Somebody read through/skimmed his own book far too quickly, because this is full of glaring typos and grammatical issues. Not sure where the editor was on this one. Judging by the length and quality, I assume this is yet another self-pub with no professional editing beforehand.
With that out of the way, I found the book mediocre at best. If you're a slow reader, perhaps this will be more helpful for you. I'm already a decent reader, and I got very little out of this. A huge chunk of the book was devoted to “how to skim”! I want to learn how to read & comprehend everything much faster, not how to skip it altogether. The best tip/realization I got was that I “regress” in my reading far too often, and I will now watch out for that. This ebook is filled with exercises he wants you to print out or hide portions of, which, if you read on a phone like myself, is impossible &/or impractical.
There are surely better books on the subject out there. I'm glad I got it for free, because it is not worth the kindle price (currently $2.99 for 48 pages!!!). I'm surprised by all of the 4- and 5-star ratings in its handful of reviews, which makes me further side-eye the author, tbph. I did not watch the free video that was linked, so I can't speak to that.
The book was short, but could have been significantly shorter. There are a few useful tips here that might help speed up reading but are very intuitive if you have read a lot. I think the best advice (not in this book) for reading faster is to just read a lot, and exercising your mind to capture ideas quicker, which all these speed reading gurus seem to always conflate.
Book gives you good set of hints and tips on the speed reading
Book has strong tools et and practical exercises for your speed reading practice. Essential for students, professionals who need to process lot of information in the daily routine.
A very helpful booklet. Some simple steps and concept can help you to start learning speed reading. The “speed” means you can increase the reading 2 or 3 times faster and with 90% comprehension, but don’t think it can really help you to read 1 book in 1 or 2 hours.
This book was good practice in speed reading. I read it in less than half an hour. I liked the technical ideas on fixation and inner dialogue and how/when to skim. For someone who's already a fast reader, this may not give you much, but it won't take long anyway. The exercises might be useful to bring to the classroom. I liked the suggestion to practice reading with a sense of urgency.
I swear I have read at least 14 speed reading books. I think I read 7 of those last summer. Some of them are good, some of them are bad. This one…is good. The tips provided can be helpful if you are being to learn to speed read. I believe a huge part of speed reading is if you read a lot as a child, you develop, so to speak, the ability to speed read without training yourself in a way. I believe I have been able to speed read for years.
This book is really good! Before this book I was reading at 200 -210 words per-minute. After reading this book and two days of pratice I can read at 400 words per-minute or more at a comfortable pace! That is just two days of using his techniques. If you want to up your WPM read this. Also note this is the first time I doing speed reading. I have never tried it before.
Good primer for speed reading strategies. Basically summed up by practice, practice, practice, don't read "aloud" in your head, practice, skim, practice, read phrases not word, and, um...oh, yes: practice!
This is not my first book on speed reading. Overall it had some good reminders , but not much depth. There were a few glaring typos that were very distracting. Especially from someone who is supposed to be helping me read.
