Harlow Wynn thought she’d left her past behind—along with the heartbreak and family fractures that came with it. An iconic movie star with an enviable career, she’s built a new life far from the island she once called home. But when a tragic accident turns her world upside down, Harlow is drawn back to the timeless charm of Mackinac Island—a place where automobiles are forbidden, time moves slower, and old wounds still linger.
Surrounded by the quiet beauty of horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, and memories she can't escape, Harlow must face the past she’s avoided for years. At the heart of it all stands the once-grand Wynn Harbor Inn, a symbol of everything she lost—and the key to rebuilding what she thought was gone forever.
Will Harlow face her fears and find the strength to build a bridge to the life and family she thought she’d lost forever?
disappointed as one of my favorite writers. The storyline was interesting but nothing was resolved and I just kept thinking, hope she has control of her accounts. It’s a cliffhanger in the end, will not be bothering reading the other 3 books
This first book in the newest series by Hope Callaghan is a partial continuation of the story originally found in her Easton Island series. There we met David Wynn, Harlow's father and heard the story of the family owned Inn on Mackinac Island which had been involved in a fire, later determined to have been arson, and had taken the life of Harlow's mother, Ginger. Anger and grief are not a good combination and Harlow left the island shortly after the fire vowing never to return.
Harlow's career as a model blossomed into movies and before long she was an A-lister actress married to Robert, her manager, who was always negotiating her next role, their next investment property purchase and anything else that would benefit their financial status. Robert had it all thanks to Harlow, until the night they argued about another property purchase. She left the house to take a drive to clear her mind when she was involved in a terrible car accident causing muscle damage in her legs. Robert barely made his presence known at the hospital. But Harlow was not alone.
Eryn, her childhood friend, and David, her long estranged dad, showed up at the hospital and things began to change.
Follow this new series as Harlow returns to the beautiful Mackinac Island to recover and heal. Will Robert leave their marriage since her body had been damaged? Can she learn the truth about the fire that took her mother's life? Can the relationship with her dad be healed? And what of the Inn? Will it remain a burned out shell or can it be restored to its previous beauty with the help of the brother and sister from Easton Island who are interested in partnering with David to breathe life back into the Inn...into Harlow herself?
I absolutely loved this book. The beginning of the Wynn Harbor Inn series is very well done. We’ve previously met some of the character characters in some of the Easton books. Brett and Morgan had gone to Wynn Harbor To look at the property and that’s when we met the owner, David, and I don’t remember if we met Harlow or not but we heard about her. She’s a famous Movie Star. I think Ms Callaghan does a pretty good job of explaining some things in the beginning, and I’ve always liked that. What amazes me in this book, is that she to especially contemplate that the way people feel when they’re in a certain Position. Her Connections to emotions in some circumstances is amazing!. And that’s one reason I like her books. This one is no different. The characters are broad, colorful, complete and contained. A painting would describe the situation perfectly because where Wynn Harbor is on Macinak and island. Now you’ve never heard of Macinak island you’re missing out! Mackinac Island, Michigan, is off the coast of Michigan, and you could say it’s setback a little bit in the past. What I mean is there are no cars allowed, and everybody rides around in horse buggies, and I’m sure sleighs in the winter. But, I’m sure you’re asking what this has to do with colorful Well, in the summer, the island is full of bright colored flowers. Flowers come and go, like Harlow did, until she needed the peace of the island to be away from her career and get her life back together. It’s an amazing story and if I didn’t portrait that here I’m sorry , but you’ll just have to read the book! Now go to it!
