husbands best friend from college where they would share women. This is an unconventional love story with a great HEA.

This was another great read that, while plot light, is full of character development and plenty of spice. Julian has a secret wish that he finally airs to his wife, Nisha. She made it happen and a one-night fling turned into so much more with his old college buddy, Caleb. I'm really enjoying the this hot and steamy series and look forward to the next book :D
Omg . So good. She meets a new guy in her yoga class that gives her the tingles. So she sets a little plan in motion when she finds out that he and her husband once knew each other. Now it’s time for a little playtime.

When Julian's college friend and roommate Caleb visits town he and wife Nisha are quite flexible with ways to keep him entertained. Another sizzling and scintillating hot read in this threesome series.

The story is soooo hot 🔥. But I love the character development and I also love the fact that the feelings the two male characters, Julian and Caleb, felt for each other goes back since their college days but they just refused to acknowledge it.
