There are so many endless books concerning astrological alignments of ancient sites and geomancy; mostly all horse quabble of the speculative, zany, space-eyed. Because they tend to be written by intellectuals though, you will find 3 or 4 good tidbits from them, however, among all their fat (after reading - wasting - for days over it).

This is not a work like that: no fat at all, throughout. Tight, compressed, deep, convincing - I don’t doubt almost any half reasonable could go away from this book and see what he is saying is so.

I mean, namely, that about all archaic temples around Greece and beyond were very consciously aligned to signify deep matters of the zodiac. There are powers, it is said (Arratus, Manilius, Hermes Trismegistus, etc. etc. among the Greeks; MashaAllah) that convey themes on earth, signify things at work in relationship to each other sociologically here. They are said to play in the hupnos of the masses in a certain, particular, way.

All these claims are in old literature (above, and so on) that such energia or synergia emanate from their respective regions out there (in space - to us, vibrations, effluence), tie in to our earth-plains here perhaps. This conveys such ruminations and some of their organizational structure so we may theoretically examine such and come to more factual understanding of these matters.

Even if the energic side cannot be believed because not established yet in scientific analysis (or merely a moderns limited mind-frame?), that the ancients intentionally aligned all such temples and sites amazingly, consciously and elaborately…about any can take away from this work - after reading it - as certain, at least.

No other author has ever proven this to me nearly to my satisfaction. So this is an extremely important work; as the Astrological Mystery branch of wisdom was one of only about 36 or so *main branches of Wisdom the 12 Archaic Cultures taught *more principally, amid all their various branches. It is a key to seek; and hard to find much on.

This work unlocks infinitely more keys to that key than any other new age or ancient alien theory sort of book shooting around in the dark these days; simply because this author spent his whole life researching and consolidating all these alignments and significations of power into this one, little, book.

I highly recommended it, so glad I accidentally stumbled upon it again in my notes - and long ago before.

A very intreguing examination of an overlooked but omnipresent aspect of Greek symbolism, as seen particularly in physical objects such as temples, coins, and pottery as well as in names and myths. The different ancient calendars and mythic systems are particularly interesting.

This system is shockingly solid; I even say so having read and understood some criticisms of it by more "empirical" types. It is clearly a reference rather than a work of theory throughout, as the case studies that occupy roughly the entire second half of the book do tend to run together reading it through.

Astrology fans, take note: what the author and translator call "astrology" would actually have been the astronomy of the time (the subtitle in French just says "astral"). Many of the sites and materials covered predate by several hundred years the incorporation of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian practices of divination that together formed what is now called astrology. The proportions of the constellations and their mythic symbolism, which are reflected in temple construction and artwork, must be understood as a substrate upon which Hellenistic astrology was built, not yet an execution of it.