A cozy mystery with a famous setting - Mackinac Island. This Michigander was delighted with the descriptive setting details in Wynn Harbor Inn. The story’s theme: A BRIDGE TO HOME, is a reference to the famous majestic 5 mile long MIGHTY MAC bridge and Harlow coming home to face her fears and family. Book 1 Bridge to Home has a connection with Hope Callaghan’s Easton Island Family Saga series – also a Michigan setting. A page turning read with relatable characters Harlow, her best friend Jillian, and her father David Wynn and some not so likeable characters her husband Robert Barbetz and smirking casting director Daniel Orlane. This Michigander liked the reference to the Bill Knapp’s restaurant chain and the many descriptive phrases of the Mackinac Bridge – plus ferry rides to the Main Land city of Mackinaw. A story that sets the scene for this mystery series (no pun intended – Harlow is a movie star): Arson - Who would have done such a thing? Arm chair travel and a mystery plus family drama makes for a delightful read.
Hope Callaghan writes the very best books!! This one is a really an excellent series. Those who have read the Easton Series will remember David, the owner of Wynn Harbor Inn who who is going to partner with the Easton siblings to get Wynn House Inn rebuilt and running again.
First things first, Harlow needs to get stronger and walking again. With barely any contact with her husband Robert, Harlow is getting disgruntled with the state of her marriage. Every book is filled with mystery, intrigue, compasssion, vivid descriptions of the area and cosy love. Each series is like getting a letter from a dear friend and catching up from where we left off. I love every book I have read of Hope's! She is an amazing writer, each story touches my heart. If you want to sit down and be engrossed in your book immediately., taken away to a beautiful island, this series is for you!! Thank you Hope for another great story!!
This is the first book in a new series. With all of the reminiscing done by the main character about her past and her clearly absent "husband", I was surprised the book wasn't longer. Truthfully, I was starting to lose interest every time she thought about her absent husband or felt guilty about her past. Lastly, when reading a mystery book, there is usually a crime/problem and when you reach the end, there is a resolution... this book had neither, so I'm left wondering where this is going. Will this be a cozy mystery series? A cozy romance series? I do enjoy this author's other series, so I have high hopes for this one.
Wynn Barber Inn: Bridge To Home has touched my heart in a big way! We were introduced to the Inn in the Easton Harbor story, but only in a minor way. I was not expecting to be so totally drawn in to the character's lives and fall in love with each one of them so quickly. (Well each one except Robert!) From Hollywood to Mackinac Island, the life of an A list star, as she faces a major career changing accident and works to recover. Her father is working to restore the family business to it's former glory Harlow has a long battle ahead of her, but with her father David, Aunt Birdie, and her oldest and dearest friend Drum will she make it.
Okay first off I have to admit I read the 2nd book first. That was my mistake. But I had to just put my mindset to let’s just see the backstory. Now I’m glad that I did. This book was just as Amazing as the second book. Now I know as the saying goes, The rest of the story. I definitely recommend reading this series. Can’t wait to read book number three. Which I have and will be reading momentarily. Hope Callaghan never lets me down. Her books are very intriguing and keeps you reading until you either read the whole book or you make yourself stop which for me is very hard to do.
Three stars is pretty generous for this book. I rated it 3 stars because I liked that is was a clean read and that's hard to find. However, this story was so unrealistic that I was almost annoyed. The main character is a we'll know actress that returns home after an accident. She reunites with her estranged father. That's basically the story. There were so many repetitive thoughts that it almost felt like the story was just being extended to make to book longer. Then, I was totally surprised when the book ended. It was an abrupt end. It didn't even lead up to an ending, it just kind of stopped. This is not a series I will continue. I just did not enjoy this unrealistic story.
I’ve read and enjoyed all of the books in this series! In this one, Harlow has a bad car accident and returns to the island to recover at her Dad’s. It’s a heart wrenching and yet uplifting story of her slow progress and her husband Robert’s determination to have her return to making a movie before she is physically ready. Once again, I’m looking forward to the next book in the series! I received a free copy of the book and write this review voluntarily.
A good story needs characters to love. It needs them to have challenges. The best story has characters who are believable, with imperfections woven in their personalities. The author must reach a reader's heart. Not an easy task, but Hope Callaghan delivers. Wynn Harbor Inn is a place I would love to visit. The Wynns are believable. Good people who are also a little flawed, just real people. I look forward to more.
