3.5 stars.

Biker boy who doesn't like relationships meets girl with money in a bar where he bartends. It's a total typical romance bad boy story.

I think the chemistry was written very well, but I think that when they met, the difference in the characters could've been a little more hesitant. Immediately, things changed. That night. It just seemed rushed. Overall, I found this to be good, but too fast.

Steele Ryker is running away from his past when Kallie comes barrelling into his life. What was supposed to be a one time thing turned more. This novella you get to follow their journey which is fast paced but still very jammed packed.

Steele Ryker comes and goes as he pleases. He's a fine piece of eye-candy and what seems to be a good bartender/bouncer in the story. I like how he can handle himself and is not afraid to get a little scuffed up. He's a bad-ass biker boy. I have to admit his the first biker boy that I have read about, but he's not so bad as a first for me :)

Enter in Kallie Pearson. Kallie seems to be from the other side of the tracks. The high-class if you will. At first she comes off to me as a spoiled, rich kid but we soon find out that she also has a darker past. Her "wild-side" lead her to go to The Sage Bar where she ends up meeting Steele.

The attraction is there for both of them and I can see that but here is where I lacked on connection with the character. The instant they meet, for me, it seemed to have changed their characters slightly. Suddenly, all they could think about what each other. For Steele, I find this out of character for him. Not knowing his background yet, I just felt a disconnect. For Kallie, I felt like she would attach quickly and that didn't bother me as much as it did with Steele. I just had a hard time reconnecting with their story lines after their meeting. I'm not sure why that is because it's written well. Maybe it was due to the slight change in Steele, I don't know but there was definitely something I feel was missing that should have been able to pull me back in.

Now with that said, I would still definitely recommend this book. Just because something was missing for me, doesn't mean it will be for you as a reader. Other people seem to rave about this book and they should. Like I said it was written well, especially for a short story.

Steele and Kallie meet while he is doing his job as a bartender in a new place that he finds himself in. Kallie is trying to find new excitement. She finds more than she bargains for when she meets Steele. Drawn to each other, Steele tells Kallie to stay away from the bar as she is better than that. Kallie wants Steele and goes back to try and change his mind. After a coincidence has her car breaking down in front of where he is staying, Steele gives in to his feelings for Kallie. Kallie finds herself wondering what Steele is doing when he ignores her and flirts with someone else when she goes to see him. An accident happens and they both wind up deciding to what the future has in store for them as a couple. It had a nice ending and was a very well done short story.

Steele and Kallies story was a good fast read. He told her to stay away but she had a mind of her own. It held my attention and was just what I needed. Great job Vicki.
