Trapped by the advancing fungal growth, Charlie, Steven and Jack attempt a desperate gambit - one that may have dire consequences for them all. Meanwhile, Stacey, Caroline, Lindsey and Grace's preparations take a disturbing turn when they come face to face with more dangers than they could have possibly imagined in Book 2 of End of Seasons.
From 4-million-copy bestselling author Mike Kraus comes an explosive new thriller End of Seasons.
In the rugged Colorado Rockies, three generations - grandfather Charlie, father Steven and grandson Jack - are on their yearly camping trip when they receive a mysterious text message from home warning of a strange catastrophe. With communications down and half of the country standing between them and home, every mile becomes a battle for survival and a race to get home before the world is swallowed by the mysterious new threat.
Meanwhile, at their family farm in Virginia, Stacey Winters, her daughter Grace, her mother Caroline, and her sister-in-law Lindsey struggle to prepare for the nightmare sweeping toward them. As society unravels, they must protect their home and somehow fortify against an enemy that cannot be explained, reasoned with or stopped.
With each passing hour, the threat grows farther, faster, and deadlier.
There are no second chances.
There is only survival... or extinction.

If Bosch created a fungus... Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2025 The Creeping Rot, book 2 in the End Of Seasons series by Aiden Cross and Mike Kraus, picks up right where The Growing Dark left off, with Steven, Charlie and Jack trying to make it out of an abandoned barn as the rot tries to overtake them, while, back home, the rest of the family prepares for the spores they know are coming and for other dangers. As with The Growing Dark, the writing is excellent, leaving very vivid mental images of the fungus and the fight to kill/escape it. Devastating choices must be made, with repercussions that will be felt for the rest of the series. The fungus itself is a unique antagonist, sharing characteristics of plant, animal and fungus and no known way to kill it, only to slow it down. This is an exceptional and unique series that fans of apocalyptic thrillers should be clamoring to read! 5/5 stars, a series that can appeal to a huge audience and I can confidently recommend to nearly any audience!
This is an interesting post apocalyptic story. I love the premise, wild fungus eating the world, but the speed and description of the fungus growth seems inconsistent. At first it’s described as moving only 3 ft per hour. Then it’s practically chasing people. And I am sorry, I am a Mike Krause fan and usually his mc’s are smarter, these characters have done so many TSTL moves and decisions that I was gritting my teeth in frustration. But I’m invested now, of course I am going to read the next one.
This is a really great second part to this exciting & well paced series! I really enjoyed it all, the characters are a really good, balanced selection, interesting ideas, as there is always something to hold the interest going on! A really great read!
This continues a good series and the action ramps up both in Virginia and on the road. Some distressing events occur too. I’m still a bit skeptical as to how this disaster happened all over and at the same time, but in the interest of a good story, I accept it for now.
A very unique protagonist takes my breath away. As the people try to find some way to stop it and resist a prompt and horrible death, I found myself reading faster, unable to put the book down, so will you, dear reader.
What an amazing book that will keep you intrigued. A strange fungal growth that just keeps coming. Will it ever stop and will anyone survive this. Definitely not to be missed.
