BURN RATE is a high-heat aviation romance featuring a ruthless heroine, a steady-handed older hero, forbidden tension, and explosive consequences. For fans of emotional survival, professional stakes, and heat that detonates on contact.
Kim Serrano writes messy, emotionally charged fiction with a sharp edge. She’s from Chicago, used to organize things (and people), and now works in tech—because late-stage capitalism demands a pivot. What started as personal indulgence turned into a published habit. Sometimes her stories remember she came up through social justice work. Mostly, though, they’re about power, pleasure, and consequences.
while some parts I liked the older man younger woman vibes, secret relationship. the mfc being a strong female. the pronouns for the MMC child confused me. the mfc inner monologue was some times too heavy and repetitive. it's like we made progress within the storyline yet at the same time we didn't. idk something felt off.. I'm not the best at describing these things.

The writing is good enough to want to keep reading. But unfortunately, the absolute WOKE ideology in this book was nauseating. Hard pass on reading this author again for that reason alone. There are two sexes. That’s been true since the beginning of time. This level of delusion is scary and quite frankly, it ruined what would have been a good book. I couldn’t finish.
