Tate Halloway lives life to the fullest. She had a rough childhood and a rougher adolescence. Now that she’s away at school and on her own for the first time in her life, nothing can hold her back from making the most out of every single day. Well, just that one thing. But she refuses to think about. And why would she, when life is so much more fun when you’re living it, experiencing every little thing.

When she bumps into Bridger Wright, a childhood friend that was both a bully and a serious crush, she starts to see that not everyone thinks like her. She’s always had a thing for Bridger, but the guy she catches up with is a far cry from the little boy that used to put toads down her dress and pull her ponytails. She knows there’s more to Bridger than this sulking, disconnected version of him and she’s bound and determined to pull it out of him.

Bridger Wright has been spurned in love more than once. He always seems to trust the wrong girls and end up with a broken heart. He’s tired of it. And he has resolved himself to a life without love. He believes he’s better off, if only he could convince Tate too. Tate bursts into Bridger’s life like sunlight through clouds. She’s vivacious, energetic and adventurous. But she’s not without secrets. Just as Bridger starts to open up to her demanding presence and the feelings he can’t seem to deny, his trust is broken again.

Bridger and Tate are forced to face each other and the pain of their past. Neither wants to face their demons and deal with their hurt, but neither can deny the depth of their feelings for each other.

Their brazing love will take work and sacrifice. Both are capable of giving to each other. Both will have to decide whether or not it’s worth it.

Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.

I'm a composed, thoughtful reviewer. Usually.

Oooooooooooooooooooh!
Skweeeeeee! Oh my, what a wonderful romance!

Forgive me, I just had to do that.
Bridge (sorry, Bridger, you'll always be Bridge to me) and Tate are both wonderfully complete, imperfect but very real human beings. Their story hangs in the breath-holding balance all the way through, and the surrounding picture fills in with perfect pace. The range of supporting characters are also believable, while being quirky enough to add spice to the story.
This is one of the most perfect romances I have ever loved. Not to mention, girls, that Bridge is one of the most romantic characters, in his own rough way, that ever drew literary breath!
Now I have to go. There are other books by these authors I must get!

I am only giving a 1-star as this book has been removed from Amazon and there is nowhere you are able to obtain a copy. I read the first book in the series and LOVED it, and would love to read the 2nd book, but am unable to find a copy (paperback, hardcover, kindle, etc) anywhere.

I received an ARC of this book, and here is my honest review!

There were so many 5 star worthy moments in this book, but it was coupled by little things that niggled at me and thus averaged to a 4 star book.

Since I was reading the ARC, I wasn't sure it was the final edited version....so while I did notice quite a few typos, it didn't really affect my overall enjoyment of the book.

I really love the quirky Wright family, so it was fun to be reading a book about another brother. The pieces of Bridger that we got made for a really strange mix of guy -- a wee bit sappy, rather straight-laced, super sweet and attentive at times, kind of hard to read at others. I didn't feel like I knew all of him even at the end. Some of his transitions in personality and mood were so abrupt, and even though that was mentioned in the book, it didn't work for me. I wanted a bit more, to really know why he is the way he is. Some of it was given, and bits were teased here and there, but it's like it wasn't *quite* enough.

On the other side of the coin though, when he was being super sweet Bridger, OMG melt my heart. Seriously, he was so adorable sometimes!! I just wanted to hug him. And I enjoyed his relationship with the wacky West. I think I'm looking forward to his story the most.

Tate was so fabulously spirited and fiery and sassy and stubborn and full of sunshine all at the same time. There were times where she was just the perfect match to bring Bridger out of his funk. But there were parts of her story that I wanted more of too. She kept mentioning her "wild" youth, but I never figured out why she rebelled. I had theories, but it seemed like it was just this add on....and if it was going to be mentioned, then I guess I wanted to know why and how it built her into who she was. I was told that it made her who she was, but I wasn't shown you know?

So yeah, one of those books where the good parts were out of the park, but as a whole it left me wanting just a bit more.

