Drawn into a game she doesn't fully understand, she must navigate a world of trickery, temptation, and ancient magic.
The man who saves her is no ordinary traveler. A tall, dark, and handsome type–he's charming, clever, and cloaked in secrets. But something behind his easy smile lies in wait, ready to pounce.
As twisted threads of fate begin to tighten around her, the witch must decide who she can trust... and whether the greatest danger is the curse that hunts her, or the man.

4.5 but rounding up. It has been a pleasure to see this author grow from book one to book two. PLEASE GIVE THIS BOOK TILL AT LEAST CH. 8 UNTIL YOU JUDGE IT. Everything is not as it seems… Truly.

A prequel novel can really be hit or miss for me, but I really enjoyed this story and all of the characters. I loved how truths came unraveled. How questions from book one where answered. Yet there are still plenty of questions left for book 3.

I am eager to see how book 3 and the rest of this story will unravel.

After the cliffhanger in Raven, I was all kinds of excited to make the ARC team for Curse. Although this is a prequel and doesn’t pick up where Raven left us, we get several answers in this novella. I need to read Raven again with new insight.

It’s multi-POV, and one is the villain.
There is a complete plot twist in the dang PROLOGUE.
The epilogue takes us back to the prologue for Raven and gives more insight (you will find out the who behind the Raven prologue here).

Trust, lies, love, manipulation, betrayal, mythical creatures, emotion, character development.

I do hope to get more details in the future into the types of magic, how it works, and why it’s used, but those answers may be ones I find in Raven when I reread.

Great job, C. Mathie, on your second published work. I can’t wait to see where this series takes us.

Hello… again 🙃 ‘Tis I, the terribly twisty author of this book! I’m sensing an oncoming theme of rating my own works, and no one has stopped me thus far so…

NOTHING is as it seems!! Book two, as a prequel to book one, The Rowbury Raven, begins with an enormous plot twist—right in its prologue. The characters are so complex, mysterious, and deeply motivated. The villain behind the Rowbury curse is one you’ll absolutely hate to love, and love to hate. Their POV will leave you reeling (you’ve been warned).

Lies, traps, manipulation, dark creatures, spice, romance, magic, and more! ❤️‍🔥✨

The Rowbury Curse gives you the answers you were looking for from The Rowbury Raven but in a nonchalant way that makes YOU need to get those wheels grinding. C Mathie orchestrated The Rowbury Curse in a way that makes you think for yourself, finding the connections between both books that were / are blurred, and wanting more. Oh for the Love of Fates, does it ever leave you wanting more! (IYKYK what I'm saying by that first line 😏)

I'm questioning so many things right now --
Helene. Heustice. Ronnach. Izara. The Undying Curse. THE BRIGHTLING -- because I swear, I think I made that connection now, but I'm still questioning if I'm right! 🫣 & now, Mansyn more than ever - my wheels are grinding about my thoughts on her. But the connections and *my thoughts* are entirely there and I seriously cannot wait to see what happens in the third book!! The only one I've got down to a 'T' is Tamahra and why she is so willing to be helping how she does from the first book with Mansyn.

You are not going to want to miss this book, especially after reading The Rowbury Raven. Yes, this book does give you answers from book one but it also keeps excited suspense for the 3rd book to come!

You should 100% make sure to read The Rowbury Raven before reading The Rowbury Curse.

Tropes:
🐦‍⬛ Villain POV
🐦‍⬛ Blood Magic
🐦‍⬛ Curses
🐦‍⬛ Manipulation
🐦‍⬛ Stalking
🐦‍⬛ Mystical Creatures
🐦‍⬛ Forced yet found true love

The Rowbury Curse by C. Mathie

Wow… this book was such an emotional ride for me. It’s definitely on the darker side (so please check the trigger warnings first), but I was completely pulled in from the start. The strength and will of the main female character honestly blew me away—what she goes through is heartbreaking, but her resilience made me admire her so much.

I’ll be honest, there were parts of this book that made me mad, parts that made me sad, and others that actually made me smile. That mix of emotions is what made the story so powerful. C. Mathie has such a gift for writing characters that feel real—raw, flawed, and human—even in the middle of such a heavy fantasy world.

And speaking of fantasy, I really loved the omens and all the darker, magical elements. The world feels big and layered, but the emotions hit so close to home that I couldn’t stop reading. That balance is something I really admire in writing.

Even though this book was tough to read at times, (TWs) I loved it, and I’m already so excited for book three. I need to know what happens next!

Can you say PLOT TWIST!?

This book gives you so much information, in such a short amount of pages.

But wow, the character development and just the over all story is great! Complex characters, mysterious (and sometimes creepy) atmosphere, and everyone is driven…in ways you may not believe (when you finally get some answers 😏).

This book is great and I’m going to anxiously await for a third one!

A round of applause for C. Mathie on this incredible prequel! I absolutely devoured it! The twists and turns had me hooked from start to finish. To keep things spoiler-free, I’ll keep it simple: if you loved The Rowbury Raven, you’re going to be obsessed with this one. You might even find a few answers to the questions that have been haunting you since book one!

This prequel is fantastic! We get some answers but not too many. It had all my emotions going from confusion to surprise to down right anger then to giddiness. C. Mathie likes to say “things are not as they seem” and man is she not lying. She’s over here giving me trust issues in the best way possible and leaving me wanting more!

This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. You love to hate characters...you watch them grow...and fall... It makes you question everything you've known. It is the prequel to book one and truly sets you up with a deeper understanding of why certain things are happening. I cannot wait for book three and to get more of Mansyn and Righan.

I LOVED this book! I was so excited to start this book and get some answers from the first book, as it is a prequel to The Rowbury Raven. The characters and world-building are so good!! C. Mathie has woven such an intricate story - every action plays a pivotal role in the events taking place in The Rowbury Raven. Get ready for a twisty tale that sets up the futures of integral characters!!
