She started writing in 2005 but never published anything until 2015 when she decided to bite the bullet and just do it. She's grateful for all the amazing people she got to meet through her passion for writing.
The 'Last Hangman MC Series' is the one that made people find out about her but since then she released a contemporary series - Love At Firsts - and a dark gory thriller trilogy - The Reaper Trilogy - which people have compared to Stephen King on crack — thing she's rather proud of.
Some of her favourite things include snowy days, live music, horror movies, ghost stories, travelling and of course, a cosy day spent with a good book.
Feel free to keep in touch with Muriel, she loves to hear from her readers.
I tried.. I really tried to get into this storyline, the plot was solid enough but felt amateurish! It lacked the emotional agony and turmoil you'd expect. If anything I saw a young women who had been the victim of a violent crime runaway from home, leaving behind family and friends to ensure the heinous acts couldn't be repeated. But when she returns, despite being fearful she accepts going out to diner by a man whose manipulated her. The whole thing screamed predictability throughout the story. From the attacker, to the skanky slut hanging all over the current residing president and the framing of the former. As for what happened to Ayden, I expected more of a melt down. Not going into the six years of her building herself up and not dealing with what happened that fateful night. To being manipulated by a stalkerish guy, or bowing down to peer pressure, then nearly succumbing to being victimized. And the back and forth of her loving her childhood friend to wanting to push him away. It all seemed robotic, here is this event, now we're jumping to next. At times the storyline lagged with repeat fluff and fillers. Last but not least is Anthony, president of an MC biker club! He's about as dangerous and ruthless as a hemorrhoid. Both are a pain in the ass and serves no purpose. Maybe I'm stereotyping but when it comes to an MC I thought they went like this "We're not Jax Teller, from Sons of Anarchy. We don't have a conscious so we'll kick your ass first, talk about it later, and that's assuming one of my brothers doesn't put you to ground! So read at your own risk!
This is Muriel Garcia’s debut novel and what a great debut it is. It was wonderfully written. I really love reading MC books and this one was no exception, the book has drama, suspense, betrayal, first love, second chance love and crazy stalker sex buddies. We get a lot of twists and turns, surprises, steam sexy scenes and a totally hot biker male who is totally alpha. This MC book has some serious subject matter that some might find disturbing. The author handles the topic of rape in a way that was tasteful.
In the first book in the series we get Ayden and Anthony’s the story. They grew up in the Last Hangman’s Mc and have been best friends since they’ve been young. After years of hiding their true feelings for one another, Anthony decides to tell Ayden how he really feels about her on her 18th birthday. Neither one knew they shared the same feelings. Just when Ayden and Anthony, start their “new” relationship something terrible happens to Ayden. Things will never be the same.
"I know we are young and have our entire life in front of us, but I know my feelings for you are real. I can’t help how I feel.”
“I love you too Ant. I always have.”
Ayden is forced to leave her home, her family and Anthony in New Orleans and start a new life in New York City with no explanation or goodbye to anyone she loves. Anthony, the MC and her family are left wondering what happened and why Ayden is so distant. Realizing the life she leads in not enough, Ayden returns to New Orleans. All her will power to keep Anthony away proves futile as Anthony has never gotten over Ayden. She is the only woman he has ever loved. Anthony wants answers, he wants to know what happened to her and why she ran. He is willing to do anything to get her to talk to him.
“I don’t want to talk to you and I don’t have anything to say to you.”
“Oh trust me, we will talk. Like it or not Sweet Cheeks, it will happen. I promise you that one day you’ll listen to what I have to say and be on the back of my back and wear my name. It will happen. I’ll just have to wait for you to open your eyes and stop being your stubborn self.”
Anthony is a big bad biker but when it comes to Ayden he is sweet, caring and loving. He is pushy enough to get her to talk to him and tears down the walls she’s built up around her, but he is also patient and kind when she finally reveals what happened 6 years ago. Ayden is strong and confused. She is also shocked to see that Anthony does not see her as damaged but as the woman that owns his heart. Together Ayden and Anthony are strong and indestructible. When they finally face their demons and let their love for one another back in there is nothing that will ever keep them from being together again.
“Tell me what happened to you, what as so bad that you had to leave me and out as much distance as possible between us.”
“It wouldn’t have changed anything Ant, I’m damaged.”
