"𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔, 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓. 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔, 𝑯𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒏𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒆. 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔, 𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒓, 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒔, "𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅. 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉." 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔, 𝒘𝒆 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆. 𝑾𝒆 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌."

Wow. I just finished the final page and literally whispered, "wow." This story was so unique, I've never read anything quite like it. A group of family and friends: Jakob, Mary, Sarah, Conrad, and Eli, are drawn together by hardship and decide to start a business together. The twist? It's illegal. And even more unexpected? They're Amish.

Each of them comes from a difficult past and has their own reason for needing the money behind their next deal. They set their sights on Florida, hoping that "Lancaster Gold" (the product they grew and are selling) will bring them the fortune they desperately seek. What unfolds is a gripping, slow-burn journey... not just a physical trip from Lancaster to Florida, but an emotional one from pain and brokenness toward hope and opportunity… if they can pull it off!

The story is full of surprising twists and powerful flashbacks to their childhoods, some of which were honestly hard to read, but necessary and raw. It added depth and context that made their choices and motivations even more compelling.

This is a closed-door book, with romance taking a back seat. To me, it read more like a women's fiction / suspense novel with rich layers of family dynamics and themes of faith woven throughout. There’s a lot of personal growth, and by the end, I felt like I got the answers I needed and yet I’m still eager for more.

I can’t wait to see what happens next with Sarah, and whether Conrad ever settles down in a more traditional way. And Jakob and Mary’s story? Just… wow. I’m definitely ready for Book 2!

***This is a closed-door story with some strong language - not many instances. It involves an illegal business venture and explores unconventional relationships. The characters confront difficult pasts, including themes of healing, trauma, and personal redemption. Sensitive topics such as miscarriage, addiction, abuse, etc are addressed with care. Faith and spirituality are woven throughout the story, with a range of beliefs and perspectives thoughtfully represented.

Kept me wanting to keep reading. It’s a bit of a slow burn on the mystery bit. Definitely heavier on the family drama. This was a pretty quick read for me, and I’m interested in reading the next book.

Book Review: LANCASTER GOLD: A Suspenseful Tale of Faith and Risk by Katia Lebeau

In LANCASTER GOLD, Katia Lebeau delivers a strikingly original and suspenseful tale that blends the quiet traditions of Amish life with the high-stakes pulse of a covert criminal underworld. The result is a page-turner that’s as emotionally rich as it is thrilling.

Set beneath the placid surface of Lancaster County, Lebeau's story reveals a hidden empire—one that thrives not despite tradition, but because of it. At the heart of the novel are two sisters and three rogue brothers, whose million-dollar mission unravels into a harrowing road trip of secrets, shifting allegiances, and moral reckoning.

What makes LANCASTER GOLD shine is not just its suspenseful plot, but its complex exploration of faith, loyalty, and the cost of freedom. The juxtaposition of a deeply rooted, old-world community with modern greed and desperation creates a tension that is palpable from the first page to the last.

Lebeau’s prose is evocative and cinematic, painting the countryside with a haunting beauty while peeling back the emotional layers of her characters. The forbidden romance between a young couple adds heart and vulnerability, underscoring the central question of the book: is faith a compass—or a convenient disguise?

Fans of suspense, literary drama, and stories that challenge black-and-white morality will be riveted. Think Breaking Bad meets Plain Truth, with a touch of Bonnie and Clyde. LANCASTER GOLD is bold, thought-provoking, and unforgettable.

Highly recommended for readers who love thrillers with soul, secrets with stakes, and stories that aren't afraid to ask what lies beneath the surface of faith.

If you thought Amish country was all bonnets, barns, and butter churns, think again. Lancaster Gold flips that postcard perfect image on its head and hides a smuggling empire behind hand-stitched quilts and quiet prayer. Katia Lebeau delivers a story that's part thriller, part love story, and 100% unexpected.

At the heart of the chaos are two sisters and three rogue brothers on a million-dollar road trip that’s equal parts high-stakes and high-emotion. Secrets ride shotgun, and betrayal is in the rearview. The real kicker? A forbidden love that dares to challenge both tradition and the law. Messy, bold, and raw in all the best ways.

What makes this story hit harder is the emotional tug-of-war between faith and freedom. Are they doing God’s work or just using Him as cover? That question haunts every mile they travel, and as the miles stretch, so do the cracks in their loyalty.

