About the author

Aaron is an Australian author of children's books and artist who until the mid-2000s was also an actor. His award winning picture books include Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley, The Ghost of Miss Annabel Spoon and the best-selling Pig the Pug.

In the field of acting, he is probably best known for his lead roles in two television dramedies, 1994's The Damnation of Harvey McHugh, for which he won an Australian Film Institute Award, and 2003's CrashBurn, before retiring from performance in 2005.

This was a good instalment of the story. There's quite a lot of action, and the teams are slowly converging. A few reveals happen in here, and it ends on the usual cliff hanger of doom. My son read it three times in a row the second we bought it, so it’s obviously a winner with the target audience.

It has been a little while since I have read a Bad Guys book. I was somewhat confused in this one. I think that may be because I had forgotten how the previous one left off. Anyway, still fun, but maybe not as good as previous outings. Have a few more to catch up on. Love the movies based on the series.

this series makes me so so happy. i even did stay away from reading it for a bit because once it is over you wish you had not read it yet??! so funny. i wish for book #17 soon. wow, not til July 4, 2023???!! that is a wait. hope i can wait that long. lol!! have you seen the movie yet? so so good. i got my hubby to watch it, he and i both loved it. so so good. check them out. books and the movie. enjoyable!!

EDIT: Original review stands...glad I decided to wait until they were all published and read straight through. Now I'll get to read the last four books for the first time :)

3.5 stars, but rounding up because I'd missed the Bad Guys and I get the feeling that the series is drawing to a close (I don't want to use the adjective, "hopefully," but it's probably for the best--I feel like it needs to end soon).

There's so many characters and side quests--you'd almost benefit from reading the entire series straight through, so that you're fresh on what's happening (even though there are slower books where not much plot advancement happens, it still feels like refreshers could be beneficial)...maybe when the entire series is finally completed and fully published, I'll do that.

My friend gave me issue #16 as a gift. I have not read the previous 15 issues, which likely affected my enjoyment of this volume, so I apologize to all fans of the entire series as a whole if that fact skews my rating. Overall, I thought it was vey cute with a huge cast of quirky and fun characters.

2 stars (It was okay)

So, as I said in the review for the last one, there is too much going on and also too little progress at the same time. I don't even remember which ones I've read and which I haven't because they all are a jumbled mess. I thought I had read this one and was getting ready to read book 17 but then I realized I had not read this one. I then had to go back and skim through book 15 in order to understand what is happening. There /really/ needs to be a summary page!

I did like that a few things were revealed in this. There is the promise that a lot more will be revealed in book 17 and if there isn't, I might be done with the series.

I loved that the bird's shirt changed from "I do not trust Buck" to "I was right about Buck."

This is awful. It is impossible to follow this without immediate knowledge of past events in the series, and even if someone is reading all of the volumes together, this is still an exceptionally weak installment. The story jumps back and forth between a multitude of characters, and this book just extends the lead-up to the final stand-off. It feels like the author is milking this as a cash cow instead of drawing the series to its conclusion. The only thing saving this book from a one star rating from me is the unexpected character growth for Tiffany Fluffit.

I loved these books to start but I've missed a few and had absolutely no idea what was going on in this one. Partly that's because not much actually does go on, it feels like a filler episode on a long form tv show to pad out a season, just waiting to get to the final battle. Even my 6 yr old seemed a little disappointed reading it and he has read and enjoyed the rest. I'm ready for the series to be over, or to be turned into a monthly comic style release, which would work so much better with the way it's constructed.

I saw this book on the shelf at the library as I was checking out and thought I'd give it a try. It looked short and different. Well, boy was it "different". This book was in a display of kids' books. This is NOT a book for little kids. It's mostly drawings with very little reading to it, but what little bit of reading there is came across as kind of crass. I wouldn't let a very young child read it, but teens can handle it. It made crap for sense, but maybe that's because this is number 16 and I've read none of the others.

I will be another one of those reviews that says “the first books were so good!” But it’s true. Now they are just weird. This one in particular had nothing to do with the plot. Nothing really happened to drive the story forward. At this point I’m just reading them because my kids like them, I get it from the library for them, and the books only take about 15 minutes to read.

Is #17 the last one? I’m kind of hoping so.

Daughter review: I liked when Evil Shark and Evil Hogwild said “Kitty, kitty kitty kitty kitty kitty kitty” and I likes that creepy lady who had the box that scared Wolfie to death. Also I like the Bat so much and I like that Shortfuse kept pulling him into the portals over and over again. I also liked that Fluffit said her real name and said they were all heroes.

Graphic Novel
Readers are getting closer to discovering who the hidden characters are and how everything will be resolved. The emphasis on "weird stuff" entertains and makes readers think too. Looking forward to #17 and the final resolution.

The saga continues with more surprise twists as the Bad Guys continue through the many doors of the multiverse seeking The One, and The Others. Things as usual are not what they seem and the closer the Bad Guys get to the answers, the more garbled the plot becomes.

It was fine. Another installment, and the author promises some things for the next book, so we will see. I am curious now when this series will finish; less worried of how. I will be sad when this ends, though. It’s a cute and quick children’s book.

I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK! But it still gets weirder! This book was cool when it introduced a new underlord person and the horror realm was cool. And I now like that the books switch is between the 2 teams (A and B). My favourite character is still MILTON THE DINOSAUR! Overall 4 stars.