“Don’t say that, you’re not. I have no idea how you fell or how you’ve managed to cope and get through it on your own, but I’m here for you now. I’m never letting you go or letting anyone else hurt you.”
Anthony and Ayden, have finally gotten their second chance at true love. When Ayden’s past comes back to threaten all that she and Ayden have accomplished they are in the fight for their lives. Anthony and Ayden will rely on each other, the MC and friends to help fight against an unknown enemy. Can Anthony keep Ayden safe this time around or will he lose the only woman to hold his heart? Will Ayden have her forever with Anthony or will her past take everything away from her again? Can the Last Hangman MC keep Ayden and Anthony safe or will this be the end of the MC? This book was truly a fantastic beginning to a new series and I can’t wait to see what the next book will bring.
This is a debut book from Muriel Garcia and I think it shows promise of good things to come from this author. It is an MC titled book but I found the MC element to be more of a background to Ayden & Anthony’s story. It carries a warning that it is of a darker nature and the author very quickly pulls you into the darkness of this read so heed the warning.
Ayden is the daughter of the President of the Last Hangman Motorcycle Club and has her eyes on a young member of the club, Anthony who also happens to be her lifelong friend. Finally on her 18th birthday Anthony makes the move Ayden has been dreaming of and they become a quite sweet couple. Just as they are settling into their new relationship and ready to take things to the next level their plans are thrown for a loop and in an instant are torn apart. Ayden disappears mysteriously and it is truly harrowing to share that experience with her at the hands of an unknown man who is clearly deranged and out for revenge. After fleeing her attacker Ayden hastily leaves town with the threats and fear of her abductor pushing her away from her life her family and the club.
Six years later Ayden has returned back home and is making a career working at a marketing company but she is clearly still living in fear. She keeps herself distanced from the club and so also from Anthony who is perplexed by the events surrounding Ayden’s disappearance and why she chose to leave but he is clearly still in love with Ayden. Eventually after helping Ayden out with a difficult situation the pair make tentative steps in repairing their friendship and Ayden finally reveals the reasons she left town. Anthony is rocked to learn Ayden’s story and of her fears and so vows to himself that he will do anything to keep her safe.
However things don’t go so smoothly and as Anthony makes attempts to track down Ayden’s attacker she stumbles across some evidence that can help release a club member from prison. Events quickly take a startling turn and Anthony’s vows are quickly put to the test but can he save Ayden this time??
Have to say I think the author did a great job in keeping the reader guessing as to who the attacker was throughout the book. I did find some of the inner dialogue of the main characters a little repetitive at times and did question some aspects of the story but all in all I think this is a really good debut book and look forward to more in this series.
I went through a phase of reading biker books. I thought I'd give them a break for a bit until this book popped up. I'm so glad I read it as it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Anthony and Ayden grew up together at the Last Hangman MC. Just when their true feelings come out and they start dating Ayden runs away. When she returns can Anthony break down the barriers she's built to protect herself? Will Ayden tell Anthony why she left? Will they find happiness?
Really great story of second chances. I found it gritty and suspenseful. Lots of twists had me gripped. Looking forward to reading more of this series.
" I didn't have time to wash my hair so dry shampoo will have to do. I spray some on my head and look like a crazed woman. Really, it's hilarious, remember that Cat Lady in The Simpsons with the explosion of hair? Well that's what I look like right at this moment."
^^^ When I read that I laughed so loud. I totally remember that crazy lady, so It was a great way for me to actually picture what she looked like. :)
I received an ARC of Saving Ayden in exchange for an honest review. Was this a hard book to read? Yes, but not in the sense that it was horrible. It was hard due to the subject matter. There is rape and abuse. Ayden is a very strong woman. Regardless of what she was put through she kept going. Yes, she didn't do it in a very healthy manner, but she did regardless.
Ayden had everything going for her. She was with the guy of her dreams, and they were about to go away together for the weekend. When she was taken. Taken for a week, used and abused. Losing her innocence, feeling helpless, barely hanging on. Everytime he touched her she wished it would just end. Why would someone do something so brutal? Luckily though she was able to get away. BUT things didn't go back to the way they were. She was scared, she was threatened. So, she left. Went to college. Got her degree. Every day was a struggle. Nights were the worst. People were always looked at as a threat. So relationships let alone friendships were out of the question. She was living, but yet she wasn't. After 6 years she finally returned home.