Katia doesn’t just tell a story, she builds a world where silence is currency, and tradition is both a shield and a weapon. You’ll question every motive, root for characters you probably shouldn’t, and gasp more than once. Amish mafia vibes? Yes, but deeper and more human than you’d expect.

What a ride! The book starts off a bit slow as it takes time to introduce the characters and build its unique world, but then it becomes an absolute rollercoaster of mystery and suspense, and I loved every minute of it. There is a religious element woven into the story, but it never feels preachy; it’s simply part of the fabric of the world. The ending left me wanting more, and I can't stop thinking about the layers of symbolism throughout. I’ll probably read it again just to fully appreciate all the subtle details. A fantastic summer read. I devoured it in under a week.

Honestly, how do we get this under the eyes of a big-screen producer? This story needs to be a motion picture. It has all the ingredients for a visually stunning and emotionally gripping film.

I picked up Lancaster Gold expecting a quiet story set in Amish country… and wow, I was not ready for the wild ride this turned out to be.

A million-dollar shipment, a group of siblings on the run, forbidden love, and a whole lot of secrets—this book had me hooked from the start. It’s suspenseful, emotional, and full of twists that actually matter. I really loved the tension between tradition and rebellion, especially with the young couple breaking all the rules.

It slowed down a bit in the middle, but the ending pulled everything together perfectly. Also, the setting? Gorgeous and eerie at the same time.

If you like your thrillers with heart, faith, and family drama, definitely give this a go. Super original and totally bingeable.

I was really amazed by this book! Having grown up in Pennsylvania and being very familiar with the Amish and the Mennonites themselves, I could tell that Ms. Lebeau went to great lengths to research the area, the people, the culture and the customs. As she is not from this area, that took much work in order for it to be believable for someone who knows the area so well.

I really like how she interwove the aspects of the Amish culture with the whole idea of the drug culture, something that was actually going to help them make money. It was a very intricate plot and a very interesting combination.

The other thing I liked is that it kept my attention throughout the whole book and I was waiting to find out what was going to happen at the end. There were some twists and turns that surprise me, but that made it for an even better novel. And I was really happy that it was not full of blood and guts and gore and sex and violence so often found in books and movies of today's world. This was a very interesting book that did not have to lean on those gimmicks in order to be successful.

The only thing I would say is that the chapters were a bit long and I had to actually stop partway through a chapter because of the time constraint. Other than that, this was a wonderful book that I would suggest to anyone to read, especially those interested in the Amish culture and people.

Mary and Sarah were twins who were found abandoned and given to Caleb and Lovina Miller to raise. Since they were found near a Mennonite community in Florida, one of the elders knew of the Millers and knew they would be excellent parents. But the girls always wondered where they came from and who their parents were.

Mary was married to Jakob. He and his brothers Conrad and Eli had grown a strain of marijuana to be used for medicinal purposes and had a buyer in Florida. On the way, they stopped at the small Mennonite community of Pinecraft, Florida. They find the man who saved them and learned what he had known about their past which wasn’t much.

Sarah has always been reckless and Mary knows she will go out into the world one day and leave her. They’ve always been close but at least she has Jakob.

There’s a lot of things going on in this book but I didn’t want to spoil the reading. A great book and I look forward to the next in the series Don’t Tell the Bishop. Thank you Goodreads for a wonderful book.

Katia Lebeau smashes stereotypes in Lancaster Gold, a bold reimagining of Amish fiction that blends crime thriller intensity with emotional depth. 📚💥 Set against the peaceful backdrop of Pennsylvania’s Amish country, the story reveals a hidden underworld where tradition masks danger, loyalty, and million-dollar secrets. The contrast between serenity and suspense keeps you hooked from page one. 🌾🔍

The plot blazes forward with a high-stakes road trip led by two sisters and three rogue brothers 🚐💨—each carrying baggage heavier than the gold they’re running with. As they tear through state lines, personal histories collide and relationships are tested. There’s tension, grit, and a growing sense that the past is catching up fast. 🔫🛣️ It’s a thriller, yes—but also a character-driven drama packed with risk and redemption.

