I dug up everything about Trent Pierce in a single day. All it took was his email address, and every secret, every lie he tried to bury was mine. I could ruin him with one click, but that’s not enough.
When Kate disappeared, I went to the police. Told them how Trent watched her. How he wanted to make her his. They shrugged it off beside a bulletin board full of missing women. Just another soon-to-be cold case in Morning Veil.
Not this time.
I’ve seen enough. No more watching. No more waiting. Now I’m at Trent’s door, counting the seconds until his bedroom light dies. They say justice is blind. Maybe it is—when it’s wrapped in duct tape and plastic sheets.
Set in a town called Morning Veil, the story opens with a grieving man. The girl he planned to spend the rest of his life with is gone; it appears that the police have no leads and no body and the case is closed.
Our narrator knows who is to blame: the town’s squeaky clean hot shot lawyer, Trent Pierce. The story settles in, building the case against Trent and all seems to flow well. However, part one then ends and the story begins with part two; this now tells Trent’s tale and it puts a rather different spin on matters.
I don’t want to give any more away and it is quite hard to write a review for this tale and avoid spoilers. The narrative is split into three main parts and the macabre layers build towards the denouement. It’s dark, twisty and rather chilling.
📚 I loved how this story was broken into three parts in one book—each section adding more depth, twists, and heartbreak. Told from the POV of a scorned man who lost the love of his life 💔, all he wanted was revenge on the person he thought took her from him.
💥 Book 2 from Trent’s POV was hands-down my favorite. It had me smiling 😊, crying 😭, and holding my chest 💔. Knowing what Trent was going through, then having it ripped away, was absolutely tragic. And just when I thought I knew the truth…
📖 From Book 1 ➡️ Book 3, Seth Parker completely flipped the story on its head. That twist? 😱 Jaw on the floor, bouncing around, full-on WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! I did not see that coming!
Seth Parker has a way of making you feel for Trent in the worst way—you just want him to finally get his happiness 🥹❤️.
“Reading his work was like finding a scar you didn’t know you had—then remembering exactly how you got it. All at once.”
God of the Buried is a gritty, psychological thriller that immediately plunges you into the grief-soaked mind of its narrator. The atmosphere is thick with dread, grief, and tension—the kind that makes you double-check your locks at night. (I'm serious.)
This book will resonate with readers who enjoy the unsettling intimacy of You by Caroline Kepnes, the gritty psychological depth of Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, and the moody, atmospheric charm of Southern Gothic thrillers like Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. If you like your thrillers laced with literary prose, unreliable narrators, and a haunting sense of place, this one’s for you.
Fans of the show You, this book is for you! I could not put this book down! Perfect for the beginning of spooky season. Seth has a unique writing style that not only is easy to read but keeps you guessing and needing to know what happens next. What happened to Kate? Was it the small town hot shot lawyer, Trent? God of The Buried follows a man trying to find out what happened to his missing girlfriend and he has every reason to believe Trent is behind her dissappearance. On his search for answers, things quickly spiral out of control. I only wish there was a little more closure at the end but all around a great psychological thriller!
God of the Buried is one of those rare reads that grabs you early and refuses to let go. Seth Parker has crafted a story that feels truly original—unsettling, atmospheric, and impossible to ignore. The structure is a bit unconventional at first, but once you're in, it clicks, and the payoff is more than worth it. This is a book for readers who want something different. Something bold. Something that lingers long after the last page. A standout in psychological thrillers, and a reminder that real originality still exists in fiction.
Wow! What an incredible story. I felt my heartbeat picking up while I tuned the pages, questioning myself and what I believed to be true every step of the way. Exactly the ending I was hoping for and ecstatic to reach the conclusion that was written. First book I’ve read in a long while that gave me everything I was looking for in a psychological thriller. Not to mention the way it was written overall. Off to go find out if this author has any other stories for me to get lost in. BUY THE BOOK, RENT THE BOOK, DO WHATEVER YOU MUST TO GET THE BOOK! Worth every penny and second of your time
The twists and turns in this one ate a doozie! Just when you think you know, boom perspective change and new details come out. Story is a little creepy, but so very well written.
An interesting thriller that leaves you questioning things throughout. The writing style is a bit unique, and I enjoyed the dual POVs. It's a fast read. Avid readers can easily devour this in a day or two. Definitely recommend for fans of psychological thrillers.
A phycological horror thriller indeed. A seriel killer who uses a burned out lawyer to try and blame his killings on. This is truly twisted and a page turner. Don't want to spoil your future read.