Returning home though brought it's own struggles. Memories. The people. Relationships. In particular one man...Ant. ;) This man let me tell you, he will not give up. He wants what he wants and he will get it. He must be patient though. He sees the changes in his Ayd. He wants to know why she left. He wants to put the smile and life back in her eyes. Although there is a man named Michael. He gets in the way. Ayden works with him, and I won't lie. From the very beginning he gives me the creeps. My gut is screaming "RUN!"
There is a lot of action, a lot of pain, a lot of strength, a lot of moving on. There is tears, love, smiles, friends, family. Etc. It's a really great story. A story that no matter what happens to you, you can overcome it. You just need the right people in your life to help. Always talk about it, as hard as it is to do so, it's for the best.
So if you haven't already get your copy today and read Ayden's story. <3 <3
After growing up together Ayden and Anthony have proclaimed their love for each other. In one instant Ayden's life is changed. She can't cope with what has happened to her and chooses to leave Anthony and her family behind and start a new life in New York. Six years later she returns home and Anthony vows to find out what happened to her and win her love back. This story is raw, gritty, and full of angst. This dark read contains rape and violence but the author does a great job of writing about it in a delicate way.
"Oh trust me, we will talk. Like it or not Sweetcheeks, it will happen. I promise you that one day you'll listen to what I have to say and be on the back of my bike and wear my name."
Because of the violence in Ayden's past she is a shy person and has a hard time dealing with people. Her family, Anthony and The MC rally around her. The best part of the book is watching Ayden come out of her shell and become a strong women. She is haunted by the past but soon learns how to deal with it. Anthony was heart broken when Ayden left but as soon as he sees her he knows he still loves her and sets out to show her. He is protective of Ayden and soon helps her deal with her demons. The secondary characters in this book are also well developed.
The story focuses on tragedy, strength and true love. The MC does play an important part in the story but is written in the background. Ms. Garcia does a great job of handling a delicate subject in her writing. There is suspense throughout the whole book. When Ayden finds out who frames her father the story really heats up. There are twists and turns throughout the book. When you find out who the bad guy is you will gasp. This story will keep you guessing and feeling right until the end. I can't wait to see what the future holds for The Last Hangman MC.
I received a gift copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and reviewed for Stories and Swag Blog.
I love bikers books,it's one of my favorite genre and from the blurb i expect this to be 5 star for me,but in the end it is solid 3 stars. My issues with this book: -writing,i know it's debut novel for the author but while i read i have feeling that the book is written by 15 years old ,dialogue and monologue is written in simple way,i don't know how to describe it but it just will not blow you away. -Story plot issue -I hate when people add reviews and say book does not have touch with reality,so what? That's why we have books to distract us from the real world. But in this book author imagination bother me a lot.First thing you daughter is kidnap and missing one week and when she show up bruised and in terrible state, and you let her go pack her things and go for New York without explanation?.Second-when you write about bikers remembered they are outlow,i want my bikers hero to be raw, dirty and little bit jerk, not to have second jobs and work like normal men from 9 to 17. -the last 30 pages i must admit i skipped because it bored me.
**NO SPOILERS** Loved reading Saving Ayden, different from the usual MC books I have recently read, good characters in Ant & Ayden (you get to know them and love them) good plot, well thought out, you can tell that the author has poured her heart and soul into making this book, Muriel Garcia well done excellent book can't wait for the next installment, there was a few mistakes bit this didn't stop me from enjoying the story.