At the heart of the chaos is a forbidden romance 💔🙏, one that challenges not only community expectations but also questions of faith and fate. The young couple’s love is raw and real, their rebellion poignant in a world that demands obedience. Can love survive when everything around it is built on silence and sacrifice? 😔❤️‍🔥

By the end, Lancaster Gold is more than a crime novel—it’s a meditation on belief, betrayal, and the cost of freedom. 🙏💎 Lebeau crafts a genre-defying tale that’s equal parts suspenseful and spiritual. With its powerful themes and pulse-pounding twists, this book is impossible to forget. 🌌📖

“Lancaster Gold” isn’t your typical Amish tale—it’s a wild, suspense-filled ride through secrets, faith, and forbidden love. Jakob, Mary, Sarah, Conrad, and Eli—five souls carrying the weight of their pasts—join hands in desperation and hope. And what makes it even more jaw-dropping? They’re Amish. Beneath the peaceful landscape of Pennsylvania’s Amish country lies a hidden criminal world, and this book wastes no time throwing us into the heart of it. With a million-dollar shipment gone rogue, two brave sisters and three rebellious brothers set out on a daring road trip—one that tests everything they believe in. Their faith, their family, and their past all collide as they run from suspicion and chase an uncertain future.

At the center is a young couple willing to risk it all for a love that’s not only forbidden by tradition, but possibly fatal. As the story speeds ahead, secrets begin to crack open, and the tension is as thick as the backroads they race through. Every twist makes you question who’s loyal and who’s hiding betrayal under a cloak of faith. It’s raw, emotional, and intensely human—the kind of story that forces you to hold your breath and pray right along with the characters.

Lebeau delivers a genre-bending masterpiece that fuses crime, love, and spiritual struggle into one unforgettable tale. Lancaster Gold is about more than just escape—it’s about finding truth in chaos, and discovering whether faith can save you when everything else fails. This book doesn’t just break the rules of Amish fiction—it burns them. A must-read for anyone craving suspense with heart and soul.

Lancaster Gold isn't the typical Amish story. A bishop with twin daughters, one entirely faithful, the other flirting with the English life. Mary, the faith filled daughter, falls in love with a Mennonite, Jakob. Jakob's brother, Conrad, has a secret that could make them rich, but it’s somewhat illegal. The four, along with Jakob and Conrad's half-brother, decide to take the risk. Can they reconcile what they are doing with their faith? Will the risk pay off for them?

Mary is desperate for a baby, but after 6 miscarriages, a fertility expert is needed and what they make farming can't pay those bills, especially as the Amish don't have medical insurance. She and Jakob are more than willing to take the risk. Mary believes God will see them through. Sarah, her twin sister, will take the risk to finance her new life outside of the Amish community. Conrad likes the finer things in life, but still keeps his Mennonite faith. The risk was all his idea. The half-brother, Eli, is in just for the money.

The characters are very well written. Most really rely on their faith throughout. The story takes some turns that I didn't anticipate. It held my interest and had an ending that was a little surprising. There are a few inconsistencies in the writing, which sometimes didn't make the story flow smoothly, but overall, I enjoyed reading the book. #GoodreadsGiveaway

I just finished *Lancaster Gold* by Katia LeBeau, and it’s unlike any Amish fiction I’ve ever read—a real game-changer! This isn’t your typical bonnet-and-buggy story; it’s a pulse-pounding crime thriller that dives deep into a secret underworld hidden in Pennsylvania’s Amish country. The idea of an Amish family running a shadowy empire with old-world precision hooked me right away. It’s fresh, bold, and kept me on edge.

The story follows two sisters and three rogue brothers on a high-stakes road trip chasing a million-dollar shipment. Among them is a young couple whose forbidden love adds heart and tension—defying tradition while facing real danger. I loved how LeBeau made them feel so real; their struggles with loyalty, faith, and secrets hit hard. The pacing is relentless, with twists that made me gasp as truths unraveled and loyalties cracked. Every chapter brought new questions: Who’s hiding what? Is faith guiding them, or is it a cover for betrayal?

LeBeau’s writing is sharp and vivid, painting the Amish world in a gritty, unexpected light. The mix of crime, redemption, and forbidden love kept me glued to the pages, rooting for the characters even when I wasn’t sure who to trust. The road trip itself feels like a character—full of danger, blurred state lines, and moments that test everyone’s limits.

