El caos que traes: Romance lésbico

Rate this book

¿Cuánto puedes desear a quien desea tu ruina?

2.5 rounded up.

What I liked:
- great dialogue and banter
- hate sex is an underused trope and was done really spicy here

What I didn’t like:
- these characters are both assholes with no real redeeming qualities.
- so much internalized misogyny across these characters. Constant referring to the other as “bitch” or “slut”. Don’t bring patriarchal shame and judgement to a sapphic book!
- cheating. I don’t care if it was a m/f relationship disrupted by a sexual awakening. It’s still cheating.
- very dubious consent in a couple of the early encounters.
- telling, not showing how the hate turned to love. The two mains getting together was not believable
- can we please normalize therapy for childhood trauma instead of creating characters who recreate their high school pettiness into their 30s?

This book definitely classifies as a bully romance. Trigger warning for racist comments about one of the MCs. Everyone was mean. It had its funny moments and loveable characters (Elena, Sarah, and Nora). I think the story could have done without the Gareth drama towards the end. Not the outcome of Gareth and Lily’s relationship but the video and threats. It was unnecessary and it makes you hate the fact Lily is now stuck with him.

OK, I don't make it a habit to review books I don't like, because they are all someone's baby, and I know how hard authors work. However, I felt this book deserves a warning. I gave it 7 or 8 chapters and simply could not finish. I get enemies to lover is a popular trope, and have read and enjoyed quite a few. But the two MC are absolutely unlikeable to the point of being vile. I gave up after what was arguably sexual assault that resulted in physical assault. If this is your jam, go for it, and I hope you enjoy it, but for me, life's too short, and there are too many other books to read.

1.5 stars I rounded up but will probably change later. I finished this for reasons still unknown to me so for that it got an extra star. Everyone is an asshole. High school clique still reigns and the core group of characters all are 26 going on 16. Why anyone chooses to live here is beyond me. This is a toxic bully romance and if that is your thing, you’re in luck.

SPOILERS- The ending tried to tie a HEA bow on crap package. Vicky, Lily and the ex boyfriend (who was cheated on but then became blackmailer revenge pornographer) are forever tied together and honestly? They all deserve each other. Enjoy your shitty ever after.

Loved!

Loved it! A complex yet not drawn out story ready it non stop from beginning to end. The tension the slowish burn lol I will deff be adding this to my read again category. Beautiful second chance, enemies-ish to lovers. Real and honest story where not everything can be black and white and in love we aren't always so mature in fact it brings out our childish side. 10/10 would read again.

¿Me quejo?

Are you kidding me

You know I actually really liked this book about 76% through it was leaning towards 5 stars. But then the fmc Lily finds out she’s pregnant from the ex-bf who’s not a good guy at all. It’s just so frustrating… I can’t even explain. Because yes you do want them to be together and have a happy ending but you still don’t feel like there’s a happy ending because of this pregnancy. Like what the hell.

I could also touch on the rampant homophobia, racism etc throughout the whole book and even from Lily herself. But i’ll just leave you with a quote Lily said that made me wanna drop this book (I should have). “Your kind has always been very good at physical labor.” After sex this was said, after one character just gave the other oral.

But overall the writing was good the tension throughout was good. If you wanna read it I would go up until 70%. And then just stop reading or pretend she got abortion, because apparently that wasn’t option? Ughh

If I could give it zero stars I would. I made it about 1/3rd through this book before I had to call it quits. I think there’s enemies to lovers with hate sex and then there’s whatever this book tried to be. The two main characters are flat out awful, the sexual content felt gross and inappropriate given how some of it was flat out sexual assault and then there’s the infidelity.

I don’t know how the book ends but I’m not optimistic about enough happening to make up for the first act being what it was.

Um…. I wish Goodreads would allow for 0 stars… this was just bad. Both women were absolutely horrible people. Throw in sexual assault, cheating, and racism and you have a recipe for DNFing at chapters 7. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

it was touch and go..

You might have had a moment in high school that unfortunately the meanest girl in school witnessed. It ruined Vicky’s childhood because the moment was with the popular Lily. Naturally everyone thought you were the bad guy.

Now years later you’re back in town because you find out after the fact your mother was dealing with cancer fortunately now in remission. And Lily is now the town doctor still as hot as ever and you’re still crazy about her.

There are complications she’s dating a dud in your opinion not good enough for her, you can both barely be civil to each other but the chemistry is undeniably. Add small town gossips, not completely trusting each other more drama then you can imagine and you’ve good a great story.

This book was beautiful in all of its inclusion of homophobia, nuance, hidden feelings, and racism but the end was atrocious! Only girlfriends? With an addition or added complication to their “relationship”? I NEED MORE! Like a few more chapters and this book would have been 5 stars! Anyway, still a great overall.

They bring out the worst in each other starting in high school and years later after Victoria comes back to town. I wasn't a fan of the hurtful racist things that were said by Lily and her mean girl high school group, now grown up. I do love a story where poor small town girl comes back into town as someone successful. Hopefully there is a sequel to this story.

Confusing and lovely

This was definitely an interesting read. A setting that was very interesting, while somehow unlikely. Anyway, thanks to the happy ending, I quite enjoyed the book.

I enjoyed this read. There were definitely some parts that were odd, and this fell into Tiktok bully romance in the cliched high school kind of way. Which was weird given these are grown women. I did like how this romance played out, I would read another book by this author for sure.

laugh out loud funny!

This book is such a fun read! It made me laugh throughout and was so hard to put down that I stayed up late into the night. These characters - all of them- are irresistible!

Really enjoyed this feisty romance. Spicy. I thought the back & forth insults a little drawn out, they could have ended sooner but overall I liked this book.

This was a really good book. I like how they hated each other but yet could stop wanting to be together and in the end they got want they both wanted.

Lily, town doc, is out with her friends when she learns Vicky Mendoza is back in town. Once upon a time they had a thing, but it ended badly. r.

Vicky's mother underwent cancer treatment without telling her, and now that she knows she wants to take care of her. More annoying, Lily is her mom's doc, meaning she has to deal with her.

Ouch. Lily and Vicky made out in high school, Lily was into it, then Joan arrived and Lily instantly acted like Vicky was raping her and wrecked her reputation in the whole town.

While I like enemies to lovers, this feels like hatefucking.

Lily, not telling your boyfriend you're not into him anymore is going to bit you on the ass. Oops, it did.

3rd act breakup, then end.

Yeah, not really my sort of book. 2.5 stars for it being ok and no huge issues.

Excepcional

Genial