A good book. Not the best but not wasted time either. Planning to continue with the series. I rather enjoyed it and the H and h were great together. I've read several with the same plot but this one had a little twist. For the most part you could easily figure out who was the bad guy and who was thrown in just to try and fool you. I guess my only issue with the book was the narration was pretty simple. Not a whole lot of me as a reader feeling their feelings. I have hopes that the next one will be a little more feelings. Warning:. Rape
Saving Ayden is Muriel Garcia's debut novel and it's a debut novel I have been waiting to get my hands on for quite some time. As soon as I got the book through I left my book I was currently reading as I was desperate to read Saving Ayden. Saving Ayden is more of a darker story, there is violence, sex and rape throughout the book to give it a more gritty, raw edge to other books in this genre. I felt the author wrote the delicate subjects extremely well and handled the subjects with care. Even though Saving Ayden is a dark and gritty story, it is also a romance story, and story of friendship and new beginnings. Ayden is a character that you will want to see succeed and be happy. She is very shy and quite weak because she has suffered abuse and all the abuse has worn her down to a person she doesn't recognise anymore. Throughout the book you see Ayden really start to become stronger and stronger and watching her character grow and develop was one of the best parts of the book. I was really rooting for her to be happy and get everything in life she wanted and needed. Ayden grew up in the MC world and her best friend was Anthony who grew up in the same world as Ayden. I can imagine growing up in a MC world would be very difficult and very dysfunctional, but Ayden and Anthony had each other so nothing else mattered. Over the years of being so close their friendship turns to more. They both admit their feelings they have for each other and arrange to meet to spend the night together, but that night doesn't happen and everything around them both changes. Ayden disappears leaving hearts broken and confused. Unfortunatly for Ayden the years away from her true love and her startng a new life doesn't turn out well and between leaving Anthony and the 6years Ayden is gone, she comes back a broken person, a different person and someone who needs help, love and support. Anthony is a sexy bad ass MC. Ayden broke his heart when she just disappeared. He loved her as a best friend and more. She shattered his heart. When Ayden comes back Anthony is now the president of the MC and he has changed. Anthony is now a no nonsense guy, who is a bad as bad comes. He sleeps with anyone he wants, when he wants. Everybody follows him and he takes his role as president very seriously. His weak is and always has been Ayden though. Now she's back what will Anthony do? Ayden and Anthony are great together and they have so much history. Now she's home he wants answers. I understood Aydens hesitation on telling Anthony what had happened in the past 6 years. She doesn't know him anymore, she doesn't know if she can trust him any more either, especially as every time she turns around he's with a different women. I really liked how even though they hadn't seen each other in 6 years, there was still a connection between them that was very strong. Anthony desperately wants answers from Ayden because you know he still cares about her and wants to do all he can to protect her and heal her, especially as Ayden might not be as safe as she thinks. I was really gripped to the characters, especially Ayden. I really wanted her to work everything out and be with the person she should of always been with, Anthony. The author balanced Anthony's character from dangerous to loving and protective very well. The author wrote the story so you could see different sides to Anthony and I think that was part of the reason this story was so strong. I found the whole time I was reading this book I was on the edge of my seat. I had no idea at all who the bad guy was until it was revealed. I have to praise Muriel on her writing. Writing a story that isn't predictable and that i hadnt read a million different versions off the same book over and over again is very hard, but she pulled it off brilliantly. What made it even more brilliant was you had no idea who the bad guy was. I don't think I've read many books that have managed to keep the book going right to the end without having a clue about the ending. For a debut book the author has brilliant talent to pull the book off at such a high standard. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books from the author in the near future.
This début is the first instalment in The Last Hangman MC series.
This is Ayden's story. Daughter of the president of The Last Hangman MC, she has grown up in the lifestyle and is excepting of the lives her family and friends live. Awkward and an easy target for bullies, she has always known that her best friend and fellow MC kid will be there for her. Anthony is everything she could expect him to be, loyal, kind and fiercely protective. However as they grow up she soon starts to feel something more than the friendship she believes he only wants from her. Then on her 18th birthday he gives her the biggest gift she could wish for; his love.
Everything should be perfect for Ayden, and it is UNTIL...
When Ayden is put through an horrific and heinous experience, she flees the only life she has known, the MC, her family and sadly Ant.
Roll on to 6 years and Ayden has taken the brave decision to return to New Orleans. She still doesn't have the courage to deal with the people and places of her life pre her move to New York, but she needs to be home. Having got a job in a prestigious marketing firm, a place to call home and a handful of friends, she hopes she can make progress and move on with her life; something that has alluded her for 6 years.
What will happen when she come face to face with Ant? Will they be able to move on from the horrors of the past? and when Ayden finds herself faced with unwanted attention, how will Ant react?
Before I go any further I ask you to heed the warning Muriel Garcia prefaces this story with. This story contains violence, rape and although the general storytelling is done in a sympathetic way, Muriel pulls no punches in the ordeal that Ayden goes through. If this is something that personally effects you WILL find this book hard to read.
I enjoyed this book, Muriel has created a very good storyline that has a real suspense to it. The story twists and turns and builds in to a real mystery type book. I like how she twisted this potentially beautiful and innocent love story into something that is dark, violent and twisted. The characters are great and she has certainly given them a good level of light ad shade as well as opening the characters up for future storylines. Club politics didn't really play part in this book, which is a good thing to be honest as this would have muddied an already interesting plot. The MC is really a backdrop in the book, and the story more about the personal lives of the members and their families.
