I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. It has not affected my opinions.

ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT is a fun, cookery-themed contemporary romance about rival bakers forced to work together and finding out they don't hate each other as much as they thought.

It was really interesting how this book handled Dara. He starts off as this really overbearing, patronising, arrogant person. And yes, he has things going on in his own life, but Carrie (and the book) don't give him a free pass for that. I liked that he is forced to confront his behaviour, change, and apologise for it. I appreciated that he was confronted about it and he did change because it's such an unattractive characteristic.

There is a lot of chemistry between them and the set up is such that we get a range of dynamics. We start of at enemies and then go to reluctant partners before slowly transitioning to friends. I liked that it went through so many stages and they learn about each before they start falling in love. Any relationship that goes via friends is one I like so much more than straight to love.

There are so many yummy recipes included in this book. You don't just get to see them cooking but you can try them your self without having to infer from the text what they included. It's a really nice touch - and I'll probably try a few out!

It was okay. It would be more fun for people who are enthusiastic about Bake Off programms and something similar.

a very cute ennemies-to-lovers Irish contemporary ya romance novel about baking! the plot was very simple and light and not very well developed, but it was a classic love story so i wasn’t looking for deep meaningful plot. however, it did make me feel quite hungry and i appreciated how simple reading this book felt.

disclaimer: I work for the publisher and read a few early versions of this copy (but my love for it is unbiased!)

ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT brings together the sweet delights and butterflies of Jenny Han's TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE and the slightly darker social realism of Ciara Smyth's YA (which I have missed and been looking for since Ciara's last novel).

Equal parts joyous and raw, ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT is a stellar coming of age story set in the world of baking competitions and in the underused setting of rural Ireland.