*Lancaster Gold* is a thrilling, genre-bending ride that blends heart, suspense, and big questions about faith and sacrifice. It’s perfect for anyone who loves crime fiction with a unique twist or Amish stories with serious edge. I couldn’t put it down and highly recommend it to anyone looking for something fresh and exciting. Can’t wait for LeBeau’s next book!

“Sometimes, God does not whisper. Sometimes, He does not nudge. Sometimes, He throws open the door, floods the room with light, and says, ‘Walk, my child. Walk in faith.’ And when He does, we must not hesitate. We must walk.”

📖✨ Book Review: Lancaster Gold by Katie Lebeau ✨📖

Katie Lebeau delivers a stunning, emotionally-charged narrative that beautifully captures the tension between tradition and transformation. "Lancaster Gold" isn’t just about the secrets we keep, it's about the ones that shape us, define our legacy, and ultimately set us free.

Set in the heart of an Amish community, the novel delicately unravels the Yoder family's hidden past while exploring their loyalty, sacrifices, and unwavering grip on faith. Each character feels lived-in and layered, especially Mary and Jakob, whose journey through loss, healing, and unexpected miracles had me pausing more than once to breathe.

What makes "Lancaster Gold" stand out is how gracefully it intertwines suspense with soul. From tear-jerking confessions to tender flashbacks and haunting revelations, every chapter peels back layers of the human spirit. The prose is lyrical, the emotion raw, and the spiritual undertones grounding.

And just when you think it ends, it doesn't—"Don't Tell the Bishop" promises more, and I can’t wait to follow this unforgettable family's journey further.

If you love intergenerational family drama, quiet suspense, and emotionally satisfying storytelling with spiritual depth, this one deserves a place on your shelf. 🌻

Lancaster Gold is not the kind of book you read in the background. It demands your full attention—and earns it.

Set in the heart of Amish country, this novel boldly steps outside every expectation of the genre. Instead of quiet fields and gentle courtship, we’re pulled into a high-stakes world of secrets, loyalty, and forbidden love. What starts as a million-dollar delivery gone wrong quickly becomes a suspenseful, emotionally layered journey across state lines and personal convictions.

Katia Lebeau’s writing is sharp, immersive, and deeply human. The characters feel real from the first page—especially Jakob and Mary, whose love story is as delicate as it is dangerous. Their connection, alongside the tangled loyalties of their siblings, creates a narrative full of moral tension and spiritual reckoning.

What I loved most is how this book blends crime, faith, and emotional depth without ever slipping into cliché. It’s a thriller, yes—but one with soul. It explores what happens when silence becomes survival, and how far people will go to protect not just their family, but their identity.

And just when you think the story is over… it hints that this was only the beginning.

I can’t wait for the next book. If Lancaster Gold was the spark, Don’t Tell the Bishop might just be the wildfire.

Highly recommended for readers who crave suspense with substance, emotion with edge, and storytelling that doesn’t play it safe.

Lancaster Gold is a gripping story set in the heart of Amish country, but it takes the genre in a surprising new direction. Beneath the surface of quiet farms and simple living lies a hidden empire of secrecy, loyalty, and risk. When a delivery goes wrong, three brothers and two sisters are pulled into a dangerous journey that stretches far beyond their familiar world. Along the way, a young couple in love must decide how much they are willing to sacrifice as family loyalties splinter, secrets come to light, and redemption becomes the ultimate prize.

I liked how the book reimagines Amish fiction by blending it with crime thriller intensity. The contrast between the calm traditions of Amish life and the high-stakes drama of crime and betrayal creates a compelling tension throughout the story. The characters are richly drawn, and their struggles with love, loyalty, and identity feel both personal and universal. I also appreciated how the book maintained suspense while weaving in emotional depth, making it both a thrilling and moving read.

I recommend Lancaster Gold because it is not only an exciting crime thriller but also a story with heart. It challenges expectations, offering readers a fresh take on Amish fiction while delivering powerful themes of family, love, and sacrifice. Whether you enjoy thrillers, romances, or stories that push beyond the boundaries of genre, this book will keep you turning pages and leave you reflecting long after the last chapter.