I do have to agree with some other reviewers that it did have some editing issues. Although it doesn't especially detract from the story, I do think that the flow of the story would have been better had they been picked up on. I also found some of the dialogue repetitive at times. I say this to be constructive. Lets not forget this is Muriel Garcia's début novel and I can only applaud her for the imaginative and different take on the often violent and gritty genre of MC romance; I certainly look forward to seeing where she takes book 2.
If you are looking for a MC book with enduring love & Loyalty, mystery and suspense, Saving Ayden is the book for you.
I am a big sucker for anything biker then throw in a best friend who fall in love. Ayden who club president and grew up in the lifestyle has always been close with her best friend Anthony "Ant" James. Until on her 18th birthday he confess his love for her but after a few months and a horrible day that was meant for love. Ayden runs away from her family, from the MC and most of all from Ant.
6 years later and ready for her life to get back to normal she comes home. But nothing was what it used to be. Her dad in prison, she has a job but not her dream job and Ant is different. Ayden is damaged. She has lost her trust and being able to be around people. When she tries to get back to herself life hits her in the face again. But it brings her back to Ant. But she afraid because of the one reason she left everything behind will come back into her life because she back with Ant.
Anthony is the alpha male with a gooey side. At times I just could not picture this man as club president bad man biker. He was just to soft with his club members and things around him. Ayden oh poor Ayden. She lost herself in a way no women should. She does hold her self pretty well but she longs for more. I was rooting for Ant and Ayden. I just wished Ant would of pushed more of her but he waited for the right time.
Muriel gave us some twist that if I look back I could of saw coming. In the first couple chapters I was lost why she included scenes with different POV of certain people but it makes sense later in the book. She also did give us good set up for future books with fellow club members and Ayden friend.
One book I wish should would of gave more just because I am selfish is Aleck but she just gave us enough of a taste to want more.
Ayden Monroe thought she was going to live the fairy tale life with her unconventional Prince Charming. Instead of riding a steed, he rides a Harley. They have been best friends forever and finally they are dating. That all changes one night when the unthinkable happens, sending Ayden running from all she’s ever known. She just can’t face anyone anymore. Six years later, Ayden realizes she needs the security of her family, and although she knows she and Anthony can never be together again, she returns home.
I’m an MC book lover, so of course I was interested immediately and the story line was something new, so that had me excited about the book. However, I find it difficult to review a pre-edited story. As a reader/reviewer I never know what will happen during the editing process. This book has so much potential, but the version I read needs some polishing. Again, I love the plot, the characters are interesting but the writing needs to be cleaned up. The author repeats herself often, which for me, detracted from my enjoyment of the story. For example, Ayden was emotionally wrecked by what happened but the reader doesn’t need to be reminded of it so often throughout the story. I think this author is heading towards a good writing career and I think this was a good first effort. I give this book 3.5 stars and look forward to reading more from her and seeing her grown in her craft.
I had a hard time getting my thoughts together to write this review. The plot of this story grabbed me right away. Boy and girl meet and become best friends but are torn apart just as their romance is getting serious. Brought back together, they are offered a second chance to make it right but the problems of the past are not done.
Set within the world of a motorcycle club this is definitely my cup of tea but I wasn’t able to love it as much as I wanted to. The bones are all there – love, humour, smexy scenes, intrigue and drama. The main characters, Ayden and Anthony, are very likeable with equally engaging supportive characters found in their blood and MC family. There is violence and the characters are not portrayed as white-hat wearing individuals. They are real people dealing with their own realities within the views of normality they grew up in and around.
The point of view switched back and forth between Ayden and Anthony which added emotion and insight into the sometimes harrowing events. Unfortunately, for me, the narrative became repetitive after a time as it seemed the same feelings and thoughts were rehashed and retold. Overall, I thought it was a good read and I’m looking forward to where the author takes the series. ~ Diane, 3.5 stars
This is Muriel Garcia's debut novel. I found it to be a refreshing read but slightly on the dark side. She does give a warning about the material of the book but it was not to over the top compared to most books with that type of warning. Throughout the book I rooted for Ayden and hoped she would over come her abuse. She is such a well developed character. Not to strong but also not to whiny. She is shy but you can not blame her after all she has been through. The love of her life is Anthony and he is as bad ass as they come. Anthony winds up becoming the president of the MC and you can tell he takes his job seriously. His love for Ayden is never ending and he would do anything to protect her now that she is back. Muriel Garcia is going to become a household name in the book world if she continues to write books like this. She had me on the edge of my seat and even though I thought I figured out who the bad guy was I was wrong. That doesn't happen often. She was able to keep the bad guy hidden until the time was right the reveal the entire plot. I personally can not wait for more from her since she left her self open to so many story lines in this book. Congrats on publishing your debut novel and here's to many more.
