An excellent short story, of about 20 pages, based on Hugh Howey's "Halfway Home". I love Hugh Howey's books, and Roz Marshall does a fabulous job here in recreating this world with her own slant on it. This is science fiction I would love to see developed further, and I shall certainly be watching out for this author in the future.

Great short story that pulled me in from the beginning and left me wanting more. It's a fast paced horror/sci-fi that has a unique story line. Great read!

My 'review', giving some more information about the background of this book:

"The Final Solution" was a finalist in a short story competition run by Booktrack and Hugh Howey to write a story in his "Half Way Home" universe.

My other entry ("Nobody's Hero") was about two minor characters in Hugh's story, so with this one I decided to write about a brand new colony on a different planet.

Here's what Hugh had to say about my story (on his blog): "Roz’s story takes place on a different colony with a new threat. It’s a brutal horror story. You think I kill characters with wild abandon? I’ve got nothing on Roz."

Before I finish, I'd like to thank Hugh for his generosity in letting us use our imaginations to play in his fictitious universe. Hugh - you're awesome :-)
