About the Judicator Jane is an isekai (portal fantasy) LitRPG set in an expansive universe rich with history. The forces of good and evil stand at the precipice of apocalypse. Will Jane find the answers she seeks? Or will the unforgiving world, harsh trials, and the burden of carrying a horrific power corrupt her innocent spirit?
I truly love this series. Hooked since Book 1. The writing started out excellent and has only gotten better. Contrary to some complaints by other reviewers, there >is> character growth. It's just more nuanced. Both Pogg and Jane, >especially> in this book, have begun to see there are unexpected consequences from their actions. Pogg and Jane are both quite young. Jane can be impulsive to a fault and this is amusingly played out toward the end of the book. But she is also forced to make some hard decisions, the kind life hands us from time to time. Pogg makes a very bad decision, but follows it up with a very good one.
I read Jane 5 in one day - in Jane 6 I took more time because I wanted to savor the book longer. Let's face it - we can read them faster than the author can write them.
The cast of characters continues to expand; the world continues to get more interesting and complex.
In this book, I feel the author does more foreshadowing - but is also setting up expectations - only to surprise us with a twist later on. I don't think we'll see the resolution between Pogg and Jane in #7. Jane has a long way to go to get back to Arcadia and the tunnels are certain to hold some surprises. Pogg has his own issues and is likely to have consequent setbacks.
I recommend the series and I also recommend starting with Book 1. Each book is contingent on the previous book.
Wow! After readin a couple of cozies, I was needin som'min to soothe my action lovin heart! And boy! This was it! The. Best. Book. Evarrr!!! Jane and her Demon Horde had finally escaped from Netherrealm the moon prison. I kinda sorta thought that this would be the series fanale, but turns out I was mistaken. If it takes a whole book for Jane and her Horde to travel the continent trying to get back to Arcadia so be it! I loved every mesmerizing minute of this grueling trek! And oh man the quest Jane received is a doozy. So hallelujah future me gets at least one more book to enjoy! So yeah grab this dynamite book and enjoy!
Here's some quotes for ya:
“Holy cow… you’re just like that guy from Terminator. The T-1000!”
"In his hands was a wooden plate with a large, sad-looking brown fish curled up like it had died twice."
"But like it or not, this living snooze button is about to get dragged, kicking and screaming, into a life of chaos he can’t spreadsheet his way out of!"
I've always been hooked since the first book, and I couldn't put this down until I finished it days after getting it. The curse of reading fast I suppose, but then again that only occurs when I'm really immersed in a good story. The character development and world building has been phenomenal. The shifting pov's are always very well done, each one woven together, and furthering the story at a great pace. The only bad thing now is waiting for the next book. I eagerly await book 7 and definitely will wishlist it as soon as I see it pop up on here!
Six books in, and I would expect SOME character growth. I have not gotten it. Instead, the line between comedy and idiocy had been blurred and walked over repeatedly. What was funny in book one had become stale by book six. This is a classic case of grow or die. Going from five stars to one star, well, you can see which way this went.
Not sure if this is a filler book or something? It was the first book so far that I found boring. I had a hard time getting into it and kept putting it down. I had to remind myself why I liked the series and why I should keep reading.
This episode moves fast with Jane moving her demon horde and motley tag alongside on a mad headlong drive through a hostil e continent. Jane retains her moral compass as her powers grow.
The antagonist believes they are good as they are becoming more evil. Whereas the protagonist leads demons but is quite good. The dichotomy of this series is great.
Series has been going downhill since the 3rd one. Was hoping this one would turn it around after the last one but nope. All the pogg stuff should have been wrapped up in book 4, none of that holds any interest.