*I was given an ARC for an honest review by the author*
Oh my stars this book blew me away. This was the first book that I have read by Muriel Garcia. I loved the characters, and the story line it was amazing story of two lost souls that grew up as best friends. Anthony and Ayden were best friends growing in The Last Hangman MC they had strong feelings towards each other. Until one night Ayden is taken away from her family and friends she is abducted. When she returns home to her family she is hurt and in pain she decides to run away and go live in New York and start fresh.
Six years later she returns home and finds out that her dad is in jail. Anthony is the president of the MC now. She starts working for the company that framed her dad. Ayden runs into Anthony and things start to heat up between the two. They start seeing each other and catching up on old times. Anthony asks Ayden why she left to go to New York. Ayden breaks down and tells Anthony why she left cause she had a tragic accident that frightened her.
This book was phenomenal read I couldn't put it down it was one of my favorite MC books. I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series. Thank you Muriel for the chance to read this I loved!!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Growing up together Ayden and Anthony spent a lot of time together. Both their dads were involved with their MC. Spending time around the compound was always fun. He was always there for her. Whether it was telling the bullies to leave her alone or cheering her up, Anthony would do anything to see Ayden happy. As they got older Ayden fell in love with Anthony. On her 18th birthday Anthony confesses his love too. The two are happily together. One day that would all change. The events of that day leaves Ayden broken and running off to New York leaving everything behind including Anthony. Six years later Ayden returns and Anthony wants answers but most of all he wants her. Struggling with those events year ago, Ayden is pushing Anthony away. When a new terror is lurking around, Ayden turns to Anthony for safety. Can he keep her safe or will this finally break Ayden for good? I loved the rawness of this book!! From the foul language to the fine biker men, it had me captivated from the beginning. There were also some sexy scenes that were HOT! If you like hot biker men and a bit of gritty then this book is for you.
I give this a 4 1/2 stars out of 5 stars. Ayden is the daughter of a MC president. She has a best friend names Anthony. His dad was the president until he stepped down. Ayden and Anthony started dating but something happened and she ran away. Anthony was always protecting Ayden. He has liked her for a long time then she left. He was not sure why. He had no idea why she left. Ayden left after a tragedy happened to her. She stayed away for years. Upon returning she did not want to see any family or friends. But Anthony wasn't going to stay away. He saw her one night in trouble and saved her. This opened the door for her and him to start talking. She told him what happened years ago. But what did he do? Did he stay or leave her? Things started to unravel when Ayden found some stuff she was not suppose to. Did Ayden and Anthony find their happiness? Did he stay and help protect her? Did Ayden ever find out who caused her harm? This was a good book and recommend it to my friends. ~Lisa Book Nuts.
Garcia has managed to create a romantic story with a dark edged without being over the top. I fell in love with Anthony and Ayden and rooted for them from the get go. As an abused female protagonist, Ayden is strong without being annoying and whinny and Anthony is just amazing! I found this book to be completely refreshing, I wasn’t smacked in the face with clichés and over used symbols and characterisation.
It is hard to believe that this is a debut novel, Garcia’s writing is brilliant, the descriptions are neither too long nor too short, the story successfully flows and the character development was well thought out. This is my first MC book and it has set a high standard for the rest!
It was a genuine pleasure to read this book, I completely lost myself to this book and had to finish the book in an entire sitting. Congrats on your debut novel I hope to ready many many more!
I really struggled with how to rate this book. The events at the beginning of the story just didn't seem to fit with natural reactions. It's hard to describe it without a spoiler, but I'll try.
It's Ayden's mother's reaction that didn't seem realistic and it really bothered me. When Ayden came home, it's obvious something traumatic has happened but she just let her go. As a mom, there is no way I would have allowed my child to just walk away.
Once the story moved to 6 years later and I had a little time to get over her mother, the book was impossible to put down. Actually, I didn't out it down.I stayed up until 2 just because I wanted to get to the ending.