When Tate runs into her childhood crush, she is determined to make him remember her. Then she wants to put him in his place for the many times he tormented her as a kid. What happens instead is something amazing and beautiful and heartbreaking. Utterly heartbreaking.

I am absolutely, positively, 100% in love with this book. I didn't think I would like it more than STRIKING but I was proved wrong. I loved it 10 times more. I loved seeing Stockton, Cami and Willa show up in all their craziness. But it was Tate and Bridger that sold me on the story. Could not get enough of these two. Would have gladly read for days about them and the nonsense they put themselves through.

I totally get that Bridger has been hurt in the past. That is understandable. But the best part was seeing him slowly emerge from that darkness he allowed himself to be consumed in. Of course, none of the emerging would have been possible if not for the quirky and fun loving red head, known as Tate, hadn't have happened. This girl is something else. And she just comes barreling into his life like a cannon aiming perfectly for its target.

I adored the storyline oh so much. Oh yes. It definitely had me teary eyed in all the right spots and rolling with laughter at times too. And the romance? AHH! It was perfectly done. Lots of swooning to be had. I have some mad love for Higginson and Felix for writing a book that had me enduring all these powerful emotions.

I couldn't have asked for a more fabulous read. Even better is knowing that West is getting his story next. And after experiencing him like we did in this one...you know it will be one heck of a story. He is crazy and adorable all rolled into one, but he is most definitely an experience you won't soon forget.

Loved the book! Loved these characters! Loved it all! 5 Stars all the way!

A pretty good second book in this series.

It’s been a while since I read Striking, but I remember that I really enjoyed the over-the-top sweet southern romance. The same was true of this book. It took me a while to remember all the characters and get used to the style of writing, but once I did I got swept away in Tate and Bridger’s love story. I like both of the main characters and the way they were both so stubborn – it made them ideally suited for dealing with each other. I really liked the way both Tate and Bridger had strong and supportive families that loved them – even when they were both being unreasonable. I also really liked the way they both had trust issues, yet were willing to face them and deal with their fear for a chance to be together in the end.

Overall this was a pretty good story. The writing could have used some more thorough editing (I noticed missing words that made some sentences hard to read and lots of cases where words were misspelled as a phonetically similar word with a completely different meaning) but overall it was still worth the read to me. I’d recommend this book and the first in the series if you’re looking for some clean and sweet contemporary romance.

Oh my goodness. When I was younger I used to read those really depressing books by Lurlene McDaniels. They were all about surviving, but there was often death and a lot of sickness in them. They both horrified me and entranced me. What does that have to do with this book? Well, Brazing reminded me of those books. There is so much pain in both Tate and Bridger, and so much love. I adore their story. I loved Forged, but this one is my favorite so far.
I love that Tate chooses to live in the moment, enjoying life as it is. The way she got there sucks, but I think it is a good lesson to be present and stop focusing so much on the future, and focus on the blessings here and now.
And Bridger...OH.MY.GOSH. When he crawled into the hospital bed with her my heart melted. That boy....oh that boy.
Will it make you cry? Yep...most likely, but it will also make your heart melt, and put a mushy smile on your face <3

Oh my heavens, Rachel and Lila have with a hit! This book, which is the sister book to Striking, was simply phenomenal and quite honestly a wonderful surprise. It immediately catches your interest and doesn't let go of it's grip on you until you've read the entire piece. I enjoyed every second of being back in the "Wright" world and becoming reacquainted with all of the characters. I certainly did NOT expect the emotional response that this book left me with but know that Brazing is a beautifully executed story and should not be missed.

This book is about a guy and a girl who grew up together and reconnect later on I believe the girl is written by Rachel and the boy is written by Lila. Anyways the girl has cancer and is trying to keep it from the boy which is really annoying.

I did not care for this book because it didn't grab my emotions. I felt like it was a book that I was just reading to read the words on the page.

The girls did it again :) This is book two in the Forged in Fire books by two great ladies. It is a love story that seems to have it all and an over all good read. All of your favorites are back and this time Stock's little brother Bridger is in for a ride as he falls for a fiery red head...Tate.