Book : Lancaster Gold by Katia LeBeau

💡 Quote: “Sometimes, the silence we keep is louder than the truth we fear.”

At the highest-bucker-high of thrillers, the book gives a taste of stark contrast between the peaceful simplicity of Amish life and the wrenching intensity of crime fiction. Set in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the story follows a pair of sisters and a trio of rogue brothers acting on a million-dollar shipment amidst a life where betrayal, redemption, and forbidden love await them.

There resides another world of pastoral charm—an empire of secrets shaken by faith. Lebeau wields cinematic tension balanced with eye-welling emotional clutter, doubly conflicted and damned fascinating. Jakob and Mary reveal the heart and vulnerability through their forbidden love, while chashingly in turmoil: loyalties prevented from forming.

The novel waxes and wanes beautifully, pitting tradition against desperation. Faith is both shield and sword in a tale asking if belief can truly dictate your way when darkness beckons. Lancaster Gold wields a gripping style—one that's sharp, vivid, and hauntingly poetic.

A squint from the world of Breaking Bad meets a tilt of Plain Truth, this is Amish noir—very fresh, very bold, and very unforgettable. A must-read for fans of thriller.

If you're a fan of emotionally gripping, character-driven novels by authors like Colleen Hoover, Gillian Flynn, and Margaret Atwood, then Katia LeBeau’s Lancaster Gold is a must-read.

In her stunning debut, LeBeau proves herself to be a gifted storyteller with an exceptional ability to weave complex themes of family, love, heartache, suspense, betrayal, and loyalty into a cohesive and unforgettable narrative. From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked—drawn in by her vivid prose, deeply human characters, and the layered tension that simmers just beneath the surface.

LeBeau doesn’t shy away from exploring the darker, messier sides of relationships, yet she balances those emotional depths with moments of hope and resilience that linger long after the final page. Lancaster Gold is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining, and it’s clear that Katia LeBeau is a powerful new voice in contemporary fiction. I can't wait to see what she writes next.

I just listened to the Chapter 1 preview of Lancaster Gold and came away genuinely impressed. I'll admit, I was curious—and a little skeptical—about the decision to pair with an ex-Amish voice actor. It felt like a creative risk that could have gone either way.

After hearing the preview, I can confidently say it works beautifully.

The combination adds an authenticity and depth that makes the story feel more immersive. Instead of feeling like two different styles competing with each other, they blend seamlessly.

The result is engaging, believable, and incredibly easy to listen to. If the rest of the audiobook maintains the vocal quality and suspenseful writing of this first chapter, listeners are in for something special.

I enjoyed the preview enough that I went ahead and pre-ordered the audiobook, and I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the story unfold. A bold creative choice by the author—and one that absolutely pays off.

Chapter one drew me into the story and characters immediately. A beautiful blend of dialog and imagery, without being unnecessarily overly descriptive. I was brought into this world in a way that made me want to slow down while reading and soak it all in. The depth of character development is phenomenal for a first time author. Several delicious twists were completely unexpected, yet fit perfectly within the plot. It makes sense once you reflect back on what you've already read and you realize those hints were building all along. Lancaster Gold has mystery, drama, suspense, all while maintaining wholesome content to classify it as Amish or Christian fiction. I'm very excited to discover what happens next, and hope this series becomes several more novels!

Lancaster Gold was an engaging read. It blends suspense with themes of faith, trust, and moral risk. The tension builds steadily, and the stakes feel personal rather than over‑the‑top, which made it easy to stay invested.
I especially appreciated how the story balances action with reflection. The faith elements are woven naturally into the plot instead of feeling forced, adding depth to the characters and their choices. It’s the kind of book that keeps you turning pages while also giving you something to think about afterward.
If you enjoy clean suspense with heart, strong values, and real emotional weight, this is a great pick. Definitely worth the read.

I didn’t know what to expect originally. It sounded like an interesting topic and I thought I would give it a shot. I’m so glad I did. It is a combination of Amish, faith, drugs and family….I mean huh? And yet it works and it is such a pleasure to read. I’m not a fast reader, but it only took me a couple of days to finish. I really wanted to know what would happen next and the development of the characters was so intriguing. I’m going to be getting copies to give to family and friends because I know they will enjoy it. I have a family of readers and this one is a winner.