I felt more connected to Anthony than Ayden. Ayden left 6 years ago and he had no idea why. I really hoped that Ayden would find the strength to open up and tell him the truth.
I love a good biker book and this is a great start. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I really enjoyed this debut novel from Muriel Garcia. There was a lot of story poured into this book but it all flowed well, the pace was excellent and I just couldn't put it down and read it in one day. Ayden and Anthony were quick and easy to fall in love with, and I found myself routing for them quickly. Not as gritty/sexy as a lot of MC novels and there isn't much MC action in this first of the series but the book doesn't suffer from it, as the story isn't about that. The rape scene, although it's a difficult subject it was well written and tastefully done as much as that sort of thing can be tasteful.
There are a few mistakes but they don't affect the read and I only really noticed them because I'm picky like that.
I'm looking forward to see what more comes from this author and the Last Hangman MC world. Recommended Read from me.
*****I received this book for an honest review. This is the story Ayden and Anthony who've known each other all there lives. Something tragic happens to Ayden that makes her leave everything behind for the last six years. As well Ayden couldn't trust anyone even Anthony who has done nothing to her. This is a story about moving forward and learning to cope with something that has kept Ayden from moving forward with a future she deserves. I'm not going to lie, but this book at times had me crying like a baby, but I also had happy tears as well. In this book you get a lot of drama, crying and some sexy time that will keep you till the last page. This is the first book that, I've read by Author Muriel Garcia and can't wait till the next book in the series. I love my MC stories, but I'm picky as well at the same. So, I'm going to say this book is worth the read, I promise.
I received this for an honest review.. This is one of those books you absolutely don't expect. When I picked up this book I did not know what to expect and I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. This is Anthony and Aydens story. Anthony and Ayden were childhood best friends. When they reach the teenage years they decide to start dating. Then the unthinkable happens and Ayden is kidnapped when she is returned she comes back a different person who just wants to get away from everything. Fast forward 6 years and Ayden is back and this is where the story really takes off. You get to see the love that was meant to be and how they fight to be together
For being a debut author I thought this book was well done and a wonderful job. The author tackles some tough subjects and does them well I thought...
•This book contains adult material intended for mature readers only•
Saving Ayden, what a great storyline this book has. So many twists and turns and so many emotions pulled from you. It'll keep you hooked from the very first page making you wonder what's going to happen next.
I love Ayden and Anthony's relationship and it's been wonderful reading their story.
Michael, what a complete and utter fuck head. From the very first mention of his name I knew I wouldn't like him ugh.
"Enjoy your life, surround yourself with the people you love and enjoy what you do. These things will bring you the all the happiness in the world. Material shit means nothing."
Some very wise words from Anthony at the end. I'm so glad I started reading this book and I most definitely can't wait to read more!
The story has laughs, rape, kidnapping, suspense and heartbreak.
This is Ayden and Anthony’s story. Ayden and Anthony have known each other forever and they are best friends. After they decide to date the unthinkable happens and Ayden is kidnapped. The guy tells her it is all the fault of the MC club. She finally gets away she runs. She needs to get far away from everyone and everything she knows. Six years later she is back. Her father is in custody and she is working in the same company to find out what happened. All the while she is afraid and is fearful of being alone with any man. She sees Anthony around town and he lets it be known that he still wants her. When the past comes back for her will she be ready?
I liked this book from the beginning although it through me for a loop with the first 5 minutes and had me gasping, hurting and crying over what was going on. Although I enjoyed this book at times I thought that the characters were too whiny. I understand that this is a book about rape and the aftermath and considering I never went through that I can't really understand how the character felt but sometimes I just wanted to shout get over it already and start living your life the way that you should. I enjoyed the back and forth bantering that Anthony and Ayden had as well as the quick shots to the other characters. I look forward to reading more from this series so I can what will happen with the rest of the characters.
Ayden and Anthony grew up together and were the best of friends. Just when things were changing into something more Ayden is taken and suffers at the hands of a monster. Not able to share it with anyone Ayden runs away without an explanation to Anthony. Years later she comes back into town and Anthony decides that he needs to find out what happened that she left him and let her know that he wants her in his life. Ayden is still in love with Anthony, but opening her heart to him again scares her. Then the monster from her past comes back. I so loved Anthony. I loved them together and their second chance at love. Such a fantastic story.