Harlow is a movie star and her husband is her manager who is very controlling. After a little argument she wrecks her car and cannot walk because of muscle bruising. Her husband can't stand to be around her so her best friend Eryn flies out from Michigan bringing along her estranged Dad. She decides to go to Mackinac Island and rehab there and begin mending a relationship. Great reading
What a lovely start to a new series by one of my favorite authors! A movie star goes home to Mackinac Island to recover from a serious vehicle accident where she begins to reconnect with estranged family and old friends. Beautifully written with interesting characters and plenty of heart. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to seeing where the author takes these new characters.
This is the first book in a spin off of the Easton Island series. This is the Wynn's story, starting after David Wynn agrees to partner with Morgan and Brett to repair and re-open the Inn. Harlow Wynn, David's daughter and a well known actress, moves back home to recover from a devastating automobile accident.
I connected to this book after reading the Easton Island saga. So I kind of know the story already which is really great. I enjoyed this book very much. It's very relatable to anyone, not to mention that I love to live in an island like what's described on this books . I want to read the continuation of what will happen to Harlow and David.
Learning the details behind Harlow’s accident brings a sad heart that wants to weep for her only for Harlow to slow her life down enough to remember the good times and seek a slower, happier pace. To do this, she must face unpleasant realities and find the strength to take a stand for a better future.
Hope has done it again! Another excellent series. She makes her descriptions so real that you feel like you are there. Their powerful feelings are so realistic. Her books make you want to live there. I eagerly await the next two books in the series.
A new family saga from Hope Callahan - following Harlow Wynn and her relationship with her father, her past, her present, fame, fortune, love, loss. Many questions need to be answered, not the least of which is - what actually happened (and how) all those years ago A very nice addition to Hope Callahan's list of wholesome heartwarming list of books.
I really love this series. It's quite a departure from the other series I have read by Hope Callaghan, but is every bit as good as the previous series that I have read. I really enjoyed the setting of this series. The Mackinac island is quite a spectacular setting. Some day would love to visit!
This is a clean romance. A heartwarming / uplifting story that takes the character back home to heal after an auto accident and her marriage and acting career could be on the line but the important thing at present is to heal from the present and past. Enjoyed the characters and hope you as well. Enjoy.
Hope Callahan, again, another great story. You make it so we feel like we are actually there. Sad that I grew up in NE Ohio and have never been up to see the Mackinac Bridge, but I feel like I have!! Thank you for your beautiful stories! On to book 2!!!!
We were introduced to the Wynn’s and now we are getting more of the backstory. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds. Will they rebuild or sell? How do the Easton fit in? What is Aunt Birdie up to? And is there hope for the marriage?
Such a fun story- but sooo short! I read in a few hours 1 rainy day. I love Mackinac Island so the setting is wonderful. Interesting to get to know the Wynn family - connected to the Easton family of Easton Island series which I’ve loved.
A good first book in the series. Paving the way for answers to many questions. Was Harlow's mother murdered? Will the resort be up and running again? Will Harlow stay married to David? Will she be well enough to work on her next movie? Looking forward to book two.
I loved the story and getting to know the new characters. We'd met David in a previous book, but getting to know his estranged daughter Harlow was a nice addition to the story. I can't wait for the next 2 books!
A slight twist to the inspirational is the mystery of what caused the fire. Right now Harlow has more that she can handle and an uncomfortable confrontation seems to be looming. They say you can't go home again, but Harlow did
I love reading Hope's books. Her cast of characters, their interactions, the occasional drama and the settings make them a perfect beach (or anytime) read. Don't miss them!
Having been married to an abusive drunk I found this book to actually remind me why I made the decision to file for divorce and learn about myself. It prove to be. the best decision I have ever made in my life
